Hi Guys,
Does anybody know if I8190L firmware can be flashed in I8190N model?
What I need is to change 3G accepted frequencies from 900/1900/2100 MHz to 850/1900/2100 MHz, in order to make my devide to work in 3G networks in Brazil.
Thanks!!!

Yes but you will not have NFC
I think Odin will fail on modem.bin , but you can try to use cwm if that's the case.

I think you are right, because I have tried to flash only modem.bin before and it really had failed.
CWM is another app to flash? Where can I download it?

It's a custom recovery which let you flash things that stock recovery won't let you.
TWRP recovery works the same way.
Flash it to your phone with Odin.
Sent through time and space from my s3mini/CM10.

You can find all recoveries here :
[RECOVERY] CWM/TWRP/STOCK [DB][ALL i8190 Models].
Choose any of the non-stock recoverys *.tar.md5 and flash in Odin as PDA.
You also need a flashable zip for your i8190L modem.bin. Let me know if you need any help with that..

Using the non-stock recovery can I update both the whole i8190L firmware or just modem.bin?
Once I have flashed CWM recovery I have to update the fwr (or modem) using the recovery or I can use Odin?
Do you have a link to any instructions on how to use CWM recovery?
A "flashable zip" for modem.bin can be generated by any zip tool or do I have to use a specific one? (I already have the modem.bin which I have extracted from md5 file of i8190L firmware)
Sorry for so many questions ... I have never done this before.
I will analyze and download all the information you gave me and before proceed the updating I will prepare a "step by step" procedure. And if you agree I will post for you to check if I understood that right.

First of all, flash the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.34.zip attached here to get full root. You might need it later.
Go to recovery mode (vol+/home/power).
Choose "install zip from sdcard" & then "choose zip from sdcard" or "choose zip from external sdcard", depending on where you got the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.34.zip stored. Reboot and look for supersu in your appdrawer.
Now..I'm not even sure it willl work to get the right frequencies just by flashing a i8190L modem, but it might be worth to try.
Make sure you know what baseband you're on so you can revert back if you don't get any signal at all or something like that.
It's not just a regular zip but if you attach your i8190L modem.bin here, I can prepare a flashable zip.

No problem!
Here's your modem zip. Flash it the same way as the supersu zip.
Reboot once or twice (I had to reboot twice for my phone to recognize modem.bin update once) and see if you get any signal.
As I said..I don't know for sure that it will work. It might even be that you have to flash a i8190L firmware as well.
But from what I've understood the differences between these two models are only software related.
I have the same problem

PDA thats a Rom not a modem and does not need pit either .
jje
-download an official rom from http://www.samfirmware.com/, extract
-start Odin.
-Select "phone" and fetch the modem.bin file.
-Only thing checked should be "Auto Reboot"
-Put phone in download mode
-Plug in USB
-hit Start
Let it reboot and thou shalt have signal
I followed these steps, but Odin seems to get stuck, progress bar reach the end but then nothing happens, I left the phone plugged in by 5 minutes, I don't think it should take that long, don't know what I am missing, thanks.

Changed the modem in custom rom from XXJPY to DXJPB (I live in Singapore) and everything is intact so didn't lose apps, data, or settings
Am also looking to flash my modem but a general question to the group which might be off-topic but do you guys see noticeable difference with different modems (battery life, performance, call quality)? Am in a similar position to szqnl and live in Singapore so thinking about doing the same thing and wondering how much of difference it will be.

Heimdall has a big horn that can be heard everywhere and likes to lay around and party while looking out for Armageddon. Odin is more of a warrior and has a spear called Gungnir that was made by a team of master dwarf smiths and could strike any target in his field of view.

You have posted in wrong thread, for i9000.....
Download mode: good!
Flash with Odin or Heimdall only modem for your phone. Extract it from your last used stock rom, compress to .tar file (in Linux native, in Windows use 7-zip) and choose under PDA in Odin.
Alternatively, you can flash a whole stock image, but it will wipe all your data. Use Odin 3.04 or 3.07 and run it as administrator.

Right, was thinking of pda slot. Still easier to use cwm.
Yes but i flashed the latest i9000 modem jv9 to try and its not letting me flash to anything else. So i thought Odin might fix that without having to do a full wipe

I don't really clearly understood your issue.
But if you want to flash a Stock ICS Rom, start ODIN PC, start your SGNote in download mode (button volume down + home + power), then connect your SGNote to your PC and flash via ODIN PC.
If you don't know exactly how to use ODIN PC, check tutos on the forum.

Reinstall your ADB/USB drivers, make sure you're using USB2.0 port - for me USB3.0 always results in failed flash, ultimately switch USB ports.

The file you download from dr. Ketan is a .rar file, unzip it once and you get a .tar file. Flash that file with Odin in pda section. So don`t unzip the .tar file again.

To start with - you need root to flash this custom ROM, so unrooting your device was a mistake, you have to root it again.
Now, i've never flashed Criskelo's ROM, but from what i've read in the thread, you need to root your device, flash Chainfire's ICS repack via mobile odin, and then flash criskelo rom via CWM. Do not unpack the .zip file, you need to point CWM to that file.

If you use Odin you won't lose your IMEI number but yes you'll change your modem... flashing a full package might change it, but I'm not sure. In full package roms "PHONE" file contains modem's data... I've never tried to flash a rom without this file...or simply changing this file but it could be a posibility :S:S:S

Modem file contains data related with wireless connectivity, radio, network communications...
Yes you can to backup your current modem data, creating a flashable zip via CWM
Here it is the script
BACK UP YOUR ROM'S MODEM
1. Flash this zip via CWM
2. When the script finish you'll get a flashable zip in /sdcard/Backup_Modem with your current modem files

Where are you from? Maybe we could find a flashable CWM modem file

You cannot flash custom rom in odin even if it's in tar format.
Check twrp version should be latest and must be for your particular model.
Make wipe first before flashing any rom to avoid and errors.
