[Q] Samsung Focus s stuck on demo mode - Samsung Focus S

Hi Guys, i need your help i bought a samsung focus s and it is still stuck on demo mode, does anyone know how to take it off demo mode. I've tried holding the camera button, lower volume an power button together but it hasn't made a difference. And i went to the about option and theres no option to reset factory settings. I've even emailed samsung and they told me to contact windows as it is their software. This is really frustrating, because the guy who sold me the phone well he doesn't know what to say they only had the one, I had read (You should return the phone because it seems you have bought a demo device and not a retail device, also another person said, I'm sorry to say that demo devices are loaded with different software from retail devices, so it will not be possible to get the device into a 'normal' mode unless you have the technical skills to flash the 'phone with a fresh ROM (see xda-developers.com). I wouldn't normally suggest this, but it sounds as if your vendor may have (perhaps conveniently for them) disappeared from the picture. Note that if you do flash the handset you must be prepared to lose all support from Microsoft, the 'phone manufacturer, and your carrier. In particular you will get no support here on Microsoft Community) and thats ok I'm with the prepaid thing anyway...Any Help is Good help
Thank You

sorry to say my friend but your probably out of luck, there is no ROM for us to flash, official or otherwise, we have no modified boot loader to make our own ROMs and there isn't any update cabs to update you to the correct ROM.
the only thing that I can think of is perhaps some registry entry that can be changed, but you would need to dump your reg and email it over.
but to be clear, I don't know of anyone getting them working, its proabably the same device being passed about, if you got it through ebay I would raise complaint if your unable to speak to the original seller
note that even if you can change the device in to a retail device with the use of a reg entry, you still cant change the ROM version so cant update it

[Q] Branded T-Mobile UK Samsung GLXY S 2

Hi everyone,
I recently upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy s 2 on T-mobile here in the UK. Obvisously it came with T-mobile's version of Android 2.3.3 . When the phone starts up or shuts down, it displays T-mobile's logo wallpaper.
The phones has an option to search for updates, but it can never connect to the server.
It does not have the option to sign into the Samsung account, it does not exist on my handset, only Google account and the usual facebook and others options.
As a result of this I don't have the option to use Samsung's mobile tracker. For those unsure google samsungdive.
I don't need to use other networks on my handset, just T-mobile. T-mobile have removed the tracking option so this is why I want to put Samsung's software on my phone.
My question or what I want to do is this:
1)Remove the current T-mobile Android software from my phone and install Samsung's Android firmware.
2)Have the option of signing into Samsung's account from my phone and be able to use Samsung's tracker.
3)Be able to update to the latest updates as and when available.
Please advise me as to what I have to do or what my best options are.
Thanks very much!
I would flash the stock version of JVR and use a custom kernel like semaphore etc
Sent using geek power
My friend can you tell which modem u r using on t mobile. Or baseband
Baseband version:
I9100BOKG1
I Spoke to Samsung about this and they said because I got the phone through my contract with T-Mobile, T-Mobile have played around with the software and some features are not present compared with buying the phone sim free with the Original Samsung software.
They said if I remove current software and put Generic Samsung software I will void warranty on the phone.
What do you think about this?
Thanks
I'd flash anyway mate, worse case scenario is if you get a fault, you can reset to factory using ODIN. Plus, I have a t-mobile s1 and it was flashed day of purchase from t-mobile, and even if you ring them, they aint really too bothered if its been flashed. Example, I flashed my brothers which played up, he rang t-mobile told them it was flashed they said well done, and would replace it if I couldnt sort it.....which I did.
In a nutshell....flash and dont look back!! Its really quite hard to'kill' an android phone!!

