I have a problem with my phone . A technical one .
in portrait mode the touchscreen is not responsive at all but in landscape everything is just fine.
ofc , i tried other roms , wipped OS , reinstalled it , but it always happens .
it usually work for a day or two (in portrait , but it works like hell , extremely laggy , it double-triple taps when i touch the screen , it does not unlock and i need to take out the battery in order to use the phone again)
Now i am just using the phone with the qwerty out and that is an inconvenient sometimes ..
What could the problem be ( i must mention that i dropped the phone on the floor severel to a hundred times ) , i might think there is a problem with the phones sensor , maybe something at the cables which connect the front side of the phone with the back one or maybe the touchscreen ( but i dont think it is its fault )
some advices b4 im take it to a mobile phone service ?
No advices such as "contact verizon bla bla bla"i am from romania .

Should just be a standard Torx screwdriver set.

Yes, but to replace the digitizer on the Droid3 there is one especially small torx driver required that most kits do not include. I think it is a T3, maybe a T2.5, but in any case I had to look hard to find one online.
Repairing the Droid3 at this level is quite difficult, even with the correct tools, especially if there has been any wear or corrosion of those tiny torx screw heads. They can easily be ruined rather than backing out.
Best left to professionals maybe, and then you have to wonder if it is worth the time and trouble for a Droid3 ?

Not sure if anyone can help with this. I've just replaced my SGS screen after bashing the original in a bike accident. (It's a genuine Samsung part)
Now I've found that phone reception is poor - it's always been a bit borderline in my flat, but after the repair I can't get my network (uk vodafone) inside. I can get it outside. Tried a few different modems without any improvement.
WIFI is fine.
I've opened up the phone again, and made sure all the little tabs are springy and making contact, and all connectors are in place.
Can anyone give me some advice on what else to try? I'm not sure exactly where the radio aerial is in these phones.
Sounds like some connector must be loose. Try a pm to iammodo, he's a samsung repair guy in blackpool. U can find his thread in the themes section. Hope u get it sorted.

Thanks guys. Have checked all the connections again. I'll try iammodo.
Just put my sim into my old blackberry, and have 3 bars - even when the SGS was behaving properly I had borderline reception here - a bar if I was lucky. Pretty poor show eh.

Check that its secured on the screen and the mainboard.
Apart from that return it and get a new one as its part of the screen.

Yep, you should include more details. If you're using official firmware, and it's vibration-enabled already, you should take it to samsung center LOL
Dont use any vibrator apps
They ruin your phone

In case it is an hardware problem!
*#*#0842#*#* - Device test (Vibration test and BackLight test)
The above code lets the user to check whether the vibrating mechanism is fine in terms of hardware or not however one may find quite many steps /procedures to troubleshoot the issue in case it is only arising because of s/w malfunction.
I too had this issue and did SO MANY THINGS to get rid of the problem like reflashing the rom , factory restore, flashing with official and unofficial roms etc.
At last i suspected the h/w issue and UNSCREWED my device.
I used some other mobile phone's vibration motor (it is HIGHLY recommended to purchase the one intended to be used in the particular device).
Note - Please DO NOT opt this option in case you do NOT know how exactly is it going to be (should it be like )
Also , make sure that u have proper tools to unscrew the device and open it up and a soldering kit and two 3-5 cm long thin copper wires (insulated).
Steps-
1. Switch off the phone, remove the back cover, memory card ,sim card and battery.
2. Unscrew the screws (5 in number).
3. Side grill (where volume and power buttons are situated) ,along with the grey colored back portion is to be pulled out SLOWLY with the help of a scalpel or any such similar thing (should be thin as it has to be inserted between the gap between side grill and lcd screen on front side).
4. Now, in the removed grey plastic panel, there will be a black rubber like material covering a tiny WATCH cell like structure (this is the VIBRATOR).
5. Now we need to remove this cell like structure (below the flash light's transparent plastic shield) VERY CAREFULLY , the cell is GLUED on the bottom side , so it is quite difficult to pull it out from the round cylindrical cavity.
6. Similar to step 5 , we need to remove the golden- brown strip attached to the vibrator.
7. Now we need to attach the new vibrator (purchased from market) in the similar manner the older vibrator was attached.
8. Pack the phone as it was in the first place. Please make sure to tighten the screws SLOWLY. once all the screws are placed in proper holes , tighten them all HALF and then after REST.(eg- 360 degree in 1st cycle - all screws then in 2nd cycle, tighten them all to most)
9. Now check , your phone's vibration should now work (Mine worked with a cheap, other phone's vibrator )
Congrats! We are done with the process.
I have attached two pictures for reference (they do not have original vibrator's depiction though).
Note- If u have some other phone's vibrator , u need to solder the two terminals on motor (vibrator) to the golden terminals (shown in the images)
NOTE - You can always visit any authorized service center to get things on track as it is of no use if u end up in RUINING your phone.
Thanks
Let me know if u succeed or if u require help.
All the best.
P.S- In case ur CAMERA has got some dust , u can remove it by simply cleaning the camera lens and inside of the transparent plastic shield (on the grey panel).

