Battery (Rom / Kernel) - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hey,
I`m new on this forum and I can`t find a Tread for the best Batery Life Rom and Kernel
If you know a good Rom / Kernel (Governor, I/O) combination the post it here

I'm using Jellybeer from Demetris with Iodak v006. The rom is buttery smooth (best rom I've tried and i tried almost all roms available) and battery life is great. No need to say that gaming performance are perfect for me too, I play Virtua Tennis which is lagfree

Best battery life is Stock 4.1 ROM and Stock Kernel for normal activities.
If you game a lot, then iodak is your best bet along with any other CM based custom ROM. I would lean towards either SilmBean or XenonHD.
I use Zaiben's stock rom mod along with stock kernel. Gives me about 20hours max with about 3-4 screen on time.

I use Zaiben rom too but my battery drain is very big ;/ when I unplug my phone 100% battery drain when i writing sms its 8-9 % per hour witch off wifi / 2g / sync off etc. WHY? ;c
Sorry for bad English . Redags

I do not use the gps but Iodak v06 CM has absolutely no problem for me. Data, wifi, telephone... Everything works perfectly, the fast charge is amazing and the performance are excellent too

Sorry for my bad english

Zabien rom +undervolted iodak v6 by 50mv. 0 %lost in 6 hours.
Around 3.5 h to 4 hours screen on time

I use zaiben rom with iodak v06 kernel
undervolted by 90mv
cpu 102-706mhz
interactive
cfq scheduler
screen on : 3hrs and 48 minutes
100 to 10% in about 30 hours
85 sms sent each day
2g,never used 3g connection,I use wifi connection
no gps/bluetooth/nfc/etc.
screen brightness : 20% automatic
now I'm using widgetlocker and adw launcher ex with some transition effect, don't know if they drain more battery but the best solution is stock LG lockscreen and apex launcher
I think that's all for now.

[Q]Battery drain

Hey, I've been using CM nightly 77-79 for a few days now on my new optimus 2x.
When the phone is on standby it uses virtually no battery, but 10 minuts of cut the rope easily uses 10% of battery.
I dont have any batteryconsuming running like wifi, gps, 3g, etc.
I'm using the powersave governor if that has any meaning at all. I can only choose 216 MHz and 1GHz as possible CPU speeds, and I think lowering the max CPU speed would improve battery life when I'm playing simple games like cut the rope.
Is there any way for me to make it possible to choose lower speeds than 1GHz?
Other suggestions how to save some battery is greatly appreciated.
I think the problem is that our tegra 2 gpu has no fps limit, it will always run full speed. I might be wrong, if so tell me someone please how it really is.
You can change your CPU to lower than 1ghz, use vorkkernel. With vorkkernel you can both undervolt and change the speed to higher than 1ghz and lower.

Also been wondering if i should go for the RC rather than cm 79?
I've had this issue as well when running cm, notice that it usually drains more battery when running 2d games, have played dungeon defenders for 20mins and it just drained 5% of the battery using vork kernel, whereas if Im playing lets say, zenonia, it kills my battery very fast!
I'm running a cm7 nightly based ROM and my phone has a big battery drain problem. When its full charged it takes just a couple of hours then its on 50%.
I don't have to use it much either. I charge it 2 times a day the last week.

you should consider that there may be rogue apps running in the background on your setup, so we really cant help much.. i dont have problems with battery, its running fine here..
check these maybe it helps for you:
- use bb 622 and ril 622(works well for me)
- wipe battery stats
- use cpu manager(setcpu/pimp etc.) to manage your cpu
I tryied everything you wrote. Baseband 622 is piece of crap. Very bad sound. Also clean cm with minimum background apps didn't help me.

SpeedMod: K3-7 is working great for me on Stock 4.0.3 LQ2... I've not tested K3-10 yet as I had Wi-Fi issues on K3-9.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673072
Hi CJSlim79,
Thanks for the repy. I sent you a PM but anyway... I would really appreciate someone can give me the direct link to download that version..
I was able to look for a link on that (I'm not sure if this is the right one though: http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2012/01/samsung-galaxy-note-download-speedmod.html but moving down on that link, I noticed that k3-7 is for GINGERBREAD ROMS already and not for ICS...
I'm kinda bit leery to download and install this k3-7 as it also indicated on that link that its for the 'S2' already?
If I download and install this kernel (k3.7) will this work still on my current 4.0.4 DXLRG ROM?
Thanks and much appreciated.
yup, I think the battery is lasting longer
Both Speedmod and notecore kernels are good for battery

on speedmod k3-9, I get a 1% drop approximately around 1 hr and 30 mins, How about CF-Root's batt life as a normal daily driver? what's the approximate battery life on it?

I am using CriskeloROM V9.1 now with CF-LRG kernel, also running many social apps at the back like facebook, whatsapp, wechat, mitalk, LINE, Email, Maps. I have many phone calls, and browing the web in a day. The drain is 7-8% per hour on average daily use. And 2% per hour drain on idle with those apps running at the back. I would think it is more less if I uninstall those social apps.

hmm, not bad. I would agree, background data sync usually eats a lot of juices as opposed to running them on demand only. I have exchange, aol and ym running as well, but the drain on my end still pegs at 1% every hour and a half. Not too shabby I guess.
Anyway, I appreciate your inputs bud. Thank you for sharing some infos on the kernel.

