Hey everyone ,curently in my system i have MIUI 3.8.2 . It was ok all the time , but now my sdcard is heating alot , to the point where i feel very painfull heat on my fingers . What can be problem of it , Tried reflashing different version still heating problem occurs . Another thing i saw that last two pins are sticking together when sdcard is in the slot , When i grab her out they are not sticking . I never did replace this card she is in the slot for almost a year , so how i can repair / solve this problem ?
Did you try the SD card which heats up in another device? If so did it heat up or not?
Maybe the pins in the devices slot are little bit off so they contact where they don't have to?

HI,
My HD7 keeps resetting itself at random times and its driving me insane. I have tried different apps to see if its that and no joy, new case to stop the chance of overheating its happened about 20 times in the last 4 months. My question is would replacing the motherboard help and if so where would I learn how to do this? I have changed the screen already so I would be willing to take it apart.
Thanks
It's absolutely a possibility that it could be due to a faulty hardware issue. The problem is that there are many reasons that can cause the device to randomly reboot.
Anything from -
Software - apps/XAP's, tweaks, registry changes, WiFi, OS version and radio version
Hardware - Faulty motherboard, SD card, worn parts and broken/damaged soldering joints.
Was the problem with the device rebooting present before or after you changed the screen? If the problem wasn't present until after you changed the screen then it's possible that there is a bad connection of some sort in the device.
Also what OS version is the device on and are you running a custom rom on it?
The actually disassembly shouldn't be much different from when you replaced the screen other than you have to separate the motherboard.
If you've exhausted all other possibilities and are pretty sure it's the motherboard and want to change it take a look a this thread and there is another external link in the thread too -

Here's a video that will give you an idea on the disassembly -

Ok thanks, so I had the phone from new, unlocked but using the 3 network. It started before I had even dropped the screen and put a custom rom in it, I was in a very hot country when it started so it might be slight heat damage. I have looked at the links and have now added them to my favourites. Although there is no direct link to a complete ribbon breakdown I am sure I can do it. Thank you for your help and once I have tried all aspects I will report back thanks.
Like me
I used the phone without the SIM card, no reboots or locks and reboots.
I'm using SIMs from a carriers using 850MHZ and 900MHZ all gave me reboots and locks, before the "solution" I used a 1900MHZ SIM with no problems (??? weird!!!)
Since the solution, I use my SIM without problem,
What I did:
1- Take the SD card and format it with sector check (long format) to see if there's a problem there, also give me manufacturer, capacity and class, if the card has it. Mine is a Sandisk 16GB Class 4
2- Raise a little the antenna connectors (2 copper fins near the sd card), BEWARE!!! they are FRAGILE!! if you break them (like me), you'll have to get some copper fins and use soldering iron (like me).
Believe me, I'm using my HD7 with no problem since then...
any question, here I am...
I have the sam reset problem but in one way. Yust if i use a Data connection to go on web. After random time, my HD7 start to restart itself. No warming or something else (mean overheat) of a phone.
What it could be? I am desperated
P.S. Problem starts when i am bricked my phone and went to "service" to do a JTAG flashing of it.
At first time after JTAG my phone warming up at a bottom of a phone (where an sd card settled and antena) ans start to reboot after Data connection enabled. After my complain to service they opened them again and told me there are all clean inside and after that my HD7 not wrming up but stil random reset after Data connection on web (HSPA+).
Any advice please or to throw my HD7 in garbage .
thx

Good evening.

This must be the first time I have come to ask for help on a forum . I still love me cope by myself and find one solution , but now the situation is serious !
*
Voila, my SGS- I9000 is on, I can be on the phone but it goes off randomly! Sometimes in the middle of a YouTube video, or the Store, this problem sometimes occurs after ignition 10s or 10min. It's totally random . Smaller, when the phone receives a small clash between the slot for the SIM and that for the SDCard , it also turns off . ( And just at that point . ) But that's not too serious.
When the phone is off and I turn back , he comes back in 5-8 seconds (I find it fast . ) And surprise, if I had a download in progress , or write a message , it continues !
I tried Captivate Keep Alive but nothing works .
I re-re -re- re-re -re- flashed stock Rom base . And the phone is Roote .
I tried several batteries.
Save me . Please . I was given a Windows Phone in the meantime. You even imagine not . The total lack of customization that there's on this phone. I want to find my good old Android.
Thank you . From the heart.
(Sorry for my poor english, i'm french)

well, this is where you need to check (the SIM slot and SD slot) if contacts broken or shorting, you can buy one from ebay to change , most likely you have to dismantle back cover and do some cleaning inside of the phone and make sure all is normal . Look at My Directory (link below) for dismantling guides as well as technician manual to know how it should be fitted . Also USB slot, needs cleaning, look here
Basically a general check against internal shorts, would be the issue here.
Check this out! Links to useful Guides and " Banned " Documentaries
I also used to get random restarts but I found out my problem was I had my CPU frequency too low, below 200 mhz and it would random reboot.
Sounds to me like bit loose contact somewhere.
Are you sure whole the phone goes off, and not only the screen gets dark?
Starting yesterday, I've been getting a popup that says "sd card unexpectedly removed" on my incredible s (stock 4.0.4, sense 3.6) even though I haven't taken the card out. I've found that this is only when putting the back cover of the phone on, it works fine with the cover off. I've tried reformatting both on the phone and on a computer, and the card works fine copying data between my two computers and even another phone. Any idea as to whats going on? It doesn't make sense that it's a bad card because it works fine everywhere else.
maybe try reset to factory defaults your phone, in my case after reset it works fine

