My friend just gave me his Unbranded Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 to fix it.
I used the 3 button combo to access download mode then Odin it but when it boots to download mode it checks the internal mmc and returns an error exiting to stock recovery and I can't adb there no install from sdcard stuff. Need help with accessing download mode!
Error description:
E:failed to mount /dbdata (invalid Argument)
-- Verifying internal MMC block...
E:internal mmc : read fail
# MANUAL MODE #
Anyone can figure this out for me please?
Thank you.

Thank you brother, thanks so very much.
I just have another question, now how do I get back to stock ROM? Can you direct me to a guide that tells how to do it via heimdall?
I'm using Ubuntu 13.10 and don't want to run Odin from wine.
Thanks again.

I flashed Repair kit for M110S through heimdall suite. The Download mode has changed to korean language and now whatever combination I press it goes to download mode even by simply pressing the power button it goes to download mode.
Can you help me with that?
Should I try again on Windows OS with Odin?

First I hope you had ensured that it was actually an M110S and not another variation of i9000
yes, Korean phones always have everything in Korean, but once having a boot-able ROM, you can use settings menu to change to English. which repair kit did you use? , as long as its in download mode you should be able to flash again, either with Odin3 or heimdall. also what stage of flashing did you complete .
just flash again but make sure you have ample battery charge, as power failure or pulling out usb connection can break the bootloader and you will have a big headache , hard bricking it and only a technician with JTAG can recover it.

I used the link from this under the 'first stage heading'. This is the repair kit.
Yes, I can only access download mode now it doesn't go anywhere else. I completed all four stages but as you have shown in the picture it didn't go to that update screen.

Ok, when you complete first stage does your phone boot up using the Eclair ROM? I normal circumstances it should? you say you completed all four stages, , was the flashing completed as successful in ODin3 and your phone rebooted into download mode?
If so try and check your USB port on your phone if you have any lint or anything that may be shorting them and did this phone got in contact with water?
cause what you say is rather strange for any unit as a successful flash can endup in some sort of boot process and never into download mode.

Firstly I flashed all the files through heimdall in ubuntu not Odin3.
And at no stage it returned any error. At the first stage the download mode was in english on the phone, it had a yellow triangle and below it was saying "downloading" after I flashed the korean .pit file the phone rebooted back into download mode but the text below the yellow triangle was now in korean. After every flash the phone returned into download mode.
I checked as you said, the problem is before I knew the "Home + Power" button combo to access the download mode the phone booted to Samsung screen and hung there and now it goes no where except the korean download mode.
Deleted!
Okay I've figured out the problem with my phone.
When I was on the first stage when I entered the m110.pit file along with the PDA file. The PDA file had a movinand.mst file, while flashing with odin3 it got stuck on the movinand.mst part and remained stuck forever so I plugged out and restarted in download mode.
I did some googling and found out that this problem is related to internal memory damage or corruption or something like that.
Anyway I finally found out a GB file on some forum I don't remember and flashed it over my galaxy S and it kind of worked. When the phone is powered on it goes to the 'samsung anycall' screen and stays there for a while and at the bottom of the screen comes a progress bar, when it goes full the bootanimation comes up and the phone boots into the ROM. Now the problem is there is no internal memory so no apps are downloaded plus whenever I restart the phone it comes to that samsung anycall screen with the progress bar and then the bootanimation but the phone starts as if it were new, like the initial setup accounts and all and also reverted back to korean language. Is there anyway to fix the internal memory problem or any alternative?
Thanks once again for helping me out this much.
Can you tell me what actually is written under your battery ? as what you are indicating about this units behavior is rather strange and have not come across this on an M110S, and mind you I have help a lot of people to solve their problems on M110S units and tens of thousands had downloaded the repair kit from my upload site. Why I am asking is because I am in doubt as to what is your model? is it an M110S, or i9000 variation or a chinese clone?
this must be cleared , in order to get your phone functioning as remedies for it will vary
Hey. Now I tried flashing with odin3 and here's what happened:
1. After the first stage it should boot into eclair but instead samsung anycall screen comes up and then it goes into recovery with the following output:
E: can't mount /dev/block/st111 (invalid Argument)
# MANUAL MODE #
E: can't mount /dev/block/st111 (invalid Argument)
E: can't mount /dev/block/st111 (invalid Argument)
ok this means you have a cache partition problem , meaning stl11 is the cache partition that is not mounting as such you cannot boot, so lets try this ( remove external SD card, sim card etc and Flash the cache.rfs as below..flash it twice and let me know the result.
Problem:- Getting this when you boot
E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/stl11
Solution:- Flash a cache.rfs file meant for your model as PDA with Odin. For i9000 i9000 cache.rfs file, For M110S M110s Cache.rfs
or Flash a Rescue Kit from My Android Collections

2. I proceeded to the next two stages and flashed the files but still the same.
well, when you get a problem like above, there is no way it can boot until it is resolved, but its has booted into recovery, that is what it should do, not go into download mode.
3. When I press the power button only it goes to the samsung anycall screen and then same happens what i described in 1.
Suggest you flash the cache.rfs for M110S, see if it solves it, If not repeat stage 1 again using the repair kit with the PIT and repartition TICKED using Odin3 see what happens.

