Just installed a fresh CM7, stock kernel and then an OC kernel. I gotta say, CM7 felt noticeably slower than rooted 1.2. Quadrant showed 500+ points improvement on CM7, but that's obviously theoretical. Fruit ninja stuttered like crazy on CM7 no matter what kernel/setting I used. And browser performance didn't seem as slick.
I don't know, maybe it's just my nook, but I'm back to rooted 1.2....for now.
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache.
Mine is definitely speedier.

Tried that, but no luck. Not a big deal. I used to run CM7 a month or two back and it was pretty good. I thought I'd give it a shot again since deep sleep is supposed to be working now. I still think my 1.2 battery life is better now.
Did you install CM7 to eMMC?
Yeah. Never liked how SD worked.
I would be surprised if games are not faster in my kernel than they are in stock 1.2.
There are several optimization in my kernel that is beneficial to 3D.

That's the thing. I tried all sorts of speeds with your kernel and nothing was as smooth (at least in fruit ninja) as your kernel in 1.2. Fruit ninja was hugely stuttering. At first I thought maybe i had it OC'd too high as I've read too high can cause that, but then I lowered it to different speeds with no luck. Tried both nook tweaks app and the Cyanogenmod settings. The only thing I didn't try was using SetCPU.
All's OK though, it's just an observation/personal experience. I'm one of the few it seems that actually likes rooted stock (OC'd, of course). Both, when optimized, run pretty similar, aside from my last try with CM7.
Edit: I should note that in previous CM7 installations and the OC kernel I was able to get much higher Fruit Ninja scores. I thought it was either A) because frame rates were higher or B) frame rates were slightly lower. Never really looked into it.

I've seen quite a few people do the same lately, trying CM7 and settling on rooted stock, though citing aesthetics rather than performance. I can't speak for rooted/OCed 1.2, but CM7 definitely runs faster and smoother, on eMMC or SD, than 1.2 unrooted did. Of course, I can't compare app performance, since I didn't have any apps on 1.2
Hi!
My MM is on CM7 RC10. I've tried a lot of gameloft games, gun bros and others like Age of Winds and only could play to Asphalt5 and Raging Thunder.
Any of you could play heavy or HD games on his MM?

Maybe I give a try to cronosginger, but right now, I don't have many time to change my rom only for play the games . Anyone knows a walkaround to play something on CM7?
that rom is not only for gaming, its very stable n the quickest ive used .. n the best part is its battery life ..
HEY! you know! I'm having that problem since I've changed to custom firmware, in the beggining I used stock eclair and ALL heavy games run without problems, then I changed to custom firmware (now on CM7 RC10) and I have problems and crashes on most Gameloft games, BUT all the emulators work excelently, this is little weird, so can a DEV answer that?? pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease
Oh! I forgot! each CM7 versions were compatible with other games, for example, Spliter Cell Conviction ran on CM7 RC5, but did not work on next versions, nor even on RC4, just on RC5... I insist: weird!

Excuse me roohanjs, I didn't want to said that cronosginger was only to play or CM7 is better than cronosginger. What I was trying to say is I'm fine with CM7, and now don't have time to backup, download other ROM, read about it, install, tweak, load again all apps, etc. etc.
Maybe the weekend I could try cronosginger, but meanwhile I hope someone could give me a tip on CM7.

Hi Hearts king101.
I forgot to mention about SuperCharger. I've try it, and tested diferents scripts but the games always crash after intro video or after a few seconds of playing.
I use CM7 RC10, set the vm heapsize to 42 and I am able to play Modern Combat 1&2, the Settlers HD and the normal market games like Angry Birds without stuttering. I havn't even aplied the V6 supercharger mod. Oh, and I overclocked to 1,1Ghz
Just make sure you don't have to much useless stuff running in the background. You can prevent apps from running on boot in the latest versions of CM7

How do you prevent apps from running on boot with CM7? I look inside all settings menus but couldn't find anything.
My MM it's overclocked at 1GHz and vm heapsize is 40MB. I try with JIT enabled and disabled and any of both settings make a difference playing heavy games.
In the CM7 settings menu there is an entry for application management (I have the dutch language enabled, so I don't knoow what the exact english translation is), and you should enable this. Once enabled you can change the app settings in the app management menu in the normal settings menu. Just click on a app and scroll down to the bottom and there you can enable and disable settings. This only works for the apps you installed yourself. Pre installed apps can't be altered.
And I have JIT enabled, thrown the standart ADW launcher away and installed GO Launcher EX wich is in my opinion much faster.

I've been noticing lately since flashing gingervolt 2.0 that i get lag quite a bit when playing games even simple ones like angry birds or world of goo as well as just when im scrolling between homescreens or opening or using apps. When I had gingervolt 1.3 with the supercharger script running my phone ran even faster then stock. Like it should. Especially after using setcpu to overclock it to 1.5ghz. Anyone else experience this or have a solution

I have the blitzkreig script running cause it comes with GingerVolt 2.0 and so I wasn't sure if they will run together and I don't know how to remove just the blitzkreig script without removing GV 2.0 all together

Just run 1.5 ghz, it fixes aloot for me.
I am currently running at 1.5ghz actually, cause it seems to be the best balance between Speed and Battery-Life.
If anyone can tell me how to remove the blitzkrieg script itself without having to remove GV 2.0, that would be great. Also, if someone could let me kno if the SuperCharger script will play nice with the Blitzkrieg script, so that way i can just run em both, that would be cool too.

