[Request][HD/Hummingbird] Need Stock Nook HD Backup/Stock on SD? - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I'm a noob for asking this but I lost my backup under a lot of content and need a backup (CWM not TWRP) to restore everything.
On a sidenote has anyone found how to boot stock from an SD card? I might work on a build of unofficial hybrid UNDECIDED (don't want offend any ROM makers who put a lot of time and effort into ROMS) and then onto stock on an SD card.
Notice-I'm a noob so I might need to ask some more questions to get the builds done.
Edit:Can the NPK file from BN be used to restore or do I have to compile myself?

You can use that npk to restore to stock. Just rename it to zip so that cwm knows what to do with it.

I'm currently running phiremod nook V3 found here(followed the instructions too):

I'm trying to get the OC kernal installed but can't get adb to recognize my nook. I'm guessing this might have to do with me not hooking my nook up to install the correct drivers.
Can I use this guide to get my internal partition back to stock software?

Thanks for helping a NC noob out.
Does your Nook boot at all? Or does it just stay on a black screen?

Go there for help.
Thanks for the quick responses. Im currently still running phiremod. No problems with it yet. Just flashed the app fix.
I more curious if I went by those steps I mentioned above if I could get back to stock.

Yes, they would work, burning an SD card, and copying the 1.0.1 (or whichever version you want to restore to) zip file to the SD card, and flashing that.
As for the OC kernel, Dalingrin has a .zip file that you flash from Clockwork just like how you installed phiremod. You'd want the one that is for CM7.

So I was looking at the right thing. D'OH!
So from my reformatted SD card I'll download this to root of SD with CWR
-Froyo and CM7 Only
DOWNLOADS:
eMMC:
Froyo and CM7 (eMMC installations only) CWM update: http://www.multiupload.com/IJK50K41GG
Power NC on
Install from SD
Select file and install
Remove SD
Reboot?
EDIT: Do I unzip that file or leave it as is?
Many thanks.
Do not unzip. Copy that zip onto your SD card that has CWM burned to it. The actual process of flashing it takes only a few seconds, not as long as flashing the whole ROM takes.
Got it! Thanks again for clearing things up for me. Things are a little different than my dx.

[Q][NookHD+] CM10.1 native emmc install

Hi, guys, I am really new to my Nook HD+ coz I received it 2 days ago.
After reading lots of posts, I wanna try the CM10.1 native emmc which I used with other pad.
May I ask after installing it by the method given by verygreen(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2263553), is it possible to reset it to the original Nook system with the 8-restart method? Coz I note verygreen says "Note, this version totally overwrites your ROM, so back up everything important before proceeding".
Thanks very much!
If you replace the stock recovery with one of his recoveries (CWM or TWRP), the 8 failed restart no longer works. If you only install his ROM and not the recovery, the 8 failed restart still works.
But if you use his CWM SD to do a nandroid backup before you install his ROM, you can restore that one later so you get stock back.

No, don't use early4. If you want to install the CM to emmc, you must use the CWM that he has in the emmc thread (early 2.1). It should unzip to 1GB and can be burned to a 1GB or larger SD. Don't confuse it with the other cwm zip (that he calls CWM recovery) that is meant for flashing CWM to emmc.

I have some more problems, can you help me?
I installed verygreen's CM10.1 native emmc install without replacing the internal recovery. It works well but I found sth wrong.
1. Sometimes the wallpaper cannot be full screen after changing from landscape mode to portrait mode.
2. For the lock screen sider shortcut, I cannot do any modification in the setting and for the phone and sms icon, when I move to them, it says error.
Thanks!

[Q] Can i revert to stock?

I tried to follow Verygreen's thread here:
[Nook HD+] CM10.1 development for sdcard last update 07/03 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087988
CM hangs on its loading screen and I didn't take a backup of the stock before i installed. I thought the point of the thread was that i could run CM from the sd card but without the sd card in it would boot into stock. I can get to CWM by keeping the card in. Is there any means of reverting to stock or have I overwritten it?
Here's what i did;
I placed cwm on my class 4 card and copied cm-10.1-20130629-UNOFFICIAL-ovation-sdcard.zip to a location on the nook's interal memory.
Inserted the sdcard with cwm into my powered off nook.
Turned on Nook and CWM loaded.
Followed instructions to install zip from sdcard -> install from internal storage
rebooted - and reach hanging CM loading screen.
I guess before i should have backed up stock before installing from internal storage.
Am i right in thinking i can place the stock 2.1.0 from section 6 in leapinlar's [CWM/ROOT/EXTRAS] HD/HDplus Stock Root and other Mods - via CWM flashable zips - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2062613
steps would be place zip on sdcard, get to cwm, install from sd card.
is there any point running a backup at this point because CM10.1 which what it tries to boot to won't fully load at present.

