Scratches to back, xperia logo, replaceable film? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First, Im sorry if its been covered, but Ive searched extensively and can find no specific answer- Yes, I do know there is a supposed shatter proof film on the back... but if I remove it in an attempt to restore its original luster by adding a new protector, will I loose that elegant xperia logo? Please, someone advise...I hate the fine scratches that show in certain light.

The Xperia logo stays! Only the Sony logo at front gets off with the film.

Brilliant. Thank God that I went and bought a protector for the front..I quite like the emblem.

Shatterproof
Are you sure that the "xperia" logo did not removed when shatterproof screen is removed? (not the "SONY" logo)

[Q] remove or keep the anti shatter film?

i am considering removing the anti shatter film from my xperia z once i get it as the idea of having a 100% blank phone is very interesting to me
however it seems theres alot of negatives doing this (i have bought a screen protector for about 20$ which i will get with the phone)
when removing the anti shatter film it seems you will get
1insane fingerprint magenet (i thought it would be the opposite)
2.extremely hard to clean
would you recommend removing it or keeping it on i just want to remove it to get rid of the sony logo and to have a much nicer feel too it better display and nicer feel
is it recommended to remove it or keep it on? (then apply a normal screen protector)
i bought this one https://www.inet.se/produkt/1999042/invisibleshield-sony-xperia-z-screen-coverage
ofcourse i want the best quality screen protector possible
someone also said the nfx logo comes off at the back whats a nfc logo?
Discussed to death already. Also, a question thread should not be in General.

I removed mine this morning (see separate post) and so far i can only see benefits. The fingerprints were much worse on the shatter film than they are now on pure clean glass.

I want to remove, but I want to keep the Sony logo. As there is no replacement for the Sony logo (yet, maybe it'll come with future screen protectors with sony logo on it), I'm not removing it.
The Sony logo looks beautiful on this device.

the sony logo does look nice
but imagine a completely blank glass front i think that would actually look better
like a piece of glass no buttons nothing you can't tell it's a phone from the front
So just to confirm, on this premium device the Sony logo is technically only a sticker??

yes
but the back isn't the ugly safety signs at the bag are inside the glass
why not the opposite?

Er yes but looks better without anything after i removed the film.
i will get my phone today and i am still not sure if i should
whats worrying me now is damage
i read it can litterally damage the phone and break the water proofing how true is this?
then theres the fingerprint thing is it better or worse without it?
i want to remove it then apply a real screen protector to fix fingerprint issues
the damage part worries me though
i do want the sony logo off though

Your son scratched a plastic surface.
Take it off, buy a screen protector, and replace.
The xperia z has a glued on anti shatter film that you can remove and replace with any screen protector of your choice. The only downside is that you lose the Sony logo
Press thanks if I have helped

Yeah it's only the anti shatter film. But if you do remove it you will loose the Sony logo. Some people find that a plus. Also some reporting more responsive screen.

Why the Sony logo does not come pressed on the screen but in the film?
Screen Technology?

This. This is my guess. Sony doesn't have a history of cheating so I doubt that's the reason now.

In another forum, a guy said he was part of screen technology, which because it is thin, it would be impossible to press the Sony logo.
He had posted a picture explaining!
Yeah really hate the fact the Sony logo is pressed on the film. It's the only reason why I haven't removed mine. I have a hard enough time already telling which way is the right way up. Just hope we don't see another omnibalace design from Sony. The bottom bezel looks much bigger than it should be.
I prefer on screen buttons but I thought that was meant to help reduce the chassis. Maybe Sony was absent at that meeting because the Z is certainly taller than it needs to be.

If you look closer, you'll notice it has symmetrical proportions, so i guess sony guys had that on their minds... ZL is living prof that extra dimensions are here just cause pure esthetics. My only complain... they could have put larger battery also then...

I cant find anywhere on the net if the xperia logo on the back is pressed into the glass or the 'shatter-proof film'...the reason I ask is that I have protected my screen, but the back has small scratches. Ide hate to loose the xperia logo in an effort to renew its original luster with a new film...anyone know?

The Xperia logo in thw back doesn't come out while removing the film.

Check with your country's sony store if removing asf does void warranty before removing it.
Since Sony doesn't want people to remove the screen protector is there any type of anti fingerprint coding on it? I mean If I remove the screen protector will the screen be nice to use or will it just get all smudged in fingerprints that are impossible to remove?

No coating, just straight glass...but I'd recommend getting a matt finish (anti smudge) screen protector if u are going to remove.. Or unless ur screen is already scratched, simply apply it over the top of the factory one. Couldnt personally tell a difference in responsiveness by doing so.

Anywhere to buy OEM Shatter layer with Sony logo?

Is there any place you can buy the OEM shatter layer for the xperia Z (With Sony Logo)?
I guess many people don't put on the screen protectors that comes with the box, not knowing about the shatter layer that is not scratch-resistant. Would be great to replace with a new one, then put on a screen protector..

so far theres non.. but later on maybe some will sell with a sony logo.. but for best when you unboxed ur Z,just put the free protector, front and back.. it could spare the built in layer.. and whhen the time ull remove it,we hope theres somebody who sells with a sony logo.
Yes, I have never had the need for screen protector on my other phones, so this being the first time I installed one, I failed miserably.
However I bought a Copter Screen protector yesterday, much easier to apply.
Yes,the built in though its thick.. So i already bought another prtctor with thin film,so the touch response will not degrade.. Are you annoyed living your XZ Not having a sony logo?

It just does not feel right removing the Sony logo on a brand new phone.. I like things to be original. But I have not read about anyone having problems after removing it, so it is a solution for those with scratched shatter films I guess.

The ASF comes as part of the front glass, so it won't be available.
No-one seems to sell a suitable SP with the logo on.

[Q] Remove tiny scratches on screen ?

Good evening!
I have a Z without any protection film. I have noticed than in some angels or in direct contact with strong light i have TINY TINY scratches on my screen. So my question is: Is there any way of removing scratches from my device? Polish for.example?
Answers will me much appriciated !
Sorry for bad English ..
There should be a shatter proof screen protector already applied on. It came with the phone like that, so you most likely scratched that not the glass itself. Just remove that and apply a screen protector on.

Be aware, when removing factory foil,Sony logo removed as well...

No way to remove the scratches if they are on the shatter proof shield. It's made of plastic.
If you remove it, though, you will lose the Sony logo because it is printed on the plastic, rather than on the body of the phone.
I have removed the pre-applied protector from sony Its the glass itself that have tiny scratches ..

Do you still have the SONY logo at the front of your screen??
If you don't then: Well it's your own fault, you asked for it by not using a screen protector.
I don't think we're all on the same page. He could have removed the layer that came with it (with words on it like instructions) and then there's another layer that has the Sony logo.
Like what the above person said,
if you do not have a Sony logo at the front top then you scratched the glass.
If you have the Sony logo at the front top then you scratched the pre installed layer. (this one you can remove and install a new screen protector) if you choose to remove this layer, the Sony logo will be gone. And some say it will void your warranty.

No Sony logo under earpiece on front Panel!!!

Hello. Bought a used Xperia V today and when i reached home i looked closely at the front panel of V and i'm shocked to see that there is no Sony logo on front of phone. Other than that every thing on phone looks genuine and its also water proof as checked by the shopkeeper on front of me.
What i want to ask that is its original ? or its chinese made phone ? its model is lt25i. Please answer as soon as possible. thanks.

are you talking about plastic screen protector or scratch resistant glass ?
the sony logo is on the factory fitted screen protector that many users remove. It is nothing to worry about
