Why do You wanna do that? Moving back to 4.1.2 and risking Sudden Death Syndrome with initial version of firmware is not recommended at all.
You had OTA update. You don't need to dowgrade your software. Download Sony Update Service and reflash your phone with latest available 4.2.2 for Your region.
Or, if You are more advanced user, download latest FTF and flash it yourself. But, I recommend Sony Update Service.
NOTE: Backup everything before flashing. That is a must.

the reason is going slower the device and battery drain faster.
its not way to do that?
to go back to 4.1.2?

No, it is a reason to flash clean version of the firmware a.k.a. factory reset with newest firmware.
I have latest firmware, and battery have little better autonomy, but UI is faster, more responsive and lag-free. Try this first.
Again, do the backup before. Contacts, SMS, photos... But not system settings and any stuff like that. You will adjust it again after flashing.

We have already fixed 4.2.2 update i guess you are on ..423 frimware
If yes and you feel the phone slow. Then flash latest firmware. 244
This is Central Europe customization
Unbranded, no bloatware just few apps like officesuite mcae fee.. They can be uninstalled

Maybe he doesn't know how to use Flashtool.

i ask if i can go back to 4.1.2 not flash 4.2.2
i know how to use flashtool dude.
its safe to do that?
its anyone here to know this phone release stock firmware?its 4.1.2?or older?

i am on 4.2.2 firmware.

Again, You have to do factory restore. Do it with latest 4.2.2. Try it. If it's still defective as you say it is, You must RMA it.
4.1.2 is not better than 4.2.2. I don't believe that You are the only person in this forum who's phone suffers from 4.2.2 upgrade.
Do the factory clean install of newest firmware. If it is not good still, Your phone is no good.

its ok i do this....!!!!!
why you say the phone is not good?
i make factory reset now...

It may be defective in some way. Latest 4.2.2 have to work on Xperia Z like buttery smooth. Especially after factory reset.

Flashing 4.2.2 over 4.3

Hi guys,
I just want to ask if it is possible to flash any 4.2.2 Rom over a 4.3 one without changing the Bootloader or Modem (as far as I know kernel there are no other things updated in 4.3 except some features in stock Rom and kernel). I'm sorry if there is a thread like this one out there but I couldn't find it on my phone app
Thanks in advance for your time and help

Now why would you do that? It's like installing windows ME over Windows 7

It's because I like to have all the possibilities to personalise nz phone, and Roms like MIUI won't get 4.3 support in the next time it's just my opinion

4.3's stock kernel sucks hard. I've experienced "unexpectedly closed" errors with certain apps and the device sometimes reboots itself without apparent reason. Had to flash the latest franco's nightly kernel in order to get this faulty release somewhat stable.
Nice GoinGoogle.

It is possible with custom recovery, not possible with fastboot without updating the bootloader. You may use any modem. You need 4.3 kernel.
EDIT: my bad, it was other way around. Yes, it is possible.
4.3 stinks like hot garbage. I'm not upgrading, and I'm going to downgrade my new N7 to 4.2.2 if possible. 4.3 is like windows ME.
I still have 4.2.2 on my N4 and have only tried 4.3 on my Kindle Fire. From my experience I have little interest in upgrading my N4 for the time being, since 4.3.x will likely fix all the JSS and JWR issues.

I think your problem is caused by your usage pattern / apps which are not updated for 4.3, combined with unstable root. Don't blame Google unless you experience the same behaviour on unrooted stock.

Wrong.
I experienced those crashes while on stock, even with google applications. that's a faulty release, not faulty device nor usage. for god sake, even "settings" menu has "unexpectedly closed" on me once.

