I used the default messaging app for my HTC Vivid. I tried group messaging and sent out a picture to many of my friends. It came to them as a group message, but to me, it came back as a single thread(the original thread, one-to-one thread). It would never come back as a group message. It caused a whole lot of problems because of this. ;(
I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, or is it just me?
Or maybe does someone have a suggested app to replace the default messaging app, that is fairly similar to the default one?

I tried both handcent and go sms. Is there anything more similar to the default app? But thank you for your suggestions.

Do you know if there is a fix for android 4.0 stock messaging app for group messaging?
haha I had the opposite issue, if I grouped people, whenever I sent a message to any 2 people in the group, it turned it into a group message. So I have to send messages individually, if I don't want the entire group seeing individual responses.
Anyone know a fix to this?
The ability to send out to a group of people, more than one, the same message (Multiple contacts in one message), without turning it into an "all can read responses" group message.
So you could send out a group text and it became as group message for all? I wish I could do that. What messaging app do you use?
I'm trying to help a co-worker, he recently got the OTA to 4.1.1 and used to be able to send a text to an entire group of contacts. Now, the messaging app doesn't see that group as a viable recipient.
Any hints?
I personally never used mass text sending on Android, so couldn't help him personally.
It was something that Google removed from Jellybean.
I am on the GPE rom flashed to an AT&T Htc One. The group messaging is malfunctioning for me. Sometimes it works, sometimes it only sends to one or two people in a thread of 4 or 5 people.
Whats going on? I have Group MMS setting checked (I'm using the stock messaging app).
Any ideas? Is this a known issue? Or are my APN settings screwed up?
Hi I have a Moto X runing 4.4.2. for a few months now since i got this phone 2 of my contacts no longer group in any group chat. All of my other contacts work perfectly fine grouping except for 2. I have completely removed both contact information and even then they will not group. I have no idea where else to look or what else to try. again ALL other contacts work perfect except for 2! One started not grouping many months ago and the second started about a month ago. They both have Galaxy s3, one is completely stock and the other is on a custom cyanogen rom. Has anyone experienced anything like this? any help would be apprecaited!

[Note: This is a question and probably should be in the QA section.]
Try 8sms (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thinkleft.eightyeightsms.mms&hl=en). I've had issues doing group chat w/ GS3 folks in the past - looking at the headers it appears they use a "Cc:" type of line whereas everyone else in the world uses a long list of "To:" entries. So those sgs3 messages would behave like individual messages because my motox messaging app wouldn't parse the cc. Switching to 8sms seemed to fix things immediately.

Hey,
On sense, I can use group messaging (with hangouts) perfectly fine. The option to enable it is in the settings and all.
While on 4.4.3 AOSP, I can't. CM11, the group messaging option doesnt exist. In Paranoid Android, the group option doesnt exist.
I have done an extensive google and xda search, and found answers ranging from build prop stuff to sim card programming. I have switched out the sim card once and played around with the build prop, and I still havent had any luck.
My phone number is confirmed and everything in Hangouts.
Anyone else having this issue with 4.4.3 roms? Anyone know of a fix?
Thanks
