Can someone please help me with this? I find that all the devices in my house work best when I switch my wireless router to channel 13, but I cannot seem to connect my Android Touchpad to the network when I switch it to that setting.
Right now I am on CyanogenMod Version 9-20120916-NIGHTLY-tenderloin, which has worked great for me otherwise.
Is it possible to update this ROM to connect to channel 13? Does another ROM allow for it?
Thanks in advance.
The driver/wifi adapter might not support that channel. Try rebooting into WebOS and see if it works there. If it does, there might be a bug on the driver and/or android preventing you from using channel 13.
Question, are you on North America ?
Yes, I am in North America, where I know Channel 13 isn't supposed to be used but my laptops and desktop connect to it without issue and the throughput is fantastic.
Maybe android is limiting your usage of the given channel.
Have you googled this issue?

Hello,
I write from Spain, I need to use the wifi channel 14 on my Samsung Galaxy S and Europe is only allowed until 13.
I have several router via WDS (Wireless Distribution System) and I am forced to use channel 14 to avoid interference
Anyone know how I can enable?
Thank you very much,
Greetings!
I do not know if someone already ask this question but I am going to ask again. My SGS i9000 supposed to support wirless b/g/n but it can only pick up wifif B/G. Another setup was created for wifi N but I cannot see the wifi N. I thought it should pick it up at least. Anybody here with wifi knowledge that can enlighten me up a little? Please help!!!
you sure it's not an issue with the channel?
Where are you from / Which channels are allowed in your region?
I just set my AP to N-only and channel 11 and it worked perfectly for me (running Tweaky vanilla - JVH-based).
What ROM are you running?
I am currently connected to a Sky router with a link speed of 72Mb/s so I gues this is running 802.11n
Thanks for the reply. I am in Canada and my company has external port for N. Just can't see the N network. Laptops can be connected with no issues.
Are you referring to 5GHz N because I don't think it can use it. Only 2,4GHz wireless N is supported.
Hi!
I live in a area where there are a lot of WI-Fi networks. My Nokia Lumia 820 seems to only use WI-FI channel 6 while using internet sharing as do 6 other routers nearby. This causes constant connection dropouts with my Macbook pro. Is there a hack to change to another broadcasting channel with a little less interference?
Thanks for your help in advance!

Router allways sets up the channel, and internet sharing dosn't allows to choose it.
one option would be to setup an intermediate router as gateway with other configured channel.

Sorry, its set in the registry and that can't be changed yet. I would hope that it could be included in GDR3 or even 8.1/Blue. That would get real annoying.
Also, any chance of those other connections are unencrypted? You could log onto them and change some of them to a different channel as most people barely know the default username and password on their router. ?
I don't know if some others in the community consider this wardriving,
but it involves accessing someone elses WiFi.

I seem to be unable to connect to a ac wifi network (5ghz) in fact, the SSID (broadcast enabled) doesn't even show up.
Adding it manually won't fix it either. Anyone else have that problem?

On what channel do you have your AC network and from where (country) do you have your phone? Could be the case you have set your AC to something not allowed in your country and so the phone does not "see" it. Just a guess.

agreed with this guy..you might wanna check what wifi channel your 5ghz is on..
My router is a US netgear r7000. I believe I have a EU z3c. The router region is locked into USA and I can't change it.
However I find it troubling that an international phone is unable to connect to all wifi channels.
Phones travel as do laptops. And my laptop connects to every wifi channel.
Anyway having said that, I'll use my friends router to test this theory. I'll report the results.
I doubt the router uses one of the upper channels, so it should work anyway.

Try setting it to a fixed common channel, 56 for example, and check if it works then.
Actually the router was on auto and was using the upper channels. I changed it to channel 48, and the problem was solved.
Still disappointed though, albeit admittedly less so. Thanks lruwen
Please read the above mentioned Wiki in full and you'll have to agree that Sony can't be blamed for these problems. It's just down do regulations that different from one country to another and worse, they even keep changing.

Thanks, this helped me. I had my router set for US use but my phone I just bought from Europe. Manually setting the 5Ghz channel to 48 did the trick.

I'm happy to see that my post was helpful to someone
Hi!
Have a CC that bought in the US that have worked like a charm in my Swedish home. Until now. Got a new Netgear r7000 Nighthawk router (which flies) and suddenly my chromecast gives an error saying that the unit is purchased in a different country than the router and will not work. And sure enough, it doesn't. It will not show the network at all.
Familys two other CC:s that are bought in Sweden works just fine with the new router.
When I changed the wireless region on the router to USA the US chromecast works (and the Swedish ones too). But then my wireless HP printer suddenly will not connect instead. Damn if you do....
So please help! Is there any setting or adjustment I can make on the router that will make both my US chromecast and my HP printer happy?
Thanks for any input on this matter!
The only thing I can think of is Europe has more channels Wi Fi can use than the US has (Maybe that is reversed but it makes sense in this case)
Perhaps your router is picking Channel automatically and picking a Channel the US CCast can't use.
Try Manually setting the WiFi Channel on the router to a number between 1-11.
Those are supported by the US.
See if that works.
And that was the problem! The router was running on channel 13. After manually picking lower channel it works.
Thanks for helping me out with this!
Also got the printer connected after lowering the speed on 2.4 network.

Glad you got the CCast Sorted...
Printer should not have needed anything other than a reboot or reconnect to the router to work after you changed the channel.
But if all is working don't try and fix it further! LOL
