5 phones with the same problem? Sounds like user error to me.
No one else is reporting this issue nor have I ever experienced it with my phone.

I had same issue after installing 4.2.2
Touch wasn't disabled when calling, and i would put ny phone into airplane mode during call.
Flashing ElementalX solved the issue for me.

It's your ear that switches the phone into Airplane mode. It's especially common for people who hold the phone with their left hand to their left ear. HTC have poorly calibrated the sensor and as such, have dropped the ball on the most important function of a smartphone and that's making phone calls. It happens to me everyday and it's infuriating.
No-one has come up with a fix. HTC should. It's a disgrace

Same exact problem for me I am sure it has only started happening to me since latest update. It's turned the best phone I have every had into one of the worst. I have just installed rezound app that allows you to calibrate the prox sensor. See how it goes tomorrow as this has been happening to me every day sever times a day from disconnecting calls to airplane mode to randomly redialing last calls

Touch screen going CRAZY

I think I have the weirdest problem with my Sensation XL.
It works fine and sometimes, when I unlock it, the touch screen goes into super frenzy mode and starts doing things on its own. When it's stuck in that mode, I cannot use it, and it clicks buttons around randomly and very fast.
I have seen it open my messages, swipe a long gibberish text and send it (!) or this morning it just opened contacts and deleted one!
I am pretty sure it's all in random because on the keyboard I can see it swiping very randomly around the screen and in a very fast speed.
What on earth is this and how do I stop it? It almost looks like a virus or some sort of spyware but I checked and see nothing malicious installed.
The phone is about 8 months old and is not rooted. Latest firmware installed.(4.0.3 Android version).
The crazy behaviour did not coincide with any updates in software. Just started 3 weeks ago randomly and happened maybe 5 times till now.
The only way to stop your phone going mad and doing something you don't want it to do is to quickly rip the battery off, because you are unable to restart it from the touch screen.
It only happens after you unlock it, not while you're using it and I noticed it happens after a long period of inactivity.
Has anyone had that? Any help is very appreciated!
Thank you

Lock the screen and open it again. If this doesn't stop it could be a Hardware problem
I also had some problems like this on the original firmware, but rarely, it got fixed when i flashed Incredibly Cool Sense v3. You should lock the screen not to rip the battery off, as it's faster and it should work

I don't think it's a hardware issue cause the phone works well most of the time. If it was hardware the problem would be permanent, not intermittent and especially so occasional.
Must be something software related, I did add a lot of games to the phone recently but the problem happens even when these processes aren't running in the background which is puzzling.
Locking and unlocking the screen postpones the problem, it doesn't solve it. As soon as the screen is unlocked, it immediately goes crazy again.
I can only solve it by pulling the battery out, and FAST, before it sends crazy messages to my contacts

Welcome to the club. I had that same issue. But after a hard reset everything is fine with mine.
I assume that there was an app causing all that. If after a hard reset still does that you should send it for repair
If you have a screen protector its can be a main reason for this. To stop this behavior you can use power button and wake up it again. Some htc devices have the problem with multi touch screen
Issues of production. Clear the screen products with some alcohol and see than.

I don't have a screen protector actually and the screen is usually clean.
Must be some app, I wonder there was some way to find out which without having to do a hard reset and lose everything

You can't! There is no way you can find out which one is causing that. Maybe it's some update from something that is causing the freezing.
Last night i did notice something else though. My battery was almost empty and i took my gf charger. She has S2 and after i charged my phone it has started to act strange......... Even today after i pluged the phone to install something from the PC it didn't even notice that i have connected it to the PC. Took me about 20 min in/out to get it running I clean the usb slot every week so it is not a dirt issue....
it happens with me when there's water on the screen
Send from my lovely Sensation XL, from a little town in france with a very very slow internet connection.
Mine was also weird when it rains but then I installed android 4.0 Rom and it was much much better it still has the music app problem but I has installed rocket music player and now I don't have any errors at all at with the minfree low memory killer enabled it has high free ram.. still without its holds battery long time and is very smooth defenly try that great Rom

Be careful from contiouas pressure on screen it may drive it to behave strangely .
Try to use lock code before putting the phone into pocket
Sent from my HTC Runnymede using xda app-developers app
Definitely on to something.
It has happened a few times when it was drizzling and there were tiny droplets on the screen (not proper rain).
It started acting up when I was swiping the screen against the tiny droplets. After locking it, it would stop responding...
Most of the times I find it either non reponsive or acting weird after I take it out of my back pocket and try to unlock it.
Maybe being in my pocket, even locked, affects it somehow.
Is it easy to put another Rom? Do I lose all my apps?

Yes you will lose all your apps.
Yes I have the same behaviour, its usually moisture from my hand, greasy buildup, water droplets and or being in my pocket the pressure on the screen makes it act up too, wouldnr worry bout it, not every screen design can be perfect ; )

sorry to bump an old thread.
I have this problem on a bashed up screen. however... I don't think it can be hardware because if I hard reset its then OK on the next boot...
we need to learn more about touchscreens - how are they calibrated? I think it is reset on boot and also on each lock
Its the LCD ribbon touching the metal housing, short circuiting the screen, easy fix with a piece of tape over the ribbon
Edit
Also, once the phone heats up resistance builds up with it causing the issue
Sent from my cm9 using xda app-developers app
I had that same issue.
You won't loose any of your data if you made a back up before instaling the new rom
if I was of any help Just hit the thanks button

Loudspeaker turning on randomly during call

As the title says it turns on without touching the phone, after calling sb. It never seems to turn on while receiving a call. I am 100% I didn't touch a thong as sometimes it happens while I have the phone in hand and I can clearly see that the loudspeaker is activated as soon as I place the call. I read it's a common problem. Anyone found any soulution? Do you have it too?

