Have I bricked my HTC One - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a HTC one from a seller on eBay. The phone worked fine but didn't seem right.
There was HTC apps missing and the boot loader screen was not white, it was black and the text was white but really small.
I tried flashing a Official HTC ROM using recovery and it shown on the screen install /sd card, it stayed like that for a while. I decided to leave it while I did the school run and when I got back the phone screen was black.
I tried turning it on but nothing happened, no led or vibration. I plugged in the charger and pressesd the power button and the led blinked red/orange once and vibrated.
The phone now only blinks the led once and vibrates once and does this in a loop over and over again.
Is the phone bricked and is there any way to fix it.

I am not a developer or a techy, but can you boot into the bootloader? Power off the device, hold down volume and hold power button in the lights at the bottom should flash about 13 times and continue holding button for a few more seconds it should boot into what is called the bootloader, showing "fastboot, recovery, hboot , etc on the left side. If it does look at the top it either will say "locked" or unlocked with tampered " under it , if it says tampered it would have been rooted , I think. check the cid and see what it is then look for a RUU for that version in the forums . As I said I am not a techy, but this is the route I would take.

Was this a knock off HTC one?

I have tried getting the phone back into download mode but no joy. Its not a knock off because I called HTC and they asked for the IMEI and said it was a German HTC One, they sad it needed a new board and that would cost £200.

Try to sideload the rom
Sent from my GT-N8000 using xda premium

I can't sideload with ADB because every time I plug the phone into the laptop it does the jingle to say its been plugged in but straight away does the jingle to say it's been unplugged when it hasn't been unplugged it the loop as stated earlier.

Are you sure the phone isn't out of battery? I would leave it on charge (if it charges) , let it cool down and then hold power and volume down (maybe under a bright light) until something happened...
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium

I've tried holding it up to a light and pressing volume down and power and nothing happened I then tried volume up and power and it still did nothing. I'm starting to pull my hair out lol.
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire2 using Tapatalk 2

Now I have plugged it into my laptop and it says installing drivers for MT65xx Preloader. But the screen on the phone keeps flashing like every second and a half.

[Q] HTC One X acting wierdly, possibly bricked? Please help.

Hi everyone
I hope you can assist.
I have a stock HTC One X that I have been thinking of installing a custom ROM on but never got around to it.
Two days ago, after I had it plugged into a car charger, it started to act strangely. It would take really long to wake from hibernate. Then after a while the screen would go blank, though the LED on top would still blink. After leaving it charging overnight, it then stopped restarting all together. Now it won't restart even after a hard reset.
When I plug it in via USB, it is detected and I can view the contents of my phone via my computer.
It still will not restart. When I hold down the power key, the three buttons at the bottom flash, the phone vibrates but does not restart.
I can't seem to get into the boot loader either. The screen does not come on, holding down the power and the volume down key does not give me the bootloader menu.
At the moment, my thoughts are:
1. It is possible a hardware problem and the screen is faulty?
2. It is a software problem and re-installing either stock or a custom ROM will fix it.
Please let me know what you think and how best to resolve this.
If I send this to my carrier, I have to wait 4-6 weeks for resolution.
Thanks
Phil

I am not sure. Is there any way to check this?
At the moment, the phone is plugged in, LED is green (I think indicating it is fully charged), bottom 3 buttons are lit.
Other than that, when I hold down the power key, the bottom three lights blink, but no other response.
When I installed ADB and checked using ADB devices, it reported seeing a device.
Right now, when I press the power button, the bottom three lights switch on and off, almost like its waking up. Seems like this could be a screen issue. But I am not sure.
Ur screens dead bro. If the lights on the bottom are on then the phone is awake but since u for no display then either ur LCD died or the connector loosend. Btw ur in the wrong forum this is the HTC ONE u got the ONE X

Help HTC one wont charge or boot

So my htc one running cm10.1 died and now wont charge or boot. ive left it charging for a while and nothing no led or splash screen when i hold the power button, also the charger doesnt get hot so i assume no current is passing thru it to the phone, ive tried other chargers and cables and nothing also tried plugging it in nothing works. I dont have insurance on it so thats not much of a option. any other suggestions im having a similar issue to whats in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257448
Device htc one sprint Recovery twrp kernel stock cm10.1 running cm10.1 nightly 6/7/13, also i noticed that earlier the phone didnt charge when i powered it off need help guys please.
anyone know anything else to try?
Weird, I would let it sit for a few hours to make sure the battery is completely dead. I bootlooped mine a while ago and even holding down power wouldn't make it reboot. After letting it sit, try a different charger see if the LED light starts blinking when you plug it in. It should stop after a few min turn solid, I would wait at least 10+ min then boot the phone into bootloader to hit recovery to restore a nandroid.

it's power volume up to reboot, you've probably already tried
Had a problem with no charging after rooting, though I think it had more to do with my car charger. Contacted HTC and they suggested holding volume and power buttons simultaneously for two minutes to re-calibrate the battery. My phone is charging again and no more issues since I tried that. Worth a try.

The bright light thing worked for me. I was in a similar situation after my phone shut down during an OTG transfer. I tried everything and nothing worked. I figured I had nothing to lose, so I held it directly over a 100 watt light bulb and it booted right up.

