Do You need root?
If You like to delete some useless apps which You cannot delete without root acces or You wanna install apps which must have root access to be installed and used - than YES.
If You are not in need of those things - don't bother rooting.

PS root it

Rooting allows you to unlock the full potential (at least 80%, Unlocking bootloader the other 20%) of the Xperia, stock sound is really quiet so even if you root and install puresound mod is worth it

There's no 'bad' to rooting. You just get root permissions, which in turn gives to access to the root directory, which also means apps that modify files in the root directory can run, this can add functionality to the phone.
If you don't have good reasons to root, don't do it. You'll know if you really need root or not.

Think of it as an upgrade. Rooting makes backing up your phone alot easier.

Crazy about android but noob on making root or etc....
rooting will allow apps to run with elevated user permissions (god mode)
Some apps like adblockers requires root rights. Usually a switch user (su) command is used to elevate rights.
If any app is requesting root rights, a popup will appear and you can confirm root access. This can be set permanently or each time on request.
heres a bit long process for 253 root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2287149

Why root your phone if ur even scared to root it yourself? It will be useless if you dont even know how to use your rooted phone. Educate yourself. Period.

It's good advice actually. When the instructions are freely available in these forums anyone paying to have it done is mad and probably shouldn't be rooting in the first place.

Root, then remove bloatware.
Use app2sd or similar app from the play store to move apps to sd card. Root is needed

Root won't break camera but will void your warranty! If your'e a first time android user, I suggest you don't root as any **** ups might result in you just having an expensive brick.. Get used to android for a few months before you do any of this stuff.. Unlocking bootloader will cause the camera to break but in your case you don't need to do that.

root will NOT void your warrenty because you can always unroot and leave no trace that the phone was ever rooted.
So you don't have to unlock the bootloader. To be able to root?.

Nope. I think all you need is an application called "VRoot" works for the Z1 as well. As the program is in Chinese, there's a thread about how to use it here. It's also got the download links and stuff
No,
Please read the guides in the dev section, Your questions are answered there

Just so you know most bloated system apps can be disabled from your settings/apps/all without rooting and this removes the icon, and plus side you can always re-enable if you ever need it afterwards

you first need to enable developer mode by setting>about phone>press 10 times on model number. You will then have developer mode enabled, go back and go to developer options and enable usb debugging from there

Bin4ry's tool doesn't work for that firmware version.
Do this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386405
Follow the instructions carefully. It definitely works as I rooted the same firmware version with it myself.
If you have never used Flashtool before, here is a guide to setup drivers etc and flash - How to flash stock roms with Flashtool
Also, somebody may come in here and recommend that you use something called Kingo to root your phone. Personally, I don't trust it as there is no information on how it works or what it pushes to your phone, so keep that in mind.

Doesnt matter because you usually wipe and flash a rom after root. Then you definally sure that there is no mallware left

Yep, you cannot see anything untoward, so it's completely fine!
I'm not saying that this Kingo app does anything bad, but do you think it would flash a notification toast up on screen saying "Please wait: Stealing your personal data" if it did?
I personally do not trust it and therefore will not recommend it to anybody over a method supplied by a trusted developer such as DooMLoRD, even if the process is one click and therefore foolproof.
