Hey guys,
I have just download 1.28.401.7 RUU to flash on my htc one.
MY htc one Product code is m7_ul and cid is htc_001 and mid is PN710000.
when the ruu is flashing it shows a error and says there is a diff. bootloader version.
What am i doing wrong??
Most likely the current version of a bootloader is newer than that which contains in RUU .To you it is necessary to flash RUU under s-off.
exactly the same ,i desperately need to get back to stock to send phone away, what can we do to to rectify this please PLEASE

You need
1) Get S-OFF
2) Change CID to unbranded one (HTC__001 for example)
3) Flash the European RUU 1.28.401.7
4) Recieve OTA to latest firmware
if you want to remain on ORANGE, it is necessary to find RUU for orange and you don't need to change CID
anyone please i need to post this phone today or at the latest this weekend,,,because i have relocked the bootloader i can not get out of fast boot screen bahhhh

Under s-off you can flash RUU and then receive OTA with unlocked bootloader.
When got S-ON you need relocked (locked) bootloader to receive OTA correctly.

For change cid type "fastboot oem writecid XXXXXXXX"
XXXXXXXX - cid to change
You have HTC__001 CID? If yes, you don't need change cid for 1.28.401.7 RUU.

To get OTAs you will need to change your mid if your going from "Tmobile" to "Dev Edition" make sure your mid and cid matches the RUU

i've noticed that htc devices have stuff like, s-off, h -boot, firmwares, CiD's etc. (NOTE: im new to htc, from recently having a Samsung phone, yes things are alot different)
So since i got my htc one i have
Unlocked the bootloader
got S-off using Revone
flashed TWRP
installed few custom roms & kernals (ARHD, TrickDroid, TeaMseven & ElementalX) all roms/kernals were 4.2.2 based
So how do i upgrade my firmware?
What are the benefits of upgrading?
What is SuperCID?

supercid allows you to install any ruu thats out as long as its gsm and your phone is gsm or cdma if your phone is cdma
So if flash super cid will I be able to flash any firmware?

You don't really need to use super CID as you have the generic HTC__001 CID.
Id flash 2.17 from here:

You can downgrade the firmware with an RUU. As long as you have an RUU for your phone you should always be able to get it back to stock.

the variant error shows up when your OS in the bootloader and Software number inside the ROM doesnt match, you need to find a compatible ROM, the ROM you are using (3.63.707.3) is for India/Asia with cid HTC__038 and HTC__044 and MIDs PN0711000 and PN0714000 respectively, what's your Model ID? can you post the results of "fastboot getvar all" excluding your Serial No. and IMEI? if you can tell me your Model ID i can suggest the compatible stock ROM reset or RUU for your phone

Found a compatible RUU from the thread you gave. But couldn't flash the RUU zip, always got different errors.
Got sick of this after 11 hours of research and stuff. I've just SOFF'd my M7 with Sunshine, revert back to 1.29 (Sense 5 and 4.1.2 ) now installing all the firmwares one by one.
Thanks for your help mate.

did you relock bootloader and use the htc_fastboot.exe? then it should have worked just fine.
anyway, S-OFF is a much better thing to have imho, and since you're S-OFF you could consider changing the modelid to PN0710000; obviously it wont give you LTE (since the hardware is missing), but would allow you to get the "regular" .401. OTAs
but guess you wont need to worry about that for the time being, since PN0711000 is also on new version now.
Hi guys,
I'm in need of some help, my beloved HTC One has fallen victim to the dreaded Purple Camera issue and I need to send it back.
I'm on HBOOT 1.56 and I need to turn S-ON back on as my phone says that my phone is a "Test Device" in bold red writing if you reset the phone and under About>Help
I don't want any warranty issues with HTC as being in South Africa, support is very limited as it is and they will find any excuse not to try fix it.
If anyone can give out any tips or advice I'd be happy to donate even.
I've done lots of Googling and tried a couple things but it's all for older HBOOT's than mine.
Please and thanks guys. :good:

ok so you'll need to downgrade your phone first because turning back s-on on hboot 1.56 will trigger the tampered flag in the bootloader.
use the 1.28.401.7 ruu with the guru bootloader reset tool
refer to this guide and follow instructions carefully. Again, do not s-on on hboot 1.55 and above, only do it on 1.44 or 1.54.

Can I go ahead now and use fastboot oem writesecureflag 3 to S-ON the device?
Just wanting to make 100% sure.

My phone still says Locked, I flashed the 1.28.401.12_hboot_1.44.zip
I haven't actually done the 1.28.401.7 RUU, Is that what I do after I flashed the 1.44 hboot?
My phone is on 4.4.2.

DO NOT GO S-ON
first run the RUU.EXE or the flash the RUU.ZIP
then we can consider s-on, with S-On you cannot downgrade!!! and you'll be majorly stuck.
let me know when you've done the ruu
PS: please follow the guide
1- remove tampered set locked
2- run / flash ruu 1.28.401.7
3- boot up once to make sure everything is OK, do NOT take OTA
4- go S-ON if you really need to

well according to his fastboot getvar all, this is not the correct ruu (MID is PN0712000) and that one is for PN0711000. I'm alsmot 100% sure 4.19.401.9 from his getvar is only referring to the custom hboot and not to his software #.
With pn0712000 he either have a google edition phone (.1700) a dev (.1540) or an at&t phone (.502).
@dragonballz2k
do you remember your original CID?

No it will not lock the phone, unless you want it locked. Post a fastboot getvar all except remove the imei and serialno and we will be able to direct you how to rebrand your phone.

I dont know if you are talking about sim unlock or bootloader unlock but anyway, both sim and bootloader will stay unlocked even if you flash another rom or if you debrand the phone.
I see
@alray Yeah I mean sim unlock, Can you post a link of a guide to install stock htc rom to debrand. Will I be able to get OTA updates? What steps are needed Unlock bootloader, s-off, change cid custom recovery and install rom? Can you link me to a stock rom with ota for europe or international version. I had a look at the first link in your sig but its kinda confusing.

If you want a full conversion, you can s-off the phone, change cid to HTC__001 and flash a x.xx.401.x RUU. Your best option to s-off on hboot 1.57 is probably sunshine s-off but its a paid exploit (25 USD) or you can try firewater, its free but it will require more steps and you have like 50% chance it will not work.
or the easier way, if you only want a debranded rom, you could only unlock the bootloader, flash twrp 2.6.3.3 and then flash a rom (like arhd 71.1)

@alray Hey I did everything and am now trying to get the right RUU for europe or international. I flashed this : RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13.3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed.exe and it seems to be fine except I am still s-off and an for some reason an option while doing the initial wizard called Tell HTC tells me this is a test device so this option will remain on. What is causing this? My device is a test device?! Wrong RUU?
Edit: I am updating the phone but it wont find the latest after every boot it finds the next. Now installing 4.3, it was 4.1.2 to begin with..

Tell HTC/test device is normal. You'll always get this message at the initial setup with s-off phones, don't worry with this.
The ruu will not turn back s-on and thats a good thing. Keep your phone s-off.

Yeah I thought it was the s-off causing this. Thanks for you reply, gonna install update after update and see if it comes up with the latest. Bit strange it doesn't install the absolute latest, but I guess the final update size would be huge to have all the fixes in previous versions in one.
