The essential gapps are already in like the Chrome, Contact & Calender Sync and the Google Play Store
So no need to download

Good initiative, I never understand why gapps weren't in the different aosp rom.

Because it isn't legal!
See the old entry from 2009 from a Google manager in this blog explaining that the Google apps aren't released as Open Source.
That resulted in removing the Google apps package from CyanogenMod since then (after a cease-and-desist letter from Google sent to the CyanogenMod team around Steve Kondik in 2009).
So I think the makers of this Rom published in XDA should follow the normal procedure and remove the Gapps. Not sure if XDA could get into problems because of sharing a ROM that includes the Gapps.

Got PM from XDA just now... Must re-cook all roms there goes my free weekend please give me some time and bare with me...

Think positive: you only got the letter from XDA and not the special one from Google...

That's true

I didn't know that so we could provide gapps in a separate zip and flash it but not directly in the rom. That's weird but if it's the way Google want it

And as a result it's only a minor obstacle.
If Google would say "no go" for using Gapps the free Android implementations would lack important functionality.
So installing Gapps as a separate zip after the Rom isn't really time consuming.

For sure

Great work welcome

due to a PM from the XDA Staff yesterday I updated the ROM without Google Apps because it can lead to legal actions hope you guys understand...
You can find the Lightweight Google Apps in the Download section on the Codename Lungo Website....
Also I think the GPS bug is fixed. Let me know

The best recommendations is to use the latest recommended version from the same development team as your ROM. FroM your post I see you are using a team EOS ROM, so I would go the the original post for that rom and follow the links. In the the case of EOS, the latest Verizon is 10.4.
Thanks! I am using the last Gapps from EOS Team and every checking for new updates.

I'm struggling with this as well because my rom has the gapps bundled in a way that titanium can't find the apk to uninstall, the apps aren't connected properly to the market, and I can't update. It's really frustrating. A general purpose gapps zip would be really nice

not much discussion on this rom, but it was updated on Feb 5th. are people using it? how do you like it?
im gonna flash this to my wife's phone, been using rootbox on it, but the battery drains like crazy
It is a linero build that has been severely stripped and only useful as a phone basically in the lite version. The other version has been stripped as well but not to the extreme. Barely useful for more than just phone. If you want barebones linero and add only what you want then it wouldn't be a bad choice. As far as updates well I haven't heard too much ever said about this rom on either his web page Facebook page or even on XDA so be sure to do nandroid and make a list of wanted and needed apps and do a ti or romtoolbox backup of desired apps so you can restore apps when install is done with this rom

Also.. A Codename Lungo Build for that one

[ROM] Unofficial AOKP: 4.2.2 (JDQ39)

This was built from AOKP source using vendor trees from TheMuppets found here:
https://github.com/TheMuppets
and device trees from TEAMBAKED - BIG thanks to them:
https://github.com/TeamBAKED
Thanks to BigRushDog for the hard work and the permission for me to use CDMATools. And also thanks for just being a cool person.
Here is AOKP website:
http://aokp.co/index.php/news
-Feel free to donate a few dollars if you have it to show your appreciation.
Here is the gerrit review:
http://gerrit.sudoservers.com/#/q/statuspen,n,z
My git: https://github.com/qnhoang81
This ROM is now using a CM kernel at moment and the source is here:
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_kernel_samsung_crespo
My goal is to go over to AOSP kernel once I have a little more time to work on it.
What works:
Everything as far as I can tell
What's broken?
Hmm...not too sure. You tell me.
Directions:
1) Download
2) Make a backup
3) Wipe cache/dalvik - factory reset for those coming from a different ROM
4) Flash ROM
5) Flash GApps
6) Reboot
7) Enjoy
Download:
http://goo.im/devs/qnhoang81/crespo
GAPPS:
http://tinyw.in/wV7n
This is the official package from goo.im that I edited so that it does not override AOKP camera **NOTEhotosphere is not available for now, so if you want it so badly that you would rather not have all of the other options, then just use the official Gapps from goo.im**
I will post a changelog when I upload a build. Not every nightly will have a changelog, but I will post them as much as possible.
Note: Please report errors and things not working. However, please test the problem without any modifications to the build first.
Also, if there is something you would like to see or you think is cool to have, I would love to test it and include it in the ROM. So by all means, request away, and I will try my best to add it. But please...no asking for ETAs
DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN THIS DEVICE...By flashing this you take full responsibility for anything that may happen to the device, and I will not be held responsible if your phone steals your car and upgrade itself to a GALAXY NEXUS 4.
Have fun, and please post any problems found.
Downloading, will report back soon
Thanks for your efforts

Difference between Cm, aokp, aosp, pac Roms?