+1 no solution so far
It was chrome. Latest update fixed it
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Some say it could be a short or something on the USB port. I cleaned mine (lint and things) and it seemed to help... But it happened again and it's clean as whistle so I'm hopping it's chrome. I haven't had an issue since it's last update, seems weird though.

Dropped Calls CM11 M4

I'm getting a lot of dropped calls on my G2, I've re flashed it a few times but still the calls drop. I've also edited the mobile network settings and changed the preferred network type and it still drops after about 5 minutes. I even put in a replacement sim card as well as gotten a replacement phone. Anyone have any ideas?
I have problems with the proximity sensor, maybe you're hitting the hang up button with your cheek

I doubt it I've tried holding it at just about every angle and it still happens :/
Tried some more stuff
Okay so now I'm absolutely 100% sure it's the rom. I've tried flashing on the nightlies which to my surprise were a lot more stable than the milestone release I was on. I tried using google voice and voice+ in order to voip the calls, which worked but still dropped like a fly. I held the phone at every angle possible so the proximity sensor is definitely ruled out. I have a fairly good connection in my area and was able to call on stock without any issues. It also appears that I am the only one experiencing this type of problem. Is there somebody out there that can help me troubleshoot it?
Make sure you leave your lock screen in place as your ear may be hang your phone up. :good:

I figured it out, just said screw it and moved to another rom. Now the calls no longer drop.

Phone shutsdown when Location enabled

Hi all,
I'm running out of ideas and could use another opinion please:
N6 running 5.0.2 (this is the second one incidentally, I sent the first one back for this same problem) - the phone will shutdown under certain circumstances. When this happens it does not restart, you have to press the power button to restart it. Mostly this happens when I use the Google Camera stock application to take a photo but only ever when the phone is not connected to WiFi. I have had it happen when I open the camera app as well (without taking a picture), if you put your ear to the upper speaker as soon as the camera app is opened you can here a cell location signal (similar to the sound you hear when you put your phone near a speaker) and then the phone turns off. I can stop this happening by using a third party camera app. I can also stop this happening if I disable Google location.
Yesterday I wiped the phone, signed in with my Gmail, and took 25 pictures, all OK. I then turned on Google Now, took one photo and the phone turned off. This is definitely something to do with location data but I don't understand why nobody else is experiencing this ? Maybe the phone is faulty but I'm going to have a hard to explaining that as I sent the last one back for the same reason.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Simon.
Glad I'm not the only one having this issue. I've seen this happen on my N6 too, both on 5.0.x as well as on 5.1. I've seen this happen even while unlocking the phone (I have face unlock enabled), and yes this happens mostly when using the camera. Never knew it has to do something with location services.
I'm running completely stock and unrooted by the way. I guess I should try flashing the factory image
Yes same with me, stock phone unrooted and although using the camera is the best way to get this to happen you are right, it sometimes happens at other times as well. If I go to an area with no WiFi and poor phone signal I can get it to happen everytime the Google Camera app is opened, so I have to resort to taking pictures in Airplane mode.
This has happened to me since I have had this phone and its replacement and I am curious to know why, when you open the Google camera app, if you immediately put your ear to the upper speaker it becomes active for about 3 seconds ? After that three second burst of sound the phone will turn off. To me, it sounds like a location signal is being sent when the camera is opened.
Yet turning off geolocation?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2
same thing happening here,i was out today and when i tried to open the camera app phone kept crashing, soon as i was home on wifi camera app worked fine,i've switched off the location thing to see if that helps

HTC One problems

Hi community!
I've recently gotten my 2nd refurbished HTC One M7..
Here's a list of problems I am having using it:
-Power button is broken, so infra-red isn't working and I can barely turn the phone off/on with that button
-There is a custom rom installed, called soul rom/kernel, which is poorly translated and I can't find any English stuff about it only a Chinese site which I can't understand.. This soulrom causes the battery to last way shorter than the last one did, and it also causes the phone to overheat, a lot. Even though I put the soulrom -> kernel Thermal settings on Extra cool..
-The rear-camera is broken, not focussing, blurry and making a buzzing noise
-Phone calls don't work, only work with earphones. I can't hear the person who calls and they can't hear me..
-Since today, the Wi-Fi isn't working, so I can only use mobile network data which costs me quite some money..
The Wifi problem is this: Wi-Fi says it is turning on, but I can't stop it from turning on, and it is stuck on turning on, it won't turn on or off at all, I have tried airplane mode, rebooting, safe mode rebooting, hot reboot, rebooting from bootloader, rebooting from recovery, quite about everything..
I have searched quite a few forums and threads.. The power button issue is hardware-related so there is no fix for that probably..
The rom is fine but that might be the problem for phone call and/or wifi issue.. Might be..
Could use any help!
Thanks, Patrick.