The scam artists who have converted M110S to i9000 use I9000GSMH and will not indicate the FCC or SSN
yours says its an i9000T and there is such a model, look http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S/GT-I9000T
so best to check your IMEI number , follow this link to identify your model
anyway so long as your phone works its not a serious problem, but wrong ROMs can give you differing problems so ensure your unit is M110S before using solutions in PIT STOP

ok, the ROM you had flashed is obsolete, you nee to flash WF07 ( download link in PIT STOP) but before you do that, go into settings>storage and erase SD card, and Format where possible also you must follow the instruction given in flashing guide ( First post concerning repair kit) to the dot, meaning you need to factory reset (settings >privacy) as well as wipe everything and format everything prior to flashing WF07 and also wipe again after flashing.
Only after this you should look at other problems ( Internal SD card)
Its also best to USE the repair kit again and after flashing Ist stage , flash the WF07 ROM ( its the best ROM for the M110S)

Just flash another firmware with Odin.Download a stock firmware, click re partition in odin, load all 3 files and pit and flash it.
You see sometimes after flashing with odin in some cases you might have to do a factory reset to boot the phone, since you cant go in recovery you will need to flash a complete stock firmware. This will probably work.

K. Just came back from bell corporate store. Said I can't do anything without a receipt so until I get a hold of my friend that I bought this off of, I will try what you guys have suggested.
By the way, the gentleman (who seemed very knowledgable) tried flashing my phone on the spot behind the counter and now the phone boots with a black screen and the bottom keys glow when pressed.
When entering recovery mode <3e> and try to format internal sd-card, i get the following:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
(No such file or directory)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount SDCARD:
I will now try what you guys have suggested and keep you updated.
tried kewjoe's suggestion but no luck. Any other suggestions?
Time for a replacement - looks like you've got the ever-so-popular internal SD card death.
If you take it into a Bell store they'll send it out and you should get a new one sent back to you in the mail. Bonus if you have any scratches on the phone or anything.

I've had that problem, shouldn't be too hard to fix.
Flash the Rom JPC with a 512 pit, make sure re-partition is ticked.
Then you can go back the original rom you was on without a pit and without re-partition ticked.
Make sure you do all them steps
Hope this has helped!

I had this issue when flashing from JL2 to another
- some of your partitions got messed, first boot odin, put your phone into download mode and make sure odin see's it. Select JL2 in the PDA secion and click the phone boot loader update
- after it's flashed, find the speedmod from hardcore on xda and flash that, also in the pda part, make sure everything else is default so it's best to close odin and reopen it
- after you have the speed mod on you should be able to get back into recovery.
- almost there, flash the stock 2.1 on your phone this has some data that no other rom has, once you flash that you can flash JL2 over top once again and you should be good to go
- msg me if you have issues
is this issue still on ongoing?
try this (if you haven't tried it before):
1. Launch Odin
2. Put the necessary stock firmware + PIT file that goes with it
3. tick re-partition (not sure what partition you are currently in so that's why I'm suggesting repartition)
4. Go into DL mode and plug the phone in via USB
5. Flash it
6. Once done, go flash hardcore's latest speedmod kernel via Odin again
7. Go to cwm recovery (hardcore's speedmod will give you this)
8. wipe partition cache+factory reset + clear dalvik cache
9. reboot system (will take a several minutes to boot out of the Galaxy S screen)
10. Hopefully your problem is solved.
11. If my method worked for you, PM me. I'll ask you to give that $20 to a local charity of my choice. Street kids needs some love too in the new year

You don't need the jig if you can get into download mode with the 3button method. What you need to do is get into download mode and reflash with a full firmware that contains 3 file with repartition checked and a 512.pit. Any updates after this just use firmware with one file and no repartition.

And it sounds like the same problem like I have so I asumd that he have the same problem like me.
Just a heads up, the i9000b can have issues with certain firmware. If you know what original firmware was on there restore to that, it needs to have a pda, modem and csc file to fix your error though.