Received Rooted Phone...Please help! sm-n900a ATT

My garbage HTC went out on me and someone gave me a like new Galaxy Note 3. I discovered it's rooted...The person who gave it to me bought it from someone so she doesn't know anything about it. I have no idea how to utilize the root...it has King Superuser on it and I downloaded TWRP because of some research I did...but honestly I don't know how to even begin taking advantage of a rooted phone. There are two things I'd like to do: upgrade from 4.2 to at least 7 AND bypass ATT's bs tethering block. Can anyone please guide me through this step by step considering I'm a layman regarding such things? A reliable source for ROMs and how to flash? I'm guessing I don't have all the apps needed to achieve my desired OS upgrade. I greatly appreciate anyone's time on this. Thank you.
Sorry to be the bearer of sad tidings, but you ain't gonna get there. Go back and do some basic research and you'll find that the Note 3 is very restricted concerning what you can do because of a feature called a locked bootloader. The best you're going to be able to do is load Lollipop, such as AllianceROM Ver. 12. Read, then reread this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2778933 . If you see that if you already have TWRP installed the procedure is rather simple. First, insert a SDHC card in your PC and format it. Then download the SafeStrap files for the ROM onto the root of that SDHC card. Another file you might need is the NC2 firmware (in case you want to revert at a later date. Now, shut down the power to the Note 3 and remove the battery. Reinsert the battery and boot into Recovery. Then do a complete backup onto the SDHC card. Next, do a complete factory reset and wipe. Now you're ready to go back to TWRP main menu and install the ROM file in the STOCK ROM sector. When the install completes reboot the Note 3 and let it run. You will have to enter all your configuration info (name, wifi config, account info, etc.). If you have any problems go back and re-read the instructions. Also, you can try different ROM files, the instructions are generally pretty similar. If you want pure AT&T ROM install the stock OC1 ROM files. Check back and let me know how it worked out for you.
I am sort of in the same boat, I just got a brand new out of the box Note 9 from Sprint, and saw in the hidtory log on the recovery menu that my "core" was swapped (? I think that is what was stated , and it said DEBUG so and so RETURN TO VENDOR IMMEDIATELY. My husband claims by disabling the bloatware it caused that. This is the 5th time it has happen since November. 2 with my Note8, twice with the temp prepaid phone, and now with my new Note9. The recovery screen to my galaxy's always read, no address, no device privapp_ATT . Again my husband said I must have "f-ed" up the phone once again. And XDA just brought up that my device is an AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note3. I know I did not do it, I am too scared to run anything that an possibly damage my phone... I just want to get my phone back to a Note9, and to find a way to keep my husband from changing it. ( I highly suspect he is into developing and made himself admin of the phones as well as our Google accounts). Is there anything I can possibly do??

Well... You seem rather confused about what your situation actually might be. Is the actual, physical device a Samsung Model SM-N900A (Note3 AT&T version) or a Note9?
If it is a Note9, try leaving a question in the Sprint Note9 forum.
If it is a Note3 go back to the main page and start reading up on how to reload the operating system.
Other than that, my suggestion would be to first, take the device back to where you bought it and find out in plain language what the core problem is. Second, ask is the device still under warranty and eligible for free or discounted repair. If the answer is yes, have the repairs made on the spot. If the answer is no, then Google a commercial repair center in your area and give them a call with the information you then have. Chances are they device is hosed as far as warranty, but you don't know until you ask.
Third thing is to lock down your device and do not relinquish the password to ANYONE.
Good luck.

No Bootloader OEM Unlock Option?

I got the S10 recently, and when I went into developer options, the "OEM Unlock" option is missing. This confuses me since I ordered a Hong Kong model (SM-G9730) that supposedly allows for an unlockable bootloader according to people here and elsewhere. Would appreciate it if someone could help shed some light on this. If it matters, in Settings > About Phone, it definitely says SM-G9730 is the model, and under Software Information, the build number is G9730ZHU1ASBA, which is apparently the February 2019 build date.
Same issue
I'm getting the same problem. I am 100% certain without a shred of doubt that I have the exynos version but OEM unlocking does not appear in developer options immediately after developer options is turned on. From what I have noticed in my recent struggle to put this piece of ---- to good use, the OEM unlock option decides to appear after a certain amount of time after developer mode is enabled. Idk whose bright idea this was but if pissing off the customer was their goal then they did a stellar job.
I have this vague memory of reading that the oem unlock option is timed. So I went ahead and set the phone's system time to a month into the future (also checked 24 hour time but im not sure if that had an impact) to 7/9/19 while the phone was connected to wifi and now the OEM unlock option has appeared again. Hope this helps.
I have tried resetting the time trick a dozen times and OEM unlock does not appear. What is really frustrating is that it was there when I first got the phone and I had it turned on. Of course back in March, there was nothing you could do with the phone. Then bright people started to figure out how to root but by then, a firmware update had come along and OEM unlock disappeared. I tried to install Magisk but it failed badly. Now I'm stuck with the first phone/tablet I can't clean up all the unwanted crap I will never use or want. Very frustrating.
you need to wipe data, and when you set up your phone have wifi connected. Then it should appear in the options, if it does not change the time into the future

I have reset the phone back to a previous firmware version, which should have wiped the data completely. I enabled Developers Options right away but OEM Unlock was not there. I tried the time thing again, but to no avail.
Of course my carrier promptly wanted to install the last update which I accepted. Strangely enough, the phone is behaving better since I did this but I still would prefer to have it rooted so I could get rid of a bunch of junk apps.

