[Q] Big problem! - LG Optimus 4X HD

Okay so I was using EPRJ CM10.1 rom with kholk's 3.4 kernel. It was all good until yesterday, when suddenly mobile data stopped working totally (I did not try anything funny btw). Usually a reboot does the trick, but this time, the problem persisted through numerous reboots and it never recovered. So I decided to do a factory reset, no change. Do a reflash of kernel, no change. Do a reflash of ROM, no change. At the setup wizard after I keyed in my google account, it showed
"Couldn't sign in
Can't establish a reliable connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your android device may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care." no matter with mobile data or wifi.
I have tried flashing other ROMs and kernels but this problem persisted. I'm afraid I might need to follow their instructions and call customer care.. Does anyone have a possible solution? I tried flashing firmware, but it just won't flash as the application hangs after 'launch software upgrade' is clicked.

Every Linux system (which the android is based on) has a kernel ,, every kernel has its own modules (A loadable parts that is loaded every reboot ,, located in /system/lib/modules ,, with extend of *.ko) .
One of these modules is the WiFi module . and this MUST be compatible with the kernel . So your problem is related with that module .
You can try flash a custom ROM ,, Then the kernel .
Because the ROM.zip contains the modules while the kernel.zip contains the kernel with its modules . the kernel.zip will replace your current modules with its own modules .
Or you can simply reflash your phone

Flashed in all sequence possible, still same problem. One thing is, when I bypassed the setup, wifi was able to work to connect to the internet, but mobile data still doesn't work.

Like I've stated I'm unable to flash firmware. The program stops responding after unpacking KDZ. Tried reinstalling everything, drivers and all but no change.

Try LGFlash Tool (I'm getting tired of repeat myself...).
But the .kdz flash program can stop for several reasons not related with the phone.
Read the tutorial again, maybe you miss some step. Happends sometimes...

All of that I did

For me, LG flash tool doesn't have action mode, so I can't use it. I've already memorized the procedures... googolchecked the tutorials... nothing was missed. It's really weird.

Listen, if you can't make LGFlash Tool works, it will be a little hard to rollback...
Sometimes the tool don't work because something is missing on the computer. Last issue that I know was because
the user didn't have Visual C++ installed... (at least that was reported...).
I don't know if its really needed cause I have it because of Nero Burning... but, having LG PC Suite installed should be
enough.
You tried other computer?
Or you can try LG PC Suite in "mergency & recovery" mode, if it stops before finish the process, start "UpTestEX_mod2_marwin" and
flash with .kdz ( I made it once like that...).
Good luck on that.

I tried it on another machine and flashing KDZ worked. Then a factory reset did the trick. Thanks for your suggestion!

[GUIDE] How to Install Ice Cream Sandwich on your Rogers P925 (Or fix baseband issue)

Well, after a TON of work, and unsuccessful attempts at getting this, I finally was able to get signal and working data on my phone. I know some people had had trouble with the process, so I'm going to post my guide here to help you all out.
There are two parts to this tutorial. Only one is needed, however, to get ICS to properly work, so find the one that fits your current predicament AND ONLY USE THAT PART OF THE TUTORIAL.
If this is your first time installing the ICS rom...
Follow the LG flashing tool guide that XBSall has linked in his ICS Rom post. You can also find it at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1244490 . However, when you install the ROM, DO NOT USE THE .FLS FILE HE PROVIDES. Instead, download the v18A baseband and install that one with the .BIN file he provides. You can find the v18A baseband here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338383 I believe. After you flash the entire thing, you should have ICS! Easy!
If you have the ICS Rom installed now, but have no signal...
This is a bit more complicated, but still very easy. After I flashed ICS, I was not able to flash things using LGFlashTool like I could in GB. This is how I ended up flashing the baseband to fix my issues.
We need to set up your phone to connect with LGFlashTool first. To do this, use XBSall's restore to GB method, located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942836 . You will need the OMAP4BOOT files, but you will need nothing else.
Follow his tutorial up until step 6. When he tells you to insert the battery, insert it AS FAST as you can. I messed up on the timing the first few times. Once I saw a greyscale LG logo, and a few other times it just booted normally. Just try again if this happens. Eventually you will get the screenshot in step 9. DO NOT remove the cable when OMAP4BOOT tells you to, as well.
Follow step 10 and 11 of XBSalls restore tutorial, and then follow step 12. When you set up LGFlashTool for the reflashing, simply select the v18A baseband to flash and then start the process. If done correctly, Port 1 should state READY. Repeat steps 3-9 in his tutorial. It will start the flashing process. Once you get an error, close the program, and remove your phones battery and disconnect it from your computer.
Turn on your phone, and receive signal. PROFIT.
Hope this helps you guys out a bit, and remember to hit thanks if this helped you.
you beat me to it lol I was just about to post steps just like this

