[Q] Any one with broken screen? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, someone tampered with my phone and left a huge crack on front glass and a tiny crack on the back glass but its exactly on the camera. I cannot use my camera now, i even lost the micro usb port which left my phone useless. I took it to a service center they said it is not repairable and phone is out of warranty. They said they can get it repaired but asking for an whooping Rs 20.000 INR. I bought my phone recently for Rs 37,000 INR. Is there any way i can get it repaired for lesser price?

There are plenty of people with a broken screen, check this topic:

[Q] My X8's screen is bricked. Does it have a solution? (picture included)

Hi guys. My X8's screen has now its upper half screen completely black. Touch function is fully working. I brought to a local cell phone repairer center who said me it would cost BRL 200,00 (at about USD 110).
The repairer said I dropped my phone on the ground. It actually happened, but that was 8 months ago.
Notice those vertical black stripes on the screen. Maybe if I buy the right screwdriver and screen from ebay I can fix it?
Thanks very much for your time!

Looking at the picture you posted ...
Nope, that's a faulty LCD. Your repairman is right that the screen needs to be replaced.
There's no way you may fix this problem in a do-it-yourself manner. The only thing you can do in a "do-it-yourself" fashion is to order the front with the LCD yourself (the screen is glued to the front plastic, so you can only order the "two" parts as one) and exchange it, given you have experience in repairing fragile electronics such as a cell phone, yourself to save up on repair costs.

Screen broken..Not sure though

My phone felt from about 5 feet yesterday and i am wondering whether the my initial display (AMOLED) has to be replaced or the front glass. My phone seems to be working great including touch and the display. I ran to Sammy's service center asap and they told me the display has died and it will cost around 8500 INR (~170$). Just wanna make that what avtually has to be replaced.

I don't see the thumbnail, Is your screen smashed? there are ways to replace just the glass, I think there's something in this forum or General walking you through it, However ,I'd not do it..
If the screen is smashed I'd either A) Have SS replace it or B) Buy one and do it myself, However, I'd need to be 110% sure I was comfortablt with the process..
There's also a couple of YouTube video's showing the process for replacing just the glass and also the full screen..
Thanks for replying ..I actually listed my question just to confirm what has to be replaced whole display+digitizer or just the front glass. I do not rely on the service center guyz to be honest. Will service center people just replace the above glass or they will charge me for the whole screen ?

[Q] Dirt, dust under screen, what to do ?

Hello,
I've bought my Xperia SP approx. one year ago, and I've noticed recently that (a lot) of dust was present under the screen. Lately, a small hair found its way right next to the volume button. It's a bit more annoying that a few points of dust
Do you know if there's anything a can do to get rid of those ? I can't find the passage they used to get under the screen.
Do you think that these kind of issues can be taken under warranty by Sony ?
I tried to go to a few repair shop and they don't seems to be interrested in helping me. The last one I saw told me that they need to break the phone to get those out, and fully repair the screen (which costs pretty much the price of the phone).
Thanks in advance for your help.
Go to the original Sony Service Center. Usually they clean out the dust under the screen for a cheap amount of money!
I had dirt under my rear camera en front spreaker (for calling). I have removed all the screws at the back, then i was able to put out the chipset and camera. Then i used compressed air to clean it. But i think the warranty will expire.

Genuine Screen replacement

Hi,
My little man threw my rog direct on its face with no screen protector on and the screen cracked, i'm actually quite impressed, it dropped from over a meter of height. and everything still works including the on-screen fingerprint scanner. however I need that screen replaced. Is there any place that have the genuine parts, are the ones from aliexpress genuine? will they still be 120hz? I bought from Asus UK, and they quoted me £300 just for the screen.
You can get it from Aliexpress for cheaper. My issue is the repair. Do we have to remove the back panel to get to the screen or can I just go directly in the front and replace it there? the tear downs I found don't explain as they use a lot of jump cuts which doesn't help.

From 6:50. Heat it, remove it...
Looks like you don't need to take the back off. At exactly 7.06 there is a hole thru the black separation layer under the screen for the screen connector for attaching to the mother board. :good:
You can always message Jerry and he always answers questions

A bit off topic, but his name isnt actually "Jerry" his channel name is Jerry-rig everything (as in to fix or put together using non-standard or improvised materials).
Do not repair your phone yourself! If you do it. You will void your warranty, please return the device to your seller and they will send it over to a certified repair place where they have certified Asus techs that are allowed to open your phone up and repair it without warranty being affected. But if you do repair yourself then hardware warranty will no longer be valid.
Keep in mind that the device has 3 warranty types. 1 for the screen, 1 for hardware and last for battery.
So even you cracked your screen warranty is no longer valid for that part, but your hardware and battery has warranty still. So this is why you should not repair it yourself. Unless you want to void your warranty completely.

there is a lip near the speaker grill and around the glass. I can not tell if he goes around it or under it.. I will look into it again later.
Thanks for the info. The screen is super thin as it dropped knee height and it did not want to turn on. I then saw a hair line and that was that. maybe tempered glass would solve this in the future with a better case since \i used the one that came with the phone.