What I recommend is taking it to a service centre. You'll be paying for the vibrator anyway so why not pay a bit extra for the service & be on the safer side ? If you take the risk yourself, it might land you in a deeper trouble perhaps with the delicate parts being handled & a lack of experience.

Hahaha.
Well though i have never worked in any service center but I have experienced them a lot like- Nokia, Samsung ,Micromax, LG.
I have seen them working and if you ever get a chance to see the style of their working , u will feel PAIN in ur chest (Yeah , i am talking about authorized service centers only). I have been to Nokia centers more than 15 times, samsung - 5-6 times, MMX- 3 times, LG- 1 time.
Recently I had this camera lens dirt issue , I went to a local repair shop and he literally LOOTED me by drawing 250 Rs just for cleaning the camera lens (That too was not done properly) and he took merely 5 mins to unscrew - open- clean- pack.
Anyway, I preferred the idea to try it by own ( I think I should mention here that I am an Electronics and Comm. Engrr. by profession so dealing and playing with circuits, PCBs, Motherboards etc is not alien to me and may be this is why i have enough courage to take such risks.)
Moreover , my phone is about to complete 2 years and as the warranty is over and lack of trust on service centers I just do NOT want to visit them at all.

Hi friends,
My SGA getting old because of lot of times put onto bed and floor. So if i asked Samsung show room whole panel(case)its very costly. So im planned to change Back Panel only.Where can i get the panel alone.Pls suggest me.
Check e-bay, people who broke their screens or something else often buy new phones, proceeded by the selling of parts of their old phone, which would be the GT-S5830 in this case. Otherwise you can search online shops. Samsung will change the entire body and that'll be too costly.
Alternatively:
Get a (tight fitting) silicon cover. It protects your phone, solves the problem of having cracked/dirty/loose back panel and also is easily replaceable.
Happy to help.

Good luck!
so i switched my phone off to get out the SD card but it won't switch on again....not in recovery mood...not i download mood...nothing its just black screen !
i tried several things like 1)removing the battery and waiting for several hours and pluging the battery again
2)charging the mobile (the mobile got hot from the back though as if it was charging)
3)connecting it to a laptop
when i lost hope and was just about to go to Samsung one of my friends whose brother is a mobile expert and a developer told me to give the mobile to him and he can fix it for me so i gave it to him but before i do i dropped my mobile into a bag filled with acetone.....he said that it is not a problem he can clean it for me and find out why its not working he kept working on it for 2 days but no results...he just cleaned it from the aceton (he said he knew because the camera was white but now it's normal) and he tried opening it but he couldn't catch the problem ! so i am planning to go to the insurance company but i am scared that they will refuse to help me because 1)the phone was opened from the inside 2)i used it wrongfully which caused the dis-function 3)it was a rooted phone
i know i talked alot but i would really appreciate it if someone told me if i can just fix it myself or do i really have to go and is it a good possiblity that they will refuse to fix it for me and if they did what should i do ?
i know the problem is complicated but can someone please help me or tell what to expect at the warranty center
You have to pay almost half of the amount you paid to bought it to get it repaired at warranty centre

warranty is void . You cant take it to insurance company it'll be turned down instantly . Its probably a dead board . Or something shorted.
hey guys, so i have the LG Optimus 2X, P990-HN, i'm with Fido (doubt it matters) anyway, there was a large crack in my screen, and i just dealt with it for a long time, but eventually the glass FELL OUT, the rest of it worked, but i couldn't leave it, so i ordered a new Digitizer from DealExtreme.com and it was about $50 CAD, reviews tell me it worked, googled it nobody else had complaints, so i doubt it's a fake or anything, all the way from singapore, i put it in and i can see everything clearly through it, beautiful, but zero response from the touch screen. none at all in any area, what could it be? also, if i take the screen out to re-seat it do i need to apply heat and completely remove it, and if so will that make it garbage and need a new one? will the heat kill it? i'm quite upset because it costed 50 bucks and took a long time to get here, and i finally put it in and it doesn't work, all help appreciated!
Have you tried the service center ? One probable way to check if the new one really works is to connect the old one back and see if touch works.. You might have accidentally pulled out some other connection .. just my guess

I have done this twice with OK success. It is important to connect all electronics correctly - check YouTube for guides. But even if you did all correct be digitiser might be defect. Either you being it to service centre or redo digitiser install. Maybe, you can check before closing the phone, and if not working correctly check with your old digitiser. Heating and reheating should be no problem (although nothing is without risk). Good luck.

hey, thanks for helping me out. i think the digitizer MUST be defective, i took it apart and put the old SHATTERED one in, and it works FINE, aside from you know... being shattered. then i plugged the other NEW one in, and no response from the touchscreen. the ribbon wire looks to be fine, the connection to the logic board was fine, everything was hooked up right (or the other one wouldn't have worked right?) so if i cant SEE anything wrong with a digitizer, what could even be wrong with it, it MUST be defective, but what can really be defective about a digitizer? what can go wrong on something with so little to break...?
Don't know what is wrong, but it must have been defect before you got it. Try to return it to the seller/shop as soon as possible and get your money back.