I have had totally different experience with 4.2.2. To be honest I didn't like it at all. I didn't find it as "rock solid" as many other users here. (I came from Galaxy Nexus. Android 4.2 compared to really rock solid jzo54k 4.1.2 was imo buggy as hell. It didn't bring any performance boost but rather did the opposite: BT, WIFI issues, mem leak etc.) Plus I found this low touch sensitivity extremaly irritating. I use rooted stock 4.3 and so far I haven't noticed any bigger issues. Even if I do I really don't see a point to go back to still buggy 4.2.2. I think my device performs much better on 4.3. Maybe it's just a placebo effect, but it feels snappier and smoother. Just my subjective opinion.
Of course I do understand people that miss their favorite custom roms, whose 4.3-versions are still unavailable.
4.2.2 had and has clearly wifi/bt issues (major data stalls, difficulties in re-enabling bt after 20-30 hours of uptime).
These issues were solved. however, I'd expect 4.3 to be as stable as it can be, especially when it took more than 5 months for its release. Unfortunately, that's not the case. not even close, which is rather embarrassing.
I really was expecting for iOS-like smoothness and stability by now.

Maybe that's been your experience but my experience has been the exact opposite. It's made my N4 even more of a pleasure to use. It's smoother, snappier, and battery life is amazing. Mind you, I've never really had any problems with 4.2.2 except maybe GPS locking problems, which 4.3 solved. The only real problem with 4.3 is this whole JWR/JSS nonsense.

Not sure what's going on your end but my phone has been rock solid with no FCs at all since upgrading to 4.3 using the factory image (I never go the OTA route)
In case you're both running a stock 4.3 (unrooted), you're more than welcomed to run "angry gran run - running game" by ace viral and watch it boldly & proudly crash. If not on beginning, after few minutes. Just only one example out of many.

Not sure if this is the right place but here goes.
I am on AOKP milestone 1 might update to milestone 2 soon. But what do I have to keep in mind when making the jump to 4.3? Will I be able to downgrade later without problems? I dont understand the modems and bootloader stuff. Plus if I flash 4.3 I will lose root, so how do I flash 4.3 without loosing root? do I root the phone again after flashing? or is there a shortcut?

You can flash a 4.3 rom in recovery, but its recommended to flash radio and bootloader in recovery.

Android 4.3 ROMs require radio version .84 (or a hybrid 27/84 or 33/84 radio) and bootloader version makoz20i. As Thibaultvw points out radio version .84 and bootloader version makoz20i are both available as flashable zip files and should both be installed before installing a 4.3 based ROM. In addition, Android 4.3 requires SuperSU version 1.51 for working root privileges.
After upgrading the radio and bootloader for Android 4.3, you can restore or install an Android 4.2.2 ROM without changing the bootloader or radio.

4.3 has the best performance for my phone
I must admit that i'm finding 4.3 a little sluggish in comparison to 4.1.2.
I also think that there's less display options to play around with. I can't find a way of removing all lock-screen widgets. The one for the camera still appears even when disabled.
I'm also not keen on all the settings menus now being white as its very garish, but thats just a personal thing, and i'm sure I could get a theme to sort that out.
Not seeing any change in battery life, but thats not a bad thing.
I'm also finding that my internet browser crasher more now too.
4.3 is too damn slow
Don't go for the 4.3 update. wait a little time maybe sony will start to iron out the bugs because as of now it is unusable.
I recommend you stay on 4.1 a little longer ... maybe go straight to 4.4.
Forgot to add, the keyboard has been improved and once you get used to the change in predictive text it can be a lot quicker.
Must admit I am toying with the idea of going back to 4.1.
i am using existenz 4.3 rom, its like a butter... :good:
I have 4.3 and I am happy with this update. My phone is way faster, the apps are running and starting a bit smoother so no problems there.
The reported bugs; I HAVENT HAD ANY ONE ENCOUNTERD YET!
Yes the only one I can get is not working Bravia Engine2 but other than that is the update good.
If you are not sure what to do you can always come back to 4.1.2 if you want.
The link about flashing with flashtool can be found in my signature
Quick question though
Does the official backup and restore app works across android versions?
If I have backups from v. 4.1, would they will work in v. 4.3?
Thanks
if u a heavy user and prever stock rom, go for 4.3. in stock 4.1, memory management is main problem 4 me (CM/cm based rom is good memory management, but iam prever sony stock rom). im sure, if u not heavy user, u wont buy xsp . the only issues iam faced till now something my xsp out of memory like this, no solution except reboot (sorry 4 my bad english)
@warok88
I have this problem too,but few days ago i find solution and fix without root!
I like 4.3!
Miui , android 4.2.2 - old, but best if u dont playing 3d games
I´m using 4.3 with DooMKenel and I don´t have problems with ram or freezes, and you can use roms like cyagenonmod for android 4.4.2 or eXistenZ Ultra if you want a rom based on stock firmware

