well i am guessing u want everything..
display: GS3 display is oversaturated because of AMOLED tech..but vice versa SP display is washed out a little bit..but the last update seems to give some relief. both have over 300ppi so pixelation is hard to catch
performance: well s3 uses exynos quad core processor of sam its less powerful than a dual core processor of sp because sp uses Qualcomm snapdragon s4 pro..its a beast..
graphics: well both performs well in normal usage but sp has upper hand here because of the new GPU Adreno 320..heavy gaming is lag free on sp ..personnel exp.
laginess: S3 is more laggy than SP because touchwiz is not optimized correctly for hardware...and SP have lag but little bit u will hardly notice...
Camera: S3 has better cam than SP but its lacking stereo sound recording...and sp camera is just below avg but video recording is really good oh yes it have hdr for photos
thats it if u want to something more feel free to ask..GOOD LUCK

Woah... And considering S3 costs like $200 USD more than SP here in México ._.
And SP still isn't officially available here ._.

What are your thoughts when comparing our ace with various mid-range Xperia phones? Mainly the Xperia Pro, Xperia Neo, Xperia Ray and the live with walkman.
Of course Xperia are better!
Already set on my mind, get a Xperia smartphone next time...
Sent from my WAREZ impulses.
its not fair comparing them, because ace uses armv6 while those xperias got armv7.
when its first announce ace was better choice among low-mid end device at that time.
but now not anymore after a year and a half, its getting old.
and answering your question, yes those xperias definitely better than ace.
Ok then thanks for your replies. Imo the difference in the processors isn't an unfair variable in the comparison but rather a point to compare Plus Xperias come with a rocking UI compared to TW so yeah aiming for Xperia once I get rid of my ace
My brothers got the xperia ray and the only bad thing is the screen seems really thin.
The xperia's will be better because there newer. In 1 year's time there will phones better than them (in that price range )
ya xperias are good in specifications ... but few things i miss from my ace :
i feel its touchscreen is better than mini/pro , lww.....
its camera is rocking ... way bettter than xperia... ( except for video ofcourse)....
and they say its 720p but quality is not really 720p......

720p is a video resolution, it can has the worst quality ever, but still is 720p (720p = 720 rows, generally is a 1280x720 resolution; p stands for progressive scan)
its common misconception of all that bigger resolution=better.
what does matter and most important is camera sensor.
u can have 18mp but wilh crappy sensor it will just produce crappy quality.
my ace 5mp and live with walkman 5mp still looks stupid compared to my previous nokia n78 3.15mp with carl zeiss optics.

for video isn't a sensor issues, mid-range phones barely have enought cpu/gpu power to decode an avc video, encode ones requires almost three times more resources (an 1hr 1080p is played realtime with an [email protected], it takes 2 days to encode it), so quality is affected by the encoder limited and marked by speed/resource.
for photo, ace has one of the best cameras, in comparison to many Nokia, and, imho, superior even to the blazoned chambers of ipad 3 and iphone 4 too (too many noise and fake details even compared to 5D mark II)

Really dude? We're on XDA, anyone here wouldnt care less about the stock interface when buying a phone, it's customizable!
Xxx
I thing samsung is better ,because xperia has bad software
I think that every kind of customization if done bad makes phones slow and sometimes crap (look at how Touchwiz affect performance on the Galaxy S4). Touchwiz is insanely slow without being nothin special. Best optimized and functional interface on Android is Sense. About Xperia rom is like a Touchwiz theme with some changes and A LOT more bloatware and junk than Samsung's one (Xperia U is slower than Galaxy Ace because of the so many useless app running in background made by Sony). That's my opinion.
Again an old thread revived

hi all
i was wondering if it worth upgrade to xperia z from Lg optimums 4x, or should i keep it
lg is worse in dev support and camera in the dark can not capture a thing
Do it.
You answered your own question mate.
It's a great phone!

The sony xperia z seems to have problems, through reading and personal experience. I still think its a great phone.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
that's what worried me
the review seem to be different than personal experience as the case about my current 4x the reviews criticized the phone but it's not that bad
what about the heat issue (i'm normal user -internet, facebook, camera, music- ) and glass crack
If you don't play games this phone is amazing.

