This wasn't happening when I first got the phone but now it is happening all the time when I receive photos through messages. Downloading other sms apps doesn't work either. Please help if you can. What's the point of having such a big beautiful screen if I can't use it all.very frustrating

Hey guys,
Had it for a day. I was able to text yesterday but not at all today. Texting with voice works.

Really? 51 views and not one suggestion? I'm thinking it's a glitch, I've checked every messaging setting. I don't think it's network related.

So it seems like whenever I send pictures from the front facing camera or pictures from the internet they send fine but for some reason (excuse my lack of tech savvy lingo here) when I send "high quality" pictures or maybe larger pictures I guess? taken with the camera they never go through. I'll upload some for example

Bump. Anyone know why I'm having trouble sending these pictures? I'm using stock messaging app

This sounds like an extremely obvious problem with an extremely obvious solution but the thing is my Nexus 4 handled it like a champ. What gives?
As always thanks in advance and love you all!

Each device will work very differently. You can not compare it to the n4. Having that many messages restored is never advised.
Bat cave One
obviously it would lag with 17000 messages on HTC Sense Messaging app
Nexus 4 Stock Messaging app is quite light, that's why it handles them smoothly; IMO :silly:
why not deleting some messages
try any other messaging app from PlayStore, like 8sms
I use chomp on the Nexus 4 and now on this as well. It is strange that chomp will lag with the One and Not the Nexus 4 which is technically inferior.

Its not if your running a non sense rom. The nexus was made to run AOSP roms as to where the one was not. Also your transfering them from one device to another. This can cause issues due to diff in the system.
I see so I have no other choice but to delete my texts?

You could try other apps to see how they fair but in the end yes I think your gonna end up deleting some of the texts. To be honest none of the sms apps are really made to handle a messaging data base that size. I have noticed after about 500 they start lagging.
Thanks man I'm going to delete them all now.

Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to amass 17,000(!) texts?
3 years haha!

Just in the last 2 hours or so I can't receive MMS images at all. On WIFI, on LTE, on 3G, nothing. Data otherwise is working fine,.
I have actually had mms and text issue since getting the phone. Also had it on my old HTC one that had a sense 6 Rom. Very slow to load and always get sending errors. Hopefully fixed soon cause I use sms and mms a lot. If anyone has any info to fix please sure. Right now I am pure stock.

First thing this morning have one that still won't download. This seems to be a big problem. But as I said before I had this with my other one (m7) so I am thinking software issue maybe

The other day i stumbled upon an htc app that would send a test sms msg somewhere on my m8, but i cant seem to find it again.Anyone used this before and could remind me where it is? tried using search and google to no avail.. thanks!
may I ask what the purpose of the app is?
sent from HTC M8 using tapatalk
It sends a test sms msg to your device to ensure everything is working properly. For example , say you were using a third party sms app , like handcent or something, you could see that it was configured correctly, without having to wait for someone to send you a text.... i used it once , and its kind of handy, I thought it was in the htc guide>support>troubleshooting, .. but its not.
The sprint zone app has it. You could also just sent yourself a sms to test it

Well, the Sprint app sends u a text message to test date in the diagnostic section . . .

Oh ok. Didn't know that, never used it. Just saw it there
