I haven't used my speakers in about a week so I decided to try them today. I got a weird popping sound as soon as I opened up YouTube. Once I started playing a video, a steady pop persisted even though the audio was coming out. I tried playing through multiple music apps, turning beats audio off, and restarted the phone with no luck. This is only happening for my top speaker only when I enter an app that plays sound. The sound also persists for a few seconds after I stop sound. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks.

In the main thread about such noises somebody has fixed this persistent popping through repair of HTC. It's hardware.
The popping sound (one single pop) a few seconds after a sound is played seems to affect a lot of people! Don't know if that's hard- or software. My device got that, too.

I've seen threads on that but it doesn't seem to be my issue. The sound doesn't just occur when I stop a sound, it occurs as soon as I start playing sound. Its constantly there. If I open up a song, it will continue to pop through the duration of the song until I stop the song completely. This makes it hard to make phone calls too. Headphones work fine though so its definitely related to the speaker. I haven't read about this specific issue on xda before so I decided to post it.

Yes. Your problem is a hardware defect (a user wrote about that), my phone doesn't have this problem. The seconds one (the single pop) often occurs.

Lately i've noticing a strange sound behavior. Whenever i play Music on the loudspeaker Music tends to fade out and in, i mean the volume goes down and then up, and no matter what player i use it,s happening so often that it's getting annoying. Any help or ideas, has anyone faced this problem? And don't know if it's rom related.
it's like something is making the sound to lose focus, like when you recieve a message while listening to Music with a headset but on headset this problem doesn't show up.
And for everyone to know i'm not using any sound mod.
edit: noticed that apps that use audio are crashing more than they should.
Hay man, I have the exact same problem, Sounds fades out then comes back... Oddly enough it's only just started happening in the last day or so. I'm on stock jellybean update with locked bootloader.
Is there any solution to this? Ive tried rebooting etc but no luck.

Try freezing soundenhancement.apk. I know this works on arc, maybe the same bug applies to XT/XTX etc.

Did that and no changes so far.
When playing walkman..i realise that the music seems like its stop and then play again..its stop around half a second..this happen in a few time per song..
Well I'm still having this problem but i've noticed that it happens oftenly whenever i'm listening music on loudspeaker and i open Chrome to navigate, it Triggers the problem. Been trying using Dolphin and it doesn't produce the problem.
I'm not 100% if chrome has to be blamed but that's what i've noticed
This weekend will try changing ROM to see if the problem goes away.
I have noticed this bug as well

Since disabling xloud I don't seem to get the issue anymore, anyone confirm?
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium
I've already tested by disabling xloud, but the problem persists, gonna try rebooting after disabling
Edit: same result after rebooting. The ultimate Test is to play Music then start browsing with chrome (at least with two tabs opened) the Sound will fade out and in eventually. Have in mind that only happens with the internal Speaker of the phone. No headphones or external speakers.
Well moved from TurzzdROM to Gregbradley's Assaye 1.1.0 and there's no sight of the problem, Not saying that was the ROM because i did something else, that is is not enabling Clear phase in Settings/sound, I just activated Xloud and thats it.
So... Try disabling clear phase on settings and rebooting and see if that works.
I'm on JB & is it just me, but I noticed that the sound settings of ringtone & noticifactions isn't very loud.
If you use the max. volume settings, it isn't loud at all....
Any one else noticed this?
Hi All,
Noticed last night when streaming some videos on Youtube that the top speaker wasn't working. Tried to power off and back on a couple of times and that didn't work...starting thinking I'd got a hardware issue, but on the off chance tried the Restart function which resolved the problem.
Thought I'd share incase anybody else has this issue and goes down the hardware replacement route without trying a reset first...

I had the exact same problem with mine except the bottom speaker wasn't working. If you tapped the rear casing when music was playing you could hear the distorted music coming through so it must have been a blown speaker.
I took mine back to the retailer and then replaced it there and then.
My speakers both work but the top speaker sounds distorted at moderate volume. It sounds like it is blown.
mars2le2: after you reset your phone did the speaker start working again? if so was the sound nice and clear or did it sound distorted?
is beats audio on?
Mine crackles with beats on and off. I can cover the top speaker with my finger and the bottom speaker sounds great. No issues with headphones either.
I have requested a replacement phone from letstalk. Keep you posted.