It heats up just like the S3 or any other dual/quad core cpu smartphone. You won't find a smartphone with a cpu like that which won't heat up - unfortunatelly.

unfortunatelly thats true, so today i went to the shop and try the xperia z and it was great the screen look perfect(i compare it to note 2) the touch and feel of the phone is super great and the phone it self look appealing, there is one thing the sound is bit lower than i expected.
i will buy it the end of the month, hope so! :fingers-crossed:
thank you all

As stated here, no cooling fans etc, high cpu speed packed into small bundle, very limited to disipate the heat generated. No phone is not going to head up significantly when under load, the more Cores and GHz the more heat
Hey guys I also upgraded to Xperia z from the note 2 (went for the looks, ignoring the inside cooks)...
and I also made the dealer apply a screenguard on that phone straightaway...
But the picture quality of the phone seems to be a little bad than note 2....
I compared both the phones having same pic on both the phones but note 2 seems to have sharper images....
Do I have a problem with my phone or is it like this originally.?

I got you perfectly.
Turn off Bravia engine and see what you think, I feel it affected the sharpness, I came from an S3 and think the display on the XZ is incredibly sharp.
As for the "dull" colours, it's probably because the SuperAMOLED screens in the GN2 and the S3 were very saturated compared to the LCD in the XZ, personally though, I always used my S3 in "Standard" display mode which removed much of the saturation and I'm a lot happier with the more realistic colours of the XZ.
The camera on the other hand is a different story, and I find it difficult to get photos that come close to what I could take on my S3, too much post processing I presume on the XZ, and they don't do a very good job of it.

Take into consideration the resolution of the image you are testing. This is a full hd screen so it needs full hd images to compare or it will just stretch them causing blurred.

I see, I'm afraid I can't really contribute any further to the discussion in that case. personally I think on my device it looks much sharper than my S3 did.
Does this issue show up in a screenshot? Perhaps there is some strange graphical issue with your device.
Guys so I've thoughtabout getting a new phone and its come down to these two choices xperia t and xperia SP ? which do you think is better i've used both seems pretty fluid and not laggy :silly:

Xperia T over SP
1.Better Front Camera
2.Better Back Camera
3.Great Development Support
4.Display Viewing Angles and Resolution
5.Bigger Internel Memory
Xperia SP over T
1.Latest GPU ( Adreno 320 )
2.Latest Processor ( Snapdragon S4 )
3.Big Battery
4.Comes with JB 4.1.2 So may be chance to get higher versions
In SP Battery Charging Time Is minimum 4 Hours.. I used SP for one week. After that i return that and get T...
Battery Back up is good with SP
But the Camera is Little disappointment
Display viewing angle is not good in SP
Thats all...
From My Xperia T BOND Phone

I have an Xperia TX and compared to my display, the xperia SP is TERRIBLE. I think the Xperia T would have the same display as a TX so get the Xperia T. Also 8 GB internal memory is really, really low.

@Raider_ bro
Xperia ZR is going to launch, I already heared that it will be available in Online Shops... Y dont u try That ? Its a beast...
And how about TX vs T??
XDA-Developers on T vs screen quailiy on TX. Is true taht TX screen is better that T.
And now ZR, can we expect similar price. Totally confused :\
Well first impression of my new ONE mini 2 is nice build quality and sound but again I feel it's let down compared to what Sony do with the compact range they keep the specs [emoji23] HTC choose not and again only 1GB Ram I think Min 1.5GB is a must ok slightly better cpu over orig one but not as good as S5 mini the sound is excellent but I find it a little quiet still and screen could of been better too I find it laggy scrolling and web browsing ,camera well they dropped the ultra pixel and stuck 13mp in still not the best , I'm afraid HTC build quality and sound ain't everything any body agree?? [emoji16]
I am quite disappointed with the camera, still very laggy... Sound quality is superb, with a few adjustments even better... But I would've put a bit more ram... We'll see what will happen with the Android L, when it arrives...

For me previously having the one mini its not much of a improvement , yes let's see what L brings ?
Okay so I love my xperias, there cameras are superb and I just love the devices, I normally root them to stock android though.
So I am looking at the two phones in question for camera and music, hence why I love sony, they provide both in a decent package.
So does the 8 core offer me anything over the quad core? does the adreno 405 offer anything over adreno 330 in terms of performance for games like hearthstone and for photoshop with super quick edits on the move.
I do prefer the 720p screen due to battery, for anything screen needy I have my desktop and I cant really see the difference between 1080p and 720p
What would the difference be in camera, in low light and normal, most shots will be in decent light for food shots
Anything else you can tell me and which maybe better for music and camera and some slight gaming things.
Many Thanks!!!
Z3 compact has better battery and gaming performance and a better camera. Also, it's a flagship phone.
