Looking for a list of non-manufacturer-specific apps available in the Google Play store that won't install/run on the Google Nexus 7.
e.g. "Bank of America for Tablet" app.
Why would this app not work on the Nexus 7?

I have CamScanner on my DroidX.
Great app, but it needs a decent camera built into the device (which the N7 lacks).

How did you get it (Best Buy app) to become available on the Google Play Store for a Nexus 7?
I hear one needs to edit the manifest file and remove android.permission.CAMERA ?

Gotta wonder what it is about this Android app that makes it work on a Google TV (running Android) and not a Nexus 7 tablet.
I've seen Amazon Instant Video working via a PS3 (non Android) on a non-Google TV. Too bad there isn't a Google Nexus 7 compatible app in the Google Play Store to do the same thing.
In time, Amazon will learn to do it the Netflix way, and it might actually work on the Nexus 7.
Have you read the user comments on the Play Store for this app?

I downloaded the Transformers movie so that it would be available offline. I have used up a whole load of memory in doing so. I would now like to back it up so that I can delete it from my Nexus and restore it when I want to use it. I have had a look through the /sdcard and can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know where it is stored so I can back it up?
Its in /sdcard/Andriod/data/com.google.android.videos - I believe.
I deleted it from there.

*snip* Nevermind.
I think you have to "clear data" on the Movies app. I'm not sure what happens if you do the above and delete the framework file - which is the encrypted DRM wrapper around the content, including Transformers and whatever else/cache it has downloaded...
You could just untick the save offline thing in the actual app to download it...
I unchecked the "save offline", available space did not change. Started checking folders to find it, then just rebooted, and the available space opened up.

Yes, I purchased the 16GB version from Staples Canada (still waiting for GP to even process my order from June 28th). Yes, as soon as I registered the device I received $25 GP credit and had access to the free movie.

im downloading it just to see if looks better than it does when its being streamed because im not all that impressed by the streaming quality
It took me about 1.5 hours to download it.. It took forever, probably throttling on Google's cloud side..
It seems like if you click on the push pin it'll download it too.
One thing I wanna know... let's say you download the movie to your tablet and then delete it, can we re download it again? It stays on the cloud forever right ?

Flash Player don't not work no mo...
With that said.
I have tried the following:
Downloaded Android flash 11.1 - Fail
Tried an Older Version of Dolphin Browser - Fail
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling - Fail
What is goal?
I really.. REALLY Want to get amazon videos working via the browser...
I even tried the Amazon videos apk file and it does install on to the phone and you can open it, but it is not operational... fail.
Amazons site will keep requesting that I install flash player to view movies , yet on my 2.3/2.2 version Photon 4G that function works perfectly.
Now I know their have been small attempts , but I really wanna get the ball rolling on this.
Help please.

Puffin is a cloud browser. You're not technically running flash, its just that Puffin's servers are streaming it to you. IMHO, the quality isn't the same.
I too can't get flash to work on N5, but works on my N4, N7, N10, & G2. Probably not going to update those to Kit Kat if flash don't work.
I've been watching live sports via flash streams using the Photon Browser. It's a little quirky and has a lot of ads, but it gets the job done.

Agreed!
Has anyone tried installing Flash and Dolphin Browser and then deleted the preferences file for Dolphin? That's the fix I used on my Nexus 4 and has worked forever since. For some reason my N4 now seems to have lost root so can't get into the data folder to see where the file is exactly. I'll have a go tonight once I have my N5 and rooted it.
No idea what's going on with my N4, think it's feeling replacement depression and rebelling against me haha!
Try Puffin, a cloud rendering browser, here's the trial version:

Trust me, the feature is in the firmware, it just needs to be enabled as an available app through googles whitelist.
ummm mirroring works for me using the cast screen button. i even uninstalled mirror and allcast just to be sure it wasn't an app that was doing it.

Correct. Thus why it works for me on my Eureka Chromecast but not my stock Chromecast.
17250 no worky for me.
Android L now has a dedicated "cast display" option.
It seems to be working great on Eureka 17250! Lag is quite minimal while casting, I am surprised on how smooth it is.
Great addition to the Chromeast for sure!

Edit: I tried to cast a game and the audio wasn't going very nicely.
Also if I press the standby button, the N7 will not wake... unless I unplug the chromecast.

It's no longer available on the S2 as part of Samsung's continued effort to debloat. You may just want to use Google Voice Search instead; it's significantly faster (but slightly less powerful) than S Voice, but if you absolutely must have it, you may want to try sideloading. Don't know if it works or not, nobody else has ever asked for S Voice!
