[Q] Revert to original ROM? - LG Optimus Black

I bought this phone second hand and upgraded it to ICS before I got a chance to check that it worked. It doesn't read any SIM cards so I need to send it back however I'd prefer to send it with the gingerbread or Froyo (I honestly don't remember which it had) ROM on it.
How do I go about that?

Use smartflashtool and flash a GB firmware

It does not matter if you installed an official ics, because if you upgrade your phone with lg software you'll get ics anyway. You only need to install a official os if the phone is rooted.
A factory reset should suffice to send a clean phone if an official os is installed.

2.why go to froyo when gingerbread is available?

Kies Mini will still require two separate updates to reach GB (at least when I tried from stock). Eclair to Froyo, then Froyo to Gingerbread. No direct path.
Can you confirm if GB will also remain unlocked?
I believe you have to do froyo before Gb with kies. Remember Kies is stupid with things like that lol
Lol got beated to it.
I've been from eclair, to froyo, to gingerbread, to ics, back to gingerbread. Still unlocked.
Kies shouldn't mess with it. But let's be honest, it's easy to unlock with root

Selling my Note. Which ROM ?

I'm selling my Note today, which ROM does everyone recommended to flash before I sell it? It needs to be a full ROM so the guy can update. Thanks.

A Stock rom from this section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
the latest stock rom
1.Keep as it is (why to take chance to brick)
2.As per choice of buyer
3.Flash with wipe a older ROM, so buyer get choice to update/Root it easily.
Yeah I think I'll just flash a stock ROM with root and call it a day. Thanks a ton guys, you Note guys are a friendly bunch.

Why are you selling? You won't find a better phone anyway!

I bought the Nexus. I prefer stock and an easier to handle size. Also the Rogers Note is coming out soon and my contract is almost up My girlfriend is gonna be a happy iPhone 4s user on valentines day though. I couldn't convert her so I had to trade it.

If she didnt convert then shes not a keeper bro... just sayin..

I knew there would be a reference to an Iphone in here somewhere...lol.
Note to a Nexus... I hope you get on with it. As for which rom - flash an early Samsung rom is your best bet, from the region you got it from.
Feel free to check out "our" forum as often as you want - you'll be most welcome. We're a friendly bunch as we have been around the block so many times, in search of the best phone available
What to do if I want to unroot and flash rom?
In dr.ketan's stock ROM post, he wrote...
"If you are not rooted n dont want Root
just flash with PC odin, (same as Older ROM Installation shown above)"
What if I am rooted, but don't want root anymore?
Can I still just flash with PC odin? Would it mess up because the Note was rooted?

yes you can flash stock rom with Odin on rooted note, without issue. It will make your next rom unrooted too.

[Q] Proper stock rom and Kies

Hi all. I would need your help to understand how to fix the following issue:
My girlfriend downloaded and installed a gingerbread version 2.3.4 (build xxjvp) using odin more than one year ago.
Since then Kies does not recognize the device anymore.
The phone has been bought in Italy but it starts with Hungarian language as a default (it also has Italian and English for sure).
We would like to know what is the most updated stock rom available for that phone and we would like to download the appropriate one (so that Kies recognise the phone).
Possibly the link to the firmware would help as well.
You might be able to find what you need here.

Why does Kies keep saying that ge does not recognise the siftware?

Look up ICS333 flashing guide. There is a GB flash kit with all the files you need. Backup with titanium backup, flash the stock from the ICS333 installation instruction thing and restore with titanium. Why not upgrade to ICS? I recommend ICS333. Best ICS rom ever!
Does everything work on ics and i9000s?

My idea was to bring the phone back to its original state. Does anybidy know why there is a problem with kies?

Yeah. ICS works exactly like it should. It also depends on the rom. Eg. On CM9 formatting the external SD doesn't work. On ICS333 everything works.

Flash the stock rom on the ICS333 installation instructions page. That will being the phone to its original stage. Why do you want to use kies? I don't use it. Not many people do. Custom ROMs brake kies. You have to be on stock to use kies. Why not Google sync or something.
It's not working because Kies sucks just flash whatever firmware you like in Odin with the link I provided you. Easy just follow instructions in link. Flashing your phone with Odin is the quickest and easiest way to get it back to original stock setup.

I am, it says theres an update ready for it but then it says its at its latest firmware
You can't download and flash 2.3.4 on it? I seem to recall a link with all the released roms somewhere.
Of course, you still need to be able to upgrade from that.

Hi,
I had the same issue, but soon realized, that I had already put on a baseband that was much more recent than original 2.3.4 release by LG.
Just had to flash a previous baseband, and then it could pick up the latest 2.3.4 after that.
Hope that helps. It worked just fine for me. I now have 0725 baseband after the lg upgrade, before that I had the recent march 2012 baseband.!
best luck
milind
