yes i know i have to unlock the phone...is it possible to unlock the phone? even the phone have bad imei / esn..?
From what I have read and seen on ebay and other places, the phone can only be unlocked by imei and, if you can't read your phone's imei, you may be out of luck.
Did you try you sim in the phone? Were you prompted to enter your network unlock code?

this not unknown esn / imei sir...but bad esn / imei..
actually i have not received the phone yet, and maybe take long time to get here, because im not in US...
i just try contact www.gsmunlockus.com, and ask bout this..they said "Yes it can be unlock but it will not work in the USA"
so i think its no problem if the bad esn / imei, but the phone still can be unlock...
I am sorry. I misunderstood your post. You have an imei but it is listed as bad. In that case, it should work with your carrier when unlocked.

in order to use the droid3 on gsm networks you need to unlock it, therefor you need the unlock code. changing the imei is an entirely different issue. just for curiosity? you want to circumvent the blocking of the device in turkey since its not registered?
Is there any way to find out what method was used to simunlock an x8 (without asking the guy who atualy did the deed, ofc)?

Well, if its unlocked via imei, Im safe to unlock the bootloader... at least thats as far as I could gather by all the info scattered around.
To help narrow down the possible unlock method used, I can add that whenever the phone is rebooted, and there is a sim from a different Service Provider than the "original" one, it asks for a network unlock code. By tapping "skip" the phone then boots up and works just fine with any other Service Provider's sim.
This leads me to believe the phone was unlocked by other means than IMEI. And hence, all hopes of unlocking the bootloader are obliterated.

Nice! Have fun!
Hi. The day I got the HTC One (from Bell) I went through the "unlock bootloader" and rooting process. Everything went fine and I've been using various ROMs and Kernels.
My question is: Is my phone "unlocked" as in able to be used with other carriers? I thought that's what unlocking the bootloader is.
I'm asking this because I got a SIM card for cheap roaming in the US, which I tried to test yesterday. When I booted the phone after putting in the Roam sim card, it prompted me to enter an 8 digit access (or pin) code. I had no idea what that was. And when I called support they said I would get that prompt if my phone wasn't unlocked.
So... is unlocking bootloader the same as unlocking from a specific carrier?
Yes, you can use all carrer if your phone isn't SIMLocked by the carrier.
So, seems that your sim is blocked, 8 digit for pin is the puk for unlock your sim.
How can I know 100% if my phone is unlocked? (other than inserting a SIM from another carriers). Is there something in settings that indicates unlocked?

I'm not sure what you mean. The phone was originally branded with Bell Canada. Then I unlocked the bootloader and rooted.

Unlocking the bootloader has nothing to do with unlocking the phone to use on other carriers. Your device is still SIM locked If you want to be able to use your phone with another carrier's SIM card, you will have to find a website that provides such service, like cellunlocker.netcellunlocker.net

Thanks, that is what I wanted to know!
I just software unlock my Note 3.
There is a signal bar but I can't text or call it says that I don't a service available. Please help!
Is software unlock really not that realiable?
Do you mean you rooted your phone?
if yes, rooting should not affect anything, if sim unlock,
What is your phone carrier before unlocking?
What is your current carrier?
How you unlocked your phone?
thanks @abofihmi for the reply..
I paid a guy to software unlock my phone from AT&T, he changed my IMEI and there it worked..

So i bought an at&t XT1097 from ebay and it came with sim locked, i tried to unlock it with no succes via at&t because they told me the imei was not in their database.
After looking at the imei displayed on the box i found out it wasnt the same displaying at the phone (i checked this imei and this was the original imei). So now what should i do? I have my moto x rooted and bootloader unlocked still i dont know if i should just return the phone since i live in Chile and bought on the USA, or try to upload the correct imei.
well as far as i know if it was att variant, then bootloader should not be unlocked, as att isnt allowing it, your device seems too be from a diffrent carrier, i guess xt1097 is not only own by att, retail ca, retail brazil and many others carriers also use xt1097. search by the imei might be you find something help full, and also check sim tray, it contains the original imei also.. you can also check imei from bootloader, just boot into bootloader and press volume down and select barcodes from the menu by pressing volume up. last thing you can do is RMA
It IS an at&t variant, i just unlocked the bootloader via sunshine. The sim tray doesnt contain the imei either and in the bootloader barcodes it shows the IMEI that im unable to unlock.
What is RMA?

The barcode imei is what the real imei is.. Box imei might be different, so if you have unlockbootloader and imei is not on database have you tried 3rd party unlock providers? I got mine in 3$ from unlockbase.. Give it a try.
Ive tried to unlock it via 3rd party, where most of them refunded me claiming that they couldnt get the unlock code. Its all so weird since now at&t says i cant ask for the unlock code since its attached to an account (previously they said it wasnt from at&t), and now i asked for the owner to try and get me the code.
I really hope i can get the code, im using a really bad phone right now.
Thanks for the help!
Seems suspicious. Is it possible the phone is stolen and has had the IMEI changed?
