[Q] HTC One with Straight Talk Stuck on Edge - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I've been having some data issues with my HTC One and straight talk.
I seem to always be stuck on the Edge network. My sister is using Net10 and when our phones are both in the same location, her mobile type says HSDPA while I'm still on Edge.
My APN settings are as follows:
APN: wap.tracfone
Port: 8080
MMSC: http://mms.tracfone.com

What variant of the one do you have? T-mobile US, ATT, or international? I ask because unless you have the tmobile variant, you will only get edge speeds because the other variants do not support the 1700mhz frequency

Damn, really? That's unfortunate ...
I have the China Unicom version.
Thanks.

[Q] ATT Vivid on Tmobile... 3g? 4g?

I plan on getting a Tmobile sim card and tossing it in my Vivid, getting the $30 a month plan and using it till I get a different phone.
Any chance I can use 3g or 4g on it? I've heard mixed answers about it being possible as recently Tmobile "flipped their network" or something like that. Just curious if it as ALL possible to get 3g or 4g data on mah vivid. Thanks

In case you still need help, here is what I suggest:
For the unlock, use unlockusa.com to get your code. They're the fastest and most reliable on the market.
For the internet, use the following settings for your APN (Credits: http://htcsource.com/2012/08/how-to-sim-unlock-the-htc-vivid-and-add-t-mobiles-access-point/) :

[Q] i9305 and LTE help on Virgin (Canada)

Hey guys,
I switched over to Virgin yesterday on the "Gold" plan for 60$/month. (I don't see the word "LTE" anywhere on my account.. is that an issue?)
Brought in my own phone the i9305.
I live in Ottawa, however I can not get LTE for the life of me. Even traveled well around the city today, and no LTE just HSPA.
SIM card is red with white LTE lettering on it.
APN settings:
APN: pda.bell.ca
Proxy: web.wireless.bell.ca
Port: 80
Username: <Not set>
Password: <Not set>
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: httpeditedsoicanpost.mms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy: web.wireless.bell.ca
MMS port: 80
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC : 302
MNC : 610
APN type : <Not set>
(tried Virgin's mobile settings, however I can't send MMS with Virgin APN settings)
phone is obviously unlocked.
The only thing I can think of is that the 2600 Mhz lte band hasn't been deployed yet in Ottawa, so my phone can't pick it up, until that switch is made over. Thoughts? I AM living in the coverage area where the 150 mbps service is being offered.
We can't help you in this forum...you need to post in the i9305 q&a
Thread moved to proper forum.

Weird issue but it's a small chance that is a modem / CSC related. If you have root access, than reboot into recovery and use this https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qnj68mzs8h3rhk6/qZESHfTord. It'll change your CSC to BMC, is a Canadian Bell HD VOICE should be enabled as well
If this doesn't help, try to change modem...
Thanks for the reply. I reprovisioned the account, changed a new LTE sim, and flashed the HD voice options (you took care of that for me in your thread, thanks)
Still no LTE.
Will try some modems tonight.
A question no one can answer (virgin tech support, or their techs ) does the bell (virgin) lte frequency support this phone, on lte .
Thanks guys.

Tried a bunch of modems, and no LTE.
Grr..... Tech support knows nothing. They can't even say does bell/virgin currently have the 2600 lte frequency activated?
Just an update on this:
Heres what I figured out after A LOT of research!
Rogers/Fido LTE band is on 2600 mhz plus another band. LTE works stock on the i9305, in Ottawa, Toronto, and wherever there is coverage.
Bell/Virgin LTE band is 1700 and they are rolling out on a new frequency 2600. LTE works on this band (2600) with the i9305. I have to be with Virgin so that it works at the cottage. So if you are with Bell/Virgin LTE will work in Toronto(verified), (maybe Montreal). and not in Ottawa because they havn't rolled out that frequency yet.
I was in Montreal in Feb/March and LTE didn't work with Virgin at the time.

[Q] Straight Talk (AT&T) on T-Mobile Moto X (XT1053)

Does anyone here have experience using a T-Mobile / Dev GSM Moto X on Straight Talk's AT&T network? I've cut down my micro-sim to nano-sim. Had to fiddle around with it for a bit but I've finally got signal - just no data at the moment . Here are the APN settings I am currently using (with no luck)

weird, those are the apn settings i'm using. how old is your sim? they switched over to these settings on the sims starting a few months ago. if you have one from earlier in the year you have to use the older ones...... is all i can think of.

aha! thanks for suggesting that! my sim is about a year old, so after reading your suggestion I looked up an older APN setting and all is good now
I understand the newer sims allow us to use LTE - is it worth making the switch?

depends i guess. it's nice to have and maybe a little faster than hspa+ on straight talk, but it's not going to change your life or anything haha. that said, i believe the sims are still on sale for $6.99 and the transfer was easy and seamless for me on their website. for $6.99, "why not" is what i said.

T-Mobile Moto X on Net10 (ATT SIM) w/ LTE?

