[Q] Factory Reset Question - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Hi,
I'm new and looking for help with my HTC One that was just rooted. My question is what would be erased when I do a factory reset to flash a ROM?

If you do it in bootloader everything. If you do it in recovery just the system files thus keeping the pictures and photos you already have

You can try flashing the attached file with ODIN (as PDA).
This will do a factory reset to your phone and hopefully make it boot normally.
The file is taken from the following thread so all credits go there!

it worked
Thanx very much

No just wipe data, sort of factory defaults resets.

I believe you need to flash an official rom again to remove root.
After that, do a factory defaults reset.

Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium
Well the new viper Rom already has it in the new update of the Rom just do a backup do a full wipe (download the Rom of coarse) and flash the Rom . Love the viper Rom you can't flash custom kernals yet because of the update but the Rom is rock sold and it rocks

Anyone else experiencing problems with the location services, or camera or wifi? I'm not going to worry about flashing HTC Recovery and installing this update it's going to cause problems. My phone is working fine as is.

when i did it the update installed fine, said your phone has been updated, but it didn't update the kernel for some reason, haven't figured that out yet, unless it has something to do with being unlocked, anyway the wifi was borked

I don't know why you want to take ota, but to do it properly. Lock your bootloader. Use ruu from this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40712553 Take ota. Then unlock bootloader, using the same token you got last time from htcdev.

true, i was just doing it for ****s and giggles, i think i'm going to go the viper route, see how that is.
Thanks all for the information, my phone works fine as is so I don't think I'm going to take the update until they release 4.2 for the HTC One.
At least now I know how to do it correctly so it doesn't fubar my phone

I'm still on 1.29.651.7 and my location services crapped out sometime on Friday. For me it coincided with the updated Google search. Google Now kept displaying a card after the search update saying that my location services were off. I tried wiping Dalvik/cache and even a factory reset. The reset fixed the Google Now issues, but the HTC weather app still errors stating it is unable to contact the location service.

Also, check the folder where your adb is located. It is probably there unless you deleted it after unlocking your bootloader.

[Q] recovery help htc one

hey guys i am new to rooting, unlocking, and installing custom roms, i have one problem i am bootloader unlocked and rooted but when i go to install a custom recovery, it tells me in the command window that it was successful but when i go to enter it, all i see is the htc logo and it says entering recovery but after 10 seconds on the screen the phone shuts off and does it every time, does anyone think im doing something wrong. iu really am stuck on this one and i tried to install both types of recovery.. maybe the root didnt work?????
You don't need root (super user) to flash the recovery. Try again. Make sure htc drivers are installed and the phone is recognized by the computer. Also, you may have had a bad download of the recoveries. Try downloading again. I just used the files from the sticky Q&A thread and my recovery install was very quick and painless. Good luck.

Long hold power and volume down. It should eventually take you to bootloader where you can select boot to recovery and restore a backup. If you don't have one, do an adb sideload of a known working Rom .

How to root Android L [SuperSU updated]

Hi Everyone, I just want to share this easy steps to root Android L.
Note: Android L is a Developer preview, it is not stable as the KitKat version and it is using ART runtime only, so not all apps are compatible.
Update: The v2.01 release fixes some incompatibility issues with the Android "L" Preview. There is no binary update over v2.00.

I recommend backup all your data/files in a PC, to avoid data loss. And don't blame me if you have a bootloop or stuck at boot logo.
TRY IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Boot into bootloader
For TWRP format cache first
Code:
fastboot format cache
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Boot into recovery
Flash the SuperSU-v2.01.zip
Reboot
You now have root access.

At first I had a problem with wiping the caches via TWRP, but I had to flash supersu first then wipe the caches and now everything is up and running. Great job!
Confirmed. This is working! Nice job!

Everytime I try it says that the TWRP recovery image is too large. Any ideas?
I'm guessing this is the same as the other root method, where it roots your device, but some apps still don't work as root apps?
Titanium Backup is my main concern.
