[BOOT ANIMATION] Wavy Android - Android Themes

So, I wasn't quite satisfied with my current ROM's boot animation. So I decided to make my own.
599 frames of 720p goodness!

720p (720x1280) for insane sharpness
599 frames for buttery smoothness
Tested on my HTC One X for rocky stability
Amazing looks to make you one lucky guy
PSD for easy modding
Excessive file size for a ridiculous waste of SD space.

Installation
Push the bootanimation.zip to /system/media/bootanimation.zip. /system has to be re-mounted RW before doing this via adb. Please don't forget to re-mount RO after you're done copying the file.
Alternatively, it's possible to move the file into place directly on the phone via Root Explorer/Root Browser/ES File manager/etc. This is likely to be a much less painful way.

Fantastic! Thanks

The animation looks great.
Can't flash it with TWRP though.

It's not supposed to. The zip needs to be pushed to /system/media/bootanimation.zip on the device.
Thank you for pointing out that flaw, I will replace the download with a flashable one once I'm back at the desk.
Sent from my fibre optic cables using a flashlight.

Updated the download, it is a recovery-flashable zip now. :good:

Thank you for your work.
I don't know what's going on cause my bootanimation doesn't change after I flashed your zip with TWRP.

Sorry about that, I have looked further into the issue, and it seems that it's not possible to create a flashable zip that works for all phones, due to the different methods used to mount the /system partition. Or at least there's no way that I am aware of :silly:
I have reverted the download back to the original file, the bootanimation.zip, for manual installation for now, while I'm trying to create another generic flashable zip. If it's any consolation, I can offer a zip that's confirmed working via CWM on a HTC One X...

THANK YOU so much for all you effort! It worked flawless on my int. S3 after replacing the zip file with a file explorer.
I love your work.
Could you please mention in your initial post that you've to replace the file instead of flashing it through a recovery? I think it would prevent some people of running into the same problem.
Thanks :highfive:

Please, Can u make version 320x480?

There are a couple of ways:
Get the zip, unpack it and batch-resize all the images in the part1 folder.
Or:
Open the PSD in Photoshop, Image>Image Size, enter new resolution (keep aspect ratio), Resample: Bicubic Sharper.
Then File>Export>Render Video, choose the folder to overwrite the original images, pick "Photoshop Image Sequence" in the drop-down menu, and hit render.
(this method is a bit power hungry. Your computer needs a decent amount of RAM/scratch disk for video editing in PS)
For both:
In the bootanimation.zip, open the desc.txt and change the first two numbers to your new resolution.
Or:
Tell me the resolution you need, and I'll resize it for you.

-This Boot screen is set up and tested on the HTC Desire HD/Inspire 4G at 480x800 Resolution at 15FPS.....but can work on many other devices without changing anything with a 480x800 Resolution
-Just copy the boot screen and place inside the system/customize/resource/.....(you can use programs such as (Droid Explorer/Android Commander) and on your android device by copying bootanimation.zip to your SD Card and then using root explorer to copy to destination)
-You can also use various programs that allow you to easier install custom boot screens such as......(Bootanimation Installer)--Download Below
P.S. I am very aware that the file is quite large...but it works.....

The Spice Rack - Zipthemer Mods and how to build them from your phone.

OP is WIP
This thread is inspired by the Candy Shop threads in the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, and Nexus 7 sections. Big thanks to Matthew for helping me learn to build these mods. After I got the concept down, I figured out I could build Zipthemer mods directly from my phone. I thought I would share how to do that with the rest of the community. This is not a tutorial on how to use Zipthemer, but I will link to one once I get this organized. I'm using a lot of images so I hope this is pretty clear. Now, without further delay...
First thing you will need is a file explorer with root access and read/write permissions. In this guide I will be using ES File Explorer, but any should work. Using the file explorer, you will navigate to /system and find the system apps you want modify. Most of these will be found in either system/app, or system/framework.
You will want to copy (not cut) the apps and paste them somewhere on the sd storage. You will then want to extract them so you can see what is inside them. Once extracted there will be a folder of the same name as that app.
When you open that folder you will want to navigate to the res folder. Inside this folder you will see several drawable folders. Different devices, and sometimes different roms place the image you want to edit in different folders. Also, some images have a normal and inverted folder. The inverted folder is for the dark themes included in the rom, like dark carbon, dark stalk, the real dark slim, ect. It may take some searching to find the image you want to change. To start with, you can use any of the zips posted in the Candy Shop threads to start with. Then all you will need to do is change your image, or possibly add a different folder (or rename the one that's there). I will be using an existing mod I made (Phone Mod in the pics) and changing the image in this tutorial. The mod changes the picture on the call screen for contacts with no picture assigned. I did the entire mod from my phone, including editing the pic (though some images may require more precise editing that needs to be done on a pc). I used a wall paper from Zedge, changed the size using Picsart, then ES File Explorer to finish the mod.

I didn't remember to screenshot the name change of the phone mod folder that i started with, but I renamed phone mod to droideye unknown before doing the compress step. Hope that isn't to confusing.
Now you see that you can make mods for you phone directly from your phone. Cool, right?! I will try to clean this up more soon. I'm impatient and trying to get the images and text in a manner that doesn't look thrown together takes a little time. But I will work on it.
+1

I believe so. You can edit it if needed to direct images to another app. But I have used the same mod on different devices without issue.

