Hello,
I have a unlocked Galaxy S 3 Mini which I bought in the UK, after flashing TWRP I noticed that I couldn't boot into recovery with the key combination at boot. Only by selecting "Recovery" from the reboot menu of certain roms or by using adb, but both require that the phone is functional. I'm mainly worried about if the phone happens to be non-functional and I'm unable to get to a useable state.
Is there any other way to boot into recovery or a fix for this problem?

Make sure to charge phone to 100% before doing. After you flashed, you can then flash your favorite rom and still retain the 3 button combo.

Install the S3 Mini toolkit then install from the toolkit the 3 button combo.. It should flash something with Odin3.

Hello everyone, I'm having a hard time to root my SGS i9000B with froyo using the one click apk. after downloading and moving update.zip to my root sd (internal sd). When I reboot pressing vol up + home + power, after releasing when it shows in white: samsung gt i9000, if I keep pressing the screen blanks and go back to the white sgs logo, it doesn't go to the menu to apply the update, it simple boots the phone normally. What am I doing wrong?

My phone is the same - Your network provider's branding has blocked the usual 3 button recovery method to get into the recovery mode.
There are some ways to fix this using odin, or you could use the command line using adb - both would need some reading up before you try anything.
All right, where can I find this info? You think is better with odin out the command line is better? Your phone is the brazilian one with tv? Have you done it? Thanks for the attention.

I tried rooting my N7000 with Odin 3.04 and hardcore-speedmod-ics-recovery-n7000.tar
It went through fine but now my phone won't boot. It's stuck on the model number screen and now has a yellow exclamation mark in a triangle.
I can get into the ClockWorkMod recovery menus but not into download mode (using volume down and plugging in micro USB).
I assume that when I get it back into download mode I can install the stock ROM or a custom ROM, and then it should work?
Found this similar thread but I don't understand how they resolved it

Any help would be appreciated, as I need to make some phone calls soon

If You can get into CWM just flash some ROM (*.zip file). Remember to wipe data
Download mode is volume down +home +power.

Thanks guys.
For the benefit of future users:
So the default download mode is volume down and plugging into micro USB. With certain custom ROMs, it's Volume Down, Home and Power at the same time.
My problem was fixed by factory reset, loading the PhilZ kernel, then the stock ROM and the PhilZ kernel again to re-root, and then a Nandroid restore. I think the kernel I tried first was either incompatible or a bit dodgy.
Now to get CM!

Download mode on any ROM is volume down+power+home.
The Method of plugging in is just balderdash and won't do anything, please don't confuse people.

It's a Samsung feature and not rom related.

The problem is back.
Since last time, I flashed the stock Samsung rom and the PhilZ kernel. The phone was working fine but got noticeably slower over the course of a week. Then it got stuck on a phone call and had to be powered off. The phone goes into CWM menus and can backup/restore fine but I've tried restoring and it's stuck on the "Samsung Note GT-N7000" boot screen. It powers off after this screen.
I had noticed that the gallery app had stopped working and some system text had randomly changed to garbage text
I've tried re-loading the ROM and that hasn't done it. I also tried a system + boot recovery. Before doing these, the phone would go to the splash animation but get stuck on that.
Any help appreciated.
Boot back into philz recovery and format system, data, cache, preload from mounts and storage menu. This will clear traces of old ROM. Then boot to download from advanced menu and flash ROM using odin
Hi All,
My LG optimus p970 cannot able to go in recovery mode. I tried couple of options like key combination and also tried to boot into recovery from ROM manager application available on google play. Because of this i cannot able to load any custom ROM into my phone.
Please can anybody help me on this. I have all files regarding JB to install properly.
Regards,
Akshay
Which rom do you have installed on your phone?
Stock roms don't have any recovery out the box (both gingerbread and ICS). Plus, on stock ICS, using the key combo will wipe data imediatelly without asking.
First, you need to flash a patched v20 with cwm recovery.

Turn your device off. Take battery out. Put it back in, leave phone turned off. Hold (I think it was Vol UP) plug USB cable in and wait. Dont press anything else. Check my noob how to under unbrick.

Ok, so, after flashing the recovery to my gear while it is in download mode I held down the power key and got it to the menu with download, recovery, and continue. and i selected recovery and it should show the TWRP logo, right? it doesnt. it just turns off. and if i hold down the power key it just reboots normally into the stock gear android interface. am i doing something wrong???
It seems like your doing everything right but some where your missing something AU

I've always found the power button methods a bit hit and miss. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 goes of what seems like doing the same thing before it works.
The easiest and fastest way to get into recovery for me is to connect to the pc and type
adb reboot recovery

Is there a reason you created 2 identical threads in the same forum?

Hi guys.
Yesterday i got my new nexus one and tried to start updating it to ICS.
I applied blackrose hboot and installed the hboot_220-16-200.nb0 file. After that i reboot the phone and went back to the boot loader. The problem is that i can't select any option, i see them, can move and select one but can't enter any mode.
The phone still boots up to the os without any problem. Any way i can fix this and access fast boot mode or similar?
Thanks
Are you using power key or trackpad to select options in bootloader?
