finally gone from stock rom to gingerdx 014 YAY!
Ran a quadrant advanced benchmark and noticed I dont get anything displayed when it goes through the first two 3D benchmarks aside from the FPS and frame numbers at the bottom. (the corridor one with stairs and I forget what the 2nd one is).. Then I get the DNA strand 3rd bench test which shows up fine and it displays a result of 1124 ???
Is it missing out the display of these for a reason?! Hopefully not to artificially bump up the quadrant score?!? surely not?
Anyone else noticed this?? Or is my gingerdx install a bit fubar?!
Installed from stock 2.1 using CWM after doing a full wipe and dalvik wipe..
Black screen in 3d tests except DNA is normal on all Gingerbread roms(like GDX).
But that bug does not affect on scores.
Don't worry.
PS:
I'm not sure but, The newest version of quadrant from the market can work normal without bug.
Scores will be the same.
Thanks for that.. I was only joking about the scores.. I will download the latest version and try that. I thought I may have done something wrong and wondered why mine wasnt displaying the tests

Right, 3D work with quadrant 1,17 but the score is smaller! I use the advanced version.
With odl quadrand I get a score about 1100. With new quadrant I only get around 950

I've noticed the same thing. I get 1100 in the old one, 892 in the new.

Ultimately - I think not?
If the phone feels quick, and it runs your programes then i would not worry about benchmarking... But if it feels slow and sluggish, then i would try out one of the many benchmarking programes out there, and see if there truely is a problem...
I have tryed it a cauple of times and found that my note ran perfectly well, and that it was I whos was mistaken..

They are good tools to tweak your phone as long as you know what look for but of course one single benchmsrk cannot tell the whole story so I use a combination of benchmarks and applications that i am familiar with when evaluating rom/kernels or overclocking settings.

It surely does make no difference if you score high or low. What matters is that you should be satisfied with ur phones performance.

what i really noticed is that the memory and I/O scores are kernel specific and the more scores you have the more fast the operations on ur phone becomes..
i personaly have achieved highest scores of I/O using notecore /hydracore
This one is really not important. Haha.
Leave this app eversince I bought my notes.
As long as smooth, good battery life, what else u need?
U win nothing even if ur benchmark higher from others.

Ok so as you can probably tell by title, I have a problem.
I was on stock for a year and then I installed custom rom few weeks ago (aosp ics final by maclaw i believe) and ran quadrant benchmark and surprised. cpu benchmarking took me full 10 minutes and i was getting awful preformance in all other parts and at the end result was 505 (note that when i was on stock i was getting 700-750) and then i thought it's because of rom. then i moved to sgsII v11.2, which should be lite rom based on stock, and same thing, around 550. is this my phone's fault (i mean factory problem), or i am missing some steps during installation, i want you guys to tell me...
P.S. Each rom i install runs smooth as silk, multitasking without problems

Which benchmark app you are using???
In Quadrant on SGS2 JB 4.2.2 by SpaceCaker, I get around 1350, dont know abt ur prob, try Quadrant and tell
I used quadrant, but most stupid thing is that i was getting higher scores on stock than now on custom roms

That is what the Ace should score, it's a low-end Armv6 Device, actually running at 600MHz but factory overclocked, with a crap GPU.
Besides..

So, i'm getting a really low 3D Mark score for a "gaming" device like this, i think that Nvidia do something wrong with the Tegra 3 GPU, i got it running at 650Mhz and i get like 3000 points... other devices on the same range get a lot better scores... what to do to get better 3D on our 4X?
Well this is my score...I'm not sure our much other devices get, but from the results our O4X is in the same range as the Note 2...so I guess that those results aren't that bad...
Btw I used the official CM10.1.0 rom with stock cm kernel...

i think that is a better score that i do have with V20C and iodak kernel, i will try another kernel and compare...

Are you running anything else? I ran at stock speeds (no overclock anything) and got 4100-4200 on five straight runs. I have no idea what a normal score for the Tegra 3 is supposed to be.
I get same result. My kernel nothing touched from defaults.
I think it is ok all tegra 3 devices get similar scores one x+ gets about 3800.

for benchmarking, stock rom > aosp rom > cm based roms > other roms, from my experience. even when you bring custom kernels to the table, it's the same.
edit:
f.e., on quadrant, stock with custom kernels could go around 6100, aosp rom we have went to 5500, cm based went up to 4800, while others went up to 4500.
Stock with what customs? Im using iodak is there a begter kernel? Mc4 lags as hell even at 520mhz gpu a 1600mhz cpu

we have like four available kernels for stock, try all four and see which one runs the fastest. as for mc4, i could swear i saw people reporting playing that with no lag... strange

Maybe the problem is that i use the full graphics modded APK... and not the tegra 3 that i bought via playstore... also, Dead space lags too... mabye a kernel related problem, i will flash the rom and kernel again and see...

yeah, that might be the issue. unfortunately, tegra3 in our phone didn't quite live up to my expectations, which sux since even nexus7 has better performance than our phone. didn't try dead space either, so cant really tell. i did try vice city and nfs, they ran quite good on stock for me.

Does it? 3DMark benchmarks disagree.
I did manage to reproduce the OP's results though. I installed TegraOverclock and suddenly my 3DMark results were the same as the ones he posted. If I uninstall it I get the attached image.

and i can post my image of benchmark with 3200 score, overclocked . since my score is as valid as yours, we might as well take the average that's on the website - and the average number says that nexus7 performs better than o4x.
on the other hand, i dont game much these days, and the games i do run, run well enough. so, it's just a benchmark, a number; however i have expected tegra3 in this phone to have higher number than tablet with practically identical chip in it

While it is indeed just a number, it does actually measure something. Unless my configuration is somehow exploiting it specifically to achieve those scores, you might wish to see why you underscore so much and fix it. The phones are identical after all, and no one is talking about fancy coolers or the like as exists in PCs.

I did some testing, and may have the answer for you. The vanilla iodak sets the CPU to 1.7GHz and the 3D and 2D GPU to 520MHz, all of which are maximum values, hence the very good 3DMark scores. If you use an app such as TegraOverclock and set those values you should get the same scores or at least very close to them. I did notice that any attempt to apply an overclock to the GPU was instantly rejected. If I tried to set it to 600MHz it was immediately set at... 300MHz, so as far as I can tell, 520 is the highest possible.

it puts to 300mhz because is the minimun, in 520mhz the minimun is 200...
Edit: flashed back V20C, getting 3570 stock, i will flash Iodak again.. and test... without donwloading tegra overclock...
Edit again, this is with iodak v6 stock settings it seems that thegra overclock app reduces the performance of our devices...
Stock kernel has its gpu running at 200mhz base, scaling up to 416. Custom kernels can increase that, which leads to higher scores. I got 4k by increasing gpu to 520mhz. I don't see how just having tegra oc installed could break anything
hallo everyone!
i overclocked my phone with Tegrak ,benchmarked with Antutu and i get only 10741 points. on stock i get 15540.
but the phone looks faster than before.
why? whats the problem? :S
im the newest cm 11

No, you don't.
You got a worse score because with the phone overclocked, the phone heated up during the benchmark and it had to limit the CPU or GPU resulting in worse performance and hence you got a worse score.
Don't overclock the device, there's a reason it wasn't overclocked to begin with.
And so the benchmark myth goes on and on... The way you FEEL about your device's performance should be your reference instead of counting on some apps which in turn is affected by many factors that could produce inaccurate results.
