Assuming the device is seen by fastboot, you need to specify the path to the recovery img
have you unlocked ur bootloader to run fastboot commands?

Same opinion here, most likely the cause is the missing path to the file.
Attempted my first root and ROM flash.
Followed HTC Holiday Superguide instructions (I did skip the S-OFF bit) then tried to flash CyanogenMod 10 using these instructions. Got stuck on the CyanogenMod flash screen. Don't quite remember what I did in my panicked attempts to recover. I did relock the bootloader at some point.
Now the phone continually boots to HBoot.
Can't find the RUU I need anywhere (Telstra 3.44.841.3).
Should I return to Apple in shame having found myself not man enough for rooted Androids? Or can someone help me regain some self-respect?

When I choose RECOVERY, it displays the HTC logo while a status bar fills up, then it goes back to HBoot.

Okay so you no longer have a custom recovery installed ? Is your HBOOT still locked ? If it is still locked unlock it and Flash TWRP or WCX recovery and see if you can boot into recovery.

It is still locked, but can I flash TWRP or WCX without having access to the phone's internal SD card through Windows? I don't know how to get them on there without that (when I connect the phone to my PC, I don't get the option anymore).

No SDCARD ?
Either way you can have the recovery saved to some place on your PC and flash it to the phone. In HBOOT you should select fastboot USB and this will allow you to send fastboot commands to the phone. EX fastboot flash recovery recovery.img to flash a recovery.

Sorry, I realised after I posted my last reply that you said I should try that earlier, I but had to wait five minutes before XDA would let me post again.

Your set.. you should be able to flash your rom of choice and fastboot flash boot boot.im (I'm assuming your not S-OFF) and then the phone will boot up like it should. The boot.img file will be located in the ROM zip but you may have to push modules around to get wifi to work depending on the ROM.

Okay, I'll have another crack at it, then. Thanks very much, esloan. I really appreciate your help.
Well, I haven't managed to get anywhere. I've tried flashing a couple of different ROMs, but I couldn't get them to boot. When I boot into recovery, I get a bunch of "Can't mount" notifications. Is that bad?
Did you start with clockworkmod?
If so...
Boot to recovery...
Mount via USB(in the mount menu)
Hook to windows...
Let windows format it...
Try again
CWM has a problem with formatting/wiping

Doesn't work any recovery on my incredible s (when I go to recovery, I see only HTC logo), boot loader is unlocked but phone haven't s-off. May be cause of trouble in s-on?

How did you install these custom recoveries? You need to flash them in FASTBOOT USB mode with an unlocked bootloader.
You need to copy the recovery's img file to the same directory where you install and run ADB.exe and FASTBOOT.exe from and then enter the following command:
fastboot flash recovery [name of recovery.img file]
I did so

Hope the process of flashing didn't show "FAILED"...if then everything should be fine.
No errors, write is successful, but doesn't work
I forgot to say, that hboot shows "eMMC-boot", what does it mean?

boot.img is the kernel, not the system.
have you tried the fastboot flash command with a valid boot.img (not revcovery)?
or if you were trying to flash recovery and not boot.img have you tried again using the right command?
sounds like it should be easier to fix than go back to stock with ruu....
Surely flashing a Rom in recovery would fix that?

where can i find this boot.img for my build (mentioned in the pic )

im s-on so im not sure if that's gonna make any difference
and my biggest problem is the signature verification (in recovery and boot-loader )
You cab disable signature verification in cwm. And as you are s on you can only flash newer versions or RUU not old ones. Flashing a Rom any Rom would flash the boot image and should be all good
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda app-developers app
i tried both methods
cwm signature is disabled but still cant flash
i tried the 4.4.2 ruu but the same problem even when im using bootloader

rom.zip is encrypted you can't extract from it
find your stock recovery here >> http://d-h.st/users/guich/?fld_id=29380#files
If it's not their you'll need a decrypted RUU to extract the boot.img

The ruu is probably encrypted, so you can't open it. Find someone with the same firmware and ask them to make a backup of their boot partition, you can then flash the boot image backup in fastboot.
Hi guys i got an htc one in placw of my samsung grand
I managed to unlock the bootloader using cmd and tried flashing a recovery. However after the flash when i try booting into recovery mode from bootloader, it first gives the entering recovery screen but then screen blacks out and then it reboots as normal.
Now htc just got a lollipop update and i want to update, but when it enters recovery, it blacks out and then reboots as normal due to the fail recovery
Before i tried flashing each and every reocvery and the same happened... Then i just left it at a version of cwm ( didnt work also) .
Now shall i flash stock recovery? What if that dosent work? Is there any way to do it without a pc or any other computer?

Did you use the correct version of the recovery you flashed? I mean are you sure it wasn't a Sprint or Verizon recovery?
Secondly did you fastboot erase cache after flashing recovery?. This is the no.1 reason for recovery bootloop. Flashing recovery should be done like so.
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery "name-of-recovery".img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then select recovery from the bootloader for the first time load.

Yes there is one. 7.19.980.5 posted in the general section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/general/lollipop-ruu-zip-small-collection-t3053944
see post #2.
If your phone is already on a 6.xx.980.x or 7.xx.980.x firmware you can flash it.

To find your firmware version it's best to use command
Code:
fastboot getvar all
this will show you a list of your devices version information.
You can post the list here if you need help but please remove your imei and serial number before posting for your own security.
There are 3 models of HTC One.
Sprint = m7_wls Downloads here http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7wls
Verizion = m7_vzw Downloads here http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7vzw
International = m7_ul or m7_u Downloads here http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
There are also more model numbers for dual sim variants.
You must have the correct version of recovery depending on your model. The getvar info would be very helpful for me to make a recommendation :good:
