Last night i left my Tilt on the charger (i use my usb hub and the sync cable to charge it) and i find it this morning with a red led as if it was totally dead and needed to be charged a bit to turn on and it wont turn on at all. I read that thats a chip malfunctioning and the phone needs to be replaced. I got this device brand new and dont have my reciept and i tried calling AT&T and they say i need a receipt. Im not sure about HTC (they arent open today) but I do not want to have to fork out money to mail it to them, wait a month without it. Any ideas? Anyone had a similar situation that could help. Any help would be appreciated.
First I'd pull the battery then re-insert. If it's totally dead, I'd go to a ATT store and see if you could try a different battery. If you bought the phone from ATT I'd expect you would be on their system.
good luck.
actually i got it off craigslist (online classifieds) brand new but ive been telling the ATT stores that i won it off the net for filling out some survey for some sweepstakes and that they did not provide a receipt (pretty sure if i say i bought it from someone not retail they will deny all warranty exchanges) and they said to call AT&T service line. They said it shouldnt be a problem without a receipt but lets hope thats the case. I think i am fully entitled to the warranty as the device still carries its value, it was still purchased at one point. Lets hope they understand that
I had this happen twice actually once with my Hermes and now with my second Tilt just 2 days ago. My tilt was within 30 days of the purchase date from AT&T so I figured I could return it without a problem because I happen to be in California on vacation and I live in NY. I thought since I bought it from AT&T through their Premier site that all my information would be in their computers since I didn't have anything with me but the phone and the charger. So I went to AT&T here in Cali and told them my phone just went dead and the LED went red and wouldn't turn on. I said I was within 30 days and just wanted to exchange the phone. They said okay....BUT... I needed the receipt and of course I'm not going to have the receipt when I'm on vacation so they gave me trouble. Then I went to the nearest Kinkos and printed out the receipt that was sent to my email. I went to a different AT&T store that was closer to the Kinkos and told them what happened and they gave me trouble saying I need the Invoice that came with the phone when it was shipped to me, and there was no chance in God's green Earth that I would have the Invoice. I put up a fight and raised my voice some saying how ridiculous this was since it was already my second tilt and that I called Customer Service before hand and told them what happened and they said I could exchange it no questions asked without anything and that the Customer Service rep I spoke to put a Special Note on my account page for the instore sales reps to see (all of which is true). They saw all of that and gave me a brand new phone and took my old one.
That's my story about a similar problem so I hope it helped.
Hi peeps i purchased a Samsung Galaxy S 2 Years ago via private sale, Last week it got blocked via 3 network so i ring them up.
first they go ring the police get a crime ref number, and we will unblock the phone as we have proof that you have been using the handset via your sim.
So i ring the police get a crime ref number i give it to 3 so a few days pass the police ring me saying that why would some one put a claim in 2 years later when there contract is about to finish
i go i dont know its a bit lame isn't it. she then goes i wont put in a crime report as it dont make sense so i go ok, so then i ring 3 back up 3 go the person you purchased the handset hasn't paid his bill thats why we have blocked the handset.
So i go what options have i got 3 go none so i was wondering has this happend to anyone else if so is there a way round this as 3 do have proof i been using the handset ?? Thanks
This is why I'm always wary of buying second hand contract phones. I'm not sure there's much you can do, maybe sell it overseas, but that could be viewed as handling stolen goods.
Hope you can sort it out otherwise I guess you'll have a personal media player.
Does it matter where you preorder the HTC one from in order to take advantage of the HTC trade in offer? I ordered from Newegg but want to trade in an old evo 4g.

Nope, you just have to have a valid proof of purchase.
Awesome. Thanks couldn't resist 100 bucks for an original evo.

Would they know I haven't even uses that in almost every years? It's on their list of choices.

Ok, I feel like a complete idiot. How exactly do I go about getting the $100 for a trade-in? I have my old EVO 4G that I’d like to send back, but if I go to the following link, it says that I’m only eligible for $16:
http://www.htctradeup.com
I'm guessing that isn't the same as this offer for the One:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...h-april-26th-following-rumored-launch-delays/
Is the paperwork included with the HTC One and you send in your old phone after you purchase the One, or is there another link to go to in order to find out how to get the rebate? How do we know exactly how much we’ll be getting back from HTC since everything is saying “up to $100”?
As a side question, my brother is thinking about getting this phone and his contract is up for renewal, so can he trade a device in for this rebate as well?

No unfortunately I think this was an offer you had to sign up for about a month ago. I signed up very early and I got an email on March 18th titled "Thanks for registering for the new HTC One®" inside it tells you to goto www.htctradeup.com/htcone and use the code included in the email to recieve either the devices value according to their checker or $100 - whichever is greater.
Good luck!
Update - Ya their site says "Pre-register online (must have been completed prior to April 5th)."
So you get at least $100 plus whatever your phones worth right? And yes I preregistered.