This post will be moved to the OP once it is completed. I didn't want to remove the images until I had redone the instructions.
First things first, thanks @matthew0776 for getting me started. He helped me learn to make these mods, and allowed me to use his zips as templates. Check out his work in the Candy Shop threads for the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7, Nexus 4, and HTC ONE. His work is top notch, and you will find others offering their own as well. With the guide I've provided, you can take any of the mods you find there, unzip, replace the images with your own, and rezip. Be sure to send him some thanks (click the button, don't just type it please).
Now on to business. A few things you will need, a file explorer with root access including read/write ability (I use ES File Explorer), and an image editor. The read/write is so you can copy system apps if you want to search for your own images to try and mod. You can copy system apps and paste them elsewhere, then extract them to see the image folders. For more detailed image editing you will need to use a pc, but for basic things Picsart or similar will suffice. I also use online-image-editor.com to do basic transparency work and image overlays. You can do this from your mobile browser. But understand, this is not a tutorial on how to edit images, so you are on your own for that. I'm not that great at it myself. Also, if you are unfamiliar with zipthemer, @ZubaZ made a great video on that here.
A little something I'm working on. Just chose the image to play with but wanted to test the mod. It only works in dark mode right now, I haven't tracked down the png for normal mode yet (if it is a png).

It's located in \system\vendor\oem\media\
While browsing via some terminal emulator, android is just linux system, use "ls -la" command to figure out files permissons, and use "chmod 644 file.zip" command to set the "rw-r--r--" permissions. You need to be root to be able to change those files permissions.
Take advance that \system is read-only mount point, you need to re-mount the partition in order to make changes. If you're not sure how to do that, use some APP to change files permissions. I think Total Commander app is quite easy-to-use one... it will re-mount partition after changing file permissions... (of course, You need Total Commander to run with root access.....)
Nice, this can be @60 fps ?
Would it be possible to add the sound effect as well?

I sent you a pm with links to both the portrait and landscape, I made small edits to both I think, one of them only to change the resolution tho. I won't post links since I have no permission from the dev, and nowhere to host them.
Edit: I changed the resolution to 1200 x 1980 and vice versa for the two files.

[RELEASE] "New" Android N bootanimation

Hi!
Can someone create or explain how to make a bootanimation based of the new update images?
See the following link:. www.androidpolice.com/2016/05/20/an...oper-preview-3-except-its-not-quite-ready-yet
Succeeded in creating one! Based on the animation during the Dev Preview 3 update.
Just a sloppy release, I cba to make a fade in/out. If you got spare time for that, feel free to edit.
See the preview image below.

7. Make sure permission are on 664/ rw-r-r
8. Reboot
9. ??
10. Done!
Edit: fellow member fLipz made a flashable zip. If you want to use that, it's over here. Thanks!

Try it , the worse that could happen is it doesn't work or it looks like crap and you have to go back .
Just tried this on my Nexus 4, works well but it is little big for our resolution. If someone make this for our Nexus 4 that will be amazing, nice work though!

Download link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4oegINhkQdkejAwUTBHUDF6dWM
Installation is easy.
1. Copy the file to your SD card
2. Open up root explorer
3. Copy the bootanimation.zip from the SD card
4. Navigate to /system/media/
5. Rename your current bootanimation
6. Paste your bootanimation.zip in the clipboard
7. Make sure permission are on 664/ rw-r-r
8. Reboot
9. ??
10. Done!
Edit: fellow member fLipz made a flashable zip. If you want to use that, it's over here. Thanks!

Just tried this on my Nexus 4, works well but it is little big for our resolution. If someone make this for our Nexus 4 that will be amazing, nice work though!

Do it yourself instead if sounding rude when asking for someone else's work. You didn't even use please or thank you...
Inside any bootanimation.zip, you'll find desc.txt. The first two numbers are your screen resolution and the third is the rate that it plays(I believe).
You're welcome. ?

[Boot Animation][Multiple Resolutions]"ASCENSION" Boot Animation For All Devices
Here's an animation that I thought might look cool on some devices. I originally just made them in the Samsung .QMG format, but have now added flashable zips for all other devices as well and uploaded them to this post. Be sure to hit the "THANKS" button if you guys like it too! I may make more.

480x800/720x1280/1080x1920/1440x2560 SIZE DISPLAY
ROOT ACCESS
CUSTOM RECOVERY OR AN APP THAT FLASHES ZIP FILES
A FULL SYSTEM BACKUP(Recommended.)
TO INSTALL:
1) Download the appropriate file below and put it on the root of your sdcard.
2) Boot into recovery.

That's it. Easy!
NOTE: SAMSUNG USERS - Download the files that end in "_qmg"!:
(The 1440x2560 animation was too large to upload here, so here's the link.): https://mega.nz/#!KRElxYxL!8xtT6028UUDDybnY9eeUL3djv4ePIqYXddRuAtfUPQI

Samsung has it's own boot animation format. The files are .qmg format, rather than the regular bootanimation.zip that other devices use.

HII... @bogarty I love your bootanimation.
May I ask you a question?
Can I extract the bootanimation file into image file so I can make it for other devices?

I have all the images ready to go for other devices. I just need to make sure they play at the proper speed. It should be about the same as the gif. If you want me to make one for you to test, then just let me know which resolution you have and I'll send you a link.
Same goes for you @ahmed.ismael .

For resolution I just meant the resolution size of your display. Like 1080x1920, 1440x2560, etc.

Might be awhile too. I worked pretty hard at making files on this one for all the different resolutions for both Samsung and regular devices and they've been downloaded almost 300 times, but I only received 3 Thanks. I don't do it for the Thanks necessarily, but at that rate, I guess I'm not really even sure if people are enjoying it. Plus, after how hard I worked for weeks on the one I linked above, I may just take a break.
Thanks for downloading my animation guys! By the way, if any of you still have your old stock boot animation sound playing in the background while this animation is playing, and you want to get rid of it easily, then I made a flashable file for that today. Here is the link to the thread.
