So this is weird... Plugged my standard dock into the same mUSB cable I used to have my OG Droid's dock plugged into, then insert the Bionic into the dock. Up pops the docking selection etc., thinking all is good.
Couple hours later I noticed my battery was down to 40% while docked! (yay LTE battery black hole...) Of course, the only reason I noticed is because the screen had timed out as well (10min in settings, never turn off when charging). Of course, if I hadn't been charging the device I would have turned LTE off.
I then realized it also wasn't showing the USB connected option; figured maybe the cable wasn't in completely. Yet when I unplugged the cable, the Bionic gave me the "disconnected from charger, unplug charger to save energy" message.

Hokaaaayyy... mebbe the Bionic doesn't like my OG mUSB cable? But when I plug it in directly to the phone, bingo, charging occurs, and the USB connection options dialog pops up as well.

Think I have a DOA dock? I hope not because it came as part of a bundle from Costco; I might have to exchange the entire kit (phone, dock, car charger, car dock, battery charger dock) just to fix this!
<edit>So for some reason it looks like the standard dock just doesn't like working with computer USB ports. It can tell if the USB cable is plugged into a PC (tried my desktop and laptop both) but won't charge or USB connect. It does charge if I plug the USB into a standard wall charger, but obviously doesn't allow me to interact with the device.
I'm guessing this is "as intended" even though my OG Droid gave me the option of USB connecting when I used its standard/multimedia dock?
Wow. I'll go grab mine right now and test and report back. Same CostCo bundle purchaser here too, so....

Confirmed. Incidentally, I used a powered USB hub to try to fool the dock - no dice. if I connected the dock to power from my USB hub, it did not charge the phone, As soon as I connected to the wall charger, though, it started charging right away.
Mine worked fine for the first few days, but now all of the sudden, it docks, but will not charge while docked. It doesn't seem to matter wether it is plugged into a wall charger or USB. Wierd....

Correction!!!
I just switched cables and found out that my Wall Charger must have got fried with my recent power outage! It is connected through a new cable (through USB) and is working fine. It docks and charges. SWEET!!!
EDIT, EDIT, EDIT!!! - I just realized that it is not hooked up via USB Power, It is indeed hooked up through another wall charger. I have both on my desk at work and thought it was in the USB cable hooked up to my computer, but I was wrong. It is in fact hooked up to a new wall charger.
The standard dock sucks. I did the same thing, unhooked my D1 dock, plugged in this one and it will not connect USB to my computer or charge the phone, I have to use the wall adapter that came with the thing. Planning to use this one at the bed anyway, I have a HD dock on the way as well, that one better connect to USB b/c that's how I debug apps via eclipse, much easier to tap on the screen when it's docked and debug. Ehhh, Oh Prime where art thou!
Mine only works with the Bionic Cable... Not the original droid or Revolution cords...
Hello,
I cannot charge my note, neither from genuine Samsung charger, nor from my laptop using usb. It shows dots for a couple of minutes- up to 15 I guess, but the green battery is not filling with its juice. After a quater yellow triangle with exclamation mark appears on the screen.
I am able to switch it on, while the dots are on the screen, but after logging it, message appears that my battery is low and I should plug in the charger (but it is plugged...), thank after a couple of minutes battery remains 1% and goes to 0% I asume as GNote switches off.
Kernel is 2.6.35:7-N7000XXKL3-CL793489 [email protected]#2
And Baseband version N7000DDKL1
I guess it is a software error, because it worked well for previous owner while on CM9 (or the previous owner lied to my and sold me faulty item ;( )
Is it possible to somehow flash it or change the rom to any other while having that issue with battery? I mean while seing that yellow triangle?
Things I did that did not help:
- tried to clean usb slot,
- took off battery for a couple of minutes so somehow reset the device
- plug it to laptop
mhm, had that problem too, but removing USB and putting back and it works.
did you tried another USB cable?
other thing I got while charging under Android was "stopped charging, battery temperature to high" very strange...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I can only charge it via my laptop, but it takes ages - 10-12 hours to charge....
Any ideas why travel charger (added to set) is not working?
Now, while GNote is plugged it is still draining the battery
Had similar problems,
I have 3 stock USB cables and 2 chargers - I can only charge via one of the cables, unfortunately my rabbit chewed it within an inch of it's life..
I bought a new USB cable, Which connects via data mode to my PC but will not charge when using it in PC or wall charger.. Shows connected and charging - but battery continues to deplete...
Fortunately as I have one working cable I try to keep both batteries fully charged..

