[Q] battery and CPU-Z - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey folks,
i have got a question related to my new razr i.
i have added a screenshot as attachement.
i like the long runtime on the device but i wonder that CPU-Z is in the list of apps which consumes a lot of battery.
there is no CPU-Z service or similar running in the background.
does anyone know if CPZ-Z is optimizing the cpu governor?

Curious About Your CPU % !?

I was curious after Flipz said that some rogue system app was using up the processor, so I searched the app market for something to see my CPU usage in "real time". I DLed System Monitor. Under CPU Usage it says stays around 12-14% while not doing anything. My guess is that the app is generating some of that usage. Would anyone else mind giving me some of their data with System Monitor?
What should my "idle" usage be? What is yours with System Monitor?
Thank you for your help in this.

[Q] Low antutu scores

Hi everyone. I had a first batch z1 before. Antutu consistently 35k on stock rom. Lost it and I bought my 2nd z1 yesterday. Came with .532. Antutu was 32k. Updated to newest 4.3. Antutu still 32k. I know benchmarks aren't everything. I only need to know if it has any defective hardware or anything to worry about? Device doesn't feel as snappy as my older one even though very few apps installed. Thanks for any advice.
When my device's in .532, my score was around 30k. I think your score is better than it should be. Try to upgrade your firmware to .209, and see if there's any difference(s).
When I saw this thread, I installed Antutu and tested my device, I got 34k.
EDIT: I'm on android 4.2 (14.1.G.2.257)

Just tested on .257: first score was 28k. Then 34k
On 209, it's back to 32-33k.
This phone can play any game on max settings. What purpose does the benchmark score serve if you know this for sure? Bitcoin mining or something?

just did it on original 4.3 and got 34269 on antutu
when i first started benchmark it was about 29K i think its because i was running cpu intensive apps and bittorrent in the background. After closing all apps and multiple reboots i got around 35k consistently, then after normal use i got around 34-35k i also found that Force GPU rendering increases score at high 34k and average 35k and that Force 4x MSAA decreases it significantly to about 32k-33k. To be honest I think it depends on how many apps are running in the background, if you have lots of apps especially social apps running in background then expect lower scores. I would recommend reboot of phone then do test while phone is settled. Also task managers have a history of slowing down phones GET RID OF THOSE! Android is perfectly capable of handling processes all by itself, make sure that "Don't keep Activities" is uncheck and "Background process limit" is set to "Standard limit", those options can be found in the Developer options in the list.

Thankyou for the input. I use benchmarks to see whether becuase i like my device to run smoothly and minimum load at max speed. I only worry i get a defective hardware due to low scores. Thankyou for the tips again.

Battery draining relatively faster after rooting?

Does anyone have any reason as to why this may be happening? I just recently rooted it to install greenify and the xposed modules. I have only installed greenify and listed a few apps but it seems battery consumption has gone up and I haven't installed any other apps. I am trying to narrow down what it can possibly be by using the wakelock detector but any input would be largely appreciated brothers.
i to used greenify, but since i stopped on the note 3 because i noticed it being a hit or miss.. you might be greenifying apps that need to be ran by the system hence it keep reloading up after being closed into a continuous loop
Thread moved to Q&A where it should have been posted originally - please post in the correct sections, thanks.

Samsung Keyboard App causing up to 32% CPU usage

Hi everyone,
My Tmobile Note 4 lags and freezes quite a bit. I've done many things to include a hard reset, but the lag is back. It can get bad sometimes. So I decided to install Trepn Profiler and the CPU usage for the Samsung Keyboard app varies from 10-30% when the keyboard isn't being used. I tried Greenify, but it won't force close the Samsung Keyboard app. Why is this program using the CPU this much when it's not being used? By the way, the Samsung Keyboard app is always at the top of the list on CPU usage.
In either case, what are your thoughts and how to fix this? What's the best way of tracking down apps that cause this beast to slow down and lag? I have too many apps loaded to uninstall them and track down the culprit or culprits one by one.
Thanks,
GP

Gear VR -Let's team up and support ourselves for VR performance

Im starting this thread for discussions around how to get the most out of using a Note 4 and Samsung Gear VR..
I, like many, decided not to jump on new phone models that Samsung tried to limit their Gear VR to, in order for marketing purposes. They realized removing removable battery and SD card slot, IR , was a bad marketing decision far after many screamed / yelled about the idea and also purposely dropped Note 4 support.
Let's come up with ideas for improving performance, extend the time before over heating and software conflicts. :good:
Discussions about most effective Kernel , overclock/under clock settings, app conflicts, improve performance / reduce over heating, etc..
I'll start by saying I have noticed a major improvement in functionality and performance over the last 3-4 months since they finally improved and cleaned up the Android Oculus code some.
My current Specs/config;
TEKXodus N4 URv7 Elite Edition Rom Android 5.1.1, Emotion r23- on T-mobile -Samsung Galaxy Note 4 ( SM-N910T3 )
Overclocking w/ profiles using Kernel Auditor , extra heat sink mod attempt using Heatsink compound, Aluminum foil and minimal tape. (will post this w/ pics if requested)
New 2015 Gear VR modded to work on Note 4
Things I have done and have gotten performance improvement/time before overheating.
I first started out adding a fan on the Gear VR cover, and still had over heating issues and it was noisy. I then moved to using Freezer Gel packs. This turned out to be a simpler more effective solution for me.
Things I do by default;
I use [All-IN-ONE Toolbox] to un-select all unnecessary app (I INSTALLED) that by default are set to AutoStart. I check this periodically since majority of apps feel their apps should do this.
I use [OS Monitor] to take a look "under the cover" and see all demanding services running in background. (Sort by CPU usage, and then by Ram usage) If there is something I installed in that catagory, I either uninstall it, take it out of AutoStart or long click on item and lower the priority.
I also use [SD Booster] to increase the read / write cache (1024) for storage. (Using 64Gb class 10 Micro SD)
Turn on do not disturb in Oculus mode
I have also used Kernel Auditor to change the model in Build prop Editor (ro.product.model) to a Note 5 (SM-N920T), so in Oculus Store I am not limited to what software I can get because I am using a Note 4.
Apps I am considering removing and breaking habit of using because of resources it's consuming;
Go Launcher , Go SMS (always running in background)
I know many will argue that AnTuTu is not a good benchmark, well if you know something better / please post.
{I run this test, as if I prepped for using the Oculus, close all running apps & clean cache for example}
Attached are my [CURRENT] AnTuTu v6.0.1 scores;
Left before overclock 53416 , right Overclocked 65150 using Kernel Auditor [Emotion Performance] Profile settings..
Please post yours if better...
Actually, I just now tried the Emotion Battery profile and used V-Time for 25minutes with no fan or Gel packs
I have heard that its best to under clock the CPU (to lessen the overheat issue) and over clock the GPU - Seems like it would be good to have a Samsung Gear settings Kernel Auditor profile. One that underclocks CPU, overclock GPU, raises temperature threshold, change model, etc.. .. Any volunteers ?
We could then assign [TASKER] or something to run profile when Oculus is launched and turn back to power saver mode when not connected.
