[Q] Kindle Fire(running Android 4.2) bootanimation Question - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I'm trying to get a Doctor Who bootanimation.zip I found to boot the entire screen and not just half of the screen. I'm using Boot Animation Factory to edit as needed. I know the resolution is 1024x600.
592 1024 12
The above is my size and speed for the desc file. Can anyone provide me with any undiscovered info on my part that I have to do to fix the problem?
Thanks a lot

Try reversing the resolution values in the desc.txt file. The boot animation, so it should be:
Code:
1024 592 12
But the bootanim may play in landscape mode. There may also be a function in Boot Animation Factory to rotate it.
It's been a while since I messed with bootanims, so I'm going off of what I can remember at the moment without a computer.
If you still need help, let me know.

Thanks
Thanks! I will try that when I get home from work. The other idea I thought of trying was taking a bootanimation I know boots my screen correctly and just replacing the images in Photoshop. I'm determined to get it working. Lol

Just curious, is this it?

Lol yep that's it! So cool.
So I figured out it was an OS issue. Apparently Jelly Bean 4.2 and up has a
Boot Animation problem. So I flashed back to 4.1 and it fixed it! Updates aren't always
a good thing. -__- lol

I'm noticing the boot animation issue too. I'm on 4.3, and so far nothing is working. I'm thinking of trying to flash it through TWRP.

Success! Flashing boot animations through TWRP actually works on 4.3. I tried ROM Toolbox and BootBox, but neither one works.

[Q] Android 4.1 on Kindle Fire - Going back to Fire

Hi all
I'm toying with installing Android 4.1 on my new Kindle Fire (non HD) so that I can get access to all the bits that I have my Android phone. The only thing I'll lose is access to LoveFilm but that's not a biggy.
However, is it possible to go back to the Kindle Fire OS if I don't like using Android on it? I can find several 4.1 installations but I can't find any Kindle Fire OS installs to apply so I'm wondering whether it's possible to remove Android 4.1 and put the factory OS back again later on.
Any ideas?

If it is a new KF, I'm not sure where you've found these installs of 4.1 but I do't think they are for the new model. The bootloader was just recently cracked and CWM and CM10 are in the early stages of being ported to the new KF's, mainly the 8.9. There are definitely no stable versions yet. Using any roms, tools, recovery, utilities, etc... meant for old model kindles will definitely brick your device. Check out the development section for progress. For now though rooting, installing play store and custom launcher will give you a good android feel without compromising performance and stability. Nova and Apex launchers are based off ics/jb interface.

Oliver,
Can you go into the Menu, Other, Device, About
What is the Software Version? If it is 10.2.3 or 10.2.2 you have the new Kindle Fire 2
and not the old Kindle Fire. Having said this, you do not have any Bootloader options
or at least any stable ones, this Android 4.1.2 is Out on the Kindle Fire 2. Onemeila
is correct, most of the development (Custom ROM) is focused around the Kindle
Fire HD 8.9" not the Kindle Fire 2 7". This is not to say we will never see a Custom
ROM, it is to say, we are a long ways away.

[Q] [New Kindle Fire HD 7"]Possible to install android and jellybean 4.2.2?

Hi everyone, I just got my Kindle Fire HD 7" (Version 10.2.6) a few days ago.
I successfully got my device rooted from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2125628
After rooting, I tried to install the android and jellybean OS into my device with the following help from these threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2041694
https://sites.google.com/site/tomsgt123/videos/kindle-fire
http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/otter/aosp/jb-4.2.2-kfire-hashcode-2013-02-12.zip
http://goo.im/gapps
The main problem now is when I tried to install TWRP (Function 3). When the "run.bat" tried to fastboot; nothing happens to my Kindle. I tried turning on and off my kindle a few times and the problem still persists. So I rerun the "run.bat" file and used the function "1" to try to boot my kindle. My kindle got rebooted but then it just like a normal reboot and it went back to the Amazon homescreen. No matter how many times I tried to manual reboot from "run.bat", it is still the same.
When I am at the KFU menu, the statuses for my device are shown as follows:
ADB Status: Online
Boot Status: Unknown
No matter what I do, the Boot Status will always be shown as "unknown".
I am wondering is it even possible to install android and jellybean on the new Kindle Fire 7" 2nd Generation device? Thanks a lot and your help will be deeply appreciated.

Kindle fire HD 7 7.4.7 newbie

Hi I just bought my first Kindle fire HD 7 7.4.7 from best buy, I do not like how amazon os lay out, I see peoples using android os , I do not know where to start, can any one show me where to go from here.
First you need to root it with binary's root method, do not even consider using kindle fire utility or you will hard brick. Next read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271909
That will get you where you want to go. Two notes I want to add, put the ROM you wanna use on your sdcard ahead of time because your kindle will boot loop after you install 2nd boot loader and twrp, and the only thing you can do is go into recovery. Second note, when flashing the second boot loader and twrp, make sure to check the first check box about downgrading the boot loader with the red text under it, if you don't you will have a red screen on boot that will only be fixable by using a fastboot cable.

So you tell me this kindle fire hd 7 with 7.4.7 running jelly bean os ? , btw what roms is best for play flash video, watch youtube.netflix and some gaming,
I read over thread, I wish there a video
Yes you can run jellybean based OS's like cm, 10.1, and cm 10.2, hashcode just released a kit at build of cm 11 though and technically that's the most up to date version of android, though it probably might have a few bugs that are being smoothed out since I think it was released less than a week ago.
There are videos on the net but some come with the files for specific devices, and if you use the strong filled you could end up with a hard brick. The fire flash method is pretty straight forward, as long as you follow the advice I mentioned I think you should be ok.

what roms version is most peoples is using ?
I would guess cm 10.2 and cm 10.2 based ROMs, but that's likely to change now with cm 11 out since it uses less ram. You can try more than one and see which one you like the most. I'm still sticking with a cm 10.1 build because of a tablet patch I made for it that I couldn't get to work on cm 10.2, but that's just me, I would be on one of the newer builds if it weren't for this.

Hi, Is this method confirmed working on the 3rd Gen KFHD7 (2013) on 7.4.7?
3rd gen's don't run 7.4.7... That would be a second gen if it's running that os version.

No - device will brick. FireOS version is unrelated to your issue. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/help/install-cyanogenmod-fire-tablet-5th-gen-t3512018

kinlde fire hd (4th generation) need help

So with root tools I broke my fire-ish. I got past a endless reboot, and I do have root. Can someone give me a copy of the 5.1.2's system menu? The broken part is probably named something like amazon launcher, or fire launcher. Something along those lines. Or what ever apk is responsible for giving the fire its launcher aka main menu past the lock screen functionality. (where you would choose apps. games books ect.)

Given you don't know what else is busted suggest reloading FireOS 5.1.2 from stock recovery and then reroot.