If you try your card plug to PC via cardreader? Maybe try copy all data from card to pc and format it?
I tried formatting on my pc multiple times and it still isn't working. Interestingly enough it worked for a day or two and just started up again

SD Card Errors
I have the same sd card problem on HTC incredible S for months. I remember seeing someone suggest lifting the two pins up a bit at the back of the phone. I tried all four pins that I can see that but still not successful. Before S-off and after S-off, also see the issue.Tried different ROMS, VivoKat, Revolution-HD, also not successful. Flashed my radio to the current version, also see the same issue.
If I do not closed the back cover of the phone, it did not removed the sd card, though the signal strength for the radio drops drastically.
What are the pins at the back of the phone meant for? When we put on the back cover, aren't we shorting (1) shorting the pins at the side of the rear camera, (2) shorting the pins at the bottom near the sd card. Or should they be shorted?
What is the function of the phone back cover? Ground Plane? Attenna and/or sd card on/off switch? Is there something we need to do to the back cover for the sd card to function properly? Or is it shorting the SD card that forces it to eject? Should we snip away the plastic metalized pins at the back and solder a short wire shorting the pins? Maybe one pin must touch the back cover while the other one should not?
At this moment, I still cannot differentiate whether it is a hardware/software/firmware issue. Any help is appreciated.
Right now using

Think I figure out but need other people to confirm the method.
1. The two pins at the bottom near the sd card is meant for antenna, putting the back cover on will increased the signal strength, so they must contact.
2. Put a piece of paper on top of the two pins next to the rear camera before putting the back cover on. This will block the pins and prevent them shorting with the back cover, thus preventing the sd card from being removed. Well, I still do not know the function of these top two pins. It may be meant for detecting shock when the phone hits against something.
It has been hours and still the sd card is functioning well. I think this will solve the mystery for many people.
Hope it helps.
My Bad. The method does not work. SD card issue again.
Probably irrelevant, but I had the above SD issues for a while – like you say *intermittently*, though I also had a few other software anomalies which is why I decided to flash a custom rom; I thought, what the hell?! Anyhow, swapping the card between a couple of phones prior the flash – it still did it, so I thought, cleary the card is stuffed – but after GoldCarding and getting #6 ‘I think it was’ running, it never [well, so far] did it again…Good luck with it, cheers Dyr

I'm not sure, but I suppose those pins are the WiFi antenna and the other pair it the GSM antenna. All of them sould have contact with the back cover. Poor antenna means higher transmit power and more battery drain.
I had this SD card issue once. I think i just wiped clean the contact points on the SD card and it never occoured to me again..
same sd card intermittently removed problem after factory reset
I couldn't find any solution for this problem.
my assumptions were defect on card slot but there is no any issue of hardware.
drastically signal strenght drop and Sd card defect problem stil exist. any suggestion do you have.
thanks foryour valuable suggestions.
Hello i have my old Xperia X8 laying around for a couple of months now and since i got my Xperia SP i did not give it the proper attention!!!
I love my X8 but it has some problems !!!!
1) It wont scan for wifi networks it says "Unable to scan for networks"
2) It wont read the inserted sd card.( on the statusbar it says "Removed SD card"
Although i flashed the original sw from SUS about 2 times the issues are still there.
So i came to the conclusion that the problems are related to hardware and specifically to the wifi module and the and card slot.
Having a small amount of experience with electronics i decided to disassemble the phone.
I inspected the wifi module , antenna and SD card slot as well to see if they had a visible issue.
Everything looked normal.
So i assembled the phone booted the thing up and i flashed from SUS the original firmware again.
As i am writing this the phone boots up.
Ill post the results later.
Also i could not find pcb replacement on ebay for the phone. Can anyone help me find one in case its a hw problem please.
Edit: Nothing changed im thinking of reflowing the pcb but im not sure about the zif connectors and the camera itself.
Opened the phone again checked everything no apparent damage.I haven o way to check deeper (measure and stuff i dont have a multimeter now nor an oscilloscope).
Hi
So I've never taken out my micro sd card since day 1 and over 2 years it has been fine, then I noticed a year later that my xperia z started to have mount/unmount issues with the sd card and couldn't read it.
Then I tried to open it on my pc, samething, unreadable.
So what could have caused this? I barely drop my phone at all, I always keep my phone in a dry place, no moist or hot areas. Because I'm scared to invest into another 50$ sd card and having the samething happen again. Has anyone experienced this before?
i dont know what might have caused that but another member said:The only thing I cared about were the pics so I tried 3 different adapters, still didn't work. I ended up cleaning the contacts with alcohol (TINY bit on a q-tip) and put the adapter in the reader, THEN the micro SD card. After about a dozen times inserting/removing it finally read the stupid card. I dont know if it will work for you but just in case:http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/storage/3481659/how-get-files-off-corrupt-sd-card/