Downgrade to kitkat from lollipop

Hi
i can downgrade my note to kitkat from lollipop without any problems?
I made root in lollipop...
Thanks
Yes, just have to find your phones kk firmware and flash through Odin.
Sent from my SM-N910C using XDA Free mobile app
Ok
what the best stock version of kitkat to get the best battery life?
I install the israeli version and i get same battery life like lollipop
thanks
I would highly recommending installing the stock version of KitKat that is released for your country.
Yes, i've just done this myself. I got the phone last week, and in amongst all the other 9 million pop-ups that Samsung provide, I accidently pressed yes to upgrade to lollipop.
I ran it for a day and the lag was terrible, so I have now gone back to KitKat. As above, I just went for stock for my country. It seems a lot better now. Once they release another lollipop patch i'll update. It's a shame, as I still think my htc one m8 is slightly faster. It feels more responsive. Anyway, thats off topic.
As above, just use Odin. I'm new to modding Samsung devices really, but managed it easy enough following the various guides around.
Did you guys have to factory reset your device after the downgrade?
If so, does the Kies application backup function safe the application data (logged in accounts, safegames, application settings etc.) too?

Need some suggestion.

Hello Xda
Recently i have got Xperia z1 and it's really amzing and fast for me but there are some few question and problems i cant find solution.
1. My current android version is 4.3 i was thinking for lolipop and after searching i have found that Lolipop is a pathetic release for Z1, so i want to know that should i stay on 4.3 or downgrade to 4.2.2 or can i upgrade to kitkat ?? is it stable or worth upgrading.
2. When i turn on or off O2 logo came on my screen and some o2 apps installed. Well in my country if there is any kind of logo in mobile firmware its value decrease peoples think its a fake so is there any chance or way to remove this ? I'm familiar with rooting and have done a lot of on Nexus, Xperia P, S, Galaxy 1-2 etc etc.
Thanks in advance.
bump! still no reply
for the z1 there is both kitkat and lollipop update. I'd say update it, i like the update. If you're not really sure then first find the ftf file of the 4.3 version in case you'll want to downgrade back
is lolipop stable ??? as i visited a lot of thread and peoples are complaining about battery drain heatup issue and some features not working like xLoud xReality etc etc

If you want better battery life and dont care about the new Lollipop I suggest you update to 4.4.4 and stick with it until some "major updates" solve the heating issue and battery drain and slow charging of the lollipop version cause its really annoying, at least for me because i'm using my phone almost 7,8 hours a day using 3G,wifi,music player, and calling and Lollipop simply doesnt work for me because I have to constantly put my phone on charge, I mean its ridiculous when my phone discharge faster than its charge!
But on kitkat its almost on peak of the performance (considering the battery life)
You may update to 5 if youre not heavily using the phone but otherwise at present, the best choice is 4.4.4 (btw I'm using iHackers 6.2 with trinity kernel)
For second part you may flash any unbranded ftf rom so there is no more carrier logo

No I didn't try any prerooted rom just flashed stock ftf
Some guya suggest using phone for 2,3 days will improve battery life
I use it for 1 week even without root (pure stock) and no improve so far! So tail between legs I came back to KK!!
I can confirm that battery leak is only in "screen on"
Funny part is that stock LP use same battery as CM12 and for me there is no reason to choose stock over CM so I just got back to my previous combination!! using iHackers 6.2 alongside CM12 (Multirom)
Btw thanks fo reply bro

Time to clean up my XZ3 H9436

Hello,
I was super happy of my Xperia XZ3 H9436 model, however in the last months is getting unresponsive and take tons of time to load some application. Most of the time in relation of my Work profile account from the company.
Can you suggest me the BEST WAY to clean up and restore it? I don't think I can load any cyanogen build due the working profile, I must stay on an official rom by Sony and apply tweaks.
Please let me know I'm quite lost with all the post and roms version there.
Thank you in advance,
M4z.
download the rom from the xperiafrim and flash it with newsflasher