I've tried with no luck, and while were at it just because you can get it to come back on with such a peculiar method we must ask ourselves how many times we would be ok with doing that to bring our phone back to life? there must be an answer to all of this somewhere but its kind of hard to pull any logs off and device that is 100% bricked.

[Q] (Q) HELP, HTC one, black screen, both buttons flashing

Hi I really need help with my HTC one,
I came back to it while it was charging, and the screen was on displaying dialog box saying that the phone will restart in one second. I barely had time to read the text but the phone went to a full black screen with both the back button and the home button flashing. Now these two buttons are constantly flashing even though I'm not holding any of the volume or power buttons down.
So both buttons have been flashing for over an hour now and they keep going. I've tried holding down the power button nothing happens. I tried holding down the volume keys nothing happens. Power and volume down...nothing.
I need some help thanks

Sounds maybe like a hardware problem? Try holding down power button while holding the phone directly under a bright light for around 30secs. If that doesn't work try power and volume down together, again under a bright light until your bootloader screen appears.

Bright light helped,
Power button managed to get the HTC quietly brilliant screen, but then goes to black screen and back to that htc screen again and again...
Power and volume down gets me to bootloader screen but within a few seconds I get back to the same looping htc screen...
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Wait a minute...
Got passed that screen, saw my wallpaper, then it booted again...and again, and again...
Would it be because I was too anxious and went to the bootloader screen too many times?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Every time I go to the bootloader screen, I barely have time to do anything before I get back to the looping htc screen.
Now, for some reason, I got a screen with an exclamation mark in a triangle over a phone, stayed on for about two minutes, then back into the looping htc quietly brilliant screen...

Are you running everything stock? Recovery, unrooted, etc?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Stock, not rooted,
How would I know if I'm in recovery...? So most likely I would guess that I wasn't, unless I am now since fiddling around the bootloader screen (like I said, on that screen I have about two seconds where I can move up or down but then I don't have time to select an option and the phone goes to the HTC screen...)

You probably weren't in recovery. Did you get the phone new or used? If your bootloader screen says **LOCKED** at the top of the screen and you got it new, if it were me I'd take it back to where I got it.
Sorry I can't help more, maybe someone else can help if they've seen this before..

Got it new, says locked on top of the bootloader screen.
Factory reset at that point?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Don't ask me how but now I'm passed the booting screen and can use the phone.
BUT, both buttons are flashing...
Also, can't restart...holding the power button down won't do anything

Like I said, if it were me I'd take it back for repair/replacement. That's not normal - especially for a device that's completely stock.

[Q] HTC One has just died and won't power on

Ok, I have a HTC One from new, only a few months old. 4 days ago I rooted my device and flashed with Android Revolution HD, Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) - latest official HTC One 3.57.401.500 (WWE) firmware (3x.x series). Everything has been working like a dream, perfect.
Last night I was listening to some music via Google Play when everything stopped and went blank, I pressed the power button and the bottom buttons flashed 4 times (reboot?). The battery at the time was at 70% +
No matter what I try now, power + up volume, power + down volume, power + both volume, just power will not get my device to boot. I am currently leaving it plugged into the mains to see what happens but there is no LED light on.
Can anyone out there help me besides saying send it back for repair
Many thanks in advance
One thing to add. When I plug the phone into the PC via USB, I can press power and up or down volume and can hear the connect and disconnect sounds happening with my HTC One but still no power or sign of life. Anything going on I can't see?

Good. Now just keep holding the power+vol down till the buttons below the screen flash, then plug it into your pc whole holding the combo, and keep trying till your phone boots up

Going through exactly the same thing here. Phone was working just fine, had stock Android 4.3 installed after rooting with CWM and now the only response I get from it is when I hold down volume down and the power button I get the USB unplug/plug unknown device sounds on the PC.
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

my htc one is flashed with google edition 3.4 for few months ,suddenly it is black and no charging light nor response to any combination of power plus volume
I put for few hours on charging no any response
when plugging it the desktop in device manager just feel like something is attached to pc (do just like(refresh)
I've just read about how this problem could've happened because of using 3rd party chargers with a higher voltage/ampere rating.. Is that true?

It's just weird. I've taken great care of the phone and it bricked for no decent reason. It wasn't charging or anything. It was simply on the top of a table, in the shade. Whenever I plug it into the computer, I get the QHSUSB_DLOAD unrecognized device, which is also weird. If the motherboard is fried, it shouldn't be recognized at all, right?

It will actually get recognized.. But this unfortunately is a hard brick.. Looks like this is the mode in which Qualcomm/HTC inserts initial codes into the phone to make it work.. Like maybe it programs the bootloader at this stage?

I'm downloading the RUU as a hail mary, but I'm not very hopeful. Worst part is that I live in Brazil and have a device from Australia. It's going to be a HUGE amount of trouble to get it replaced, apart from all the stuff I had on it.

You need to be able to boot up at least in fastboot mode to flash an RUU.. I tried when my phone died.. 99% it won't work. Getting a replacement is all you can do.. Unless you find somebody in your area with a jtag box and a good level of expertise/experience.

Yeah, some places have the JTAG box around here, but they don't work with HTC One, since the device didn't officially come to Brazil. I guess I'll have to figure out how to get my phone to Australia and then back again.
