Root for HTC Butterfly S and Desire 600? - HTC Butterfly S

Anyone have any idea if there are root methods out for either of these phones yet? I have been looking around but have yet to find any threads about rooting either of the phones.

Bump... Anyone?

Bump... No one knows?

Ill be trying a couple things. Like making a custom recovery.

MotorChopper
Would a MotorChopper method work?

For root, I think you have to get HTCdev unlock from the HTCdev site, then flash a recovery (cwmtouch) from the dev thread and then flash supersu cwm flashable zip after booting into cwm recovery. Details in butterfly forum. No s-off method available though....

Problem with Hasoon2000's all in one kit

I noticed that in the most recent version of Hasoon2000's kit, when I tried to use the "APK Installer" function, a file was missing, and thus I was unable to install SuperSU Binary. If there is a fix or a work-around, it would be incredible useful if someone could tell me about it. (I am new to this place, and I can't post on the dev's thread or else I would)
I also can't post images it seems.. uggh.
I would recommend just flashing the SU package manually. If you already did the step of flashing a custom recovery, the next step is really simple.
Here's all you have to do:
1) Go into the folder of Hasoon's tool, then into Data, then into SU
2) Copy the SuperSU.zip to your SD card
3) Reboot your phone into recovery (hold pwr button and vol down as the phone powers up)
4) Choose Recovery
5) In which ever recovery you have, find the install option, browse for the SuperSU.zip
6) Flash!
7) Reboot and enjoy root
Hope that helps!
Edit: Ha! I just looked at the script for installing root from Hasoon's tool. Literally all it does is copy that SuperSU.zip to your SD card, then displays the same instructions I have above but in less detail.

If your device is unlocked and rooted (if not u can goto HTCDEV site for it) follow this step to get into CWM and install .zip files using CWM storage and mount ----USB storage
Step 1
First of all you need to Download Clockworkmod Recovery from here and extract it on your PC.
Step 2
After this using the USB Cable connect your HTC Sensation XL to the PC and copy the recovery.img file to tools folder in the Android SDK where fastboot.exe is.
Step 3
Now Boot your device into fastboot mode and open command prompt (DOS) or terminal and navigate to the folder where you copied therecovery.img file.
Step 5
Then enter the following command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
NOTE: feedback plz

[Q] Uninstall Clockworkmod

Guys any suggestion on how to uninstall CWM, want to give a try on roms using 4ext.
Lol. Its funny cuz i was thinking the exact same thing this morning.
However, its really simple. just go here. Go down to Download section and download 4ext Revocery Updater. Put that on your phone. install the application thru a file browser. Then open the application and press Online install | upgrade and it will ask for u to connect to 4ext servers. Click Do not display again and then press yes. Install the latest version. This will come in the form of a zip file and put that back on your computer.
Extract the recovery.img (dont rename it for simplicity sake) from the zip folder into ur sdk/platform-tools. Then open the Command Prompt and navigate to the platform-tools folder or alternatively just click shift right click and "open command window here" from within the platform-tools folder. Now power into bootloader and clock fastboot. It shoulds say fastboot USB. Now type into the cmd from your computer
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
and hit enter. Then ure recovery should be flashed. Boot into recovery and u should have 4ext touch reovery

Download 4EXT Updater. Download latest version of 4ext and the phone flashes it for you. Keep in mind that 4ext does not replace cwm, it just copies over it. You backups are still in the cwm folder.

Yes i did flash 4ext recovery and works like a charm. However, its just copied over cwm. I also dont think its possible to uninstall something once its flashed to your phone. its like when u flash something in the ROMs or other things like Mods from the recovery. U cannot remove it (at least from my basic understanding lol). Cuz whenever u wanna flash something in cwm it always says
Are you sure you want to flash this

Once its flashed "over the top", CWM is removed and 4EXT takes its place. Basically anything you flash on top of something else removes what was there before in that exact place. For example if you were sitting on a chair and I came and replaced you, you wouldn't be on that chair anymore, would you?
That is just a precaution because you can go wrong with flashing the wrong thing, and you can't un flash

Lol very nice metaphor!
I did this the other day and it worked fine. Just install the 4EXT app and install from there.
I installed the app and installed the recovery from there, everything working fine.

