N7000 Hardware issue!!! PLEASE HELP ME!! - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
The usb port on my note was broken so it would only charge if the connector was put in it at an angle!!
So I then got the usb ribbon controller from amazon and replaced it but since I've done that the mobile reception is terrible and the loudspeaker/ringer only works if I have the volume down low and cuts out and doesn't work at all if i have the volume up loud.
I've ordered a replacement loudspeaker/ringer and antenna module but am not sure if this will resolve the problem. Why would this have happened???
I read someone on another forum mention a u202 problem. What is that and how does that get resolved???

Just take it to a repair shop. Same thing happened to me and I made a mistake of letting a non-official repair shop replace the USB connector for me. Reception was HORRIBLE.
Turned out it was a non-samsung part used, and after the official Samsung service replaced it, everything went to normal.
Don't use cheap chinese replacement parts crap.

Part fitted was a genuine Samsung part.
Loudspeaker Needs to be replaced anyway and I have now been advised that I may have a damaged antenna cable so that is now on order. Hopefully this will resolve these issues.

be carefull when taking apart and placing the stuff, electronics are pretty fragile.
There are also a lot of faulty modules as I have read people have difficulty getting the right working parts. So far repair shops are pretty reliable cause you can go back. Usually expensive though.
I have had positive experience with parts4repair. They even have dustcover/plugs for your usb hole. I havent read yet a non working part from them.
off course warrantee is pretty important as well.
I can also recommend getting high quality cables with special connectors. The usb interconnectivity is great, but I have seen to many usb holes get broken, I blame the cables. A new better standard should arise cause this is rediculious.

headphone port problem- Warranty possible?

I bought a galaxy s on ebay, was like new a week old.
Found it to be very fast and amazing but the headphone port seems to be having problems. only one side of the headphones work for some reason and if i twist the headphone jack inside the port and hold it at a certain place occasionally both work.
Have tested in 4 different set of earphones which are fully working and I get the same problem. If I unroot my phone and ask the seller for the original reciept will I be able to get the phone repaired under warranty?
thanks
My usb port didnt work anymore after a week i got this phone. It was sent back rooted and had unofficial firmware. They replaced the port for free however. You need the receipt though..
The samsung employee told me they didn't care about unofficial software. The procedure to make everything default is a 10 sec job
You replacement will be under factory warranty, just like mine

I had same problem. Brought it to SC and they found out headset was faulty. Replaced headset. Headset/accessories only 6 months warranty. So go get it checked out. They didn't even check the phone. So I won't worry too much about custom roms unless you really have an issue with the phone itself.
God bless.
Thanks for the replies. Found out it was due to the fact that the gel case I have on my phone prevented the headphone Jack going all the way into the port. Stupid mistake I know but at least I know its now sorted.

Dropped my phone.... USB not working anymore

Hi guys.
I dropped the phone, and know my phone only charging. (PC can't see my phone any more)
I called to US Samsung center they said to call in Europe lol, because they can't find my phone.,etc.
So guys I need to buy new USB port, to fix damn Note.
Where I can find this part
Thank you for helping.
Best regards.
Hi, sorry to hear about your phone but I don't think you should fix your phone with your own money, the phone comes with a 1 year warranty that should cover such stuff and I'm guessing because the phone is not available in the US yet you might want to go down to a Samsung Customer care to see if they can get it fixed or else I'm afaird you have to do it yourself
BTW which country did you buy it from?

I'd get a battery charger on ebay asap. Your phone will go flat while you wait though.
Its not a good plan to try your own repair. Its probably a broken solder to usb socket but might be something else and then kill your waranty.
So try to get Samsung to fix it. And a couple of batteris to keep you going till then with external charger.
no understand
Are you saying its charging or not charging? Is the phone rooted if so you won't be able to send for repair, and as your PC can't see it you won't be able to unroot.Try cleaning USB port with nail varnish remover and tooth brush without Battery inserted and leave for 20 minutes to dry.If its not charging then maybe connector has popped off.Its easy to fix just have to remove about 8 screws takes 10 minutes I've done it twice. There are how 2s available on the net.I've looked everywhere for USB port they aren't available yet but toothbrush and nail varnish remover fixed it for me.
i doubt if its a broken solder contact. I think the flex ribbon connector has come loose. if you will open up your phone, then you should just reconnect the flex ribbon connector and your phone should be ok.

Last time I checked manufacturer warranties don't cover "dropped' phones.
There are US service centers that fix phones for a fee.
Guys I call to samsung they telling me to call to europe...

[Q] Anyone know how to repair broken off SIM slot pin?

I broke a pin in my SGN's SIM card slot. Is there a reasonably simple way to fix this?

It would really help if anyone knows.

Hey Buddy!
I was in the same boat as you about a week ago. Had the white version and broken 3 of the pins using a micro SIM adapter (thanks to the f*ck* apple for their usage of microSIMS ... no one else uses it)
I am in Toronto, Canada, and I am lucky to have a Asian Community with Specialized Technicians .
At Pacific Mall, Store #A22 - GUBU Mobile - $40.00 to fix it. It requires one day overnight stay, and you will void the manufactuer's warranty (as they will open the phone up).
The part that is damaged is the SIM300 chipset (if you refer to the technician manual for the N7000 series, it is the same as the AT&T version - I727 or whatever it is...)
Unfortunely, it is NOT simple chipset that can be replaced, if you want to that, the entire motherboard has been replaced ($200-$300, I believe).
So, yeah, that's what I did to fix mine, and no problems at all! smooth sailing.
Let me know if you wanna ship to Canada to get it fixed or find a local technician.
That's exactly what happened to me. Micro-SIM adapter got stuck with no SIM in it. Removal snapped a pin. So you only paid $40 to get it fixed. If I can't find someone local, I may have to ship to CAN. Please let me know what they replaced.

