Hello!
Previously had the HTC Sensation XE and am now migrated to the HTC one
On the ONE all contact pictures are displayed pixelated. All the apps, which should solve the problem do not work. Also, I turned off the sync with Google without success.
Do anyone have any advice or a solution?
cheers
PS: On the Sensation Xe all contact pictures were displayed without problems!
If you have the contact photos stored on your phone then re-choose them one by one it will solve the problem.
Some of my contacts I synchronised them from their facebook accounts and their photos were clear but the ones synchronised from Google were not
Hope this helps.

If you don't sync, then that is the issue.
Because the resolution of the screen is high, HTC made it display the low-res images with the pixellated look. When you sync the contacts with facebook or google then the high-res images are downloaded and displayed without the pixellation effect

I can only say that this is what happened for me. When I synchronized, then the pictures became clear.

This happens when the contact pic are of low resolution..try manually putting a new contact image for someone..and check it then..it will be clear..not pix-elated..
this is a well known issue with google, if you attach a picture from your gallery the resolution will stay. after sync with google, the picture gets downsized and resulting in low res pictures. had this issue with my past android phones and it's all over the net. some pics will "retain" their quality, but not as much as attaching pictures for the first time, you can see low res pictures when you click the contacts and see them in circles. hope this helps :cyclops:

I cant get the phone to stop automatically selecting photos it deems highlights from any album on my phone.
I uncheck the highlight from custome albun it was moved to, delete it from highlights album... Within the hour the phone has added it back in.
Please God someone help... This is a GIANT PRIVACY ISSUE

If I'm correct it highlights the pictures you click on (view) the most it's not a privacy issue since it doesn't even transmit the data to HTC or anyone else. It happens to me too from time to time.
So a highly connected device moving files from a protected location to a shared location by itself is not a privacy issue?

It doesn't move the location of the picture, it just links it to a folder in the gallery for quick viewing access. That's all.

I see what big is talking about though. If someone is looking at his phone, someone might see pictures they weren't intended to see that would otherwise be hidden from view.

Then un highlight them? If you say it keeps highlighting photos you don't want to be highlighted then it'd probably be a good idea to go into settings>apps>all>media storage and clear the data from it, as well as the gallery app. Then do a reboot and let the gallery settle
This also drives me crazy. I'm constantly un-highlighting my photos and there's no way to turn that feature off

BTW I completely deleted the highlights album. 2 days later it had rebuilt itself, and pulled photos on my phone again from wherever it liked.

This.
I did this on my first day. In the settings of the gallery app, go to hide albums, and check the albums you want to hide.
This is actually a cool feature and it's even cooler that you can opt out of it. I see no privacy concerns at all. If someone is looking at your pics, your entire gallery is there for them to flick through.... unless you are seriously concerned with someone knowing which pictures you look at most frequently... in that case, don't let people get to your phone.
EDIT: I just realized how angry my post sounded... that was not intentional. I hope I didn't come off as a jerk!
Does the highlight album take up storage space?
This is a privacy issue...My highlighted photos go up on Twitter. I don't even post any personal pics on Twitter, or face book.
I'm very pissed with this auto feature. If I wanted someone to see them I'd post them.
How do u permanently turn it off. ????
Hi, this is my first time to use android. Coming from BB OS and IOS, I have no problems linking my social media friends list on my phone's contacts... But with Xperia Z3C now, profile pics on my contact list is blurred. Pic is not cleared. I asked the store on where I bought the phone and I was told that this is normal for Android phones? Is this true? If not, how can I improve the clarity of profile pics on my contacts list (linked from social media apps.)
Thank you!

Hi All,
I got the Nexus 6 a few weeks ago and I like it pretty well though I'm having a hard time figuring out how to work it lol. One major thing I'm not understanding - it seems to have no picture storage in the phone itself that I can find. Is this correct? There's no "Gallery" or anything - all I can get into is my google photos. Which would be okay I guess except that not everything saves to Google Photos. For example:
Last night I took a picture with the camera app I use (Camera 360) and edited it in another app (don't remember which one - it was an in memory pic so I just needed to add some text). Anyways, I saved it and it said it was saving to the phone, however, it's not anywhere in the google photos. I couldn't find it anywhere. But then when I went to Facebook it popped up in my options to upload a photo. So it has to be saving somewhere!
I also have a lot of issues with photos from Camera 360, Instagram, FB, and other apps doing the same thing - they'll show in my FB options or if I click within the Camera 360 app on the preview area but they don't show in Google Photos or anywhere else on the phone.
Can anyone explain this to me please?
Thanks!

