Yes search, read and do it for yourself. It wasn't an OTA update, so you won't get it automatically.

No need to be a prick about it. I had read in several plaves that it was.

No need for personal abuse. I simply told you that it isn't an OTA update and that you need to do it yourself. There are plenty of guides on here already so there is no need for me or anyone else to give you any more information that that. If you've got a problem with that then that says far more about you than about me, so wind your neck in.
Looking through your posts, you seem to have had at least 6 different phones in the last 2 months. This would suggest to me that you either;-
1) get bored very quickly
2) have far too much money to waste on 'toys'
3) are doing this for some kind of commercial gain - buy, upgrade and sell-on
The logical assumption would be number 3; well, guess what? XDA is not here to give you free tech support to make money. If you have to do some more reading and learning then that's good. If you don't understand what you're doing and why then you run a risk of bricking the phone and having to put even more effort in to trying to get it working again.

Update On Bootloader/ Dev Cable/ Nvflash etc...

Ok from the recent accumulation of information, lots of confusion, and lots of false info, i have seen on here finally has made me to decide to post here again in order to help clean up all of the rumors and such and give an update on the status of unlocking the device...
1. Bootloaders- are locked and as of now will be for the forseable future bearing we don't get some of the info we need one being the proper sbk. there are other methods we have been working on but i guess the easy way of putting it is we have gotten to all the final doors and have all the tools , how ever the locks on these final doors are at this point still un-pickable. My current suggestion for anyone wanting to help, unless you are a good crypto guy , in which case by all means message me, for the rest of you our best bet is a hot chic a tight dress and a even better B - to some one that has access of some of the stuff we need if you cant offer any of these things than just be patient so that next time i dont have to write this and once again we wont have to publish what we are doing for everyone to read and defend against, before we are ready too!! Remember they don't document online how the built the lock , so we should not publish how we want to dismantle it until it is done!!
2. Nvflash - Yes it exists on our devices, yes it can be accessed , yes you need a Dev. cable to do so. Yes using it theoretically we could re flash our devices with unsecured images , yes with it I could make our devices free , How ever this all being said there is a problem currently, and that is that its is signed with a sbk value, this value is unknown to us it is a AES key and is in this format 0x00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000. With out knowing the value of this key anything anyone wants to tell you about nvflash is complete and entire BS!! You can not even read from the device, any command that is sent via nvflash will return an error and than disable the connection to the device in order to prevent a brute force attack. Find us this key by sleeping with the enemy i will give you an unlocked device by tomorrow
3. Dev Cable- Yes they exist, yes you can make your own, You need to send 5v to pin 4 also known as the id pin, the battery must be removed from the device when using this cable, you will plug it into your phone hold the vol - button and goto nvflash mode than your computer can see it as well as nvflash. Is there any need for you to have this cable ? As of now probably not, as there is not much you can do with this cable unless you have a dead or damaged battery and need to reflash a sbf to fix your phone so that you can than charge your battery again. And yes TBH is offering to sell you one of these cables for $50, if that seems to be a fair price to you and do not wish to make your own and do have a use for a cable that as of now is not helping a retail atrix to much than by all means order one from there web page.
Anyhow despite our lack of posting here on XDA there are a few of us that still dedicate our time everyday to this ... We are not constantly updating people here because A) Anything less than a guide on how to unlock your device is a disappointment, B) We do not think that making our info publicly available would be beneficial to anyone, and increases the likely hood of a patch or block attempt. C) Its not a oh were almost there type of operation, there is no clear cut path. Anyhow i Hope this helps clear up info and stops foolish attempts and ridiculous comments lies and posts like i have seen the past week, keep faith and enjoy your device as is its a great devices just severely crippled thanks to AT&T thats right AT&T so if your board write to them, call them, sign the patition, file a complaint to FTC blog about it and from now on only buy devices listed like here, http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/root_friendly
Have a Great DAY!!
This wake up call is very much appreciated! Thank you, sir!!
Thank you for the update.
I believe that this has been a much needed post, but please clean up the language.
Thank you.

