Backup the bootanimation_land.zip and bootanimation.zip in \oem\media\ before overwriting them!
Put the files:
bootanimation_land.zip
bootanimation.zip
in \oem\media\ using your favorite file manager.
Set permission on both files to rw-r-r and you are good to go!
Hope you all like it!
I am not responsible for any damage you do to your device.
[UPDATE]
There was an issue with the portrait animation (bootanimation.zip). The file is updated and the problem should be solved.

Good job man.
One problem, where do I find " \oem\media\ "??
i cant change permission on Shield (root explorer) and nexus 5 (root explorer) =( -both on lollipop
maybe you can upload already changed files?
ok, you just copy files (root explorer) in oem/media and doesnt set permission and this work!

It's located in \system\vendor\oem\media\
While browsing via some terminal emulator, android is just linux system, use "ls -la" command to figure out files permissons, and use "chmod 644 file.zip" command to set the "rw-r--r--" permissions. You need to be root to be able to change those files permissions.
Take advance that \system is read-only mount point, you need to re-mount the partition in order to make changes. If you're not sure how to do that, use some APP to change files permissions. I think Total Commander app is quite easy-to-use one... it will re-mount partition after changing file permissions... (of course, You need Total Commander to run with root access.....)
Nice, this can be @60 fps ?
Would it be possible to add the sound effect as well?

Yeah, I have the issue with the Portrait one on M too. Maybe it's just a simple fault in the desc.txt?
@kimern It is a simple edit of the desc.txt to fix the mm issue. I changed it on my own and it works beautifully on the 6.0.1 Vulcan preview. Thank you!

I sent you a pm with links to both the portrait and landscape, I made small edits to both I think, one of them only to change the resolution tho. I won't post links since I have no permission from the dev, and nowhere to host them.
Edit: I changed the resolution to 1200 x 1980 and vice versa for the two files.

Many of us tried to replace "downanimation.zip" which reside in (/system/customize/resource/) but ended with blank screen no matter how u pack the zip.
After countless try & error, here is the solution. The structure & format is remain the same as "bootanimation.zip" which will works if packed without compression (store compression level).
The only different is the way we zip as shown below.
# Running Linux :
* The correct zip command (im using latest Ubuntu on VirtualBox) is zip -0rD downanimation.zip <image folder> + desc.txt

# Running Windows :
* Windows using WinRAR :
1-Create zip like this
2- recreate the zip file but this time ignore file parameters in 2nd scrnshot.
3- open using winrar & delete all image files outside folder.
Thanks.
My modded one. This is not flashable zip. Must use ADB/QtADB to copy to device manually.

Hello,
I am searching for an app for my Xoom which would let me browse my photos just like if I was turning pages on a book.
There was an app on the Acer A500 which was perfect, its name was "photo browser 3D", but I couldn't find it for the Xoom.
Does anyone know where I can find this kind of app for my Xoom ?
Thanks
Hey there <s>try using this: http://android.upce.cz/acer/acer_addon.zip </s>(edit: use the one below instead)
<s>It needs the nfs.apk taken out but otherwise the rest should make it work. I haven't tried it yet but will later on.</s>
Edit: I took out the nfs.apk so the download is MUCH smaller.

Thanks a lot ! In fact I tried to copy the files in the LIB directory to my Xoom but I couldn't do it because I didn't have the "rights" to do it. I guess it's because my Xoom is not rooted, right ?
Yes unfortunately you need to have root to do it that route. If you have Clockwork recovery on it you can flash the zip without root

Sadly I don't believe there is. If you dont want to root you can easilly unlock your device and put a custom recovery on it(this is the easy way to apply the mod). If I remember correctly you may need to backup your internal data for the unlock process. Its been awhile though so l would need to double check on that.
Otherwise the only other way would be adb pushing the files to the right directories.

Some of you may know that this has been done before. I did it so it could be open for everyone, and I documented the process.

it can be implemented in a source built rom or via apk paste

adw is cm7's built in launcher so if you drag launcher 2 into a stock cm7 rom it will replace nothing

hm... its possible the manufacture limited the size to exactly what they needed to put it. Im not entirety sure... first thing i would do is try a different method to push it over. try adb.
So, I wasn't quite satisfied with my current ROM's boot animation. So I decided to make my own.

Push the bootanimation.zip to /system/media/bootanimation.zip. /system has to be re-mounted RW before doing this via adb. Please don't forget to re-mount RO after you're done copying the file.
Alternatively, it's possible to move the file into place directly on the phone via Root Explorer/Root Browser/ES File manager/etc. This is likely to be a much less painful way.

Sorry about that, I have looked further into the issue, and it seems that it's not possible to create a flashable zip that works for all phones, due to the different methods used to mount the /system partition. Or at least there's no way that I am aware of :silly:
I have reverted the download back to the original file, the bootanimation.zip, for manual installation for now, while I'm trying to create another generic flashable zip. If it's any consolation, I can offer a zip that's confirmed working via CWM on a HTC One X...

THANK YOU so much for all you effort! It worked flawless on my int. S3 after replacing the zip file with a file explorer.

Could you please mention in your initial post that you've to replace the file instead of flashing it through a recovery? I think it would prevent some people of running into the same problem.
Thanks :highfive:

Get the zip, unpack it and batch-resize all the images in the part1 folder.
Or:
Open the PSD in Photoshop, Image>Image Size, enter new resolution (keep aspect ratio), Resample: Bicubic Sharper.
Then File>Export>Render Video, choose the folder to overwrite the original images, pick "Photoshop Image Sequence" in the drop-down menu, and hit render.
(this method is a bit power hungry. Your computer needs a decent amount of RAM/scratch disk for video editing in PS)
For both:
In the bootanimation.zip, open the desc.txt and change the first two numbers to your new resolution.
Or:
Tell me the resolution you need, and I'll resize it for you.

Hi!
Can someone create or explain how to make a bootanimation based of the new update images?
See the following link:. www.androidpolice.com/2016/05/20/an...oper-preview-3-except-its-not-quite-ready-yet
Succeeded in creating one! Based on the animation during the Dev Preview 3 update.
Just a sloppy release, I cba to make a fade in/out. If you got spare time for that, feel free to edit.
See the preview image below.

10. Done!
Edit: fellow member fLipz made a flashable zip. If you want to use that, it's over here. Thanks!

You would need to dig into the new recovery image and find them.
I've meddled a little with that before but not enough to tell you exactly how to do it.

Yeah, it was hard to find which file the images was in. Managed to get all the files, am busy creating a bootanimation now.
If it all works well, ill post it in here

Neat. [emoji14]
Don't think I've seen that one. Reminds me of Motorola, a little.

Kudos, this isn't bad at all! Even though it reminds me of a LSD trip lol

Try it , the worse that could happen is it doesn't work or it looks like crap and you have to go back .
Just tried this on my Nexus 4, works well but it is little big for our resolution. If someone make this for our Nexus 4 that will be amazing, nice work though!
after flashing zip if something went wrong as i am using multirom( some CMTE bootanimation results in bootloops) how to revert back?

make a Nandroid Backup and test it. if it gives you bootloop, just restore your backup.

Do it yourself instead if sounding rude when asking for someone else's work. You didn't even use please or thank you...
Inside any bootanimation.zip, you'll find desc.txt. The first two numbers are your screen resolution and the third is the rate that it plays(I believe).
You're welcome. ?