still no signal... ill try again... atleast closer to fixing... attached is the error im getting... when i go into About and check the baseband it still has V30
EDIT: When into System Settings > About Phone > Software Information ... it is showing the following information.
Baseband Version: XMM6260
Software Version: LGSU760-V30b-OCT-18-2012
Can anyone help? The guide dosent show you how to install the OMAP4430 drivers, but i found out myself how to do it so whatever. Problem is, now "OMAP4430 USB Device" is dissappearing and reappearing over and over again when i boot with volume up. Can anyone shed some light as to how to fix this?
And my phone isnt bricked, i can turn it on right now and everything.
EDIT: Found the problem, you need to hold VolUp after OMAP4430 pops up. Funny, it says in the guide to let go when it pops up. Fixed my mistake though.

Now, I can't get it to boot in fastboot even using OMAP4boot I don't really understand when I need to insert fast the battery... OMAP4boot doesn't seem to get my phone...
You will always get errors as these are not full kdz files. If you are stuck at lg logo..try pull batt replace then hold vol- and power button til you see a factory reset screen do reset and boot..that made mine boot.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear enough, but my phone boots now, it's only I had to flash it with the O3D fls file and not the .fls I was supposed to use so I get a working ICS without any network.
Now that i'm trying to complete step 2 to get te right baseband, i can't get the phone to boot in download mode even using OMAP fasboot flash. the software just don't say anything appart from "waiting for phone".
So I was wondering if I was doing anything wrong

I may have misconfigured one port but i do NEVER NEVER at all in the process see OMAP4430 device in my device manager.. so the little windows tool is not doing anything... maybe if someone wanna teamviewer they can see for themselves what it gives.
Wahoo, ICS + network
finally found that there was the correct driver for my computer in the omap4boot folder and not in everyother one I was installing, flashed with the guide after i found this driver and everything works fine
only thing i'm struggling is to set apns to get 3G any tricks?
Do a Google search for AT&T 4G APN (or whoever our carrier is). You can also create an APN with the word "phone" in the first two blanks, name and APN (I think), and it should give you access to 3G and HSPA. I hit 6.7mbps on Speed Test.

[Q] Stuck on logo first, then no APN, now can not replace ROM

Hi everyone, I really need your help. I have basically bricked my phone but it is not beyond hope as some things seem to be working.
What I did:
I used ROM Manager to boot into a boot screen. I was very turned around and confused and I did not have Clockwork Mod on my CM9 phone, as I thought and I'm really not sure why I thought this was the right thing.... In that boot screen I flashed a TWRP recovery file (http://goo.im/devs/tonyp/P990-stuff/TWRP).
What happens now:
I get a white logo and then the phone turns "on" but on is only a white logo with a little splash of purple behind it (like 2cm long). This "on" state the touchscreen is sensitive insofar as if you touch it when it dims the brightness will jump back up again. That's it though. If I plug the phone into the computer (win7) the pc will ding ding and sometimes it says it installed properly, sometimes not, either way it does not show up in My Computer as a device. If I run SmartFlasher on the pc and plug the phone in (in S/W Upgrade mode which it appears able to do), SmartFlasher will detect the COM Port.
What I already tried:
I tried to use SmartFlasher to flash a stock ROM I found (http://www.modaco.com/topic/350555-lg-optimus-2x-stock-rom-update/) but I received a very non-helpful error that just says "type mismatch error". I tried another file, can't remember what it was or where I found it, but I got the mismatch error also. I also tried to update the phone via the LG Mobile Tool. It finds the phone, installs drivers, etc, even lets me open the update thing but then during the process it says it can not communicate with the phone and it is aborted.
Any ideas?? I can't afford a new/used phone... There must be some way to salvage this...?
Use this tool to solve your problems http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737 ..... And as you have the old bootloader, so make sure you flash all files for old bootloader only and not new one....
And also make sure to read the instructions given in tool manual...

Ok...so I had to do a LOT of stuff w/n that tool that did not work before I managed to get anywhere...but I got somewhere! yay!!
The phone now boots into TWRP v2.5.0.0. The next step is to flash a ROM because there is no o/s installed. Before I go any further I'd like to know, should I use the stock ROM or should I use the files from ParanoidAndroid 2.6 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097807 -- the link you gave me the other day).
Stock ROM sucks..... Use Paranoid Android... You won't regret it ...

