stock android rom with sense camera? - Sprint HTC One (M7)

I thought I found one before that had both camera apps, but I haven't been able to find it.

You've never seen that before. Not true. If you want sense camera you have to go back to sense.
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk 4 Beta

ah, alright then. It may have been both camera apps on a sense rom.

i have no interest in gsm roms since im with sprint
im sure he is inquiring about sprint htc one also

You've likely seen it on a rom for a GSM htc one. Sprint does not have a google edition rom so we cannot do this. Does anyone know of anybody porting a google edition rom to our phone? I'm surprised we havn't seen one.

Without the Sprint kernel for 4.2, it's useless. It's kernel sources everyone's waiting on more than anything else.

The Google edition has the same backend software (so as to allow the ultrapixel camera to perform somewhat well), but to run the actual Sense camera app would require the Sense framework, which the Google Edition ROM obviously lacks.

The Google Edition rom actually had a lot of sense framework.
That's why the sense camera was able to be ported to it.

The reason the Sprint HTC One doesn't have it is because you have no 4.2.2 kernel.

Man. If only Tmo didn't become so expensive. It was the only reason I switched to Sprint.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the GPe based on a Sense kernel, and only the appearance is AOSP?

Have you looked at some of their prepaids? They have a pretty smartphone-friendly, though well hidden plan for $30/mo. 100 voice minutes, unlimited text + data.

I'll be checking that out after I grind through my 2 year contract, that I'm now stuck in, which hopefully won't be as bad come August, which was the ETA for LTE in my area.

Luckily about half of my area has LTE, but the problem is just that CDMA phones get the stinky finger because only 2 carriers in the world use them, Verizon and Sprint.
I'm definitely going GSM next time.

I don't think it ever will..... US Cellular is CDMA. And if you're lucky enough to have them around the network is second to none. But I do see your point. My problem is that my area (Wisconsin) is dominated by CDMA. The networks for T-Mo and ATT are not good around here.

[Q] Why is Sprint so hard to make ROM's for?

I know it's CDMA and everything, but does that make a difference? And If it makes a huge difference and I'm just being stupid, please explain why? I want to flash ARHD to my One, but I can't since it doesn't work on Sprint!
It's not hard to make a rom for it but because of the hardware differences, it's impossible to make a cross flashable Rom for cdma and gsm.

The One is the across all carriers, EXCEPT SPRINT. CDMA and GSM are completely different pieces of hardware, so one ROM cannot address both chips.

I was actually happy to leave CDMA carrier like Sprint and start using GSM phone which are more widely used and have far more development due to the fact they have the same hardware as their international counterparts

On of top that Sprint has such inconsistent and spotty service in many parts of the country. Some parts of the country Sprint compatible networks are all but absent.
There's a reason why Sprint subscribers can get such great price and package deals for their phones & data plans... Becausr they cannot hold onto customers who get lured in by the great deals, then as soon as they leave their comfortable metropolitan areas, they have zero signal in some random small town, where the average AT&T and Verizon customers have at least some phone service.

Using Aroma it is quite easy to do this. There were many ROMs in the EVO 3D forums that had one flash-able zip for GSM and CDMA phones. You just selected in Aroma. I believe Trick Droid for the One in the International forum is also like this.
And it is not harder to make ROMs for the Sprint version. It is just a matter of DEVs. There are more developers for the GSM version and some are more actively developing and therefore there are more ROMs available. Also they have a 4.2.2 kernel as is for their phone and there has not been one released for the Sprint version. Once there is a 4.2.2 Kernel available for the Sprint variant you'll see lots of movement.

Now I just get to sit here and wait for ARHD to work on Sprint. Maybe when 4.2.2 is released officially on Sprint, right? So then they can get the kernel?

I think once we get a SPrint 4.2.2 kernel/firmware there will be more crossover, mostly the difference in the the variants is at the kernel level.

I agree; I think people are waiting too. It's hard to invest a lot of time into developing a ROM when we'll get a 4.2 release "soon". Sometimes one can just diff to see what's different and incorporate the new features into an already made custom ROM (or vice versa), but it's easier and more stable to start over.

Short answer is no.
I believe the Sprint phones are Hardware rev 0004 which means they would need a kernel for our specific hardware. It's mostly a kernel thing.

Is there a leak of the GE HTC One rom? Because as soon as that is out, you guys will basically have partial AOSP support from HTC.
The Thanks button is just to avoid "THANKS" posts in threads. Nothing more. Don't defeat the purpose of why it was introduced.

Yeah, there is. It's available on every Htc One except for the sprint variant http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341395 The kicker is that the Google Edition rom is made for GSM networks, therefore no CDMA support. Sucks to be us.
*jumps off cliff*
By the way i'm pretty sure that works kind of like an old app called bootmanager. What is does is makes a boot, data, system, and cache partition on your SD card, and when you want to change roms it just flashes the new boot.img which tells the phone to boot off of the new System partiton on your SD card. Pretty awesome if you ask me.

Hardware is almost exactly the same
Also. Kernel has almost nothing to do with cellular connections, it specifies how the software should interact with the hardware and nothing else
The GPE port and 4.2.2 sense 5 ports are both using kernels made for the international version

[Q] How can I tell if HTC One is google play store edition

Hi, just wondering how I would be able to tell if an HTC One being sold on craigslist is a google play store edition? thanks
It will be difficult to tell if it is a true GPe. I'm not sure you can distinguish between a purchased GPe or a converted GPe. If it boots into sense then that's a sure sign it's not.

I believe that the google edition is hardware identical to the ATT version, that is what is probably being picked up by ATT.
