When I go to charge my phone, (just started doing this) it completely spazzes out. It wakes up and starts opening random apps, especially Google apps. Then it just sits on a screen awake and does not fall asleep. If I put it to sleep, on the 3rd time, it'll stop charging. What's happening?? Any help? Thanks
Perhaps there is some kind of short between charging circuit and the digitiser power supply. Warranty time.
I had something like this on my S2, so i had to clean that micro-usb port, and it was pretty simple...just had to blow to it. Since that all those things stoped.
tried it
I tried to blow air into the charging port, it didn't work unfortunately. And also when it's plugged in, the screen stays sideways

Good morning,
So, my Moto X woke me up this morning by vibrating every few seconds on my nightstand. Evidently, the device was stuck in a bootloop, where it'd just get to the charging screen, and then reboot.
Turns out the outlet that the powerstrip that my phone was plugged into started "flickering" at some point last night... it'll give power for a quick second, then stop, and flip between those two states very rapidly.
Two questions... because I don't know much about batteries.
1. Do you think that caused any damage to my phone's battery? I've plugged it into a different outlet, now... and it appears to be charging fine.
2. Any idea what causes a power outlet to just start "flickering" like that? (I have verified that it's not the power strip's fault, nor the Motorola phone charger's fault).
Thanks so much.

Is it a surge protector or just a standard power strip..2ndly how old is it? And r u using the USB charger it came with or older one?
Slapped my Moto
If it's happening in other outlets it could be an issue with the main line to the location.
If it is only happening at that one outlet, you potentially have a fire hazard. It could be a short, or it could just be that outlet doesn't allow for a plug to consistently connect. Either way, I'd recommend replacing the outlet immediately. Until that's done flip the breaker or remove the fuse associated with the outlet. While replacing an outlet is something you can do yourself, this probably isn't the place for a tutorial. If even after replacing the outlet, you still have issues, get an electrician involved.
I'd be surprised if it caused damage to your battery. These batteries have circuitry to prevent that.
Can someone tell me what this flex cable is connecting?
My phone would sometimes spontanously freeze and switch off, showing the 3 red leds and just stops responding. It won't even take a charge. Usually the battery is at 60% when the phone dies, and sometimes it shows a constant RED led.
The back cover is loose (but has enough adhesive to actually stick reasonably, takes little force to open it up), so I pressed that connector with medium force. The next thing that happened, is that the phone responded to the charger, booted to the "charging state", where it shows the battery state and so on (which it shows it's approx on 60%.
Or could it be that I press something else, which causes my phone to work properly again?

Thanks/Hvala!
But do you know what could be faulty on this specific point, which causes my phone to not charge? Can I find somewhere a complete guide to the disassembly and identification of all parts? It would make it alot easier for me . My phone is running again, going strong at 65% and still discharging for the last 3 hours. I'm logging the microVolts, temperature and other stats from the battery to see if it's the battery causing the malfunction, which I doubt.
Anyway, there should be something. By the way, prior to the issues, my phone dropped flat on the screen on tiles, about 1 meter high. So most likely, there is something loose/messed up. But I don't know what causes the entire system to flash the LED 3 times, saying that the battery is drained, yet after pressing on this point, immediately start up while on the charger.

Please PM me. (you speak croatian?)
My phone keeps charging itself. It doesn't really charge but something is really broken with the phone. My phone says it's charging itself and 5seconds later it isnt. That causes my screen to go on and off and basically my screen wont turn off. When i have shut the phone down, it still has the charging logo and whatnot. Also the battery level sometimes just changes when i restart my phone.
^^I think that happens because my phone has got some liquid damage (was in some coke for a second)^^
^^All of that sometimes stops, when i use my phone for about 20 minutes with battery heavy apps. It doesn't work always but about 6/10 times.
I have bought a new battery so it's not that.
Any help would be appreciated
May be the USB port. Try cleaning it.
doesn't seem to be the USB port
My daughters SIII mini has *possibly* been slow charging for a while but not sure. So disregard this remark unless it makes sense to you.
Today it wouldn't turn ON, so I let her charge it. There is NO indication on the phone that it charges, but my ampere-meter (random link to similar 'amperemeter') showed 0.25A chargingcurrent. Once this dropped to 0.00A I tried turning it on, but there is NO reaction. No vibration, no sound, no backgroundlight or any other life in the display. I tried recovery mode (volume-up+power+home buttons), but no reaction.
I tried the S3mini battery in my S4 and it starts my S4 just fine, showing full charge. I even put it on the charger, but 100% is 100% so I saw no sense in leaving it there for more than a few minutes.
Putting it back in the S3 didn't work, removing the SD and SIM card didn't work, leaving the battery out for an hour didn't work.
Should I go open it up? It's probably not the ON button as that plays (imho) no role in showing charging-level while off (charging is something it does seem to do, but does not show on the display).
I once read that charging is governed by the software in Android, is there some truth to this? And if so can you draw conclusions that there is still something working/running inside?
The reason for putting my question on here is that I read about 50 threads on the subject and 45 of them claim it "won't start" or "does nothing" but then turn out to do a lot more than ours.
Opened the phone up and found no apparent hardware issues. The ON button has a connection between middle and left solderpoint and MAKES a connection between middle and right solderpoint when pushing the button. Forgot to measure if it BREAKS the left and middle when pushing the button.
It does NOT show up as a drive on my computer but I do hear sounds from my computer when pushing the ON button on the S3mini (edit: correction, I hear sound when plugging the USB cable in or when removing it, NOT when actuating any buttons on the phone). So there is still something happening inside.
hi
everything 'was' okay with my N6 until I let the battery level slip right down to 2-3 %.
I went to charge it and now... nothing.
When I plug it in all I am getting is the 'empty battery' screen and, although I have used different chargers/cables the problem is still there.
I have had no issues with charging ect, even had a battery fitted a few months back to keep the phone in good shape.
I can (sometimes) access the fastboot screen but when I try to go into 'recovery' all I get is back to the 'empty battery' screen.
Any help out there?
This could be a variety of things. But, let's start with battery related.
If the battery is in good shape but completely depleted, then it's a bear to recharge. Try plugging it into a computer USB port for a few hours. For some reason, the factory turbo charger doesn't seem to recover from this state. If you have a wireless (inductive) charger, use that.
When charging, does the red LED come on? That is the only reason it was there from the git go. It communicates charging when the battery is really dead. If not, this might have something to do with the side buttons. If they are goofed, or the ribbon cable to them is damaged or disconnected, the battery won't charge.
thanks for taking the time to reply.
I left the phone plugged in overnight with no change but when I picked it up it started charging.
It went to 5% then stopped, I waited a few minutes and it started charging again... this time to 10%.
This pattern has increased during the day and i'm happy to say that with one xable it continues to charge.
No idea why but meh, i'm not complaining (much!).
Hopefully, I can nurse it through to October and then decide if I will purchase the XL 2 (headphone socket is going to be a must for me... if not, no more Google phones)
Sounds like a wonky USB port. A wireless charger might make life less stressful. Maybe you know someone who had one where you could test.
You might try cleaning the USB port.