Dear Super brick user
First I would like to Thank HG 42 for his Support on super Brick
1. I followed the Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=3597010
and http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=3597010
I downloaded 4pda_kernal.tar This helps in getting CWM
I downloaded Pits.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=3597010
in download mode I connected my mobile to my laptop and with ODIN 1.85V I selected c:\Downloads\pit\Q1_20110914_16GB-patched.pit as my PIT file
and for PDA file I selected \N7000XXLPY_N7000OXALPY_N7000XXLPT_HOME.tar.md5
which I downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
then press Start button.
Miracle went (I did not even format after partition) I hope it is included in the PIT file. HG42 has to clarify it
Then it went to reboot and was stuck at Samsung logo
I even got on message saying Samsung Encryption fail error and asked to reboot
when I pressed OK it rebooted and was Stuck at Glowing Samsung.
I once again reboot with pressing Power button.
this time it went through all the setting and it is done.
Now I have lost only 8GB with the process
I hope down the time there will be a guide to even remove the bad sectors or blocks.
If it fails in this PIT file try with other PIT files that HG 42 has provided.
Thats It.
Great
Once again I thank HG42 for all his hard work and support.
+1 now on ics lpy rooted via speedmod kernel & s3 mods touchwiz 5. Loving it so far...though i do get the occasional hiccup and phone freezes requiring battery removal.

I'm guessing super brick is some sort of corrupted file system, which will not allow the phone to boot, or allow you to flash anything to it. All the while still having access to download mode - a teaser so to speak.
Hardbrick is eMMC damage = paperweight.

Dear Super brick user
First I would like to Thank HG 42 for his Support on super Brick
1. I followed the Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=3597010
and http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=3597010
I downloaded 4pda_kernal.tar This helps in getting CWM
I downloaded Pits.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=3597010
in download mode I connected my mobile to my laptop and with ODIN 1.85V I selected c:\Downloads\pit\Q1_20110914_16GB-patched.pit as my PIT file
and for PDA file I selected \N7000XXLPY_N7000OXALPY_N7000XXLPT_HOME.tar.md5
which I downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
then press Start button.
Miracle went (I did not even format after partition) I hope it is included in the PIT file. HG42 has to clarify it
Then it went to reboot and was stuck at Samsung logo
I even got on message saying Samsung Encryption fail error and asked to reboot
when I pressed OK it rebooted and was Stuck at Glowing Samsung.
I once again reboot with pressing Power button.
this time it went through all the setting and it is done.
Now I have lost only 8GB with the process
I hope down the time there will be a guide to even remove the bad sectors or blocks.
If it fails in this PIT file try with other PIT files that HG 42 has provided.
Thats It.
Great
Once again I thank HG42 for all his hard work and support.

Even though i had lost 5Gb in the process! A week ago i was able to revive my Note to it's full potencial!
But losing 5Gb in 11.2Gb that you can use it's a lot to me because about a week ago i had my SGS2 and i used it to make calls.. and i was using my Note just as a multimedia player and internet browser mostly and no calls or sms because it was SIMless!
Anyway what i agreed with my GF is that i would take my Note to samsung to see if they could replace the motherboard for free since i have warranty for my phone and yes.. in a week i'll have my Phone back with a new motherboard completly for free!
My advice:
If you have warranty, get rid of the binary counter with the jig following this tutorial:
[REF] How to remove yellow triangle on any firmware with JIG
And flash a stock kernel from:
[KERNEL] Stock Kernel for N7000
I've done this and it was accepted as having warranty on Samsung Services

Did you super brick your note after doing a full wipe?
I think the same thing has happened to me .. i can flash rom and all but no matter how many roms i try flashing i am stuck at the samsung logo!
You lost 8 gb.. does it mean you have only 3GB left??
can I ask....how are you able to determine how much space/storage you lost? Just curious.....
After re-boot, I checked in Setting> Storage
it shows now as Internal Memory 2GB, USB Storage as 8.24GB and SD Card as 25.89 GB (I dont know how even I have lost another 4 GB in SD Card also). Even After formating SD Card it formats only to 25.89 GB instead of 32 GB or 29.4 GB.
How to do this when the phone doe not boot at all, not even download mode.
You can't unfortunately.
I try to understand if this is the solution to this:

It looks like you have a case of super-brick with some faulty partition.
If you can get help from SS service you should go there. Otherwise, The re-partition guide below can help, although you will loose some storage space. Use custom PIT file method or manual.

Hope it helps,
Thanks! about to take it from the store where they told me they cannot fix it, and try for myself!

If ypu have warranty like me your lucky! I already brought my Note at service center they change my Motherboard without payment because of warranty. Just dont say you used ODIN it will void your warranty. I have 2 counts binaries in Note when i brought it to Service Center.