Like many, I am exposed to this kind of language on a daily basis. Like few, I understand the importance of a clean, inviting community for all ages. Now, I am only sixteen, but real adults speak politely, with manners and respect. Such ideals are hard to come by these days, even in the adult community. I am just making whatever menial effort I can to keep these forums clean and inviting for all age groups and backgrounds.
Thank you.

i'm 10 years older and i speak however the situation requires. not everyone has to be polite and cordial 100% of the time; in fact the internet is probably the least likely place you will find that. if there's a problem, tell the mods or report the thread. citizen's policing will often just lead to backlash.
anyway, i suggest we sticky this thread to the top of the forum.
Developers rarely speak curiously our sometimes even understandably. So asking devs to speak in your preferred style will likely lead to devs ignoring you or walking away. They're very fickle that way.

With all that being said... back to the subject people Thanks for the update t0dbld! I, like many others who have this beast of a phone, will continue to patiently wait while the devs (who are working hard) try to get this thing handled!
Attention Mods: Could this be stickied in an effort to stop anymore pointless bootloader threads? Keep it updated with any news of bootloader unlock efforts.

Apart from the sbk what would you need?

XDA = eBay moneymaking source :(

Just want to share listings which i found :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270904716829&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:GB:1123
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HTC-SENSA...52440?pt=UK_Mobile_Phones&hash=item1c233afbf8
They are not a XDA devs but they use XDA and another forum as source to make money.
People stay away from them. Devs are only the one who should have profits from their hard work in my opinion. Also theirs prices are so high for things which Devs share for free with all of us.
That's such a piss take
40 for that ?! Haha what a joke.
XDA should ban them!!
I dont think anything is wrong with it. They have taken the time to research and learn how to root and install custom roms. Some people cant comprehend or are just scared to do it themselves. I also imagine that the people who want a custom rom and are afraid to do it themselves have already come accross XDA, but still cant do it.
Although it sounds expensive to us, to some people might justify it, and the people who are doing it, should get paid for their time.
Edit: Although I do agree that the Devs should get a donation for their work.

I could look at this two ways.
Initial impressions were "OMFG... stealing hacks"
But then if they offer a guaranteed assurance that if it bricks, your covered, then I think £40 is fair enough.
I wouldn't mind paying £40 for a guaranteed root. It's sensible.
seems fair enough to me......
i cant see the problem myself. its not as if people are been forced to use the service. the only reason i wont root is i just know i'll brick my phone. i simply dont have time to read countless pages on how to do it, and after spending too much time messing about on my hd2, i dont think the better half would be as forgiving again. so, £40 for a service which i'd quiet like but i'll NEVER do myself seems pretty good to me. as for people shouting for them to be banned from xda......just LOL.........

Hmm, the free market filling a niche for people who can't be bothered to learn a few new skills - it ain't new people, I recall the exact same indignation when Android first arrived for the hd2 and people sold 'installation kits'.
There's no way to stop it, no matter now easy the noob guides are - you only have to read the cries for help in the forum to realise that some people simply cannot understand something written down.
You'd hope their conscience made them donate to the dev's, but I wouldn't bet on it.

for charging £35-£40 for the service ?, perhaps £15-£20 might have been better.......
I don't seem the harm if the devs are ok with it either. I mean back in the days, before rooting, people were paying people like davinciteam to "unlock" the phones to get the bloated carrier software off the phones. No, Davinci is not exactly the same as these ebay listers, but it's the service you are paying for, bottom line.
If you don't like it, don't use it.

What the hell is happening to our world?
Here is my advice to you "not smart" people: USE YOUR BRAIN.

To Root or not to Root, That is the Question.