If you want to get rid of the blitz kernel just look in the dev section for the stock kernel. I can't comment on the supercharger because I refuse to use it.

I just don't get why angry birds and world of goo are laging on me. My droid 2 global played em just fine. I think that there just has to be too much taking up my system resources and making my phone run slow cause those games should run smooth on my phone. Especially if I set the CPU @ 1.9ghz (I normally run it @ 1.5ghz) whatever it is its annoying the hell outta me and I want to get to the bottom of it so I can get back to enjoying games on my phone.

I'm running 1.3 with supercharger script (I believe?) because I have been monitoring the 2.0 thread, and some things stood out for me as potential red flags. Saying that, I purchased "Bejeweled" and it plays brilliantly for about 20 minutes before it turns into the ultimate lag fest. It actually makes my phone look like it's locked up, and the phone produces heat at higher levels than normal.
Most of my racing games hiccup in strange places as well, making them near unplayable (which means I have never tested them up to the 20 minute mark).
Something is definitely off, and I wouldn't be afraid to blame this on the device itself. Heat and response times of this CPU seem to be hit or miss, but so far, on anything semi-strenuous, it appears to be mostly miss.
Anyone else have a different experience? If so, what are you running?
Well when I was playing games on this phone when it was just stock rooted it ran fine and when I has GV 1.3 flashed it ran fine. But ever since flashing GV 2.0 with the blitkrieg kernel it has started lagging out randomly. Its not constant but its more so then it should be. Like I said. When I had GV 1.3 installed. It played games perfectly smooth and when I was jst stock rooted and stock un-rooted it ran perfectly smooth as well. And like I said I'm my last post. I think part of it is I just have s lot of widgets and apps running so they are taking a lot of my system resources up and not leaving much memory for running games and what not. Therefore causing it to lag off and on

Assassins Creed

Baseball Superstars

I guess it could be something I have running in the background then since all of those other roms work fine with it.
Edit: It looks like you are all running ICS roms, im not.
You could overclock or just change the way your processor is being used like setting to lagfree or something like that
Decraptivated Samsung
Got the exact setup Legend 3.7 on rfs runs fine. might be an app killing your ram.
I have 66 of 329MB free RAM. What are you guys at?

Nope they work like they always did on Samsung roms. You can choose whether or not you want the on screen ics buttons or not, but the regular buttons ALWAYS work fine . You should upgrade to ICS, I can even play temple run without any lag (always lagged on Samsung TouchWiz roms to a certain point). Try Cyanogenmod 9 or AOKP.
It works just fine over here on miui gb with glitch kernel overclocked to 1.3 ghz, and also had no issues on previous gb roms. As a previous poster advised you so will I, if ur facing lag be sure to clear ram before running the game and ultimately overclock if lag persist, also try out different kernels (talon, dark core, xcal's).

Sry to hear, btw the latest corn it's at vs 7.06 so be sure to try that, look for it in the development section. Also in cwm recovery corn should have a tweak option setting, and within tweaks u can overclock, or just grab voltage control app from the market to make the necessary changes.
edit:
To be sure I just checked how much ram the game uses while running ,holy crap, it needs 100 mb
So I'm pretty sure that ur facing lag due to lack of ram (stop running and also cached procceses in the task manager to free up ram).

The rom has nothing to do with the amount of ram, it's all kernel. U are probably on talon's bigmem kernel.
Slim ICS 3.2, very smooth, not lag.
On ICS, i don't need to care how much free RAM which I have.
I have a Motorola Milestone running 2.3.7 MIUI, I have lots of internal memory and big size SD card. The problem I have is running aloty of games on the Milestone is very difficult, For example, I would start a game the game would load, half way through loading, the screen goes black and turns to the home screen. I have tried Chainfire 3D and this works about 60-70% of the time. So my question is, does anybody have any ideas on how I can run games smoothly and makes them load, I guess. Thanks in advance!
that behavior is consistent with the milestone's lack of ram memory (it has only 256mb) i had one and the last game that runs ok is modern combat 2. and that with long loading time and a very variable framerate...

Start to flash CM7 it's like night and day with MIUI. Then... you should wait the official release of CM7 using 2nd boot option to boot on an other kernel. It will use a sort of swap that will allocate more RAM to your device and you may play a little better.
But the Milestone is surely not a phone to play on!

Partitioning accordingly will let you spare internal memory, that's fine but nothing more. Miui is cute but very very very memory hungry. CM is better for games. Actually the older is the release, the better games run, since there's more free ram. You should really wait a few hours/days for a good 2ndBoot with swap enabled CM7 build.

That's not even a beta. I usually use nightly builds and beta, but I won't tell others to use it. To many issues at the moment, really (need to deep sleep after boot, battery use). By the way, Kab github is pretty on the frenzy way at the moment, so... be patient IMHO