It is easy to find out, as the codes in the firmware/baseband code are regarding the regions. You can browse in www which is the proper regional code for your country.
Odin 1.83 is compatible, run is as administrator. The ROMs are out of 3 parts. Try to flash one of them as described (choosing proper files for PDA, CSC, Modem plus Pit 512 file) when all ready, run download mode , connect USB cable and start flashing as soon as Odin recognizes your phone. Don't leave it long in download mode waiting as the i9000 seems to have some kind of standby/sleep after 30sec or bit longer.
Remember what Odin displays in the leftmost fields during the flashing and post here (quote my text please / reply) if something goes wrong. Otherwise that proceeding should revive your phone.

sorry about the delayed response. Actually it looks like your problem is identical to this thread so can you tell me did you use CM updater or did this problem crop up because you down grade from one CM version to another?
In any case lets try and fix the boot loader , flash the JVU bootloader , phone bootloader update ticked with the PIT file (repartition ticked) and see if it boots .
or at least you should be able to get into recovery mode with combo keys after this. IF it did not boot you can flash the JVU ROM again
I doubt this is due to corrupt internal SD card, but maybe its the final option to try in-order to get your phone booting

Today i got same problem, phone with Cyanogenmod in bootloop, on charger same bootloop. Solved with flashing stock ROM with Odin.
Maybe stupid question, but noone asked it, is your battery charged? Because in bootloop it does not charge the battery. And for flashing you need more then minimum. If you have multimeter measure voltage on battery, if it is 3,7V and less, flasshing will not be done, you need about 3,9V.

Did you update in SDK manager sources for your Android version? Check my thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2444308
You will find on the bottom of the OP attached screenshot with red mark where you have to check and download updates.
ADB drivers for Android versions 4.0+ could be not pre-installed and you have to do it manually. So for CM10.x ROMs you shouldn't use ADB (SDK manager) versions older than 1.0.31.

ok, can you try flashing them all at one go, as mentioned below ( remove SIM CARD as well as EXT SD Card)
1) Select PIT > 512 PIT (If 'Re-Partition' is not checked under 'Option', check it)
2) Select Bootloader > i9000_xwjvu.tar ( do not tick update phone boot loader)
3. Select PDA > CODE_I9000XXJVU_CL851880_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.m d5
4. Select PHONE > MODEM_I9000XXJVU_REV_00_CL1092175.tar.md5
5. Select CSC > GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar.md5
EDIT: IF still not booting, flash the CWM semaphore kernel, see if get into CWM recovery
as for using external SD card 8GB or 16 GB will be better, you need a 2GB primary partition (acts as phone memory) and the rest of it as a second partition. (acts as internal SD card)

Hi guys, newbie here trying not to brick my s3 mini any more than it is.
It all started with the lack of mobile signal, so i changed the sim card-didn't work
After a hard reset it got worse, as i got a black popup on my screen :
PDA: I8190XXAMG4
Phone : XXXX
CSC : NONE
H/W : Not Active
EF Cal Date : NONE
SMD : 01N, PBA : 04N
CAMERA : N/A, FrontCam : N/A
TSP : 0X11
TSK : 0x19
Band : GPRS, CH : N/A
UART : N/A, USB : N/A
Also, the phone will not go in recovery mode anymore, only on download mode.
I tried flashing a stock firmware with Odin, but no change. The thing is, after the phone restarts, it loses any settings i made (like wireless password, google account, etc), so if i check USB in debugging mode, after restart it will be unchecked again, so for that reason i'm not sure if the reflashing worked.
In download mode it says:
custom binary download: no
current binary:Samsung official
system status: official
At the bottom of the page: HW REV: 0x5
As far as I understand after reading the forum for about 8 hours, i've lost the partitioning of the device.
If any of you has any idea what i could do, please advise.

refer to the threads on loading stock ROM using ODIN
those will provide you with the information to repair the phone in it's current state
you will then be able to fix the partition
Ok. So I tried numerous times to upload the stock software but absolutely nothing happens, even if ODIN says that the upload was successful. As soon as the phone restarts, it loses any settings i had done, including USB debugging mode, so maybe this is why it doesn't work. I tried selecting a CSC, but after restart it's still:''none''.
The thing is that wireless is working, so i can connect to internet, but i cannot download and install anything (no space). I will try and download an emulator via PC and put it on a memory card.
Of course, it won't read my memory card :|

i had similar problems a few months ago. So what did i do:
download the " i8190_buttonenable_cwm6.0.2.7.tar " from HERE (see attached files) and flash it via Odin (as admin)
download This rom "I8190 серв. укр.rar" from the same side and follow the instructions.
you will get a branded lafleur rom (russian), set it to your language at setup.
put any rom as zip you like on your device.
reboot into recovery with vol. up + home + power
fullwipe and flash any rom (as zip) you want.

I did load the pit file and enabled the re-partition. It just doesn't change anything.
This last week it was taken back to the place i bought it from (pawn shop ), and of course, they all say (the experts they took it to) that i did something to it, and it can't be fixed, and of course it's my fault. All i did was to reset it.
Anyway, I'm still hoping to get it fixed myself, with your help, guys.
Thanks.
