Hi Developers,
It would be very helpful, if you guys port a ROM having kernel Support for USB-OTG support in Our HTC Incredible s.
Awaiting for a long to directly access the Pen drive, PS3 Controller, Hard disk and So on..
PS: Referred in Qualcomm website and found our processor Snapdragon MSM8255 can support USB OTG.
Please refer below threads to have a idea on the same,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588940
http://sven.killig.de/android/N1/2.2/usb_host/
Thanks!
From what I have seen, then no.
Does the Incredible S even support OTG? AFAIK the phone needs to supply power through the USB port to work, not sure if this phone does.
is there a certain answer for this ? yes or no ? i got otg cable but it doesnt work so what gonna happen now. my rom is JB 4.1.2 cyanvivox currently. as you say it doesnt supply power since the light of the plugged mouse doesnt light up
If I am not mistaken OTG is related to kernel. Which means you need to flash a kernel with working OTG. You could try any Ice Cream Sandwich rom for example project x with redux 0.8 kernel. See if it works.

well I am not sure which kernel but I know 1 of the kernels they said they added support for OTG, maybe you should report in that thread. Check the kernel threads 1 of the devs said it was implemented in their kernel but needed test. So report to him

Did you use a cable with external power source? I don't think the phone can supply its own power.
Hi peeps!
So... moving away and not spam the other dev and general threads, I just wanted to open a new one where we can discuss about the differences between CM10 on old bootloader (cause the other roms are soooo 2011 ) and the new STOCK ICS great tuned roms on NEW BOOTLOADER
I was using DM v30b ICS for a long time and I was pretty satisfied! But after I saw the call bug fix on the official CM10, I didn't even think about it and replaced it
Not that the DMs version isnt fine, but I was remembering that the CM10 version on old bootloader was pretty awesome!
Im using the CM10 official and the only thing I would say against it is the battery life Everything else is awesome!
P.S. This thread is not for DEVs, cause I dont want to offend anyone with posts like "This ROM is much better than this".
Every dev here is FUK*n AWESOME and the jobs they do are amazing... Be honest... before our devs started to tune the phones, we would all be on some freakin apple ****s! (sorry for my language!).
Keep up that good job and ignore our post and threads, its just sharing opinions between consumers
PUT yOUR OPINIONS IN HERE RIGHT NOW !
That's right, Official CM10 is Awesome since LG release their source code. But I will be honest, I tried the first Stock ICS v30a and I was not happy with it because of the speed...even if we have 2 cores. Then I return to cm10...but since we have official source code, the devs start making custom kernel which are really AWESOME, seriously. So, I'm now on cm10 (old bt) with Pidocchio kernel (old bt) for about 5-6 weeks...and it rocks. :good:

CM10 for new bootloader by pengus77
Flashed it yeastarday and the battery life is amazing.
I think cm 10 is pretty awesome, the only thing holding it back for me using it is the battery drain
And LG's official ICS was ***t if u need something thats stable ( i know it doesn't really belong here ) i think u need to back to GB like temasek's builds, but that's my meaning
pengus77 is doing a very nice job. and like marsgod took his fix to gerrit to be reviewed by cm team and they included into official repository, i think pengus77 job should too. in that way, no need to continue with the new bootloader cause is a waste of space and a mess for everybody to move there with nvflash. id we can continue using our gb bootloader and partition layout, that one we used during about 1 year, why not continue if it is working alright? my vote for cm10 official with those all changes commited into cm repository.
I'm using original locked and unrooted 30B in Italy even it is made for ESA region.
I think that this rom is near to be a definitive stable rom: very smooth and fast, no problems except for a battery drain still high (20 hours autonomy with 40% wifi); the camera could be better, too.
I'm very happy of it and I'm waiting for the same LG release for EU.
I never used overclocking or custom kernels even if I tested most of the custom roms available here on XDA. I must say that I never found a real advantage nor stability testing these roms, maybe now the time for them is near to be over.

I am still on Temasek's CM7 as I needed long battery and rock solid/stable operation... Waiting for our CM10 team to fix the battery drain (old boot loader) and I'll take the dive
I have a question about the call bug: when does it usually show up?
I have never experienced it, but at the same time none of my calls are ever longer than 5 minutes.
I'm still on a really early version of CM10, and I've never run into the call bug.
Only problem really is the WiFi drain. Has that been fixed? I haven't been keeping up with the latest nightlies.