I am using spedmod k3 10 and the result is excellent. Have also disabled auto sync

As long as it push then battery usage of sync is lowest, so be carefull when setting it to manual as that can end up beingbmore battery intensive as it constantly wakes uo your phone from deepsleep.
Gmail should be automatically on push, others like exchange you have to check when configuring or changebto push if your exchange supports it

Just see that you not overclocking the CPU. Try CPU Spy from market & see how much percentage each cpu speed is working. Also use Set CPU to limit you CPU speed.
From my experience of KD + Notecore, I found there was a heavy battery drain. So I shifted to Speed Mod K3-11. You may try what suits you.

This could be a rogue app - however, have you checked your app sync schedules etc, Are you syncing widgets every 5-10 mins?
I also think that the overall Android OS encompasses the Download / Data / Android System values but I am happy to be corrected if this is not true..

Have you tried changing kernels? I saw that your on NoteCore kernel I used Notecore before and though it optimizes the performance of your phone, but it's also a battery drainer. Try to use speedmod kernel and see if there's a considerable change on your battery drain issue.
I was experimenting a lot of kernels on my phone before (as my goal was for a better battery life...) SpeedMod never fails to amaze me till now.

Had the same problem a while ago. After switching sim card.
Thanks to better battery stats I found exchange service was going berserk. Switched to pop every 15 mins instead of pushmail and the drain issue went away.
Minor nuissance mail isn't pushed anymore but sure as hell beats beats batterylife of 10-12 hours idle and in deep sleep. Now I'm back to the usual 2-3 day charge cycle.
The moral of the story: get better battery stats http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809.

Besides the ROM and kernel which affect the battery, the battery life in a day will be depending on which apps you have installed on your device, and how is your usage on the device.

Nop! haven't checked it yet.
last for 5 hours is not acceptable. all smartphone should last a day at least.
5 hours of screen on time is great.
battery depends on how u use your phone mate. it doesnt matter what rom u use.. how u use it affects the battery the most
display which is amoled consume lots of power. lower brighness prolong the battery life.
data service use lots of battery. wifi is a lot less.. use wifi when available..
standby of note is very very good especially when the phone goes to sleep. which is the main reason .. install CPU Spy from the market and check the deep sleep
flashed "[ROM] [JB 4.1.2] [PA | AOKP | CM] ◄ PACMan► all - in - one (v17)"

Most leaked LS7 JB Roms are similar, the only difference is applications devs put in them. I usually check which applications use the battery mostly. I would recomend uninstall some system applications those stay resident in the memory they also play some role on battery consumption as well. We all have different phone usage habbits and it is impossible to make accurate commend on how long our batteries last. Note II has incredible battery life bacuse of the bigger battery it has and 2 GB memory. İnstalling JB on Note 1 is actually forcing this machine for heavier load. If you really like to use Samsung apps TW rom is must but AOKP roms are not bad withous TW features. I know many people are happy with them, however their experince with battery is not much better than TW users at all.
Again, battery issue has lots of aspects and one should watch his own experience. Also there is a good tread about battery on this forum. Please check I found it very informative.

Better battery? Use a GB rom. 2.3.6

Hi all!
I've been fighting with the baterry drain and low battery performance through many months.
This was everytime with the lastest rom... So I decided to try a GB rom after knowing a guy here in my workplace that lended me a minute his SGS.
He had 18 hours of use and 80% battery left.
So I installed "Mesorom" and discovered thar I can have the screen ON 3 hours, and im discovering now how much time could it manage in standby.
I hope this gives you some advice about battery drain, looks like ICS and JB consume less power when on dual core, and on a single core it just drains too much battery. That is my opinion.
Has anyone got to this conclusion?
Please report your battery stats to compare! i'll do it in a moment.
here they are:

42 minutes of screen on time. gaming, web browsing, and instant messaging.
4 hours is still nothing. Post again if you accomplish those 18 hours and the battery is on just 2% left
rom failed to be stable, i'm trying to install official cm7 now.
BTW i managed to get screen on time of 2 hours, and 15% left of battery. 11-12h total use.
i will report when i know something else.
I use Mackay Rom (4.1.2) combined with a 1800 mAh battery and my phone lasts 2 days (airplane mode at night) with medium usage. Screen time between 3 to 4 hours.
i use CM10 and my battery life isn't too horrible, compared to a dell streak and iphone 3g like 8-10 hours standby time 4-5 hours use
Maybe I've got a little old battery, because on GB or ICS or JB my battery behave similarly. Average I have to charge my phone every second night if I use it normally. Recently I used it a little less and today's result below - 30 min of calls, about 20 min of 3G connection, 2h screen on. I use JB (SlimBean 3.1 with Semaphore 2.6).
Lol cm10 battery is better. Because ui using gpu instead of too much cpu.

I actually bought an I9000 for my GF and loaded up the newest stock rom JW8.
Battery life wasn't too good, so I switched to CM10 stable. It's really good now.
3h screen time in 2 days, or 2h screen time in 3 days. That's enough for a small device like this. I don't think gb has better battery drain than cm10.
The case is a little different on my n7100, where I get around 7-8 hours screen time on stock 4.1.2 and only 5 hours on cm10.
Cm10 has great battery live

I had my best battery live on gb. I've easily managed to charge every 2nd day. Now 1 day is a max. Especially data transfer in 3G mode is ducking battery as hell. Still prefer latest android to better battery and not coming back to gb.
