Network rejecting Chromecast - Google Chromecast

approaxamitely one a day for the last week since i cant back to clolrado after buying my CC in California and sice i have its been nothing but problems all seemingly network realted
the first issue was the chromecast was asking for a different IP then it was getting that was fixed by just assigning it that IP
since doing that about once a day i need to unplug and re plug in my uncles router to get any device to see the Chromecast but the CC sits at thw Ready to Cast screen like nothing is wrong.
is that device related?
or network?

no one?

I do that daily

Not just unplug it, hold the rest button down for 30 seconds unplug it. Still holding the button down plug it back in holding the reset button down for 30 seconds.
And / Or go into the routers menu and do a full system reset.

I noticed that if I open an app while not on my home network and then background it, then if I launch the app when I return to the network, it usually will not have the cast icon. This is fixed by killing the app from the backgrounded app list (soft button that looks like two rectangles on jellybean, not sure what it is really called) and then relaunch.
One time this did not fix it. My router was the issue though and preventing my devices from seeing the chromecast. I reset the router using the routers reset button. After the reset, everything worked great.

[Q] Wi-Fi Problem

My Galaxy 7 tab will not connect to my router, there are 2 sky routers it is trying to connect to, not sure why it is trying to connect to the other.
How can I remove the unwanted router from the list of devices?
Thanks Mark
Turn off wifi, still in the settings, tap once in one router, and choose delete.
Is better you delete both them.
And after this connect again for the one that appear when you turn on wifi.

I have tried that but I do not have the key for the one I want to remove and when I press it it brings up the wireless key screen

Try tap and HOLD and a menu should pop up.
Install wifi key recovery from market first then loss of key should not be an issue.
(I'm assuming you're rooted)
Wi-Fi recovery keeps force closing and tap and hold just brings up the key entry box
Let me get get it straight. You saw two routers on the list.
One is the one you want and have key for it.
The other is the one you don't want and have no key for it.
1) is that correct?
2) how do you know your tab is trying to connect to second router.
If you just want to remove the second router ( aka don't want to see it hanging around) , you can't.
It is broadcasting and you will always see it as long as it is turned on.

OK thanks need to find out who it belongs to then.

My point is, the second router is just being around, you don't have to connect to it or remove it.
That is why I asked how do you know your tab us trying to connect to it.
My suspicion is, it is not trying to.
It just happens to see the other router.
You can just ignore it and connect to yours.
If the tab can't connect to it despite having the right key, maybe it us MAC filter or something else. Just focus on that and forget about the other router.

I have a wifi problem as well where I cannot connect to my wireless routers, even after deleting the settings and trying to get in again. One is open the other is secure but i have entered the correct key. It gets stuck on acquiring IP, but my other devices connect almost immediately.
Any clues?

This is where mine stops as well.
Still looking for a solution to this problem, beginning to considerer a factory reset.
I have tried turning security off my wi-fi and it still does not connect.
Not sure what to do about this problem now, I did a factory reset but the 2 routers are still trying to connect, so I went into download mode cleared cache and reloaded system from download menu and the 2 routers are still both trying to connect.
I have found details on the net about removing the DHCP details using a root exploer but my tab no longer seems to be rooted and if I try to root it using Z4Root which I used before it fails to root the tab.
Any ideas how I can root the tab to get to the DHCP info?
Thanks Mark

WiFi logo confusion

I'm confused about the WiFi signal/logo on top. When I'm connected to the WiFi network at home, work, of st my in law house the WiFi logo of fine, looks normal. I use an overdrive pro while on the go. When I connect my fire hd to this I get the WiFi signal with full bars but it has a "x" over it. The odd thing is though it's that I still get internet access like normal. The x never comes off. When I connect to it out for ask me that I need to "log in". It's a pop-up that comes out but I just push cancel and just continue. If I push ok then it leads me to the Amazon website. Weird. Any guesses?