My lower speaker sometimes doesn't work. Happened 3 times but after a reboot it fixes itself.

My top speaker was definitely blown. I got a replacement phone and all is well.

It's starting to become a little more prevalent to me the more I use the phone.. When watching youtube videos it makes a skipping/poppy sound sometimes .. Also when listening to podcasts it sometimes gets garbled audio at the beginning then clears up.
Anyone else experiencing this or should I return my phone?

Software issue
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I think it is "fixed" by turning off beats-audio in the settings. It fixed it for me at least... when on phone calls it will pop unless beats is turned off.
Got the same thing only in youtube videos but not when playing music
I think it's a software issue
Is there a fix?
Hi just got this phone, love it except for this fault. Can anyone comment on whether or not this still happens on a custom ROM? You would think HTC would have found this fault and fixed it during development
Noticed this on 2 different Ones. Occasionally, I'll get a phone call and it will vibrate, but not ring. Usually rebooting will fix it, but it always happens again.
I am seeing the same issue, but have a more specific symptom. My ringer works fine until I play music. After I'm done with the music, if someone calls, it won't ring. I will do some more testing with Beats off and see if I can narrow it down to that. I have kept Beats on all the time so far.

Same here!
Same Here!
I saw this once as well, straightened out itself though. :scratches head:

I did a little testing last night and could not repeat the symptoms.
I grabbed my wife's phone and called mine: it rang.
I played some music with Beats on and called again: it rang.
I turned off Beats and played music, then called again: it rang.
I turned Beats back on and tried again: it rang.
I repeated this for a couple of times, but never could get it to turn down the ringer like before. It seems pretty random. I did reboot the phone just before I started testing last night. Maybe that has something to do with it. I have had it not ring after paying music twice now since I got the phone that I know of, though. Weird stuff...
HTC ONE no ring on incoming calls
I am suffering with the same issue. it is very random. but I am getting quite fed up with it now. after all it, its prime function is to act as a telephone.
how can we get this logged as a bug with HTC?
I had this happen once but I was on facebook at the time so I figured I must have hit the screen when the call came in. It's never happened while the phones screen was off though.
I can confirm this as a issue and man ...my faith in this phone is getting thin with all this miscellaneous issues..I'm not saying this phone is faulty but problems here are to common

Do any of you have quite ring on pick up checked? Maybe that's causing it

Hi all,
this one is pretty amusing at times, but mostly frustrating. So I have a this HTC One which was shipped with Android 4.1. Everything was great. Then I updated to 4.2 using the normal "check for updates" procedures.
Now, whenever I hang up or ignore a call, my MP3 starts playing. Systematically. Sounds like a bluetooth issue (most of my calls are dealt with through my bluetooth headset). I uninstalled the bluetooth app (Plantronics Voyager Legend UC), reinstalled, deleted and re-paired the device. No luck.
I can;t find anywhere a "playback" setting of any kind. Google-is-my-friend tells me I'm not the only one with that issue but so far, no solution.
If anyone has a clue, aside reverting to 4.1, I'd be grateful as this is quite embarrassing when you're in a meeting and you ignore the call... (good thing I got rid of my heavy metal MP3 files...).
Thanks,

I did get a chuckle on this one. The only suggestion I have would be to download a 3rd party music player, check it as the default player, and see if that helps.
Woops sorry buddy I didn't mean not to reply, just been busy. So yeah this is amusing at best. So I uninstalled all apps related to the headset, rebooted once more, and voila ! No more MP3.
As to why it ever happened in the first place, I'm as puzzled as you on that one.
Cheers though,
Well I spoke too early... randomly, after I hang up, there comes the music...
I considered slapping the phone on the wall but that's not very viable.
I went through all the settings for the phone, the music player, the bluetooth headset, I can't figure this one out.
Any ideas you want to throw at me, please do. Thanks,
I think I've been able to narrow it down. I think it only happens (but I have to confirm this) when the "car" application is on. However in the settings I can't see "resume music after a phone call" or something similar.
I think it's the "Car" application, however it's called, because the way the "play forward stop pause" buttons look similar to what's on the screen when the music starts playing... it's a long shot I know.
Do you allow your headset to be a control for the music player? If so, using the headset to hang up may well start the music playing.