Could always try Dr. K's Suggestion:
Remove battery for few min
re insert and just plug in to charge.
Afetr few min try to switch on
I've had similar problems recently myself. I think in my case it's a bug in the CM9 nightly i was using.
Plugged into the charger over night, no charge on the phone. Reboot of the phone has fixed this for me. I updated CM9 yesterday and the problem is gone for me.
I'm using a SE charger and it works fine. Charging via laptop works great as well.
so phone suddenly decided to stop charging, when it went to 0, it never turned on again
had a red led at first then nothing, if i buy a new battery will it be fixed or is it a problem bigger than that?
thanks in advance
Well, it seems that you have a charging issue, and not a battery issue.
I'd say you better take it to Sony Service Center if possible, or try to charge it with dock if you have one around.
Good luck!

ive used a magnetic charger and the microusb charger, neither of them do anything so i thought it would be a battery problem
No its not .If You drained your battery to 0% it make take some time to charge ,Just leave it charged maybe an hour or so even if the red light is not showing .After an Hour it will show up .

yes i have, does it constitute as a battery problem yet? haha
update: oh sh*t, it might because i used a new wire rather than the advice of "use the wire the phone came with", but after 3 continuous days of charging, i got red leds
what's the next move?
edit: when off charging, i held down the power button and got the 3 flashes again
i tried holding power button + volume up, did not get any vibrations, according to other threads, i should connect it to AC and led should be red, led isn't red, gonna just leave it charging for a week on AC and see if my computer recognizes it
I have a similar problem. Basically I've had problems with some roms I've had going so I tried to reformat using flashtool and stock. Got it to work but got to around 10% battery. I then proceeded to flash a new kernel/recovery but it didn't boot anymore and am now stuck with a phone that only shows red LED when charging. What should I do?
P.S. I left it charging all night and it still won't boot up. Reflashed it (NOTE: All my flashes were successful) and no dice. Still red LED.

As you said, the phone decided to stop charging and the battery got to 0% so yeah it's a charging issue, the battery seems to fine to me.

Try connecting both magnetic and MicroUSB charger together, I've read on the internet that this forces the battery to charge

That happened to my own too. I got it to detect by plugging in my charger and doing a hard rest (Volume up + power button) then as quickly as possible unplug it. Once unplugged, make sure to plug it to your computer in flashmode in the first try.

I don't remember the exact steps cuz it didn't work for me (seems like I have a blown chip or something) so I didn't give it much interest. But I believe it was something like what hakkai said, connect both and as soon as the light comes on hold power + vol up and when it vibrates disconnect the phone and connect it immediately in flashmode then do whatever you want.

haha light never comes on, i even spliced a wire to connect to the magnetic charger, nothing
the red led that shone for 5 minutes disappeared forever
does anyone know if replacing the battery gets rid of the problem or am i ****ed no matter what
It was working fine up till 10 mins before I went to bed. It was sitting on the cheotech wireless fast charger, topped off at 100%. I moved over to my bed and took my phone, started watching some youtube. After a while I put it on a nearby wired charger and....nothing. No charging. I tried another cable / socket? Still nothing. The wireless charger? Nothing. USB to computer? No charge or indication that anything connected on my computer. Restarting the phone had no effect, nor did keeping the phone off for a few hours.
Any ideas?
Edit: appears to be similar, but not the same issues to this guy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/help/suddenly-smart-dock-connected-usb-t3244683
The issue seems to have appeared after opening the cardbord VR setting in the youtube app. Its the setting that appears in the gear button after you have started a video.
Hi, I just had a similar issue today. My phone wasn't charging regardless if it were connected to the PC or any wall sockets. It was as if my USB port just wouldn't do anything.
So eventually my phone had been depleted to zero percent battery life, now the phone starts charging again normally. I'm little worried as to why it was doing this in the first
place. However it's working now.
**An update phone stopped charging at 46% battery.
---------- Post added at 04:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:25 PM ----------
Also it seems I have to hold power button and volume down to reboot it in order for it to charge again.
I am experiencing a similar issue. It stopped USB charging five weeks ago and after one week wireless too. I had left it on the side for two weeks on the wireless charger when suddenly it started to charge. Everything was perfect for the last one week (both charging wireless and USB in both fast and normal. This morning, while USB plugged in, it shows the battery being depleted (no overnight charge). Dead again.
I did factory reset several times.
Hello,
my HTC start to act weird so I did factory reset. After a few day Sense start to act weird again so I did reset again.
After few day of trouble I decided to install James rom, but my phone was not rooted. So I start to do that from Desire 500 root manual from this forum, but my phone turn off and now I can`t turn it on.
When charger is conected there is orange blinking light, like battery is drained out and I try to leave phone for all night and day on charger and nothing. Then I remove batery and charge it with shock charger in service shop. When I put battery back, all is the same. There is no way to get into fastboo. Can I do something and what to make my phone work?
Please help a friend in need
