v20c? - LG Optimus 4X HD

There's very little info on it. Performance? Do our kernels work properly with it? Does it come with gapps? Yes I'm that bored, someone please indulge me

Sure? v20b had higher temp limits for brightness, and I remember hearing there were some differences. You used it personally?
Sent from my smart frying pan (Tegra 3)

No i haven't truth to be told u sure about higher brightness temp limit?
I'm thinking its the same, since 20a was for Europe and most of the world, 20b was for some Asian countries, and 20c was for turkey and arab countries. One region never had two jb versions

I felt it was higher, noticeable in low usage, v20a will limit to 70% almost instantly on stock kernel, v20b would actually require some use. It also got hotter. Perhaps that was the only change, maybe based on safety regulations of that region or something

Thought screw it, flashed v20c. Noticed one major difference, my network no longer freezes maybe that's just the baseband that came with it. The UI also doesn't seem to lag as much when downloading stuff

Next Software update for LG 4X?

Does anyone know when the next software update for the 4X will avail?
Features I think should be added:
Better battery consumption
Quick Voice
Notification LED for back light buttons

current technology do not offer better batteries at all, so wishing that is like hoping we can advance the hardware, without new technology.
your best and current way of seeing a better battery life is using a OC app, and turn down top speed on all cpu's. and thats how LG sell you improved lifetime on batteries, and you hardly notice. secondly undervolt it and use a different governor too.
Seems there is new V10E for Benelux, Czech and Germany. Folks on Russian forums have successfully applied this update, but so far no info about any significant changes.

I do use an OC app but just to set the min to 860. I don't want to change the max because overall this is a 1.5GHz phone and that's the main reason I bought it. I kinda see a improvement in bat life.

Having sold my Galaxy S3 and bought one of these there are two really annoying things,
1- You can't organize your app tray into alphabetical
2- They have removed the inbuilt battery % function.
I know I can use custom launchers, but I shouldn't have to and any advice on a decent app for battery % or maybe I am missing something
You mean percentage on battery icon?
You must tick Battery percentage in Power saver settings

Use the app NoLed for notifications, it's a great tool
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...lt#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5sZWQubm90aWZ5Il0.
Actually do use Touch LED notifications app but it drains battery cause its always running in the backgrounds and it's a third party app which I don't like

According Russian forums so far known these changes in V10E:
you can turn off shutter sound in camera;
new sound for alarm clock;
new icon for stock browser;
improved overall and in games performance;
probably less RAM usage.

Seems this is only for T-Mobile branded devices? So i'd suppose this only "improves" the branding.

[Q] Firmwares ?

Hey, I am currently looking threw all the different kdz's available for all the different countries and versions, and I came across a question that I had imagined would have already been asked/answered but I can't find any.
which firmware version and country is the best ? For both and either speed, or battery, especially battery.
is the newest one the best for battery and speed or worse at one then any others ? And which countries is best?
Also, which ones do I steer clean of because they cannot root? I heard some of them cannot root and got scared.
?
Anyone?
From what I have read latest versions have best battery, but at cost of performance. As for country just flash your own countrys builds

dont think this is true .
im running dutch (NLD) V10h and im getting more battery time then most people here.
i get 4 hours 15 minutes actual use time (so excluding standby time) so with screen on doing something with atleast 1 hours browsing and 1 hour video.
and i have a antutu score of 11500 which is about as high as ive seen it.
the problem with may people benching this is that they do it after not rebooting the phone for days or even weeks or having a ton of apps open.
that is not how you benchmark you benchmark with all other apps closed after a fresh boot thats how you get optimal scores.
so V10H is just perfect for me with only 1 partial wakelock issue that sometimes uses 1/2% battery and cant be explained or found but thats no biggy.
so i dont think theres theres a reason not to update to v10h theres no nedative effect.
(as a note i completely updated OTA not trough flashing a .kdz)

Benchmarks dont reflect actual performance, the few games that do lag on this phone lag a lot more on 10h due to overheating protection

GPU locking?

