Amazon app store application is now saying I only have 17 apps to install.
Just few days ago, I remember seeing over 60!!
Now, on Amazon.com, my device used to show up as "Logic PD Zoom", now it says correctly "Barnes and Noble Nook Color" and most apps shows up as incompatible. (even though MOST - except couple) of apps that I have so far installed are working.
(I usually just get the free app of the day and don't download and install since I usually just like to play few games at a time).
Is there a way to get around this restriction and enable the app store application to have an option to download ALL apps?
Have you looked @ Amazon.com website
Under Account Settings / Digital Content / Your apps and devices. There's a page under your account - where you can activate / deactivate a device - and manage apps. I haven't had your problem - but that's the first place I'd look to resolve the issue.
i changed my hw version to the HTC vision when the netflix app first came out as a work around. maybe you can try that, and see it more apps show up
Like the title says , no root, just a standard fire 5th gen tablet with the play store installed, it logs into my google play account just fine, it sees all the apps that I've bought and installed on my phone, my payment options, whole nine yards. But every single app that had to be purchased is being treated as if I haven't purchased it., despite being listed in the "my apps" tab. Is there a way to correct this? I really want to try playing baldur's gate on my tablet, but I'll be damned if I am going to pay $10 AGAIN.

this has been reported a few times
cause Unknown, for most paid apps install normally
Could try a different version of play store?
reboot the fire?
Sent from my KFFOWI using XDA Labs
Tried rebooting, no luck. Can I update the play store? If so, how?
As an update, just leaving the tablet alone for a while after installing google play, it updated on its own, and now the problem is solved. WOOHOO BALDUR'S GATE!
I'm seeing update to 604 OTA on my brand new Remix mini but I had read that the new releases remove Google mobile services, basically ruining a huge reason people buy this device. If I want to continue using Google mobile services should I just stick with the stock ROM and work with the limitations and the various bug fixes?
Wow that was several updates ago. The mini still has Google Services. It was only removed to overlay some ground work and to finish talks with Google. If it does disappear after you update, just go to the Remix Central app to download the service back onto the mini.

Thxx Amora, that's what I thought but I'm on the device right now and there is a big pop up warning on the 604 update that says if you agree to this update, Google Play services and all your apps will be disabled and removed. You can choose not to upgrade and continue using these services.
I assume this is an error in the warning from what you are stating. I'm updating it despite the warning and will see.
So just to confirm, this device still has Play Store / GAPPS? They have a 40% off special and I want one.
The process of rooting the device is still a bit unpleasant, and as such I can't tweak options and patches to get APKs working. I'd rather have the Play Store outright.