Did you wipe first. I noticed your missing that from your list. Wipe to clear Data from Stock then install CM 10.1 and yes just wipe Data and flash leapinlar's stock zip. It should revert all changes
If you did wipe check the MD5 of the zip and compare to the md5 on the post.
Check md5 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1404763&d=1350336284

Installing CM11 on Stock Nook HD+

Hard to find a good step by step guide on here.
I have a stock 32GB nook HD+ 2.2.0 and want to install CM11 on the internal memory. Started reading this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2062613 but getting a little lost. Whats the difference between the emmc version and the non emmc? Are they just different version for running CM on sd card instead of the internal memory like the old nooks?
Do I need to root first or is cm11 already rooted, if so how? getting lost on all these tutorials.
I have a 4GB microSD should I use the 4gb version on the stock small?
So here's what I am thinking for the internal nook install.
Use win 32disk imager and format the sdcard using the NookHDplus-bootable-CWM-6028-for-stock-small-rev4-(05.15.13) or 4gb image?
Then transfer cm-11-20140118-UNOFFICIAL-ovation-emmc.zip or cm-11-20140118-UNOFFICIAL-ovation-sdcard.zip to the sd card still zipped up and use CWM recovery to flash it? I'm thinking the stock small CWM should be used so I can fit the CM zip on the 4gb sd card.
Do not follow that guide for installing CM11. That is for stock mods. There are two other guides for putting CM11 on internal memory.
Here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602796
Or here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2679899
And yes you can run CM11 either on emmc (internal memory) or on SD, just like the older Nooks. Those guides above are for installing to internal. Be sure to use the correct version zip for the one you want.

Prefect! Exactly what i needed
One question though the link here verygreen’s flashable CWM recovery zip file cwm-recovery-ovation-6.zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49192422&postcount=1) the files in there are called "cm-11-20140118-UNOFFICIAL-ovation-emmc.zip" not CWM Clockworkmod.

HELP Nook HD+ cyanogenmod fail...

Hi guys,
I tried installing cyanogenmod on my new Nook HD+ but when trying to install CM11 it gave me a status 7 error!!
I did make a backup before installing and so I wanted to know how to recover back to factory setting or whether I can still install CM11? When turning the tablet on it just goes to CWM v6.0.4.6
What do I do???
To get to stock go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and make a new bootable CWM SD per item 1a. Use that to flash a plain stock zip from item 6. Follow that with a factory reset by CWM. That takes you back like it came out of the box.
I don't know which guide you used to try to install CM11, but I suggest you use this one:

Thank you for your reply. I did use that guide but I think the CM11 file I downloaded must have been corrupt?
Is there anyway of trying to put another CM11 file on the device without installing stock rom?
I need to get another SD card to try to restore to factor setting.
You said you wanted together back to stock. That is what I told you how to do. You can't use that 6046 CWM to do it.
If you want to try again with CM11, just do it.

Yes I appreciate that, thank you.
I was just wondering whether I could somehow do something now to get CM11 on the device without having to get back to stock?

I don't think I have made myself very clear. Since following the guide I received an error, so I can;t follow the guide now. I just need to try to change the file that was corrupt or start again. I would prefer to change the file but I don't know whether that is possible. If it isn't I will have to buy another sd card to try to solve this problem.
At the moment I can't use the device but it does boot to CWM.
You are not making yourself clear. There had to be more to the error message than "status 7". Maybe you don't remember. Or maybe you lost the file and you cannot try again. And why can't you use the SD you used the first time?

this is what happens:

I suppose I could use the same sd card but don't I have to put the files on the internal sd card for it to reboot to the factory setting?

Now that you have CWM v6046 already on internal memory, it is ok to have the files you want to flash on the external SD. It is only the version on SD that needs the files on internal SD. Get SDFormatter free on the web and use it to format the SD so it goes back to its normal size. Then you can put the CM and gapps zips on the SD. CWM v6046 has an option to flash a zip from external SD.
But that being said, that error message tells me that you have too old of a version of CWM on internal. Are you sure it is version 6046?

When CWM loads that's the version that comes up. I couldn;t see any option of loading from external sd card?
...Also if I take the sd card out then the bootloader doesnt load. the Nook logo just loops?
Thank you, I got it back to Stock and will try the install again!
I got there and installed CM11 now. Thanks for your advice.
I downloaded the wrong CM11 file, instead of downloading the emmc.zip I downloaded Sd-card zip!