The call bug was said to be caused by a race condition - meaning it creeps up unexpectedly depending on the activity done with the phone in that timeframe.
As for wifi drain, flash the kernel tonyp compiled (containing pengus77's fix), onto any CM10 nightly that came out after the V30a sources dropped (basically December onwards).
You really should get a nightly from December onwards - a lot of things, not just the call bug, were fixed or improved along the way. I'm on 01/03 and having an improved experience over the SU660-based sources.
CM10 by arcee is very stable for me with self-compiled kernel of 24mb ramhack and patches from wkpark(including the lg twin boot logo fix). Very smooth and no BSODs and call bug. Just waiting for cm10.1 to be released by arcee.

Just to clarify, I flash the ROM first and then flash the kernel afterwards? Do I need to re-flash the kernel every time I flash a new nightly?

Yes and yes (since a new nightly will overwrite whatever kernel you have).

And just one last question:
So the callbug is fixed on the newest nightlies, but the WiFi fix has not been submitted/merged yet? So if I want the WiFi fix I still have to flash the kernel tonyp compiled, which I'm assuming is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36032539&postcount=661 ?
just like that bro

So the O2X developers have done unbelieveable stuff with this phone but I can't understand why we still don't have working HDMI in JB ROMs? Is this a kernel problem or ROM problem and can only RC fix it?

But how come HDMI work on ICS ROMs when JB and ICS ROMs essentially use the same base?
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda app-developers app
...fighting with myself not to respond "lol dunno"
But since HDMI "works" in CM10 (90 degree headtilt plz), it's a matter of fixing the rotation of mirroring.
Easy as pie *sarcasrm overload*
If pengus77 says that he's "trying", then the problem must be muy complex. Us, mere mortals, would suffer from brain explosion if we were to try and figure it ourselves...........................

Hi
Of course Kowalski Manager can't be opened, since you don't run the Kowalski Kernel on your phone (as the program "printed"). This kernel is not the Kowalski Kernel. You'd have to install KK to make Kowalski Manager to work.

Hi lucize! It's possible that this kernel+cm11 bring a working HDMI?. Thanks!
Didn't had a micro hdmi cable to test, the modem problem seems to be introduced in the 3.0.8 by the latest changes so maybe this would not be a problem after some reverts

If you pulled in my changes, then yes, I'm guilty. I think I've now fixed this problem again, just get my last change to drivers/usb/host/ehci-omap.c and it should work again.
About hdmi: It's not so simple
The moto HDMI-stuff needs to be migrated into the OMAP HDMI-driver to get it working without (missing) proprietary userspace parts (parts of the hardware-composer which call libhdmi).
I think I'll take a look at your kernel-changes on the weekend.
Regards,
Michael
in my opinion it would be the best to focus on HDMI.
Im waiting for a custom rom with HDMI. stock rom is slow but HDMI is working and I use it really often for watching TV shows with CineX serien and the lapdock would be usable.
Please focus on HDMI

I'll update it some moments, right now I'm testing a merge of stargo and dtrail1 work, it has multiple options (overclocking and underclocking) and is very stable, but I have a crash in dmesg (not afecting performance or stability, only visual discomfort) that is not happening on razr (spyder).

what's the correct way to install these? tried flashing both in SS 3.11 and got black screen; return to menu.
ended up copying the kernel.zip files into the signed CM11 nightly .zip and flashing, which appears to have worked... except I'm not seeing the lower 100mhz clock speed or higher (above 307) GPU setting when I enter trickster mod.
recos?
lastly, what's the difference between kernel.zip and kernel_jbx.zip?
thanks!

jbx is the over/under clocked kernel, you have to install it in ss, I only tested them on cm11 and I have ss 3.65, maybe I'll try to see why is not flashing correctly under ss 3.11
the kernel.zip is the clean 3.0.31 but is not 100% 3.0.31.
I'll update it with some new changes, hdmi disabled everywhere because I see that I got very good battery without it.
Regards
I'm happy to say that latest kernel has great standby and so far I had no crash on nothing and also updated the jbx kernel

i would be glad to know if you have made any achievements on hdmi?
or is it impossible to get it working?
I believe that with the older version of lucize's kernel (newest dont because it seems to be disabled by default) + this hack http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2082827 meaby get some buggy thing working...but I don't be sure... stargos tested time ago and work but it had wrong resolution...but , again, it will be a bugged thing...

first time I what it to be stable and after that we will work on hdmi too, so far so good, I have excellent standby and no crashes
there are hdmi things that can be ported from 3.4, I saw panel init and stuff like that missing from this kernel so I think it should be doable
and a picture with current battery status, I must say that this is the first time I see something like this, and in the middle of the week.