Yes. The remix can still use Google apps. You just have to install Google services and the apps yourself instead of having them come pre-loaded now.
And as is often the case with hardware, the box will come with an old version of the os installed. The first time you hook it up it will check for updates and you will get the warning since you are moving from a factory version of the os which has the apps installed to a new version which does not.
Once the update completes, open the remix central app from the drawer (or desktop if you have a shortcut there) and scroll the bottom to find Google services installer. Download and follow the instructions, and when it tells you to - reboot. Once that's done open the "app store" app (also in app drawer) and install/update Google play (handy dandy search in the top right) and the icon will reappear on your desktop/in the app drawer if for some reason it vanished in the first place.
Note if you previously set up settings/accounts - you will need to do it again (so you have to give the store your Google account again as this was wiped out during the update).
Howdy,
I am looking for some very specific help here on my device and so will try to provide as much information as I can with regards to it.
The basic issue is that I cannot, for any adequate length of time (more than a few minutes or hours), access the Google Play store on my Kindle Fire 5th Gen after it's initial installation. This is on Fire OS 5.3.2.1.
Where I started:
I have followed the instructions on how to install Google Play on the Kindle Fire without requiring root, which is basically the installation of the four required APKs. I used the script posted here on the forums and it worked well enough, but I've also copied the APKs locally to the device and installed them from there using the Local Storage tab in the Docs app.
The issue:
Within a few minutes or hours of having the Google Play store working, I am, for a second time, prompted to accept the Google Play terms and conditions when I load the store app. Once I accept (which I have no real choice otherwise, it just exits the app if I click Decline), I am now faced with an empty store screen and the message saying that there are no apps I can install as my Administrator has not made any available to me.
As I am my own Administrator, I know this is utter nonsense. This is also only the case on my account, as a dummy account that is not part of my G-Suite account does not have this issue, but alas, also does not have my purchases associated with it so this is not a good permanent choice.
My troubleshooting:
This issue seems to be entirely due to some issue with the fact that I am using a G-Suite account (the previously named Google Apps for Work) and not just your average Google account. The "apparent" issue is that the Google Play Store app seems to think I am using an Advanced management device (more info here, support.google.com/a/answer/6328699).
I have spent a few hours on the phone with G-Suite support on this. There was a point I mistakenly had the Advanced management settings on (EMM is the main culprit setting, the ability for the Administrator to control which apps their users can install, users being myself, my wife, and our son), but I have since, and for over a week now, had it off. They say toggling that takes about 24 hours to propagate, so that should be plenty of time. All I really wanted anyway was the Basic management anyway, i.e., being able to remotely locate, wipe, remove account, etc., on my various devices should they be lost or stolen, but I turned on some settings that weren't worded well enough for me to understand, apparently, and so Advanced it was.
Even with the EMM off, I still receive this error. At this point, I have many times over removed both the device from my G-Suite account as well as turned off mobile management entirely (it currently sits off and has since last week) which should have made it about as equivalent to a standard Google account as you can get, and yet still, the second prompting of the terms and service and the subsequent inability to browse the store after more than a short while after it just worked a bit ago.
Workarounds:
I can uninstall all four Google services apps, re-install them, add a dummy account, and get any free apps I want installed on my Kindle added, then uninstall again, re-install again, and add my account back, and then launch the apps and have them work. But again, this doesn't give me access to my purchased apps or add-ins so is not the best choice of action, nor is having to do this whole process again and try to get the Google Play store to work for those precious few minutes before it conks out. Sometimes it's not even a few minutes, but usually it is, but nevertheless, not the best all-around choice.
My hopeful resolution?:
Since neither I nor G-Suite Support seems to know of a setting that is currently preventing this from working, I am wanting to try some other methods that seem logical to me.
1) Putting the Google Play Store on my wife's profile on my Kindle and have it install any apps for all users and not just her profile. That "all users" part is what I am missing how to do. I know the script mentioned above that installs Google Play does install to all users so I know it's possible. Naturally, I would prefer this done through the store and not through manual APKs but beggars can't be choosers. I just want my auto-updates!
2) Allowing the adding and management of multiple Google accounts under my single profile. Currently, only one Google account can be added using the method of installing the Google Play store above, and if I could add mine and a dummy one, it should also work, in theory, by just swapping back and forth on the Play store. Still limited by purchases that are tied to my account (I believe), but not add-ins. I'd have to see how much trouble that is worth, but it could be better than nothing.
3) Anything else someone here on the forums can think of.
I'm open to questions, suggestions, or whatever at this point. I've now spent two weeks on this and yet still no resolution.
Thanks!
Tough issue, but not entirely unexpected behavior given the interdependencies of Google Play services components and undocumented assumptions of how play services/store will be installed on unrooted systems. Layer on G-suite and you have a snakes pit. My guess is one of more of the installed components is self-updating while the others are not. Probably not going to be able to control that behavior on an unrooted device.
May be less involved (and more successful) grabbing a refurb from Amazon Warehouse which typically arrive with older/rootable firmware.
Did you ever find a solution to this? I've got exactly the same problem now... Information seems light out there.

No, I never got a fix for this, and unfortunately I have been relegated to just uninstalling all apps that came direct from APKs or just not from the Amazon Appstore. It sucks and makes my Fire not very worth it, despite the nice price tag.
Hi Guys,
Just unpacked my new fire hd8.
Did anyone already successfully install the play store on this Android 7 based device?
Would it work to simply try fetching the usual files from Nugat and install them?
Thanks for your help

ok, just gave it a try:
Google Services Framework and Google Account Manager 7.1.2
Google Play services 14.3.66 64bit nodpi
Google Play store 11.9.14-all
After starting Google Play the Fire insisted on installing nee Google Play services. I let it do it's job.
So far it worked. I can install apps.
I'm getting it on Saturday. How is it performing?
Can you post a picture of your Fire HD 8 with Google Play working?

Quite ok, much faster than the older Fire 7 I had, and gave up on.
It is very usable. Downloaded quite a few apps now, and most perform well.
Only my local newspaper app still causes issue when logging in, but this app isn't working well in real live too..