Anyway to change/lock frequency? I tried using the app "tegra overclock" but its not working, guessing we need custom kernel. Interesting their app figures default is 528mhz when in fact ours runs at 468mhz default. Maybe this lower speed compared to other devices is the cause of lags, tegra overclock can lock to quad core mode but performance did not improve, this is why I suspect its the gpu

bigger problem is thermal senstor causing throttling ... on 10A - 10D games runs great (ok, not great but better) on next releases where try limit heating games lags , even official 20A ... but on leaked HK 20B games runs again great... so i hope for official 20B euro open, or (when LG releases sources) custom roms and custom kernels...

I'm on v10a, a few games still run crappy like Spiderman, annoying when its smooth for one x. Since the dev clearly knows what they're doing with tegra 3 I've asked if they can add option to disable/adjust throttling. Shame the gpu clock doesn't work but I am guessing that needs kernel support.

Low 3D MARK scores post yours.

So, i'm getting a really low 3D Mark score for a "gaming" device like this, i think that Nvidia do something wrong with the Tegra 3 GPU, i got it running at 650Mhz and i get like 3000 points... other devices on the same range get a lot better scores... what to do to get better 3D on our 4X?
Well this is my score...I'm not sure our much other devices get, but from the results our O4X is in the same range as the Note 2...so I guess that those results aren't that bad...
Btw I used the official CM10.1.0 rom with stock cm kernel...

Are you running anything else? I ran at stock speeds (no overclock anything) and got 4100-4200 on five straight runs. I have no idea what a normal score for the Tegra 3 is supposed to be.
I get same result. My kernel nothing touched from defaults.
I think it is ok all tegra 3 devices get similar scores one x+ gets about 3800.
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
for benchmarking, stock rom > aosp rom > cm based roms > other roms, from my experience. even when you bring custom kernels to the table, it's the same.
edit:
f.e., on quadrant, stock with custom kernels could go around 6100, aosp rom we have went to 5500, cm based went up to 4800, while others went up to 4500.

yeah, that might be the issue. unfortunately, tegra3 in our phone didn't quite live up to my expectations, which sux since even nexus7 has better performance than our phone. didn't try dead space either, so cant really tell. i did try vice city and nfs, they ran quite good on stock for me.

Does it? 3DMark benchmarks disagree.
I did manage to reproduce the OP's results though. I installed TegraOverclock and suddenly my 3DMark results were the same as the ones he posted. If I uninstall it I get the attached image.

and i can post my image of benchmark with 3200 score, overclocked . since my score is as valid as yours, we might as well take the average that's on the website - and the average number says that nexus7 performs better than o4x.
on the other hand, i dont game much these days, and the games i do run, run well enough. so, it's just a benchmark, a number; however i have expected tegra3 in this phone to have higher number than tablet with practically identical chip in it

While it is indeed just a number, it does actually measure something. Unless my configuration is somehow exploiting it specifically to achieve those scores, you might wish to see why you underscore so much and fix it. The phones are identical after all, and no one is talking about fancy coolers or the like as exists in PCs.

I did some testing, and may have the answer for you. The vanilla iodak sets the CPU to 1.7GHz and the 3D and 2D GPU to 520MHz, all of which are maximum values, hence the very good 3DMark scores. If you use an app such as TegraOverclock and set those values you should get the same scores or at least very close to them. I did notice that any attempt to apply an overclock to the GPU was instantly rejected. If I tried to set it to 600MHz it was immediately set at... 300MHz, so as far as I can tell, 520 is the highest possible.

it puts to 300mhz because is the minimun, in 520mhz the minimun is 200...
Edit: flashed back V20C, getting 3570 stock, i will flash Iodak again.. and test... without donwloading tegra overclock...
Edit again, this is with iodak v6 stock settings it seems that thegra overclock app reduces the performance of our devices...
Stock kernel has its gpu running at 200mhz base, scaling up to 416. Custom kernels can increase that, which leads to higher scores. I got 4k by increasing gpu to 520mhz. I don't see how just having tegra oc installed could break anything

Need some build.props

I am talking to the developer of tegra overclock and we are discussing build.prop differences between tegra devices. He is currently comparing my stock v20a with his HOX, can I have:
1: v10a-v10d build.prop
2: Any CM based rom build.prop
3: Any other tegra device you may own (eg: nexus 7)
Hopefully some comparisons will help us find the best values for great performance
