[Q] new digitizer, still not working! - LG Optimus 2x

hey guys, so i have the LG Optimus 2X, P990-HN, i'm with Fido (doubt it matters) anyway, there was a large crack in my screen, and i just dealt with it for a long time, but eventually the glass FELL OUT, the rest of it worked, but i couldn't leave it, so i ordered a new Digitizer from DealExtreme.com and it was about $50 CAD, reviews tell me it worked, googled it nobody else had complaints, so i doubt it's a fake or anything, all the way from singapore, i put it in and i can see everything clearly through it, beautiful, but zero response from the touch screen. none at all in any area, what could it be? also, if i take the screen out to re-seat it do i need to apply heat and completely remove it, and if so will that make it garbage and need a new one? will the heat kill it? i'm quite upset because it costed 50 bucks and took a long time to get here, and i finally put it in and it doesn't work, all help appreciated!

Have you tried the service center ? One probable way to check if the new one really works is to connect the old one back and see if touch works.. You might have accidentally pulled out some other connection .. just my guess

if i take off thte new screen with a hair dryer, will that ruin the screen though?

Not sure about that . Is the new screen stuck on to the device like a sticker ? I recall seeing some YouTube videos on Optimus 2x surgery

The digitizer , screen and the glass are usually a single unit .. yes any one of them is worn out , it can be replaced ... but u have to find d place where it s done ..

yes i ordered a digitizer though, replace it and it didnt work, what the hell could it be i just dont understand, and i can do it myself but i don't know the problem

I have done this twice with OK success. It is important to connect all electronics correctly - check YouTube for guides. But even if you did all correct be digitiser might be defect. Either you being it to service centre or redo digitiser install. Maybe, you can check before closing the phone, and if not working correctly check with your old digitiser. Heating and reheating should be no problem (although nothing is without risk). Good luck.

hey, thanks for helping me out. i think the digitizer MUST be defective, i took it apart and put the old SHATTERED one in, and it works FINE, aside from you know... being shattered. then i plugged the other NEW one in, and no response from the touchscreen. the ribbon wire looks to be fine, the connection to the logic board was fine, everything was hooked up right (or the other one wouldn't have worked right?) so if i cant SEE anything wrong with a digitizer, what could even be wrong with it, it MUST be defective, but what can really be defective about a digitizer? what can go wrong on something with so little to break...?

Don't know what is wrong, but it must have been defect before you got it. Try to return it to the seller/shop as soon as possible and get your money back.

[Q] [HELPPPPPP] Captivate display

So here's the thing
I have a Captivate and I currently reside in India.
And my phone got wet !
I could get rest everything working its just the display thats gone!
and the biggest problem is you cant get captivate display in India.
The guys here say that they can try to fix it by using the I9000 display.
Can it work this way?
NOTE:Its just the display and not the digitizer. The digitizer works perfectly fine cause I can receive calls etc etc.

It sounds to me that that wouldn't work. But if it says it does. Why not? If it screws up have them get a new phone for you

Well, the Samsung people dont want to fix my phone.
That guy is a dealer and a repairer who has contacts with Samsung.
And the problem part in ordering the screen is its for 110$ which is no big deal.
But then the customs in India are sick.
What if they confiscate the item and all!
That'll be a mess!
All money wasted!
when your phone gets wet, the first thing you should do is drop the battery out of the unit. Then remove the main-board and soak it in alcohol. After that, you can blow it dry with a hair dryer an once you're sure the water is out from under all the chips, turn it on.
If your phone is indeed fried, then you'll need a new mainboard... possibly the screen/digitizer as well.

Hello fellow Droiders

I have a problem with my phone . A technical one .
in portrait mode the touchscreen is not responsive at all but in landscape everything is just fine.
ofc , i tried other roms , wipped OS , reinstalled it , but it always happens .
it usually work for a day or two (in portrait , but it works like hell , extremely laggy , it double-triple taps when i touch the screen , it does not unlock and i need to take out the battery in order to use the phone again)
Now i am just using the phone with the qwerty out and that is an inconvenient sometimes ..
What could the problem be ( i must mention that i dropped the phone on the floor severel to a hundred times ) , i might think there is a problem with the phones sensor , maybe something at the cables which connect the front side of the phone with the back one or maybe the touchscreen ( but i dont think it is its fault )
some advices b4 im take it to a mobile phone service ?
No advices such as "contact verizon bla bla bla"i am from romania .
Your ribbon cable may have a tear in it. Sorry.