Hii all,
I am confused between cm, aokp, aosp and pac type rom.
Developers make the rom but they dont explain the advantage/disadvantage of these type of rom.
Can someone explain me what are these, there differences and advantages of each rom?
Thanks Gaurenteed..

well cm means(cyanogen mod) they are devs share their sources and its good one.
aokp means(android open kang project) and also they are devs share their sources and sure its diffrent from cm.
aosp(android open source project) that type google it self make it and share their sources and its the clear android version without any changes just the original view that nexus devices have.
and pac means (paranoid +aopk + cm) that means this kind of roms have the whole those thing above together in one rom and its pretty awsome
and for me i used cm10.1 by biel and use scripts (this make the rom more smooth and more active ) so i used the script by slaid480 and it called(fly on mod) and everyghing work good for me
thats it
hope you understand

I have only used CM(7.2) till now...
But here is what i know/read and can sum up:
•AOSP-Best ones (performance wise). They are most stable since they are official. They are released only after extreme alpha and beta phases... but not as customizable as others.
•AOKP: They are modded versions of AOSP. Customizable. But I have read somewhere that they drain a lot of battery.
•CM: More fast. More Stable. They are the ones that give you unofficial releases of ICS, JB, etc.
•PAC: Its a hybrid. Cant guarantee battery life. But can be awesome if you put it to use in right way.
However, if you are new to flashing, I'd recommend CM 7.2 (further ones are not as stable as 7.2)... Rest can be used after you get hold of things.
But its up to you to decide.
Best Of Luck....
Plz hit thanks if you think this was helpful.

In simple words,
1) CM offers customisation and control but not as handy as aokp.
2) AOSP roms are the ones that offer no customisation at all unlike cm, aokp etc. They just give you the pure Android experience like your stock rom.
3) Paranoid Android is famously known for bringing tablet like ui on phones with customisation & controls much similar to cm.
4) PAC rom is an integration of all, i.e., aokp, cm and paranoid android.

List of Roms and respective maintainer

Hello dear P880 users,
The list linked in this post, is a list of all compiled roms for our LG Optimus 4X - AKA P880 and their respective maintainers.
This list only has roms which were compiled (original development).
----
The document has the following information:
Branch (4.3, 4.4, etc..)
Rom Name
Development Status
Release Version
Last Updated
Maintainer username
Base
And the URL to the XDA post.
-----
The suggestion of compiling such list came from laufersteppenwolf, so buckets of flowers and chocolate boxes should go to him
Suggestions and whatever are welcome. Enjoy

Hi there,
Thx to @MidnightDevil, this thread is a good idea.
As am not involved as a dev, only reader and user (noob and try to learn) of the provided roms, i just have a question concerning PAC-Man, Carbon and Illusion ROMs:
Fluoxetine dissapeared of XDA and all his threads are actually closed, is he still maintaining those ROMs, or MULTIROM for Kitkat?
Well, his threads now state he is no longer able to maintain the roms.
Latest Omni update is 03/08. Also, you could add FlymeOS to wishlist, that really is a great rom.

It is closed source, but Tony granted me access to his sources. However, I had no time yet to work on it, as I have my final exams coming up, and I have too less spare time for tetsing...

oh yeeesss the jelly bean roms where so good on the 2x, i would love to see the penguins attack the 4x
The most confusing thing I find is blobs and patches, for things like video recording, screen recording, MHL etc. How about a column to say what blobs and patches are used, and whether EPRJ RIL is implemented?

@MidnightDevil,
Just find out that our device is "officially" maintained by the PAC Man team, updates can now be found in the download tab from:
http://www.pac-rom.com/#Home
I've checked on team carbon website (https://carbon-rom.com/) but unfortunately our device is not supported.
I also noticed that u can update beanstalk as the last built is was issued the 8th of March in 3 versions:
- CM based ROM
- P880-dev (grouper blobs)
- P880-dev (old blobs)
Hope that will help U to update your file
I'll update it during today.
Cheers