Unfortunately more problems lol I was able to get it on there without problem. However I can not connect to my cell provider. The APN listing is blank and even if I manually enter and select save it does not save it, the list stays blank.
So, next I tried the most stable release of CM just to get this f'ing thing working. It went through and said it was successful but when I boot the phone up it is still Paranoid Android...which I don't mind except the APNs are still blank and my phone is still useless.
Any idea what I should do next? I tried searching for this APN problem and I tried two APN apps from marketplace, neither worked. I think the solution is to clear the phone and do another flash but that does not seem to be working...
If I remember correctly, some people had this APN problem but I NEVER had it... They solved it by manually inputting the APN... But seems you are having some weird problems as it doesn't even save the APN.... Try again inputting APN manually and save it properly ..... If it doesn't save then try CM 10.1 from link I gave earlier.... That is also a cooooool and smoooooth ROM with many more features ....
And make sure you install a new ROM only after a full wipe and also system format after taking backups of your apps, etc obviously ....

When I tried to install the newest stable CM I did do a full wipe (according to the TWRP v2.5 ). That's why I don't know what to do now. I can't seem to get Paranoid Android off / change to a different ROM.
Any ideas?
Okay so I have put 3 different versions on now and they all look and work great...except no cell connection, no apn's. I saw some people fix this by replacing their BB via smartflash but I can not do that because I get timeout errors. Smartflash doesn't work at all. Neither does the LG Update tool from w/n that toolkit. The only thing that does work is flashing zip from sd card and changing the recovery image via adb in that toolkit. I can not find any methods of replacing the BB except via Smartflash.
If you get timeout errors in smartflash, then do this trick.... When you click "Start" in smartflash and the flashing process starts then immediately pull the battery back inside phone and then you shouldn't get timeout errors ..... This always works for me.....

I live in Canada, my provider is Wind Mobile. This was originally a T-Mobile phone from the US. I bought it used, it was unlocked and running an older version of CM. The actual model number is P999DW
For convenience I just want to recap the issue:
I'm open to ALL ideas! On the all in one toolkit that I downloaded from the first reply only a few options work. The LG Update Tool and Smartflash...whether using them via the AIO toolkit or just using them independently always error out with some sort of communication based error. I can repartition and change the recovery image but that seems to be the only options that work from AIO toolkit. My understanding of the problem is that there is no, or an incorrect baseband file. The phone is behaving almost like a tablet. It won't search for networks and it doesn't even give me a SIM error, it's just not looking for it at all. I have formatted sys and repartitioned and wiped and re-flashed several different ROMs (Paranoid Android, stable CM, tonyp CM 10.1, etc) but this problem remains.
What? Do u have a P999? I'm not sure, but I don't think that P990 ROM will work correctly on it... In fact it shouldn't even install as the updater script checks whether the phone is P990 or not.... And if it isn't then it should show error and not flash the ROM... Did you change the updater script line to P999 instead of P990 to make it work...

I didn't do anything different. The P999 is just the T-mobile version and P990 is the International/Rogers/etc version. It was previously running CM so I don't really think that is the problem. http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/37457-p999-vs-p990/ The only errors I am getting are communication errors between the PC and the phone...not version related errors.
I would happily put the stock P999DW kdz file on if I could but the only method I know to do that (LG Update Tool via that AIO toolkit) does not work because it is timing out.
Okay so everything on my phone before and also now says it is an Optimus 2X. I started searching after your last comment and does this mean I have a Optimus G2X? F'd up...even the battery says it is a P990 Optimus 2X. Gonna see if I can find any NVflash ROMs for that one since nvflash method is working.
Use this link to download latest Official firmware for your phone
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=[IMEI]
Replace [IMEI] with your IMEI in the link...
OR
Download firmware from here ... It also gives list of official links .... There are P990, P999, SU660,P990HN firmwares with different countries listed...
http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=3
Try to flash it as KDZ (or) extract .bin & .fls files from it using AIO Toolkit and then Smartflash those two files ... If you want to flash only baseband then .fls one is the baseband ....
I'm telling to do this because it may be possible that you are trying to flash wrong KDZ or wrong baseband and that's why, may be, you are not able to do it ....
If you flash v30 firmware then your bootloader will, most probably, be changed to new one .... So consider that in mind also before flashing .....
Or a better solution ..... Natalya said that he/she might be knowing the solution to your problem... So try to consult for that also....
Again, there is a dedicated development for P999 also on CyanogenMod apart from P990 http://get.cm/?device=p999 ...