I bought my device direct from Samsung, S10+, Snapdragon variant and I, too, am not seeing the OEM unlock, even after the time change and after 7 days.

Nope. I believe my carrier must have blocked it from appearing. I've given up all hope of rooting this phone and I'm learning to live with it the way it is. But this may very well be the last Samsung phone I have.

This is unbelievably unreal. All these versions and only two are unlockable? I have always bought my phones direct from the manufacturer to prevent a carrier from telling me what I could and could not do with my phone, now the manufacturer is getting in on it. A waste of $1000. However, I refuse to accept this mode of operation. I will perform better research and find a phone that gives me the freedom I feel I am paying for.
Thanks for the information guys!

Note: You have Internet to be activated. But first i would do all other steps. and then restart, do time sync, deactivate set 7+ days back in time (25-7-2019 > 17-7-2019)
DONE! UNLOCK OEM appers (at least in aprils version)

No it's not.
I just got off of the phone literally less than 5 mins ago with a Telus rep and we were discussing rooting (I'm in this forum wondering if there is a root method for the SD S10 version yet ~ I don't own one). He has the S10 and is waiting for a method to root it. We joked about how the Exynos version is inferior to the SnapDragon one. "Thank god we live in North America" he said.
So I don't know how you got the Exynos S10 from Telus. In Canada you should only be able to get the SnapDragon S10,

You're correct, I was mistaken in thinking the Qualcomm processor was the Exynos version. My apologies for that. Nevertheless, the OEM unlock switch is not available and has not been since the first updated firmware I got from Telus.
When I called Telus to ask about it, I got the run-around and essentially a non-answer. I have to believe it is Telus that is blocking this function although I've not read about anybody having this trouble who is with any of the other carriers. If you are looking to buy, you might explore this theory.

There is no root method yet for the SD S10.
It's not Telus, It's Samsung.
If you want root, don't buy a Samsung device. There will be a method eventually probably, but there has been a problem with root on the S line for quite some time now.
I would recommend a Pixel myself (monthly updates for 3yrs+), but there are other options out there.

Regional Lock

Hi There
Hopefully some insight can be shed on this topic, it would be greatly appreciated.
I've read that all you need to do is use the device in the region of purchase for 5-10 mins of local calls & then the region lock is unlocked to any world wide sim.
- is this still the case with Samsung devices?
- lets say once the device is unlocked (in country of origin) but reset a few months later in another country other than it was bought in, will the region lock be back?
Thanks

so, the question youre asking can be answered in several ways. Firstly, the locks placed on the phones are placed by the carrier, so if your phone is truly unlocked, itll never lock on to a service provider permanently. The process you describe about using it for local calls for a few min to have it grab your carrier is CSC related and more applies to whether you can use SPay and SHealth or not. There are also subsidy locks that make carrier switching impossible without an unlock. These subsidy locks can be in the firmware or even an app that was granted root permissions making it impossible to remove on snapdragon devices outside of Odin.
I guess, what issues are you trying to avoid?

Firstly thanks for taking the time to respond. ?
So I'm not technical at these things but here's a quick background on my query.
A friend purchased a Samsung from an Asian country now while there & the box said specifically that it is made for use in that region and their sim. He's using it but won't know if it will work here till he returns. He is able to get one for me as it's much cheaper there, hence the research on the topic.
Through my search I've seen on Samsung forums people buying phones from difference regions with some able to successfully use it in their country & others not (comments vary on reasoning as to why but the use of that country local SIM seems common)
When he queried the sticker they said to just follow that calling process (I'm presuming now this is the carrier lock) However I'm not sure if there are carrier locks on the device as through my search, that country normally doesn't practice carrier locks (Service Provider) as the US or Europe does as devices are sold at any shop in Asia. So it's a bit confusing..
From your knowledge, let's say he activates & uses it for a few minutes. When he returns & I reset the device, will the lock revert back for that region or will be opened for any sim? And something that just came to mind, as the Samsung devices are regional, will this affect how updates come through or will it be based on that regional timetable for updates?
Thanks again

