The best place to start is wth a bit more info. We wont know how to help until we know how you got here.
What ROM are you running?
What base firmware?
Has the phone always done this or only started recently?
Are there any pop-up error messages when gallery closes?
Have you tried clearing the cache ad data from the gallery app?
Can a third party gallery app (like QuickPic) access your photos?
Have you tried backing up your SD card contents and re-formatting the SD card?

Running stock with latest int firmware
It started last week, never had such issue before
No FCs or any other popups
clearing the cache ad data from the gallery app did not work
a third party gallery app works fine
I think the only other thing to try is to wipe the device clean & start over
I appreciate your support

[Q] Gallary help

Friends I have problem with my gallary it force close every time whenever I try to open it .I m unable to open my photos plz help.
could you tell ur problem in more detail .. cozz gallary app is a stock app it can be very laggy but should not force close what so ever... do you mean to say that you are not able to view the images ... or is it something else????
Yah I mean whenever I try to open gallary to view my photos it pop to force close dialogue box just after 1calphos: 1-2 sec
Here's a quick test you can try...
Unmount both your internal and external SD cards (Settings -> SD Card and Phone Storage).
Then launch the Gallery. If it opens fine, the problem is likely a corrupt image or video that the Gallery is trying to read.
davanw I done what u wrote but I didnt help actually gallary app is woeking but albums r not loading force close option pop after loading few albums even 3d gallary flikie also have same problem it also close at same point plz help
I think it's a corrupt file thats causing you the grief

yes most likely its one of the images that screws it up, remove all and then add them one by one and youll find it
Try clearing the data from the gallery app in settings then reboot.
Settings >Applications >Manage Applications >filter all, then scroll down to the gallery app and clear data.
ThanxsFriends its solved its created by flike wallpaper gallery thanxa for ur coperation

[Q] JPY is almost perfect but..

Has anyone noticed this bug with JPY?:
When you first boot and open Gallery it is super fast with all the thumbnails preloaded. After a couple of hours when you open it again it says "Loading images" and re caches the thumbnails again taking some time. This is especially evident in folders with a lot of images. It would be ok for an hour and then bam! Loading images slowly when i open it again.
Clicking on a folder opens it with the first four pics showing and then scrolling you have to wait a few seconds for the thumbnails to appear whereas when it initially booted all the thumbnails were already there. Its like it deletes the thumbnails after a while and has to generate them again which takes some time especially if you have a lot of folders and pics.
Is this normal, I don't remember this in my old firmware? Its the only thing that is bugging me. Maybe they force close Gallery after a certain time avoid the sensor draining bug that was there with the previous firmware?
Can you please check a see if yours is the same so i dont have to do a factory reset
you can download SGS tools from the markup and upgrade your gallary app.. that's what i did and i don't have any problems with the gallery anymore..
goodluck
The gallery app in SGS tool is not compatible with JPY because of the new feature of selecting wall paper for lock screen. I gave it a try but it would force close everytime i wanted to select a wallpaper.

Absolutely the same and even more.... I have my picasa account connected to the gallery too, after an hour mainly picassa the gallery crashes - black screen, but no force close. Actually this one, the battery (not 100% after disconnecting) and the contacts app not closing, made me go back to JPP.

The contacts bug can be solved by uninstalling the task manager's update.

Thanks again!

try this https://play.google.com/store/search?q=Rescan+Media++&c=apps recan media app
I tried that before but nothing happens, Thanks though
Anymore solutions?
I once had a similar problem when I deleted some gallery app thumbnail file which was 700mb large(I figured it was corrupted).
I tried to go to apps and reset the gallery app but that didn't help, you could try it though.
Reboot didn't help me either, I suggest you try it as well.
Then I downloaded a new gallery app from the Play Store and that one did work. That new gallery app triggered the media scanner or something cause when i reopened the stock gallery app it had my pictures in it again.
Go to Settings > Manage Apps, find "Media Storage" and open it, then "Force stop" + "Clear data" + "Clear cache", reboot the phone. You must wait few minutes (or more if you have a lot of photos) after reboot to see your gallery again :good:
NB : rebuilding media storage drains battery drastically, think about plugging power cable.

What gallery app? I have to use QuickPic now....the feeling of Jelly Bean is somewhat empty >.<
if you have tried to reset the gallery app, reset media storage, reboots, alternative gallery apps from Play Store and rescan app you would have forced Android to rescan for sure. The resetting of the app through your phones settings should solve any other problems since it's essentially the same as a reinstall of the app(in the sense that a cleared app is the same as a freshly installed app)
If none of that worked I would advice to flash the newest nightly, if you already have the latest nightly just wait for a new one. It can't hurt to update CM10 so it's always worth a try. Clearing the cashes in CMW is also a good idea if you are running out of ideas.
Btw, if you take a picture, does that picture show up in your gallery? Cause if it's a media scan problem it would still show any new pictures taken with the phones camera. If it DOENST show new pictures you got a more complex problem and you might just want to try and make a Titanium Back-up and/or nandroid backup and see if a factory reset or other ROM fixes your problem.

Hey thanks, I think is i would just wait for the latest nightly hoping it would solve the problem, and yes, new photos showed up in my gallery. But when I clear data and force stop the media storage, the new photos wouldn't appear anymore.
So I solved it!!!
Solution:
Delete all photos captured using Camera360.
Optional:
Delete all camera360 user files.
I have no idea why but it shows up after that.
Cheers!!!

[Q] Deleted Photos Reappearing?

Anytime I try to delete a photo, it reappears within a pretty short window or after reboot in my gallery. I have tried clearing data/cache for the gallery app, rebooting immediately afterwards, and this issue persists. Anyone else having this issue, or have any idea how to stop it? It also seems that when I try to move photos into different folders (on the SD card) they never show up in their new destination.

[Q] Album constantly crashing

Hi everyone,
First post here. I did a search for this problem but couldnt find anything...
Purchased this phone a couple of weeks ago. So far pretty good, battery life is great but one problem my handset has is that the Album constantly crashes. Every single time I open the album, within 5 seconds it will give the error message, "Unfortunately, Album has stopped". I've restarted the phone, installed all the updates and its getting very frustrating now. I cant even keep the album open long enough to send a picture via whatsapp. I've tried installing QuickPic but for some reason it hasnt 'transferred' all the media that I have and it seems most programs use Album by default.
I've attached a screenshot of the problem (which I somehow managed to upload before the 5 second mark and error came up again).
If anyone can suggest the solution to this I'd appreciate it, thanks.

Thanks for the reply. It says 'All this app's data will be deleted permanently. This includes all files, settings, accounts, databases etc'. Does this mean I will lose all my pictures/videos?
Also there are two 'clear data' options, one for storage and one for cache. Were you referring to one in particular, or both?
Thanks again.
Clear data and clear cache
From here
And no. You will lose no photos or videos which are on your internal storage/sdcard.
Thanks for the suggestion. I did lose a few pictures, but not sure where exactly they were stored.
The crashes stopped for a few hours but has since returned.