Downloaded the 4ext recovery, installed it on phone, did the online install, upgraded and installed 4EXT_Recovery_Touch_v1.0.0.5_RC9, extracted recovery image from this file put it in the android folder with the following files adb (application file), AdbWinApi.dll, boot (image file), Fastboot (application file), Unlock_code file. Connected the phone to the computer in bootloader, went to fastboot and connected it to the computer which than showed fastboot usb, went into cmd and typed fastboot flash recovery recvoery.img in the android folder with the above mentioned files with the recovery image file. Now for the past 20 minutes it is stuck at sending recovery <5466 kd>.....
Please help??? dont know what I am doing wrong???
there is other way to Flash recovery by avoiding overwriting files...I used this many time to switch between 4EXT Touch >> CWM >> TWRP...
Right click on command prompt and select 'RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR'...
Give a path of fastboot drivers... (mine is C:/android/adb) depend on ua adb driver location...
type command...
fastboot erase recovery
it will erase ua recovery (It will erase ua recovery only and only if u run command prompt as administrator)
put ua desired recovery in adb folder where u installed adb and fastboot drivers (rename it to recovery for more connivance )
type this command now...
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
it will send ua recovery to system and ua done...
Thanks but right now I am stuck at sending recovery, so if I remove cwm and than flash 4ext as you have suggested and I again get stuck on sending than I won't have any recovery...

So you are saying that after flashing 4ext, you cant boot into recovery???
Cuz i find that kinda funny considering the fact that 'flashing' means you overwrite and replace. Since 4ext is built from CWM I dont see how it wudnt be compatible. Plus our device is fully supported.
It's not that I can not boot into recovery...I cannot flash the 4ext recovery, it gets stuck at sending recovery for ages and than I have to unplug the USB and reboot the phone...

[Q] TWRP Recovery shows a different sdcard than when connected to my PC

I'm trying to follow this to root my stock ROM on my HTC One (Sprint):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173870
I unlocked my boot loader and I can boot into TWRP recovery. My problem is, I cannot find the Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip file when I'm in TWRP recovery. I downloaded that file from http://androidsu.com/superuser/ from my phone and I can see it in the Download folder but when I'm int TWRP recovery, I see a totally different list of subfolders under /sdcard:
audio
GPU
mms
TWRP
video
weather
In the YouTube video, after clicking on Install in TWRP recovery, the Download folder shows up but not in my phone. And when I connect my phone to my PC (Windows Vista Home Premium), I don't see any of the directories above under /sdcard but I see the Download and the Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip file.
I can't seem to find a solution.
From that link, on page 25, Radikaal posted a similar problem but no one has responded:
Im getting "different" sdcards when connected to computer and when in recovery, so when i connect to computer i can put in files but they won't show in recovery, only files that i put in like 2-3 days ago. Anyone got an idea why this is happening and how to fix it?
I also tried CWM (Classic and Touch) and CWM2 but all of them seem to just shut down my phone when I try to boot in recovery. At least TWRP can boot in recovery.
I've backed up all my app and data with Titanium Backup Pro which requires root so I really need to root my phone so I can restore all my apps and data from my old EVO 4G to my new HTC One.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I figured out what I was doing wrong - I was using the wrong TWRP recovery file. Apparently, there is a separate file for HTC One on Sprint USA (which is what I have).
The file I was using before was openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-m7.img but the one for Sprint USA is openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-m7wls.img (note the extra 'wls'). Once I flashed the correct recovery file and booted into recovery, it listed my Download folder and I was able to install the SuperUser image successfully. My stock ROM is now rooted.
To see if you device/carrier combination also requires a different recovery file:
Go to teamw.in/project/twrp2
Click on "Get TWRP for your device" (in the upper right corner)
Enter your phone model
For HTC One Sprint USA, the download link is:
teamw.in/project/twrp2/171
Then click on the link called "Download the newest .img file from here". Even though that link is under the "Download - ADB / Terminal method" section, you can use the same file for the Fastboot method.

How do I send SuperSU to the /sdcard/ folder?

So I'm trying to root my Sprint M7. I've succeeded in doing the following.
1. Unlocked the boot loader
2. Installed CW Touch recovery
Now I think the next step is to go into Fastboot/Recovery and install the SuperSU zip from /sd_card/
That's the step I'm having problems with. How do I get the SuperSU zip onto the /sd_card/ folder? When I plug in my phone I just get HTC Sync manager popping up and I can't browse the phone's directory because Sync Manager says the phone is not connected.
Running Win 7 64.
Thanks

uninstall htc sync (but don't touch the drivers)
boot your phone in CWM
Code:
adb push supersu.zip /sdcard
then flash supersu.zip using CWM
or easy way
flash latest twrp recovery for sprint version instead of CWM
boot in recovery and exit, you'll be prompted to root the phone before leaving twrp, select yes.