Does anyone have a T-Mobile Moto X running on Net10 (ATT network) and getting LTE working?
If so, what APN settings are you using?
I purchased a nano ATT Net10 SIM from a reseller who cut it down to size, and it came with instructions which make me believe it might be an old SIM because the enclosed directions said to use:
Name: NET10
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracphone.com
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80
-----------------and additional info on various websites also suggest:
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Auth Type: PAP
APN Type: default,supl,mms
If I delete the main proxy listed above and leave it blank, I can connect with 4G (HSPA+) but don't see LTE coverage areas. If I don't delete the proxy, I get nothing.
The settings for a new ATT SIM are very different, and didn't seem to work at all. Is it possible to even get LTE with the old SIM? I'm new to this SIM game. If I have to get a new SIM, can my existing 30 days be transferred to a different card?
Also, for the first couple hours it all acted very wacky. It would work, and then all of a sudden put up the icons saying the phone didn't have a SIM card at all. I'd pop out/in the card and reboot, and it would come back. Lost it this way 3 or 4 times, but it hasn't happened in a number of hours now. Would this suggest the cut-down nano SIM wasn't the best trimming job?

Is the LTE symbol lighting up? Mine came from Quality One Wireless in FL for $0.99 (http://www.net10wirelessphones.com/Net10-sim-card-byop-kit.html). Don't know if it's the same seller as you had on ebay. Did yours come with a red activation card showing the settings you used, or ones more like the ones I listed? I found more information about settings which made me try the one I have at: http://www.prepaidphonenews.com/2012/09/how-to-setup-straight-talk-data-and-mms.html

The tfdata APN don't work on my moto x .
But the mvno APN works but h+ no LTE any help?

I'm on NET10, and I run the stock APN settings given by the NET10 app on the Playstore, I was too lazy to reinput some of my old crazier APNs.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tracfone.net10.datasettings&hl=en
I get LTE, and everything functions accordingly.
Don't worry about the sim card, I cut mine by hand, it takes a few bits to set up the radio and all the fit bits within. After the first day, everything is fine.

The tfdata (the APN that's also provided through the NET10 app in the Play store) APN is the correct one for getting LTE. I had the same problem, as I was unable to get data on tfdata and only getting HSPA+ on the wap.tracfone APN. I called the BYOP support line (1-855-333-CELL) and they verified I had the tfdata APN settings correct, then "updated my line." Boom, LTE.

I'll give that a try soon. Got a new nano SIM I stamped out of a micro directly from NET10 and not a reseller. Need to port my existing Verizon number out via Google Voice and sell an existing Verizon Unlimited Data plan via an AoL before picking up NET10 again. Found HSPA+ pretty good during my trial run, so it should be even better with LTE. During my test I think the old SIM I was using created the problem as nothing using tfdata worked at all.

I'm really pleased with the HSPA coverage, so much that I would've left it as is if I could've gotten MMS to work. It's nice having that fallback, especially indoors or out in the boonies.
I bought my SIM from Wal-Mart. Strange, I would've expected SIM cards from official channels would work better than the reseller ones.

Request: Get VS980 with 24A to work on T-Mobile

I am trying to figure out the right combination of files to flash in order to get the vs980 to work on tmobile, pref with android 4.4.2 since both phones are now updated to that version of android if you can provide any instructions of help that would be really awesome. If you have your phone running on tmob would you mind also answering the few questions below?
are you using a Verizon or Tmobile: Rom, Modem, Recovery, Kernel? I want to experiment but dont want to hose my phone and want to know specifically what part is the key in getting this to work on tmob

I have the verizon lg g2 on stock 4.4.2 rom, the 24A update with a t-mobile sim inserted. The first thing the phone will do is automatically switch to global mode. You'll have to go into networking settings>mobile networks and add the t-mobile lte apn settings, fast.t-mobile.com:

on your network type, is it now showing T-Mobile? under mobile networks>network type and strength, you can do an automatic network search and then choose t-mobile when it appears. also, check and see if your area has 4g/lte support, the verizon lg g2 only has the 2100 lte band in common with t-mobile and not the 1700 band.

It says t-mobile in the lock screen but under network type and strength it just says 3g-75dBm. Also, in this screen I can't select anything or go to any menu. I'm in Oakland, CA so I assumed I have lte. I read an article saying my city is refarmed 1900 to HSPA+. I guess that's supposed to be 4g and not lte?
How'd you get that ? mark icon in the notification to go away?
Thanks.

as far as I know, the 1700/2100 bands are the lte's, it looks like your area is H+ at best running the 1900 band. I could be wrong, but double check with T-mobile to make sure.
here's the info from t-mobile, http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-4988
which ? mark do you mean?
bringing a dead thread back to life because I'm happy. I live in Tipp City, Ohio, by no means a big city like LA and I am getting everything. LTE, H+, 3G, call and text. Paranoid Android 4.4.4 beta 5. Works like a charm.
Hey guys so I am on tmobile on the vs980 and I would like to flash a custom Rom but I had to downgrade the phone with LG flash tools to get data to work on the phone. I am fairly knowledgeable when it comes to flashing roms and such but when I use the autorec app and flash twrp and then flash a Rom like say cm11 or color is 4.2.2 it will eaithier bootloop or show the LG symbol and then go to a black screen any help would be great thanks