Should just be a standard Torx screwdriver set.

Yes, but to replace the digitizer on the Droid3 there is one especially small torx driver required that most kits do not include. I think it is a T3, maybe a T2.5, but in any case I had to look hard to find one online.
Repairing the Droid3 at this level is quite difficult, even with the correct tools, especially if there has been any wear or corrosion of those tiny torx screw heads. They can easily be ruined rather than backing out.
Best left to professionals maybe, and then you have to wonder if it is worth the time and trouble for a Droid3 ?

[Q] Is it possible to...

hey guys, I have a really quick Q for u. Is it possible to only replace the Digitizer/Glas on the One? They sell em for really cheap and because my screen still works fine after droping it (hell even the Digitizer still works!) I hoped that i can just replace it. The search doesn't show any result when I type in things like Display Digitizer etc. Did anyone attempted this? I saw some people replacing just the Glass on a Galaxy S4 on YouTube but there are only a few really poor videos on YouTube about the HTC One.

No, don't bother trying. The digitiser/glass is fused/bonded to the LCD and is very, very difficult to separate, so you'd just be wasting your time. Buy the whole LCD/digitiser assembly, and you'll be good

They're probably torn apart for good.. Try if you wanna, but it isn't recommended. There was an article on the xda portal about this a few weeks ago. You should read that to know about all the risks involved..

Dude just send it in for repair ... if you try and repair it it's going to cost you a fortune every time you attempt to repair a part you'll destroy 3 others.
T-mobile has a Refurb you can buy for $312 cash

it's not a matter of Faith it's just facts .. have you ever separated a digitizer from glass or an lcd ? it's an 11 on a scale of 10 in difficulty
if you tried it 100 times you would get maybe one working one.
and you have one chance to get it right .. good luck
I went to a cellphone repair center yesterday to get an iPhone's digitizer replaced, and I asked one of the guys who worked there if they fixed HTC One's too, and he said "no those phones are on our blacklist, you try to fix one thing you'll end up breaking something else." I think it's best to no try to open up this device. I know how you feel though, you really want to try to fix it on your own, but I can tell you from experience, some devices aren't meant to come apart, let alone put back together properly.

[Q] Two SCH-I800s, one dead, one damaged, question about a fix.

So I've got two SCH-I800s
One's working fine (battery's a little low)but has some cracks in the screen.
The other is in perfect condition but dead (internal storage problem, won't boot, SD booting not working either).
Question is: can I somehow bring the good parts of the two together? Can I take the internals from one and put them in the other? I'd rather avoid replacing the screen because of the methods I've seen for doing so being pretty complicated. I am good with taking devices apart and have been doing so for some time, I just wonder if there's an easy way to do this?
Thanks!!
Just google how to replace the screen and digitizer. U think fixya has a youtube video ob how. This will show you how to take them apart. Then just switch the motherboards and put it back together. Just go in through the back cover.

I've seen that video. But what he does is what I was avoiding. I was hoping it wouldn't involve removing the screen from the tablet because then I have to get new adhesive, the tool to take the screen off, etc etc. I was hoping somebody might now if it's possible to just get the insides out and put them in the non broken screen tab I have. Does that make sense?
Is it possible that if I remove the logic board and leave the screen and it's board intact I can just take the actual tabley logic board to the other tablet and it wil run fine? They are both identical SCH-I800s.

Thats what I was talking about. Go in thu the back. Just stop when you get the motherboard out. No need to remove the digitizer and screen. Then put in the other board. Hook up all the connectors, screws etc. The only thing is the meid numbers wont match.

I know that with my Android phones, I always read that if you swapped parts the software can have trouble communicating with the components and it can cause problems. I will never be selling or sending back these tablets for warranty or anything. Do you think I have anything to worry about? Any possible complications that can arise?
I dont think you should have a problem. I swapped the digitizer with no problem. The other stuff- on/off, volume, etc are just controls. Should have no effect. For the meid, just take the one off the back of the tab. Make sure you copy it and keep it safe. Just to be sure l later.

I dont think there is an issue with the Board.
Recommend you to take it to a service center to identify the proper cause if this glitch

Again, thank you very much. And for me from the beginning I thought that the problem comes rather from the screen rather than the board, but I had doubts around her.. Ok i will take to service center and after that will order a spare parts.