My phone is the tencent version and I live in Japan. I was not sure if the seller on Aliexpress would take it.

They should unless you can try contacting Asus in Japan to find if there is any certified repair place in Japan or they could possible give you nearest one in next country for you to ship it to them so they can repair it.
I broke the display and glass of my ROG 2 by accident. Fell from my pocket when riding bike and was run over by vehicles. There are scuff marks in the frame as well. Lying in service center for last 3 weeks awaiting display to be delivered from head office. Cost of replacement INR 15000 all charges inclusive. The service center says all asus phone displays come with the frame but they are not sure about ROG2 as my phone is the first one they handled. Hoping display comes with the frame so the scuff marks are also gone.
I was told display will arrive next week
Warranty on accidental damages is useless, Luckily I have insurance and am waiting for them to respond with solution, I think they'll just replace like for like
My Asus Rog Phone 2 screen is broken
I broke my Asus rog phone 2 screen accidentally. Now it's all black but i can receive calls play YouTube etc(the touch works). The service center told they cannot retrieve the data. So I'm planning to install a screen outside using some other trained professionals. Where can i get a good screen? Please share the link. Also please let me know if the data can be recovered.

I don't think you understood my point. You have two warranty types. One for screen and other for internal hardware and when you break the screen or glass then that warranty is voided for the screen/glass end, but hardware warranty is still valid so opening your Asus Rog phone 2 yourself and replacing the screen will void the warranty for hardware side and that usually is 2 years warranty. Or at least 1 year.
So don't repair your device yourself if you want your hardware warranty voided aswell.
Only a certified Asus technician may open your phone and replace the parts. Since then warranty will remain on the hardware end.

Yes i did. INR 15000. I think the cost went up as i was collecting the phone. They charged me the old rate applicable when i gave the phone for repair
I also broke my ROG Phone ll recently. Sent it back for repair. I was willing to pay the £226. Then they sent me an email stating the screen part I need no longer exists. They will refund me the repair cost but I am not stuck paying £30 a month for a broken, un-fixable phone. Not sure what to do at this point.
So i broke my screen on a drunken night out and as i had the tencent edition I didn't bother trying asus UK. Bought a screen of aliexpress went to a local repair shop and fixed. It is worth noting that you do have to go through the back as the screen ribbon is looped through the main board just to squash that rumour that you can go through front whole only.

That's some bull****, I bet they took parts as to expensive to get so they tell you a lie by saying part no longer exists.
Depends where you sent it to. Proper certified repair place won't tell you such thing since they know this device is new and parts are still available.
After complaining, they said that in certain circumstances they can send devices to Poland. Got them to do it, and I received my phone a week ago with a new frame, screen and battery.
Not sure if it would have happened if I didn't kick up a fuss

Well lately battery is stuck strongly with adhesive tape. So removing the battery will damage the battery to, so that's why battery is replaced aswell free of charge.
Even Samsung does the same to their phones.
But good that you complained so it got repaired and is like new now

How is the screen quality? Do you have the link of the seller you bought? I would not like to try the lottery and get the same ass yours if it worked well. Thanks!
Looking just as good as the one I had before and the part looked identical to the one that was removed. I'm not gonna post the link here as I I'm not sure if it will get moderated away but sent you a DM.

cracked screen

So the screen got cracked to many flat surface. Drops I think. But it also started getting pretty hot. Anyways I'm wanting to replace it. But not gonna send it in to repair it. Seen to many horror stories there weeks without a phone.
So has anyone replaced there screen? and the only place I can even find a replacement is alibaba. I am experienced in screen replacement. So it's crazy that only on alibaba can I find one. Any help would be great.
Screen is not hard to replace at all.
Nubia charges $119 when they got them in stock. Screen only.
Alibaba sells them for about $145 with the frame. Just get one with the frame for an even easyer install.
You will need a metal pry tool. Be very careful not to hit the antenna contacts on the bottom of the frame when prying. There is light adhesive but nothing to strong. It's a tight fit. Just make sure you don't scratch your frame or break any of the contacts. If you do just relax they can be replaced or just resoldered I fixed a few broken ones from people not looking at pictures prior to jamming a pry tool in.
I contacted them to see if they wanna partner with a repair shop my buddy owns here in Georgia and make him a us based authorized warranty repair center. He's got a bunch of certs but that would help cut down on repair times for them. I know his repairs are typically out within 24 hours of it coming in.
Ya Nubia doesn't have any screens available for sale. Contacting support they want 165 dollars. Plus the screen cost. I can do the repair. It's not hard. But was just wanting to order it to repair
Yeah just order it with the frame. It's not a hard fix at all.
So you transplant everything into the new frame? Battery and motherboard?