Yep I have a Fire 7, 5th generation. Disabled some bloat and removed lockscreen ads, it performs /okay/ now, but great to hear that the new Fire 8 performs good! Excited to test it out on Saturday.

Quick update. Realised that I was sloppy on the OS version: After the initial update it's 6.3.0.1. A reasonably clean Android 7.something
So far pretty much everything seems to work as wished. I usually install apps from the fire store if available, and then from play if I don't have the choice.
I have now Chrome, hangouts, hangouts meet, both with two accounts (enterprise and personal). Goole Play Music, Canon Camera Remote (Fuji is on the fire store) etc running.
Also my microsoft account works well, no issues with onedrive etc... For Skype I'm using the Kindle version.
One note: don't forget to enable the lock screen if you want to add a google enterprise account. Otherwise it will simply fail to log on, without a direct useful error message!
So I got my new Tablet yesterday, loaded it up today with the exact versions you list above, it lets me log in, but then kicks me out of the play store and asks me to log in again... Hope this isn't anything to do with 2FA or anything, but I can't figure out how to stay logged in and install apps...
Edit: Yeah, it lets me login, accept the terms, then goes right back to Checking info... Which leads to the login page...
Thought I had it with a factory reset, got a few apps installed, but now won't stay logged in again...
Google Play services won't run unless you update Google Play services
Has anyone run into this on the newest version of the Fire HD 8? I go to update Google Play services and it says it is 'installing' forever (well... it hasn't stopped yet at least... I've forced stopped it a few times, and tried again, but nothing) I've tried the most up to date guide on here (October 4th 2018) and this still sits here waiting on installing services... which stuff like Google Play Books needs... I mostly want GPB because I store a lot of books on Google, and this is a great little reading device.

Strange Google Play Books won't even install unless Google Play Services gets updated. Thanks though.

Did you check which versions are now on your tablet?
Did you try to do an update of all apps on the Amazon Store first, and then on the Google play store? Make sure you are not "updating" any apps that are originally from the Amazon store, like Alexa (causing issues).
Can you log into your google account from the silk webbrowser?
Everything works pretty well on my tablet. I only had to download the Amazon Alexa app again from the Amazon store, after the play store had "updated" the original version, which caused it to crash.
Same issue continuous login loop

I can login to Google in Silk.
All versions are the following:
Google Services Framework and Google Account Manager 7.1.2
Google Play services 14.3.66 64bit nodpi (040400-213742215)
Google Play store 11.9.14-all 214884739
I have dual factor authentication on my Google account which requires me saying yes to an authorization prompt on my phone.
That seems to work though because after that I am prompted in the Google Play app with terms of service. When I accept them, it goes back to the login prompt, requiring me to enter my credentials again. This loop didn't end even after five attempts.

Just checked the Silk Browser and Amazon updates, same problem remains. Checked multiple times that I've got the right versions for this tablet, same result. If you need something now return it and look elsewhere. Otherwise look for a workaround in the coming weeks. This doesn't feel like a showstopper issue.

Sorry to hear. Looks like something is behaving differently on your Fire.
You could try a complete reset and do it all over again if you are feeling adventurous.. Though I have heard that doing the same thing all over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity
I do not 2FA on my google account, so that could have triggered it.
btw.: Did you also have the message about updating google play service after google play store the first time? Apparently my google play services framework still seems to have the same version number... Just looking for things that went differently on your setup.
Returning sounds like a good plan if an android tablet is what you really want.
According to this article, Google apps are not supposed to work on the newest Amazon devices. It also mentions something called "Yalp Store" which might be interesting.
https://android.gadgethacks.com/new...-amazon-no-more-android-apps-fire-os-0183744/
Also: I am not sure if the Launcher Hijack apk v.3 is working on the new Fire 8, but I found a new launcher called "Flick Launcher" which allows you to set a custom action for the home button. Set the home button to open Flick Launcher (open itself), and it will go to home screen. It will require the pro version which is $2.50. I don't have a Fire 8 8th gen to test it on, but it does work on my Fire 7 7th gen, and my Moto E Play. It's very slow getting to the home screen on the Fire 7, which has Lollipop, but it's a lot faster on my phone, which has Oreo, so it might be faster on Nougat. I am not sure if this is a definite solution, but it could be.