Have you registered your device at start-up?
That may be your issue
This is a know bug in the latest version from amazon. It is only visual though, so like you said, your wifi functions fine even with that icon. So while it may be annoying, try to ignore it

Ok just a note. I changed the security setting to accept both versions of wpa. Im not sure what the acronyms are right but i think its wpa2 aes and wpa tkik. Compared to it only being on the wpa2 one. Idk. Now my tablet accepts the wifi without having little x on it.

Keep having to restart

The little cast button keeps disappearing from all the apps on my devices and I have to restart the chromecast to get it back. If I manually switch to the tv input the chromecast appears to be functioning correctly though. Anyone else?

That's happening to me. I think it has to do with my router. I changed some router settings to see it if helps. I used to get the same 'disconnect' problem with my ps3. It happens once a week or so.

I've been having issues with my verizon branded galaxy nexus. Completely stock. When I cast a music playlist, it doesn't continue streaming until I wake it back up. In other words, it will play one song and that is it. As soon as I wake the phone up and re-enter the play music app, it starts back up. I have wifi set to stay on when sleeping and I've tried it on both 2.4 and 5 ghz bands on my router. It may be noteworthy that this doesn't happen on my nexus 7 v2. That will continue streaming through the playlist.
Anyone else having similar issues?

I'd guess your Wi-Fi is going to sleep. If the device that starts a cast disconnects it will stop after that song ends.
That's not the problem I'm having. On ALL my devices the cast button disappears from all the apps that can cast. If I change to the HDMI that the chromecast is in everything appears normal, it says ready to cast. A reboot fixes but within 24 hours it happens again.

Yep that's my problem. My router is really crappy and doesn't have Ap Isolation setting so I can't see if that's the issue.
Anyone else can chime in with possible solutions?

Same problem here. Works for a while and then the logo disappears in all the devices.
I have asus rt-n13u b1 router that is pretty crappy, but I'm using it only as an AP for my router that I got from my ISP. Anyways, I'm not sure where is the problem and how I can fix it. I had similar issues with AppleTV, but Roku seems to be the most reliable one of all. Thinking I should go back to Roku!
Any help would be appreciated.

Google says RT-N12 works, what's the difference between it and the N13?
I believe the Chromecast discovery relies on multicast, so check if your router has any options mentioning multicast.

Chromecast disappears???

For some reason every couple days when I go to use the chromecast it doesn't show up any devices but says "ready to cast". So I have to go reset my router every time and it fixes it but it only temporary.
Anyone else have this issue?

May not be what your problem is but I have an HP Wireless Printer that did not necessarily disappear from my network but kept reporting that ' Wireless Scan to PC ' was not available and I would be unable to connect to the Web Interface for the printer. A reboot of the printer would normally start things to working again.
My particular router has an option called ' APSD ' and another option called ' MSDU(A-MSDU) ' that fixed the problem when I enabled both of them. Never did go back and test to see which one actually fixed the problem.
You might dig around in your router to see if you have anything like that.

Moto X doesn't recognize chromecast anymore

I have two chromecast dongles that's been working fine. I control them right from my Moto X. Today my Moto X suddenly doesn't recognize them any more. In the chromecast app, it thinks there are no dongles out there, although the dongles are displaying images on the TV and indicating they are on the same WiFi network as my Moto X. I rebooted the phone but no difference. Please give me some ideas what else I should try and thanks in advance.

Have you tried to reboot the Chromecast? I had an issue with it once and was able to just unplug. Wait a minute. Reboot.
Sent from my LG-V500 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
try rebooting your router too, and also check to make sure your X is on WiFi. i've made that mistake once or twice, not being able to see the CC icon in an app, only to realize i didn't have WiFi enabled.
Definitely try rebooting the Chromecasts. During the last OTA upgrade to the Chromecast, mine got hung up. It looked okay on the TV - the screen showed up, said it was connected to Wifi, I could ping it, etc. - but my phone and tablet wouldn't see it.
Unplugging it and plugging it back in fixed the issue and it hasn't been a problem since.