I recieved my One on Friday, and been debating whether or not to root since I cut the seal.
If you rooted, convince me.
If you kept it stock convince me to.
Thanks in Advance

I am not a n00b or anything... I am just leary of HTC knowing what I am doing (i.e. voiding my warranty)

I rooted after a week, but I could personally care less if you root yours or not. If you aren't new, then you should already know what to do.
Personally I think it is a little deeper than the question you pose. To me it is all about pushing Android itself to better places and thus having wonderful developers in here doing just that. Supporting the developers as they help mold Android into the best it can be is what it is all about. HTC and other manufacturers do take note of what is going on by the developers on this website and thus, it is helping to mold Android to better things. That is just my humble feelings on that.
In saying all of that, I have not even rooted yet...LOL!!! I always root and support the devs but I will feel way more comfortable when that 4.2 update hits this phone to do so. I thought we had it for a sec there with that first update. Not real sure why I feel this way other than feeling all warm a cozy and to settle in on a particular rom and kernnel. I am not what you would call a flash junkie so when I flash something I like it to be at least based on the latest Android version if possible. And I am a dummy at this dev stuff so there ya go my 2 cents. :silly:

THANKS! That is the type of answer I wanted!
Anyways, I ended up rooting and am LOVING it!

I feel like a noob, but

Okay, so I've rooted a lot of other phones before and ran roms. But I'm confused as to where to start with the Moto x. I have the AT&T variant, on 4.4. I'm personally really interested in running eclipse. But, I'm not even sure where to start, I'm not rooted, just running the stock ota. Any help would be awesome!
So if you did some searching your questions would be answered. Prior ask this question everyday You need to use SlapMyMoto to root your phone
You need to download rsd lite and the at&t 4.2.2 camera update and flash your phone back to 4.2.2 then follow the guide

I agree...however from experience.. It can be overwhelming.. First and for most OP u need to get back to 4.2.2 use RSD to flash back to 4.2.2 then follow slapmymoto to get root (after being done u can go back to 4.4 currently its what I'm on) as far as safestrap.. Its just a download.. I went directly to there site..hash of coe.. just remember BEFORE U FLASH ECLIPSE...MAKE AN NANDROID BACKUP!!! ( in case of an "oh s*it" moment) if u have questions msg me I'll help with what I can..mom running the "amazing" Verizon...

If he was completely new to Android and rooting, I'd understand how it can be overwhelming. However, the op has a lot of experience.
I always search first then ask questions if I don't understand. I don't understand why people make rooting this phone more difficult and complicated than it really is... ESPECIALLY the dev edition...

If he was completely new to Android and rooting, I'd understand how it can be overwhelming. However, the op has a lot of experience.

Totally agree with that. Guys make posts or start threads asking something that even a quick Google search will give them an answer to in 30 seconds.....But they ask instead and wait hours sometimes for an answer. I occasionally comment to them on this....But usually I just ignore the question. Again, one reason why they wait hours for an answer.
I firmly believe if someone is going to mess around with their expensive phone, they should read read read....and search for answers and eventually learn how all this stuff works. Not just blindly follow what people tell them to do. Not all advice is good advice either. Lol
If you don't learn about this stuff on your own guys....your risk of bricking your device will be much higher.
Lecture over.

It is rather overwhelming when it comes to rooting the Moto X. I can entirely see where the OP is coming from. I have read what I can find on the subject. IT IS OVERWHELMING and YES, CAN VERY WELL BE CONFUSING. I have also rooted many devices. It would be very nice to have an easier root process but we have to work with what we have right now.