You just got a bit ahead of me in writing this comment ... I couldn't see it before writing my reply .... So one of the methods for confirming your phone is to look beneath your phone battery on the phone and another is to go to the first link I gave above and insert your IMEI also there in the link and then see what firmware download link LG returns .... Phone model will be also written in the download link, so you can check there also....

[Q] Reboot serious problem

Hi friends, since 1 month ago every time that I reboot my my O4x this one lost all information, for example, If I unistall a aplication, take photos, etc etc everything I do, I lost when I reboot it and I can`t enter to recovery mode. I have installed vanir rom 4.3.1. I tried flash a stock rom, but doesn`t work. I`ve been reading all thread but looks like anybody had have my problem. I appreciate if someone help me, I been trying everything , but nothing works.
What do you mean with "I tried flash a stock rom, but doesn`t work"
What error do you get? Why can't you enter recovery? Which recovery?
What was the last thing you did before this problem appeared?

I mean, I tried flash a lot of roms but no ones works, the installation always stoped in the same place, and I finally could installed completely a rom (V10A) but when my device reboot after installation, I realize that doesn`t work, my 04x still has vanir room =( .I tried to enter in recovery mode pressing vol- + power, rebooting in recovery mode in vanir power off option and via ADB, but no ones works. I had installed CWM recovery.
The last thing that I remember was installed lucky patcher to patch poweramp. I tried to unistalled it but when I reboot my devices, this one appears again. My devices works, but a lot of apps stop working while I use the phone, like line, whatsapp, swiftkey, google app, wifi and camera doesn`t works, or work sometimes, I lost all sms, missed calls, chats conversation, etc etc when I reboot my devices, is a pain in ass =(, I hope you can help me to fix it, regards!
It sounds like your whole internal partition is set to only read and not write....
You should try to flash stock kdz using the lg support tool (not flashing through recovery)

What's the problem with flashing process using mobile support tool? What errors do you get? Btw use the official mobile support tool, not the ones you download to flash custom KDZ files (such as older versions)

I just try to upgrade software by lg mobile sopport tool, but the installation stopped at 21% and say "upgrade stopped due to an error".
I bought my o4x online, and I live in Australia now, and the problem is that this mobile doesn`t exits here, so when I have to choose a country and a language I don`t know what is the properly one, I choose hong kong because my phone is from hong kong, What language I should choose?, cheers.

Well try the unbricking guides on the internet.Flashing process using unbricking steps might be able to help you fix the issues with internal storage.Check the third post on this thread for example, the same thing happens with them.Flashing process stops at 21%.Maybe your phone is bricked in a weird way that it can boot but can't write to internal storage due to software errors.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043847
I had bricked my phone once, used that exe mentioned in OP and it worked for me.Good luck

Can't flash, update, add account, connect to computer

So my tab 8.9 has been working flawlessly, with a bit of a anomaly and I factory reset to trying to install a new rom on it.
After a factory reset, I could not do the following:
Can`t install any new apps (The play store is nowhere to be found, only very old market is there which doesn`t work
Can`t update (Computer won`t recognize, yes installed and reinstalled kies, samsung drivers, etc none worked. Tried wifi, changing ip settings, all doesn`t work: It shows up as Modem and I can`t do anything with it)
Can`t add account (After resetting many times, it never asks me to add an account like it normally should, nor can I add them manually. No workaround that worked so far, tried adding via email adding, etc, on setting button add account does nothing)
Can`t flash (Odin, CWM both doesn`t work, Odin says not supported and CWM just crashes before it even starts, Can`t flash via PC as I cannot connect to it)
It CAN connect to wifi, run the old stock browser, and transfer apps apk via USB connect port I have. Thankfully it still works. I connect a thumb drive to the tab and transfer files that way.
So how can I fix this
I would just like to flash ICS of any version OR even just make it work normally via stock update.
On a side note, I`m not sure if all tab does this but mine when I`d try to connect to a wifi at a college, it`d show multiple wifi and won`t connect to any, while my laptop shows just one wifi.

you mentioned that your tab's model is SHW-M305W
so this probably why you can't install any ROM
ammmm you know what I actually installed a stock Samsung P7310 framework on my P7300 through odin
but couldn't install P7320's ROM cuz P7310 is closer to my tab in everything
my point is if you'd like, you should try different ROMs for different models
BUT BE CAREFUL THIS MIGHT BREAK YOUR DEVICE, I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE
have you tried to flash this ROM [ROM][ICS][STOCK][P7300/P7310][LQJ/LPV][Deodexed/Odexed] Final Build [14/1/14] D-Host
I'm suggesting it because it doesn't have model check before flashing, so you won't face status 7 while installing

I see!!! Thanks for the best answer ever. Good to know someone knows about this.
I tried to flash that exact one but I couldn't even start because Odin or CWM or PC method doesn't seem to work.
I searched but I couldn't really find a way to flash via just factory reset or from a usb stick.
How could I flash? Odin says unsupported version, telling me to do something I forgot for half an hour and rom manager just crashes on start.
I'll do that as soon as I can find a way to actually flash just via factory reset perhaps.

