Hello,
I have a problem with my galaxy note since the beginning.
Whenever I try to use some android 4.1.2 ROM, doesn't matter if stock based or some other like CM etc., the phone is just so laggy I can't use it at all. Even the ripple effect laggs or stays behind my touch (fresh ROM, no apps installed).
Android 4.0.x works great, smooth, no lag at all.
On ICS ROMs I get quadrant benchmark over 3500, on JB about 2000
Do You know the reason for this issues?
Here are some screenshots.
That's the CPU benchmark from JB N8XT ROM:

And that's the CPU benchmark from ICS AlBa ROM:
To Moderators: this is NOT a best ROM thread, so don't close it 3rd time.
Something is wrong with your JB benchmarks, i would advise you to format internal storage, fully wipe and re-flash, and then remove sdcard.
Test quadrant then, many of tests returned 0, this shouldn't happen.

Lol, he only did one test, the cpu one, so its normal that other ones are 0.But despite that i believe something else is wrong too.

They returned 0 because it's only CPU benchmark, it doesn't show the whole benchmark, which was about 2300

I'm currently running CM10.2 and it's the best ROM so far.
It's way better than stock 4.1.2, the only question is why?
Does the OS use CPU in other way than in ICS and JB 4.3?
Or would the hardware be broken (how if other android versions work fine)?
That's benchmark from CM10.2

I don't think it will help.
That's the list of ROMs I have tested:
+ about 20 others including Stock ROMs flashed via Odin
yeah it wont help, anyone else?

Seems like I'm forced to use some other android than 4.1.2. I'll only miss the note 2 features.

I've just compiled a custom kernel with EXT4, converted my partitions to EXT4 and then flashed a modified boot image with the appropriate mounts.
IT WORKS!

I don't suppose this will help either then!

Awesome! I've been thinking about getting this phone, but wanted to check things out first because my contract runs out in June. But seeing how much progress you have made already I couldn't wait, so I called my carrier today. They were willing to delete the early breakage fee next month if I signed a new contract(a cheaper one actually) with the phone on payment. Win win for me
Nice work! I can't wait to get my hands on a vanilla custom rom.
Thanks Paul!
Hmmmmmmmmmmm, no, no doesnt help either
Which benchmark app is that from your first post ?

that would be quadrant, it's on the market. btw, this phone scores 2500 without any modification already, so this thing is a beast! Appearantly changing the filesystem to EXT4 is turning it into super beast ;-)
Didn't the Nexus S acheive 4k with a 60% overclock? Jesus christ wait till the overclocks come on this beast....
im betting... 60% overclock with all the tweaks added to boost quadrant, custom roms etc... will result to 6k quadrant score
Hey guys..
Because i can't post in development section i will ask it here.
I just flashed the new Echelon Rom en so far very good.
Somebody in the development topic sayd that governor/I/O scheduler can be changed in setcpu.
But what i have learned so far is that these apps don't work well with OB.
I know that zeus uses some kind of menu you can change in terminal.
What is the way to do this in Echelon Rom?
Many thanks!

He has got an alternative kernel in it, so you can use SetCPU and others
thank you..
so far so good, i am just trying some things right now..
quadrant scores were around 1900 after flash, after install of some apps i went down to 1350 en now it is again back to 1850.
i am going to try some diffrent settings using cpu apps, see what's giving best results.
minor question: is it possible to use apps/flashable zips from zeus?
like lg apps, live wallpapers..

LEWA ROM PORT...
This is my first rom so be gentle...
its a Merge of CM7 RC2 for p920 / and LEWA ROM
as a result you still need to install the Gapps zip that you normally would for CM7
LEWA looks alot like and functions very similarly to MIUI.
For people who notice that in cm7 roms their sdcard is affected or emmc and sdcard are swapped... this Rom does not have that issue... internal is recognized as emmc and ex_sdcard is recognized as sdcard
FOR THRILL OWNERS WHO ARE STILL ON THE FROYO BASEBAND THIS VERSION IS NOT COMPATIBLE SO IF ENOUGH PEOPLE WANT IT PLEASE LET ME KNOW

LEWA Music Player
Notes:
-battery lasts well in sleep
-This rom has the majority of the same stability as the CM7 RC2
so no 3d or hdmi.
-off the bat the SD manager app FC's.
-the included calendar is not really useable because it has not been translated...

k i just flashed this. im having trouble unlocking the phone to see it. as in, after turning it on all i see is the lock screen. and wont unlock. nothing moves. and after the screen goes off, theres no way to turn it back on but to pull battery and wait for restart. after which, same problem
That's very strange. No body else has reported this. Try factory reset...
i did a factory reset, then flashed the rom, followed by gapps. it did that anyway. ill try again.
Did you wipe dalvik cache
how is the battery life when compared to the current stock gingerbread roms?
does it use the same blu tooth stack as CM7?
does it have access to 3d?
Same Bluetooth stack, better battery then official cm7, no 3d or HDMI

Are you going to update your rom against the latest nightly?
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium
Eventually ..
There isn't anything major new in the latest nightly though.. so once there is I will
About to flash. Running v21D with the newest RC3 CM7. Curious to see how stable this is, along with the battery life.
anyone on these particularly dead forums want to come close to as even try to port jellybean to the droid 4?
+1 on that. So what if we're not mainstream phone owners. We need some TLC too!

Just wait for the source to be released... then I'm sure hashcode will turn something out.
Hash will make a CM port, but CM10 won't be ready until the source drops.

Hash has a lot on his plate right now. I'm sure he will cook something up when the time is right. We just got an ics leak working.

They have already begun merging JB code into CM10. I am sure that as soon as there is an even semi-stable JB codebase we'll get a port of it.
Do you think an ICS based kernel is going to have issues with JB?

Nope, it should not. 4.1 has mostly architecture level changes, and some drivers, but not significant kernel level changes AFAIK.
Booted into it this morning, and it's every kind of broken LOL

The standard stuff. Camera and data are broken, along with various glitches. It's very stable though--no crashes yet.

So that's still on the Gingerbread kernel? That's darned impressive if so! Camera and data work fine on the ICS kernel from the leaks, so it's likely that there won't be a problem then. I must admit, that's sooner than expected.
Everything worked fine until I installed Clean Master, and I think it deleted something it shouldn't(I suspect that). Now, whenever I return to my homescreen, it takes up to 5 seconds, sometimes more, until I see all the icons. It doesn't matter where I return from, it has a delay. I have a lot of free memory, wiped Cache and Dalvik cache several times, tried 3 different kernels(running Doomlord at the moment, but have tried Trinity and CoCore Z), still same problem.
I have also tried different launchers, without any help.
I am om custom ROM, DstrikerZ1 Kai ROM.
I want to avoid another reinstallation. Thanks

Check your ram consumption..Another issue may be if you have a slow SD Card...Try pulling it off, but probably there is much ram consumption ...
Can you please post a screenshot with your free - used ram? Also try downloading an app that detects which applications are running in the background and try to uninstall them.

Thanks for your replay, but as I mentioned, I have a lot of free memory. Everything works smoothly besides going back to home screen, it takes time to show all icons.