i mean. i was "overwhelmed" i guess when i first got into messing around with my phone. But it was only overwhelming because i knew what i wanted to do and wanted to do it as fast as possible without understanding anything. If you just read for 5 hours instead of 30 minutes then it isn't overwhelming at all. It just takes longer than most people expect to understand everything they are doing. So they don't take the time. End up running commands and doing things they think some post told to do somewhere without any idea of what they are doing and boinking their phone up. If instead when they came across something they weren't sure what it was and then took time to read/research what it actually was, they wouldn't feel overwhelmed anymore.
Overwhelming comes from taking tiny tid bits of info and trying to make them make sense together. If you read a ton, its not overwhelming to make large tid bits of information you have accumulated make sense together. IMHO.
I didn't do it the way i just described but i also spent days on end trying to unbrick my phones. I then had to spend countless hours actually understanding what i just did so that i can manually fix them. Rsdlite and toolkits are cool and all, but they allow people with little experience to get into trouble where they need lots of experience to get out of that trouble. Also considering everyone that knows what is going on just says read read read and it isnt overwhelming anymore, they are probably spot on (wwhether they followed that process or not).

Why is there no TWRP or root for the s10 yet?

I am not a coder or a programmer and there is no need for you to feel defensive about a simple question. New phones are usually rooted within days of being released but it has been a month since the s10 release and nothing. I think it's natural that there would be people like me wondering what's going on. I'm curious about the reasons as to why nobody managed to do it yet...

or they have to make sure its stable and app updates dont corrupt it and brick the phone, else they have people whining it bricked their phone even though theres the standard disclaimer about not being responsible for tears and nuclear war, which a lot of folk do not read. The abundance of help I bricked my phone threads has any relevance to it.

I think the OPs question was more about is there something special that makes the s10 hard/impossible to root since it's taking much longer than usual. I did not feel his tone being "get to it you lazy devs" so people need to chill and stop being offensive thinking they are defending/helping devs by being jerks. We have enough SJW in the world right now...
I wouldn't be worried for root being released eventually, since the official magisk Twitter showed a rooted s10, so it's probably coming. Maybe it's taking long to make sure it's stable and not bricking devices as others mentioned.
The real problem for it taking long to release is that scammers find the opportunity to make money from innocent people and brick their devices, since Google search for s10 root is full of them.

Omg. Most people do that in their spare time and don't charge money for it. I'm pretty shure you have not donated to john wu. If you would follow his work e.g. On Twitter you would know what he is working on atm...

Well firstly this is about twrp recovery, not magisk.
Secondly donate to basically buy a device for someone. Lol nah. It's a hobby yes and also an expensive one. I purchase all my devices outright but don't come crawling up to people to help pay for it. I work hard for my money!
Lastly, assumption is the mother of all f ups. You don't know my history with John, many years ago I helped him before magisk times.

You work hard for your money, but others developing stuff you will use should work equally hard but for free ?

I dont usually comment on such statements because it's just a **** show and has nothing to do with what should be discussed in such forums. But i cant stand it. I also work hard for my money but if something is given to me for free, be it twrp be it magisk be it whatever I would not dare to ask for eta, to demand, to call something lame. Do it yourself if you have such a rich history, i could not care less about.

Urm did not even mention ETA. Just noting an observation. And quite frankly couldn't care less about your assumptions either. Have a good day now
For US users there won't be TWRP until a unlocked bootloader happens which I doubt from reading around. The better option is if you're an international user and have access to buying the Exynos version, it will have the option to unlock the bootloader in the dev options. At that point it's just porting TWRP. It's a fairly new device so I don't expect anything for a few months. If you NEED TWRP or NEED root get another device.

I don't know which phones the OP is referring to that are rooted and have recoveries within days of release but those phones are not usually Samsung flagship devices and especially not Snapdragon variants. I too am old school in that it's pretty arrogant to ask for something when you have such feeble knowledge of what is involved in creating it. BTW... the Note7 got root but not the unlocked bootloader that would allow development to really take off. Samsung doesn't give two squats about the couple of hundred people for whom Viper is a necessity that ranks with breathing and eating. They care far more about the corporate and government sales, customers who don't want to see their phones hacked.
The ****show will really start if root is available and the dozens of people who can't follow directions start "bricking" their phones.