Uhh, Well I just installed it via rooting and then downloading superuser apk and rom manager apk and then loading it on to USB stick
then I installed the app but it seemed to crash.
It was the latest version of the rom manager or what the quick google search showed me.
I'm starting to think that it must be this SHW model's fault that it's not responsive to any conventional method.
I really would try to flash some other way if you or anyone could tell me how, that'd be excellent because it seems the only methods of flashing new roms on it seems like Odin, CWM, PC.
Thank you as always for even remotely giving any attention at all. I greatly appreciate it and I'd do it for you.

omg I'm so sorry for the late reply and I see that your account is disabled??
Hopefully I can get some response oh man.
I don't know any way to flash, if you could give me a way to flash these ones, I'll try them.
Odin says incompatible and rom manager crashes
If you could link me a way to flash somehow, I'll apply that method with your referred roms
Thanks a LOT

Can't flash stock ROM, phone show only S/W Upgrade

A month ago I've upgraded to V20B using KDZ with this excellent tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723, and everything worked fine till yesterday, when suddenly all mobile connectivity lost, as if there was no sim card installed.
I tried various solutions from the web before flashing my phone to CM-10.1.3-p880, which was great for me, but alas, still no mobile networks and data. I then tried to flash back to Stock ROM, again using KDZ update, and I don't know what went wrong, the outcome was that now the device shows only "S/W Upgrade" screen and no more. I tried to flash several times using also Lg Flash tool, but every time it fails after 10% of the download process. I also tried everything on a different computer.
Plz help..
Thanx
You can try recover your phone with LGMobile support tool, without kdz flashing. In LG program in options you have entry update recovery, click it and follow instruction. I hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply.
It didn't fix it either.
Failed at 10% of the upgrading proccess.
i've seen like 3-4 people in the past month on the forum have this same problem (its like imei gets wiped), and all have issues reflashing. quite strange indeed. i don't have any tips for you other than to try reflashing via kdz flasher/another tool again and hope for the best
Try on another computer, this might helps. Do it on PC not on laptop on rear usb port.

Happened to me something similar today, but with the difference that I still have my IMEI and that I still can surf the web using 3G. Also my baseband version shows LGP880AT-00-V20a-234-XXX-MAR-26-2013 and right now I'm on latest CM11.
My problem is that I can't make calls, when I try to do so, I get "Mobile network not available". Also people can't call me and I can't send or receive SMS (haven't tried MMS btw).
I've also gone under "Settings -> Mobile networks -> Network Operators" and when I choose my network operator or select "Choose Automatically" I get "Can't connect to this network right now. Try again later".
Strange enough, in the quicksettings tiles I can see my network operator's name and the bars are full.
I was on Vanir 4.4.2 when this first happened. I have flashed already a few ROMs (like cm10.1.3, Zaiben, CM11) trying to solve this problem and all of this happens in all of them (clean flashed every single one of them). Also tried to restore with CWM some nandroid backups that were working previously and all of them are giving me this same error.
In "About phone -> Status"
I do have a signal strenght, which makes me think the antennas and the sim card are working correctly
Mobile network type: UMTS (I'm in Portugal)
Service state
Voice: Out of service (I believe the problem is somewhere hidden here)
Data: In service
Mobile network state: disconnected (this seems weird to me too, regarding the fact that I have data connection)
And like I said before, my IMEI and all the rest are correct.
I haven't tried flashing a KDZ due to all these reports of "soft bricking" their devices.... Don't know what to do... Any ideas?
Don't know If I shall provide a logcat or a dmesg... If so, when shall I take it?
Thanks in advance and sorry for crashing this thread...
what you described seems like ril crash issue, and ril doesn't connect you to network properly after that. the link in my sig may help you
edit:
just re-read your post, you are 100% sure it also happened on stock-based rom (zaiben)? if so, it may be that something different is wrong. try toggling airplane mode on and off when your issue happens and tell me what happens then