Did you set Google Photo`s to backup all pics and video`s in the cloud? Have you checked /sdcard/DCIM/Camera/?

No. I don't really use the cloud. I want to be able to access everything physically on the phone if possible but I'll look into that too.
I thought it didn't have an SD card slot so how to I check what you said at the end there? If there's no SD card then how would it be saving to an SD Card? Sorry... I'm not the brightest with this kind of thing.

Get a file manager from Google Play and look for /sdcard/DCIM/Camera and your pics etc should be there.

Okay thanks! So what do I do then? Do I just use that file manager going forward every time I want to access my pictures? What I'm trying to figure out is how I can view/display/transfer my photos going forward. Should I download a gallery app?

I actually had that on my last phone and liked it but there was a weird glitch on my old phone where it wouldn't let me delete anything. Even if I deleted pics from the phone gallery they would still show in QuickPic. Then if I tried to delete them in there it gave me a weird error. I could probably try it on the new phone again here though!
I did download the file manager and that seems like it will work perfect.

Isn't there is device folder at the left side of the menu in the google photo app. I usually find all the picture there, screenshoot and stuff like that.

Do consider backing it up to the cloud. That way, if your phone dies or gets lost/damaged, you won't be stuck trying to figure out how to recover your pictures. Google Photos app gives you unlimited storage for your photos (just don't choose "original resolution"). The photo/video will still be there on your phone, but will have a backup on the cloud.

Yes, I do the same. Tap the menu icon on the left side of Goole Photos App, and then tap "Device Folders",
This will show OP all the local camera photos in DCIM, as well as any screenshots/downloads, etc

Hmm. I'm confused. Maybe I do this and just didn't know it was called the cloud? Right now my photos from my last like 4 phones are in my "Google Photos" and I can access them all on any phone I've had, on the computer, etc. So they're already stored in Google Photos?

Go to photos.google.com and sign in with your google account. See if your photos are showing there. If yes, then you are good - they are being backed up. You can verify the settings in the photos app on your phone too - settings/backup and sync. Verify that it is on, and that upload size is high quality (or you can choose original - but that will not be unlimited)
Is there a way to increase the quality of the contact photos in Android 6? I've noticed when I receive a phone call, through Google Hanouts especially, the photo quality is HORRIBLE! Very, very pixelated.
Are there any tweaks or add-ons to fix this?

what size photo did you use? if you use a tiny photo, it'll look like that, as it is made larger. use a large photo and it looks decent. the size of the photo is its quality.

The original photo was 2340 × 4160, then the OS cropped it to size when adding it to the contact, so I don't know what size it ended up being. It seems like the majority of the contact photos look this way. It's very rare for one to actually look good.
Maybe the trick is to pre-size them to the right aspect ratio, then select it as a contact photo so no cropping is needed?

2340x4160 is, or should be, fine. all the contact photos I see on my phone appear fine, but I only added mine(and its fine as well).
If you're rooted and use xposed framework work you can download a module called "Clarity", and that's its main purpose is to increase the quality of contact photos. I use it myself and it works great.

Just installed it the other day, from the XDA Thread that the app points too, it shows as development had stopped on it. Plus, from what I could gather, it only "enhanced" the Thumbnail portion of the contact display, not the full screen contact that shows up when someone calls.
Bummer.
Try adding the pic on a computer and sync via Google. This used to be an issue for a long time on Android, but Google did finally fix it awhile ago.

I can't tell how to fix it but I've noticed the following:
1. When someone from my contact list calls my Google Voice number, Hangouts displays a very pixelated contact image. It's like Hangouts took the small/low-res thumbnail from the chat/SMS section and scaled it all the way up instead of using the full res image from Contacts.
2. On the other hand, when I receive a direct Hangouts call or video call, the caller's contact image is perfectly displayed.
