[Q] Mirrorlink with Stock ROMs - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone figured out how to get mirrorlink working on CM10.1?
I figured someone might have found the TMServer equivalent and tried it, but it appears not.
I going to try digging in the stock ROM to see if I can find TMServer and if it works without modification.

[Q] Update Woes!

I was hoping someone out there would be able to help me. I have been trying to find the related threads to aid my quest in updating my Motorola Razr I to Jelly Bean to no avail. The firmware is an orange gb one. I tried to install one I downloaded in a different thread. One that set my version to 81.5.31002.xt890.orange.en.gb but that didn't help.
The issue is I get the update in about phone > system updates. It downloads but fails to install. The update lists itself as the system version without the orange part in the firmware name. I spoke to Motorola who just said send it back in but I dont really want to spend 10 days or more without my handset especially now that I have tried to put a updated rom on it. I wondered if anyone had an update.zip or something I could run from recovery that would install the latest version. Or someone who could help / point me in the right direction of how to install an unbranded rom so I could try the update from that?
I love this phone but this kind of stuff is a real pain!
Thanks in advance

Fixed the issue myself. Needed to unlock the bootloader and root the phone to get it installed. I am hoping I can now close the bootloader or at least unroot the device! if you need help give me a shout and I can talk you through it.

[Q] Kexec module for Xperia?

Hi
I guess I already done enough goggling and followed a couple of dead ends the last week to know that this is a dead topic but has anyone had any success with a kexec module for the 3.4.0 kernel in Xperia? I'm at least for the moment stuck with the bootloader looked but the phone is at least rooted so in theory it might be possible possible to hotboot into a true Cyanogenmod.
The problem seems to be that the sources available are for very old 2.x.x kernels and a lot of stuff have changed since then and of top of that there seems to be hardware specific memory addresses that have to be addressed.
I guess I just want to know if anybody else have looked into this, perhaps someone that use a more holistic approach than me when I try to fix the compile errors one after another without have any real idea about what I'm doing.

New way to Root nearly all Android, also our Razr I?

Hello All
Georg Hotz released a new way to root android phones, thanks to a critical security hole in the linux kernel. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157
Did anyone test this on his Razr I?
I don't like to try it yet on my stock phone (no way to safely backup it).
pato
freezes after taping on make it rain.
bootloader unlocked, new aosp++ v3.1
did not work.
A user in our german forum tried it too and he failed.
Mine is still rooted with twerkmymoto but if anyone is interested you could contact Georg Hotz and ask him to work together with you to create an exploit for our phone, we probably will need it for the KK update (if it comes)
probably this only works on 4.3 or later.
Here didn't work too.
But Razr I is not alone, didn't work on N8000 either.
Let's wait geohot.
Hello guys, anyone still around lol, need help pweeease

Android Pay on Custom ROM?

So Google wallet didn't work because of like of open source modules for part of the NFC hardware. Has anyone tried Android Pay on something like CyanogenMod? I think its supposed to work a bit differently and it says it should work on any device with NFC. I"m on the stock rom and needed to unroot before it worked, you may need to turn it off in your settings.
Thanks!
Lots of muddy water out there right now. Some people working, others not. I'm on a stock, deodexed 5.1 rom flashed through TWRP. I can't get it to work for the life of me. Tried root cloak, couple of xposed modules, etc. No go. Keep getting the compatibility error when trying to add a card.
I'm on the stock ROM but am rooted and have an unlocked bootloader and I too could not add a card to Android Pay because 'Google is unable to verify that your device or the software running on it is Android compatible'.

Tab S2 T817T 6.0.1

Is there literally nothing for this? I've got the method to downgrade to 4.1.1 but that only yields root apparently. No custom roms or anything.
Is there anything available for this tablet or remarkable about being on 4.1.1 I've searched both on all boards here on Tab S2 and it seems useless.
Aside from that, is there any way to unlock the simcard slot?
I apologize for the questions but it's looking like the tab may as well stay on 6.0.1.
Thanks for comments and advice, and yes, I've searched up and down (T817T all boards, etc.)
You have got to search and read through a bit more.
I only got this tablet (a used one of course) only 2 days back, so others may be able to help you more.
For me I just rooted the tablet and installed some xposed modules. For my need with the tablet, I don't need anything else.
Unlocking simcard slot has to be done from tmobile. I am not aware of any hacks available in xda.
You can install twrp and root the device if you want. T810/T815 they uses the same chipset. The information I have gathered so far indicate that you can install aosp roms for those models, but you shall not get cellular connectivity. Any chance of having official Nougat on this tablet is very very slim. There are some aosp 7.0 roms, but they are in early developmental stage; things like fingerprint sensor won't work.
Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong on any of the things I mentioned.
I no longer have tmobile.
Could I flash the t810 firmware onto the t817 tab s2? This way I could get the updates straight from Samsung.
I was only able to get one ROM to work on mine. Ultimately, I gave up and just kept it stock.

I'm also frustrated with the T817T. I have been able to root it, flash TWRP, but I have never been able to flash a custom ROM. I have heard that the T815 ROMs should work, but I get an error in TWRP if I try to flash one.
I was reading something in the Note 10.1 2014 forum that you could flash the P605 (International) ROM to the P607T (T-Mobile) if you unzipped the ROM, removed the modem files, and rezipped it. I'm wondering if something like this would work for the T817T as well.
If anyone has any ideas how to do this, please respond here.