I broke my sim connector too, using the microsim I had taken out from my iPhone 4S, and an adapter. I took my SGN to the local Samsung repair centre at "Nehru Place" here in Delhi, and he repaired it free, returning the phone to me the same evening. The repair person told me he receives at least a half dozen phones with the same problem every day, and while people lie about the real reason, it's actually the connector getting caught in the space between the microsim and adapter!
@ Mister_Mxyzptlk
The guy told me he had to "break-off" (soldering off) the SIM300 Chipset (the one where you insert the SIM Card), and he needed to solder-in a new SIM300 Chipset. He even referenced the technicial manual for N7000. He even showed me the broken SIM300 Chipset.
In comparsion, is like a replacing one of those chipsets soldered on your computer's motherboard.
I been using for about 1-2 weeks now since the fix, with no issues, nothing at all, I installed custom ROM and Kernal to my liking, and no issues, everything works perfectly, bluetooth, wifi, phone, speaker, etc. etc.
Just remove with soldring iron which pin was damaged then insert from any other sim socket pin. I try it success

You replaced a broken SIM tray pin using a soldering iron all by yourself? Did you by any chance take photographs of the process?

If you are not comfortable soldering
If you are not comfortable soldering, Google "Hassle Free Cell Phone Repair" for a US company that could do the repair for you.

Hey i have the same problem...samsung service centre says it need to replace full mother board around rs 10000....... As i also live in delhi....please tell me from where in Nehru place you got it repaired.....plzzz miss call me i also wana repair cheaply...my no 7838587313
Excuse me for reviving an old thread. I am in the same dilemma. A nano sim adaptor broke a pin off my N7000 sim tray. It's the version that is soldered to the whole motherboard. I've seen an incomplete video of its replacement. It seems that the guy broke off the tray into pieces. The cleaned motherboard showed the 6 contact solder points and 4 sim housing solder points. It is not clear how he did it. I have a replacement sim tray coming but have no idea how to remove the old tray. Soldering the new tray is just as hard. It's very tight in there and will be easy to overheat the board.

[Q] new digitizer, still not working!

hey guys, so i have the LG Optimus 2X, P990-HN, i'm with Fido (doubt it matters) anyway, there was a large crack in my screen, and i just dealt with it for a long time, but eventually the glass FELL OUT, the rest of it worked, but i couldn't leave it, so i ordered a new Digitizer from DealExtreme.com and it was about $50 CAD, reviews tell me it worked, googled it nobody else had complaints, so i doubt it's a fake or anything, all the way from singapore, i put it in and i can see everything clearly through it, beautiful, but zero response from the touch screen. none at all in any area, what could it be? also, if i take the screen out to re-seat it do i need to apply heat and completely remove it, and if so will that make it garbage and need a new one? will the heat kill it? i'm quite upset because it costed 50 bucks and took a long time to get here, and i finally put it in and it doesn't work, all help appreciated!
Have you tried the service center ? One probable way to check if the new one really works is to connect the old one back and see if touch works.. You might have accidentally pulled out some other connection .. just my guess

if i take off thte new screen with a hair dryer, will that ruin the screen though?
Not sure about that . Is the new screen stuck on to the device like a sticker ? I recall seeing some YouTube videos on Optimus 2x surgery

The digitizer , screen and the glass are usually a single unit .. yes any one of them is worn out , it can be replaced ... but u have to find d place where it s done ..

yes i ordered a digitizer though, replace it and it didnt work, what the hell could it be i just dont understand, and i can do it myself but i don't know the problem
I have done this twice with OK success. It is important to connect all electronics correctly - check YouTube for guides. But even if you did all correct be digitiser might be defect. Either you being it to service centre or redo digitiser install. Maybe, you can check before closing the phone, and if not working correctly check with your old digitiser. Heating and reheating should be no problem (although nothing is without risk). Good luck.

hey, thanks for helping me out. i think the digitizer MUST be defective, i took it apart and put the old SHATTERED one in, and it works FINE, aside from you know... being shattered. then i plugged the other NEW one in, and no response from the touchscreen. the ribbon wire looks to be fine, the connection to the logic board was fine, everything was hooked up right (or the other one wouldn't have worked right?) so if i cant SEE anything wrong with a digitizer, what could even be wrong with it, it MUST be defective, but what can really be defective about a digitizer? what can go wrong on something with so little to break...?
Don't know what is wrong, but it must have been defect before you got it. Try to return it to the seller/shop as soon as possible and get your money back.

Charge port/headphone jack replaced. No mic

Hi,
My charge port on my htc one m8 has been having problems for the past several months. So I finally bit the bullet and bought a new board. It was a fairly straight forward process to replace.
So my charging port, and headphones work good, but now I have no mic. When I put the old board back in voilĂ , microphones back. Speaker mic works fine with either board.
I bought my replacement on eBay http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=161657397217&alt=web
Attached is a picture of my original board. I read on the forums that there were revisions but there is one difference. There's a metal brack soldered onto board on the charging port, and around the headphone jack, which the new one didn't have.
Do you guys just think I got a defective board, or possibly the wrong one? I looked at several adds on eBay and that bought one specifically said it worked for sprint only.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

EBay seller sent me a replacement and it worked fine. So I can confirm they work fine. The first one was just faulty.