terrible questions.. i tell ya what..... TOTALLY KIDDING!!
actually very solid questions and its also great to hear people doing this kind of research prior to pulling the trigger. I commend you
Anywho, lets see.
1: What Asian country? Yes, it matters. Or if you can get the model number from the download mode screen, that would be helpful too. If you dont know how to get to the DL mode, power the phone off, hold down the volume down button along with power and itll boot to a warning screen that will say volume up to continue to download mode or volume down to reboot normally. If you cant get that kind of access to the phone (or your friend rather) then its a crap shoot as many phones being offered up like this have been found to be non-us versions or even worse, utter fakes. Buyer beware if you cant get to download mode to at least check that too. Download mode is the hardest part to fake, fwiw
2: Galaxy S devices come in 2 flavors, Snapdragon and Exynos. Well, 3 i guess, the 3rd being fake. Snapdragons are the only ones that can work on CDMA carriers such as Sprint and VZW, Exynos phones work on GSM only. SD phones can also use GSM services, but the Exynos equipped phones are GSM only. SD are not rootable, Exynos are.
3: The part about your friend using it with their SIM and having problems strictly due to that. No. So long as its a legit USA model with no financial locks on it etc etc, you will be just fine. You might have to flash a CSC file in download mode or perhaps even the entire firmware (doubt youd need to do that last part), but if its an unlocked SnapDragon model built for the US market, then youre good to go.
4: make sure it doesnt have a FRP lock enabled. As long as your friend can boot it up and get past the login screen, you should be fine.
5: The last bit about the SIM again, as long as its a legit G973U with no locks and FRP inst on, you should be good to use it on any USA carrier no matter where it was initially used.
6: updates are issues out in order of IMEI batches. Being physically in a country outside of the one that the firmware is for can and often does impede updates, but thats not a worry as updates can be easily flashed manually and once the phone is on the correct CSC and physically in the right country, then updates will go on as normal.
7: youre welcome

Firstly apologies for the long delay in response, just been crazily busy and was doing research on what you said soon I am up to scratch to what you said.
1. It is from India, and yes I am aware of fakes so any purchases will be from reputable seller's. I'll have to do some research on that because I'm sure the different Samsung models will have their own codes.
2. I believe for that region they get Exynos variants.
3. From looking at some of the Samsung models online I see the product code ends with "INS" which I'm pretty sure relates to India and that country only so probably I will have to follow the DL mode you explained for my region in changing the CSC
4. I never knew about this.. How does one make sure its not enabled? Is this in the process that relates to no.3 during the CSC change?
5. Not from the US but good to know lol
6. Perfect lol

Qualcomm SDM855 not reponding after Carrier Aggregation file changing

Hi,
Today I was changing the Carrier aggregation file in a SM-G970U as I did some time ago but after the filo was uploaded and phone restarted I'm getting an intermittent port reading between "Unknown" and SDM855 with blank ESN field.
The phone restarts itself from time to time and is like modem dissapear, no signal and a hang up every time I use the dialer.
Could you help me to take my phone back to life?
Thanks.
Why no one replied to help? What is happening here with the community?
@Sig20, did you fix it? The repair should be possible from EDL at least.
However it is strange that these things are done manually and not by the manufacturer?
I am appalled by the lack of proper software for these machines.
Shame on Samsung Shame shame shame.
Thank you very much for your kindness @Network_Pro .
Unfortunately I had to send the phone to repair because I couldn't fin a software to fix it myself. A forced firmware update didn't work.
Just in case how is the process to use the EDL?
The reason why I had to set the CA combos is the phone model is the US and works ok here in Chle but no Carrier aggregation. After changing the CA Combos it works.
For example like this
In the video the guy said no loader yet for the specific U version (Bit version)
However the loaders usually can be found in the tools such as Miracle tool etc. (searching with yandex reveals some information)
The repair center, did they fix it by software or they had to replace the board?