Their main site (http://www.htctradeup.com/) will tell you how much your phone is worth if you trade it in. But if you pre-registered and (from what I've heard from others) confirmed the device you will be trading in and save your information within 30 days of pre-registering, then you will get $100 for your trade-in if it's worth less than $100 on their site.
So, for example, if you wanted to trade in a Samsung Galaxy SIII (which only a crazy person would do), you would receive a $150 visa prepaid card. But if you wanted to trade in a Sprint Epic 4G, that phone is only worth $20 on their site, but I would get $100 for it since I pre-registered and filled out/saved the required info.
Has anyone been able to get past the "save for later" button on this? Or are we waiting for the release date for you to begin the next step in the process.
Contacted HTC button won't work until 19th

You guys might read of the terms and conditions just to be aware.
http://www.htctradeup.com/htcone/?q=terms_of_use
and specifically this:

You can identify if the used device is eligible by utilizing the drop down menus to pick the make, model, and carrier for the used device. If you cannot find the make or model and believe this is in error, you can contact the program administrator at Clover Wireless. The Program is only valid within the United States. You must be a minimum of 18 years of age to participate. The Program is not valid on stolen property. There is a maximum of one (1) trade-in utilizing HTC One Upgrade promotion per registrant. My touch pro 2 will definitely not be active when I purchase my One tomorrow but I'm going to send it in any way. All it is doing is collecting dust in a drawer.
Same here I'm sending two EVO design's
That were collecting dust.
So I received my email on March 15th, but I haven't registered on the site yet because I thought i needed to wait until I had the One. Am I SOL because it has been more then 30 days?

Maybe. At first when I went on the site and entered my code from the email they sent me a few days ago it said like $30 or something for my EVO 3D. Now it says $100 when I enter that, but it says click here when you get your ONE and when I do that and reenter the number it says it is invalid.
Did we have to re-register again? Because I did this when they first announced it..

Its weird, I register for 2 lines back when they started the promotion sign up and I got 2 codes in separate emails. One looks generic code with the number 100 between the letters and the second code has different digits. If I go to the trade page the generic looking code works but it says I have to complete the trade by 3/28/13. The other code comeback as invalid.
I went to the trade in page an put in the informaiton for my evo. I then put in the code in my email and it seemed to work and gave me the "Save for Later" option. I got an email from HTC a short while ago after clicking save for later and putting my email address in. And now it says I have to pre-order and has a pre-order now link at the bottom of the page. I just planned on going into Best Buy tomorrow morning and grabbing one as I got the $50 gift card deal from them back in January. But I want my $100 from HTC.

You gotta call and complain. I do this every time I return a device once tracking shows it's been delivered and they fix it right there on the phone with me. Make sure you have the tracking number because they won't do anything without verifying they've received the device.

I shattered my screen a month after getting my phone. Living in Colombia I knew I would have to do an advance replacement fee and send the phone to my friend and his wife. They were coming to visit in a few weeks. I called support and explained to them the situation. They agreed to send a phone to my friends home and when he came to colombia I would give him the broken one. Well 4 days went by and no tracking for my phone that was supposed to be 1 day shipping. I called back and they said it would ship that day. Another day and no shipping. I call again and now they tell me they don't even have blue in stock. So they offer a white one 64 gb. Keep in mind I had 15 phones delivered to my friend to bring to me, including some iphones 6S's. My friends arrive with all my phones and well an empty box from motorola. I also notice the advance fee dropped off my credit card. So I assume with all the confusion from support over the non stock phone they did a standard replacement, which totally screws me over. So I call them after the weekend and they tell me they have to report it to fedex. Well fedex calls me and says the package was signed for, I say of course because a package was delivered. Now keep in mind this is all back from November.
So I start emailing everyone from Motorola, twitter, facebook just trying to get some real answers.
Here is the response I got today
"Hi Greg.
The news is not good. The package was shipped with a 64GB Nexus 6, and we have the serial number. Since it was signed for, FedEx is less likely to approve a claim, but that will be your best bet.
The downside is that we are going to have to charge you for the phone we sent. If you send in your broken phone we can release that hold, but unfortunately you are going to be charged for the repair cost in any event.
We've been holding this open so we can't extend this indefinitely. We are able to hold it open for two weeks -- if you can return by then we'll release the hold on the phone we sent.
- Matt"
The funny part is and I have told them a few times that there is no hold and you would only drop the hold if you sent an empty standard replacement box. They seem to ignore this comment every time. What makes it even more difficult is, Chase Sapphire was going to fix the phone but now with all this crap who knows what will happen. I googled motorola support empty box and found one other person tweet to Motorola Support with the same issue. I am curious has anyone else had issues with doing an RMA with these guys?
What do expect to gain by posting this here?

this is a long shot but call and ask Fed-ex what the actual weight of the package vs what the customer printed on the shipping label. I used to work for a logistics company here in California and we would re weigh the freight before forwarding it out of our warehouse. I know Fed-Ex international also do this but i am not sure about domestic. If you can get that information from Fed-ex it might help support your claim with moto.
Good luck, hope it works out for you.
Thanks, I'll call them again today.
